3. Dissociative Identity Disorder
-Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is previously known as
Multiple Personality Disorder. It is a mental disorder that
is characterized by a person having at least two or more
personalities.
-Dissociative identity disorder is thought to be a complex
psychological condition that is likely caused by many factors
including severe trauma during early childhood. Usually
extreme, repetitive physical, sexual, or emotional abuse.

4. Dissociative Identity Disorder
● D.I.D is a severe form of dissociation. It is a lack of
connection between someone's thoughts, memories,
feelings, actions, and sense of identity.
● Someone who has D.I.D has certain coping mechanisms with
situations that are too violent, traumatic, or painful to
assimilate with their conscious self.
● A person with this disorder usually has a main identity
and other split personalities. The different identities
have their own age, sex, race, postures, gestures, and
distinct ways of talking.
● “Switching” is when the person switches between
identities.

Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has
evidenced 23 personalities to his
trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher
(Betty Buckley), there remains one
still submerged who is set to
materialize and dominate all of the
others. Compelled to abduct three
teenage girls led by the willful,
observant Casey, Kevin reaches a war
for survival among all of those
contained within him -- as well as
everyone around him -- as the walls
between his compartments shatter.

9. Scene Overview:
In this scene Kevin has just awoken
after The Beast killed Dr.
Fletcher. This scene starts with
Kevin telling Casey Cooke (1 of the
girls Dennis kidnapped) that he was
just on a bus and asked if today’s
date is September 18, 2014. He then
tells her where the shotgun and
shells are and to kill him.
Immediately afterwards he
“switches” to Jade, then Berry,
then Hedwig, and back to Ms.
Patricia. Ms. Patricia then
switches to the beast and chases
after Casey.
