this presentation is based on bioterrorism, in this I have included the effects of bioterrorism, the reasons of bioterrorism and etc. you must check it once

2. WHAT IS
BIOTERRORISM
??
• Bioterrorism is a form of terrorism where
there is the intentional release of biological
agents (bacteria, viruses, or other germs).
This is also referred to as germ warfare.
• Terrorism is defined by the United States
government as the "unlawful use of force
and violence against persons or property to
intimidate or coerce a government, the
civilian population, or any segment thereof,
in furtherance of political or social
objectives." The term "terrorism" does not
imply what weapon is being used.
3. Biological
weapon :-
• Biological weapons are microorganisms like
virus, bacteria, fungi, or other toxins that are
produced and released deliberately to cause
disease and death in humans, animals or plants.
• Biological agents, like anthrax, botulinum toxin
and plague can pose a difficult public health
challenge causing large numbers of deaths in a
short amount of time while being difficult to
contain.
• Biological weapons is a subset of a larger class
of weapons referred to as weapons of mass
destruction, which also includes chemical,
nuclear and radiological weapons.
4. Anthrax :-
• Anthrax is a serious infectious
disease caused by gram-positive,
rod-shaped bacteria known
as Bacillus anthracis.
• Anthrax can be found naturally in
soil and commonly affects domestic
and wild animals around the world.
Although it is rare in the United
States, people can get sick with
anthrax if they come in contact with
infected animals or contaminated
animal products.
• Anthrax can cause severe illness in
both humans and animals.
5. How people get
infected with
anthrax :-
• when spores get into the body. When anthrax spores
get inside the body, they can be “activated.” When they
become active, the bacteria can multiply, spread out in
the body, produce toxins (poisons), and cause severe
illness.
• This can happen when people breathe in spores, eat
food or drink water that is contaminated with spores, or
get spores in a cut or scrape in the skin. It is very
uncommon for people in the United States to get
infected with anthrax.
7. Effects of
biological attacks :-
1. Threat to natural resources –
2. Threats to Biodiversity
3. Threats to Animal Biodiversity
4. Threats to Plant Biodiversity
8. Biotechnology and
biological warfare :-
• Biological is the international use of micro-organism &
toxins, generally of microbial, plant or animal origin to
produce disease & deaths in humans and livestock &
crops.
• Historically, bioweapon agents of concern have included
selective group of pathogens & toxins. They are all
naturally occurring organisms or their toxic product.
• There are mainly two types,
1. Generally modified agents
2. Advanced biological warfare
Agents [ ABW ]
9. 1 . GEN ETIC A LLY MOD IFIED
AGENTS -
• With the advent of recommendation DNA
technology, an organism’s genetic make up may be
altered & genetically modified biological warfare
agents may be produced.
• Example of genetic modification includes
1. Antibiotic resistance
2. Increased aerosol stability
3. Heightened pathogenesis
2. A D VA N C ED B IOLOGIC AL
WARFARE AGENTS -
• Developed technology across multiple
disciplines in the biological science have
revolutionized biowar facilitating an entirely
new class of fully engineered agents referred
to as advanced biological warfare agents.
• Technology at work – forensic teams work hard
to identify biological agents, their origins &
effects.
