The document outlines the requirements for a 6th grade non-fiction biography book report due on February 17th, 2012. Non-Fiction – Biography
There are 3 parts to this Book Report.
#1- The Biography Info Sheet is worth 50 points. This is the first part you
will complete after you finish reading your book. Please note that in
addition to correctly completing all of the items on the sheet, a portion
of the grade also comes from grammar, usage, mechanics, and spelling,
so it is important that you check over the paper carefully for spelling,
complete sentences, etc. This page must be completed at home and
turned in at the beginning of the presentation.
#2- The Poster-Visual Representation is worth 50 points. Visual aids must
be of appropriate size and design to be easily seen from the back of the
classroom. The minimum size is 14” x 22” (half of a poster board). Most
students choose to make a poster as a visual aid; however, there are
many other possibilities. For this presentation your visual aid must
include-

A representation of the SUBJECT you read about.
You can cut the poster into a paper doll figure (keep it big!), add fabric or
dimension to create a character, design a statue, etc. Be creative in
representing this person! You could even come dressed as the character
and then use the visual to highlight important areas in the person’s life.
#3- The Presentation is worth 50 points, and will be graded using the
book share rubric like the one on the back of this page.
Please also make sure that you have the book available during the
presentation.

2. Biography Book Share Project
The book must be a BIOGRAPHY (- at least 100 pages).
You may choose a political figure, a sports hero, an amazing
inventor or explorer, an artist or any other famous person you
would like to learn more about.
You need to sign the Biography list - we do not want to have
duplicate presentations!
Your presentation must be 2 minutes long.
You must fill out an information sheet and turn it in before you
start.
You must make the visual yourself. (not just collected).
Visuals must be at least 22”x14” (half poster board) and easily
viewed from the back of the room.
Points will be deducted for visuals that are sloppy, hard to
read, or are not colored.
This is not your parents’ homework! They probably haven’t
even read the book! Remember our goal for this term is SHOW
WHAT YOU KNOW! Take the time to really show what you
have learned about the subject of your reading!
