Introduction to political party BJP
 Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is one of the two major political parties
present in the Indian Political system which falls under the
government of democracy and also today it is the second largest
political party in terms of representation in the Parliament of India.
BJP is present all over India and so it is a party present at national
level. BJP follows the socio- religious cultural values of the country’s
Hindu majority. The Party led a national partnership government
where various parties other than congress joined BJP and formed
NDA ( National Democratic alliance ). The central philosophy of the
party is Integral Humanism (for welfare of the people).
History of BJP
 Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is a successor of Bharatiya Jana Sangh
which was founded in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mukherjee. Later in the
year 1980 BJP was formally established and found its name under the
leadership of Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Shri. Lal Krishna Advani. The
NDA government governed the country from 1998 to the year 2004 with
Shri. Vajpayee as the Prime Minister. The BJP began to have electoral
success in 1989, when it capitalized on anti-Muslim feeling. By 1991 the
BJP had considerably increased its political appeal, capturing 117 seats
in the Lok Sabha and taking power in four states. The recent time NDA
government governed was from 2014 till present with Narendra Modi as
Priminister.
 Criteria for the formation of the political party:- BJP is formed on
Religious and communal feelings as it draws inspiration from Hinduism.
In its first two decades the party's major holds were in north India's Hindi
speaking regions, because this party supported turning Hindi into the
national language of India.
BJP’s vision to change India
 Overcoming economic crisis
 Creating sustainable employment opportunities on large scale
 Increasing Human development through improved education and health
care services.
 Stopping corruption
 Increasing India’s economy
 Reducing poverty
 Building India’s Infrastructure
Achievements by BJP
 They fought for the right to Education.
 Making India a nuclear weapon state.
 Maintenance of GDP growth during BJP government.
 Improved national relationship with different countries
 Approval of Delhi Metro Project
 Sending India’s people to moon
 Bank account for poor people
 Improve relationship between India and Pakistan
 Work started for bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad
 Launched ambitious infrastructure and other development projects
Drawbacks of BJP
 As BJP promotes and follows Hinduism, they do not get the vote of Muslim
people.
 Losing two consecutive general elections in the year 2004 and 2009.
 Need of a dynamic youth leader
 Very old- fashioned/ traditional party
 Very less presence in southern and eastern India
Presidents of BJP

Major contributions done to BJP
 The major contributions done to BJP was by Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee he was the
First President of BJP which led the party ahead. He was also an active
priminister in the governance of BJP. He had done a lot of work during his
governance (strengthening rural economy, building a strong infrastructure etc.)
which created a good image of BJP amongst the crowd and also had been a
good role model for others.
 Shri Lal Krishna Advani was responsible for the growth of party, he made the
party active all over India and showed its presence at national level and also
was a very successive president in BJP for a long period of time.
 The recent contribution done to BJP to campaign a lot and form its government
and become present almost all over India is by Narendra Modi (current
priminister) and Amit shah (current president of BJP). Narendra Modi after being
a priminister has created a lot good image not only in India but also in the
World.
How it has fought in elections
 The party has worked a lot harder to form its government this year by winning 282
seats of its own and total of 336 with its alliance(NDA). The party has campaigned
