Public blog entries and social media posts intended for friends could potentially cause embarrassment if viewed by a wider audience. As more individuals publish personal information online through blogs and social networking sites, there is a risk that past entries or posts could be discovered and "come back to bite them" such as negatively impacting a political campaign. Surveys found that nearly 20% of teens with internet access have their own blog and 38% of teens read other people's blogs, showing the increasing popularity of sharing personal information online.

MySpace, which allow easy creation of a Web site with
text, photos and often music, have gotten more popular in
recent years, especially among the younger set.

10. Pew Internet & American Life Project made some surveys
completed in recent months and found that nearly a fifth
of teens who have access to the Web have their own
blogs. And 38 percent of teens say they read other
people's blogs.
