HUMANE EDUCATION
Call us for a personal or group tour of our Adoption
Centers! We would be happy to walk you through our
“free roaming”cat adoption rooms and kennel area to
introduce you to current animals for adoption and fill
you in on the many needs of our facilities.
VOLUNTEERING
Volunteers are essential to everything we do, they
are our“Society Ambassadors”in the community.
Activities may include walking dogs, socializing cats,
grooming animals, shelter beautification projects;
as well as retail help at the thrift shops and assisting
with community education outreach, adoption and
special events.
Individuals wishing to volunteer (16 years or older)
must attend orientation which is held every first
Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at
our Adoption Center in Cocoa.
FOSTERING
Did you ever wish that you could have a pet that would
stay a puppy or kitten forever? If your answer is YES,
then you should consider applying to become a“foster
parent”for the Brevard Humane Society.
Foster parents are volunteers who are willing to open
both their homes and hearts to provide temporary
care for animals in need.
This generally includes puppies and kittens that are
orphaned or are too young to be placed up for
adoption, injured animals throughout their recovery
period, adult females with nursing offspring, or
animals that are sick or in need of medical attention.
F
ounded in 1952, the Brevard Humane Society
is the community’s oldest established animal
welfare group. Deeply rooted in Brevard, we
are a local leader in the“no kill”movement,
and are dedicated to...
“speaking for those
who cannot speak
for themselves”.
Self-sustaining, we care for over 1,800 animals a year
without support from tax dollars. Our funding comes
through donations, services (pet adoptions, products &
cremations), fundraisers and Molly Mutt Thrift Shop sales.
PET ADOPTIONS
Our knowledgeable staff and volunteers will assist you
in finding a pet who is a good match for you at our
two Adoption Centers in Cocoa & Merritt Island. All the
animals in our care are looking for and deserve to find
a safe & loving home of their dreams.
2. SPECIAL WAYS TO SHOW YOU CARE
As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization,
the Brevard Humane Society depends
on generous contributions to be able
to continue to care for the“unwanted
and abandoned”pets that visit our
two Adoption Centers each year.
All donations are tax-deductible and
will enable us to place numerous dogs,
cats, and other domestic pets with
new families.

SAYING“GOODBYE”TO A BELOVED PET
We understand the loving relationship you have with
your pet, and what it means to face losing a true
member of the family.
When your pet’s quality of life declines due to old
age or illness, you may have to face the decision as to
whether or not to let them go peacefully through a
process called euthanasia (your pet will simply fall into
a deep sleep and their bodily functions stop).
You can choose to be there for the procedure at
our Rainbow Bridge Chapel. It is a serene and calm
place where you can say your final farewells to your
beloved pet.
Once your pet has passed, you may choose to
have them cremated:
Individual: Your pet will be cremated by
themselves. You can also have
some of your pet’s personal items
(bed, blanket or special toy)
accompany them on their
peaceful journey.
Communal: To have your pet cremated
with others.
* Specialty urns, memorial accessories and
express service are also available.
