What is Dissociative
            Identity Disorder (DID)?

DID was once known as Multiple
    Personality Disorder.

DID is a severe dissociation disorder,
which leads to a lack of connection in:
        − A person's thoughts
        − Memories
        − Feelings
        − Actions
        − Sense of identity
What Causes DID?


DID is is strongly correlated with:
        − recurring, overpowering, and
            often life-threatening trauma at a
            sensitive developmental stage
        − insistent neglect or emotional
            abuse
        − families where parents are
            frightening and unpredictable,
            the children may become
            dissociative
Symptoms of DID


2+ distinct identities or personality states
    are present

2 or more identities continually take
    control of the person's behavior.

Extensive memory loss that can not be
    explained by ordinary forgetfulness.

These reoccurring symptoms are not the
    cause of substance abuse.
Identity

    A 2003 movie
    inspired by Agatha
    Christie's novel And
    Then There Were
    None.

    10 strangers
    become stranded at
    a Nevada hotel, 1 by
    1 they are all
    murdered.

    Who is the killer
    amongst them?
Malcolm Rivers

As Malcolm Rivers awaits trial for
several horrific murders at a hotel
(unrelated to the current murders of 10
people in Nevada), his attorney finds a
journal that may explain his irradic
    behavior.
Significance


As the trial continues, Doctor Mallick diagnoses
    Malcolm Rivers with DID.

As Doctor Mallick is able to bring forth one
personality “Ed” they converse about the events of
the 10 people being murdered at the hotel in
    Nevada.

This entire hostile situation is occurring in Malcolm's
    mind.
