Brain-machine interfaces are technologies that allow direct communication between the brain and external devices. They are currently being used to help people with disabilities by allowing them to control prosthetics or communicate. Researchers are also exploring using BMIs for direct brain-to-brain communication to help overcome language barriers or aid those with locked-in syndrome. While promising, there are also concerns about using BMIs including potential risks to safety and privacy as the technology interacts more closely with the human brain and could be misused for manipulation.
