The BIOS is a program stored on the motherboard that helps the processor interact with computer components like monitors, drives, and ports. It performs basic startup functions and identifies hardware at boot. To access the BIOS setup utility, restart the computer and press a key like F2 or Delete when prompted early in the boot process. The BIOS utility allows adjusting settings like boot order, CPU speed, memory timings, and drive configurations.
BIOS (basic input/output system) is the program a personal computer's microprocessor uses to get the computer system started after you turn it on. It also manages data flow between the computer's operating system and attached devices such as the hard disk, video adapter, keyboard, mouse and printer.

Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.

7. Software stored on a small memory chip on the
motherboard
It is a program or code that helps the processor to
interact and control the other components in the
computer like monitor, printer, scanner, card reader,
speakers, joystick, microphone, camera, disc drives,
TV/video/sound card, network cards, USB ports, and
hard drives.
It also does the boot process before the operating
system do its work.

9. BIOS instruct the computer on how to perform a
number of basic functions such as booting and
keyboard control.
BIOS is also used to identify and configure the
hardware in a computer such as the hard drive,
optical drive, CPU, memory, etc.

12. How to Enter BIOS
Step#1. Restart your computer,
or turn it on if it's already off.
Step#2. Watch for an "entering
setup" message in the first few
seconds after turning on your
computer. This message varies
greatly from computer to
computer and also includes the
key or keys you need to press
to enter BIOS.
Different PC brands may use
different BIOS hotkeys. F2 and
Delete are the most common.
13. Common ways you might see this BIOS access message based on
specific BIOS manufacturer, brand of motherboard, brand of
Laptop or Desktop Computer:
14. Step#3 Quickly press the key or keys instructed by the
previous message. You may need to press the BIOS
access key several times to enter BIOS. Don't hold the
key down or press it too many times or your system
may error or lock up. If that happens, just restart and
try again.
Step#4 Use the BIOS setup utility as required. That
might mean managing memory settings, configuring a
new hard drive, changing the boot order, resetting
the BIOS password, or other tasks

16. Important settings in the BIOS
a) CPU Clock
Don't modify the CPU clock speed settings unless you're going
overclock the processor. Today's modern processors and
motherboard chipsets properly detect the bus and clock speeds for
the processors. As a result, this information will generally be buried
under a performance or overclocking setting within the BIOS menus.
b) Memory Timings
Another aspect of the BIOS that can be adjusted is the
memory timings. It's typically unnecessary to change this setting if
the BIOS can detect the settings from the SPD(Serial Presence
Detect) on the memory modules. If the BIOS has an SPD setting for
the memory, use it for the highest stability with the computer.
17. Important settings in the BIOS
c) Boot Order
Boot order is the most important adjustable setting in the BIOS.
The boot order determines the order in which the computer will boot
to each device to look for an operating system or installer. The options
typically include the hard drive, optical disk drive, USB and network
The standard order at first startup is the hard drive, optical drive,
and then USB. This means that computer will look for an OS on the
hard drive first, and then look for bootable media on a disc, and then
finally search for something on any plugged in USB devices.
Adjusting the boot order is important when you're installing a
new operating system or booting to a device other than your hard
drive. You have to change the order of the boot devices so that the one
you want to boot to is listed before any other bootable device.

d) Drive Settings
With the advances made by the SATA(Serial
Advance Technology Attachment) interface, drive
settings are only adjusted when you're planning to
use several drives in a RAID(Redundant Array of
Independent Disks) array or using it for Intel Smart
Response caching with a small solid-state drive.
