Letter from the President
Good Afternoon,
Thank you for once again giving me the opportunity to serve as
President of the Brevard Humane Society.
As most of you are aware, I truly love all animals but especially hold
dear to my heart domesticated animals since their health and
happiness depends on what organizations like ours do for them.
Our Board this year has worked well together to make this happen.
Soon our new laundry room will be complete at the main Shelter/
Adoption Center in Cocoa and plans are already underway to start
construction of a Pet Hotel at the Merritt Island Adoption Center
in Merritt Island.
I am very thankful to one of our past Board members, Sheriff Wayne
Ivey, for stepping up and helping us turn our county into a “No Kill
County”. I never thought a county shelter would even come close but
they now boast a live release rate of almost 60%!
Under the direction of Theresa Clifton, our Executive Director, and the
many tireless hours put in by our staff and volunteers, we have been
successful in placing close to 95% of the animals in our care in their
new “Forever Homes”.
I am looking forward to the day when there isn’t a need for any shelters
in Brevard County or elsewhere in the United States. Maybe then we
can start working with the rest of the world in finding homes for all ani-
mals in need of a Forever Home !
Thank you for letting me serve for such a worthy cause.
Sincerely,
Sandi Trudeau
President, Board of Directors
Sandi Trudeau

Mission Statement
The Brevard Humane Society provides animal welfare shelters and
programs that foster a humane ethic toward all animals. We also strive
to deepen the community’s commitment to spaying and neutering, as
well as the adoption of homeless companion animals. We believe this
to be essential to achieving our purpose of humane care and
treatment of all animals, and to attain a “no-kill” community.
Founded in 1952, the Brevard Humane Society is the
community's oldest established animal welfare group.
Deeply rooted in Brevard, the Humane Society is a
local leader in the “no kill” movement, and is dedicated
to “speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves”.
Self-sustaining, receiving no support from tax dollars;
all funding comes through donations, adoption fees,
product sales at the “Low Cost” Spay/Neuter &
Wellness Clinic, Molly Mutt Thrift Shops,
Merritt Island Adoption Center, Rainbow Bridge
Chapel & cremation services, fundraisers and
other pet related services.

As we wind down to the end of 2015, I feel most grateful for the help we have received this past year
from the community for the homeless animals. Several milestones come to mind, the most important
one is our live release rate hit an all-time high of a little better than 95%! The significance is stagger-
ing when you compare that to 2003 when we had a dismal 26% that made it out alive!
We are also very proud of the activities our County leaders have taken that further supports Brevard
County working toward a “No-Kill” status, that being with the Sheriff taking over Animal Services.
Under his direction, they have increased visibility & adoptions and improved the facilities at the
County Shelters! We are helping them by taking as many animals as we can each month so they
can reduce their numbers that are euthanized, and we have them attend as many of our sponsored
events as possible. The numbers are very positive for this effort as they euthanized less than 6,000
last year (which is a FAR cry from 2013’s numbers that were over 15,000!). We feel confident this
trend will continue to benefit the homeless animals for years to come.
Don’t forget to buy your Spay/Neuter Car tag! Thanks to the State of Florida Animal Friends $25,000
Grant, we successfully altered over 1,200 community and low-income cats! This alone has prevent-
ed thousands of cats from being born already! More of these type efforts will be seen in our future so
keep a look out! The Low-Cost Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic continues to grow as the need for
these services increases in a down economy.
We continue to renovate the Shelter on Cox Road as our new Laundry Room is in the build phase as
I write these words! May sound boring to many but the staff and volunteers at the Shelter are so
happy to see that coming (working in the existing Laundry room is quite a challenge!). Completion of
this project will domino revamping the current Laundry Room into a Vet Room for the animals to be
examined and vaccinated. Then, the current Vet Room will transform into the Stray Kitty Room so
our feline friends don’t have to go through the dog kennel area and get stressed out when lost kitty’s
come to stay with us.
The Merritt Island Adoption Center continues to be a safe haven for small dogs and cats. The small
dogs get adopted much faster there as they do not feel threatened as much as in the big Kennel
area at the Shelter.
The annual Tuxes & Tails Gala “Black & White with a Touch of Red” held in August was a sell-out!
We had a few adoptions from this event as well as raising $50,000 to help the animals in our care
with future builds. Our current plans include a “Premier Pet Hotel” for boarding and day care, so
when you are on vacation, your pet will have a “staycation”. We are currently finalizing the layout in
the design process and hope to be under construction within the upcoming year.
We were again blessed by the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce, Business Champion
of the Year Award (2014), with another special recognition by Senator Bill Posey. This award exem-
plifies the hard work and dedication put forth by all of my staff and volunteers. I could not be more
proud of their efforts and was honored to receive the award for the second year in a row for the Or-
ganization.
I cannot emphasize enough that education is the key… pet owners need to acknowledge the prob-
lem and spread the word for spaying and neutering. For now, we are offering low-cost cat and dog
spay/neutering along with wellness vaccinations so everyone can keep their pets healthy.
I would like to “thank” the Board of Directors, my staff and the many “unsung heroes” who have ei-
ther donated money or their time to help our fight. Without you, we would not be able to succeed,
and in the end, it is only the animals that suffer if we are not successful. Let’s keep it going, just for
them!
Regards,
Theresa Clifton

The Brevard Humane Society’s main goal has been to be a leader for
animal welfare in Brevard by caring for “unwanted and abandoned”
animals while providing humane education, spaying/neutering and
wellness checks to the public for their pets.
Our organization does its part to
help end pet overpopulation in
Brevard County by providing the
public “low cost” services at our
“Low Cost” Spay/Neuter &
Wellness Clinic. These services
include spay/neuter surgeries,
microchipping, vaccinations,
nail trims, heartworm tests &
prevention, deworming, ear
cleaning & mite treatment, basic
exams, fecal examinations
and flea & tick treatment
programs for pets.
The number of visitors at the:
2014 2015
Adoption Centers
 Cocoa 8,512 8,317
 Merritt Island 3,187 2,418
The Molly Mutt Thrift Shops in Melbourne, Merritt Island, Palm Bay &
Rockledge have continued to experience a continuous flow of donations
and sales at their shops.
One of the best ways we have to inform & educate the public about the
overwhelming amount of homeless animals in Brevard is through our
Adoption Programs. Monthly, we participate in a variety of community
outreach events, as well as our reoccurring monthly events.
Other programs and services we offer to the community include Cash
for Trash Program; Cremation & Euthanasia Services; Foster & Rescue
Program; HEARTS Program; Lost & Found Pet Service; Membership
Program; Paws & Stripes Program; Rainbow Bridge Community Chapel
Services; “Spay It” Forward Program; T.L.C. Program; Precious Paws
Story Time Program; and our Volunteer Program.
These types of community events & programs enable the Brevard
Humane Society to promote both Adoption Centers, as ideal locations for
finding “unconditional love” by adopting a homeless pet.

Volunteering
The heart of a volunteer is not
measured in size, but by the depth
of the commitment to make a
difference in the lives of animals.
Our volunteers are key components in the success of our organization.
These individuals (known as “Society Ambassadors”) are a major part
of making our community a safe and more humane area for homeless
animals. Volunteers make the jobs of everyone working for animals a
little easier by lending a much needed hand, helping to educate the
public and spreading the message of responsible pet ownership and
animal protection.
The Brevard Humane Society could not do what we do without the
assistance of many dedicated “Society Ambassadors”. Over the past
year, our volunteers logged 26,342 hours of service doing countless
events and fundraisers for us.
On a monthly basis, we continue to host offsite pet adoption events like:
 Foo Dog Days at Foo Bar, Melbourne
 Sunflower House at Merritt Square Mall, Merritt Island
 Pet SuperMarket, Merritt Island
 Renninger’s Flea & Farmers Market, Melbourne
Along with hosting these major fundraisers, we generated the following
revenue for the organization:
 Tuxes & Tails Gala - $37,713
 Paws at the Pier - $7,045
 Paws in the Park - $1,578
 Fore Paws Golf Tournament - $9,008
 Mardi Gras Paws in the Park - $3,365
 Paws on the Catwalk Fashion Show - $23,682

1 Letter from thePresident Good Afternoon, Thank you for once again giving me the opportunity to serve as President of the Brevard Humane Society. As most of you are aware, I truly love all animals but especially hold dear to my heart domesticated animals since their health and happiness depends on what organizations like ours do for them. Our Board this year has worked well together to make this happen. Soon our new laundry room will be complete at the main Shelter/ Adoption Center in Cocoa and plans are already underway to start construction of a Pet Hotel at the Merritt Island Adoption Center in Merritt Island. I am very thankful to one of our past Board members, Sheriff Wayne Ivey, for stepping up and helping us turn our county into a “No Kill County”. I never thought a county shelter would even come close but they now boast a live release rate of almost 60%! Under the direction of Theresa Clifton, our Executive Director, and the many tireless hours put in by our staff and volunteers, we have been successful in placing close to 95% of the animals in our care in their new “Forever Homes”. I am looking forward to the day when there isn’t a need for any shelters in Brevard County or elsewhere in the United States. Maybe then we can start working with the rest of the world in finding homes for all ani- mals in need of a Forever Home ! Thank you for letting me serve for such a worthy cause. Sincerely, Sandi Trudeau President, Board of Directors Sandi Trudeau

2 Mission Statement The BrevardHumane Society provides animal welfare shelters and programs that foster a humane ethic toward all animals. We also strive to deepen the community’s commitment to spaying and neutering, as well as the adoption of homeless companion animals. We believe this to be essential to achieving our purpose of humane care and treatment of all animals, and to attain a “no-kill” community. Founded in 1952, the Brevard Humane Society is the community's oldest established animal welfare group. Deeply rooted in Brevard, the Humane Society is a local leader in the “no kill” movement, and is dedicated to “speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves”. Self-sustaining, receiving no support from tax dollars; all funding comes through donations, adoption fees, product sales at the “Low Cost” Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic, Molly Mutt Thrift Shops, Merritt Island Adoption Center, Rainbow Bridge Chapel & cremation services, fundraisers and other pet related services. 2014 - 2015 Board of Directors President: Sandi Trudeau, Sunny Beach Rentals Vice President: Robert Smith, SGT, Inc. Treasurer: Dianne George, Brevard Nature Alliance, Inc. Secretary: Justin Ward, Lockheed Martin Directors: Julie Clover, Community Credit Union Michelle Earltinez, CVT, Eastern Florida State College Dennis Gollehon, Dennis Gollehon, P.A. As we winddown to the end of 2015, I feel most grateful for the help we have received this past year from the community for the homeless animals. Several milestones come to mind, the most important one is our live release rate hit an all-time high of a little better than 95%! The significance is stagger- ing when you compare that to 2003 when we had a dismal 26% that made it out alive! We are also very proud of the activities our County leaders have taken that further supports Brevard County working toward a “No-Kill” status, that being with the Sheriff taking over Animal Services. Under his direction, they have increased visibility & adoptions and improved the facilities at the County Shelters! We are helping them by taking as many animals as we can each month so they can reduce their numbers that are euthanized, and we have them attend as many of our sponsored events as possible. The numbers are very positive for this effort as they euthanized less than 6,000 last year (which is a FAR cry from 2013’s numbers that were over 15,000!). We feel confident this trend will continue to benefit the homeless animals for years to come. Don’t forget to buy your Spay/Neuter Car tag! Thanks to the State of Florida Animal Friends $25,000 Grant, we successfully altered over 1,200 community and low-income cats! This alone has prevent- ed thousands of cats from being born already! More of these type efforts will be seen in our future so keep a look out! The Low-Cost Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic continues to grow as the need for these services increases in a down economy. We continue to renovate the Shelter on Cox Road as our new Laundry Room is in the build phase as I write these words! May sound boring to many but the staff and volunteers at the Shelter are so happy to see that coming (working in the existing Laundry room is quite a challenge!). Completion of this project will domino revamping the current Laundry Room into a Vet Room for the animals to be examined and vaccinated. Then, the current Vet Room will transform into the Stray Kitty Room so our feline friends don’t have to go through the dog kennel area and get stressed out when lost kitty’s come to stay with us. The Merritt Island Adoption Center continues to be a safe haven for small dogs and cats. The small dogs get adopted much faster there as they do not feel threatened as much as in the big Kennel area at the Shelter. The annual Tuxes & Tails Gala “Black & White with a Touch of Red” held in August was a sell-out! We had a few adoptions from this event as well as raising $50,000 to help the animals in our care with future builds. Our current plans include a “Premier Pet Hotel” for boarding and day care, so when you are on vacation, your pet will have a “staycation”. We are currently finalizing the layout in the design process and hope to be under construction within the upcoming year. We were again blessed by the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce, Business Champion of the Year Award (2014), with another special recognition by Senator Bill Posey. This award exem- plifies the hard work and dedication put forth by all of my staff and volunteers. I could not be more proud of their efforts and was honored to receive the award for the second year in a row for the Or- ganization. I cannot emphasize enough that education is the key… pet owners need to acknowledge the prob- lem and spread the word for spaying and neutering. For now, we are offering low-cost cat and dog spay/neutering along with wellness vaccinations so everyone can keep their pets healthy. I would like to “thank” the Board of Directors, my staff and the many “unsung heroes” who have ei- ther donated money or their time to help our fight. Without you, we would not be able to succeed, and in the end, it is only the animals that suffer if we are not successful. Let’s keep it going, just for them! Regards, Theresa Clifton Executive Director Executive Director’s Message 3

The Brevard HumaneSociety’s main goal has been to be a leader for animal welfare in Brevard by caring for “unwanted and abandoned” animals while providing humane education, spaying/neutering and wellness checks to the public for their pets. Our organization does its part to help end pet overpopulation in Brevard County by providing the public “low cost” services at our “Low Cost” Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic. These services include spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinations, nail trims, heartworm tests & prevention, deworming, ear cleaning & mite treatment, basic exams, fecal examinations and flea & tick treatment programs for pets. The number of visitors at the: 2014 2015 Adoption Centers  Cocoa 8,512 8,317  Merritt Island 3,187 2,418 The Molly Mutt Thrift Shops in Melbourne, Merritt Island, Palm Bay & Rockledge have continued to experience a continuous flow of donations and sales at their shops. One of the best ways we have to inform & educate the public about the overwhelming amount of homeless animals in Brevard is through our Adoption Programs. Monthly, we participate in a variety of community outreach events, as well as our reoccurring monthly events. Other programs and services we offer to the community include Cash for Trash Program; Cremation & Euthanasia Services; Foster & Rescue Program; HEARTS Program; Lost & Found Pet Service; Membership Program; Paws & Stripes Program; Rainbow Bridge Community Chapel Services; “Spay It” Forward Program; T.L.C. Program; Precious Paws Story Time Program; and our Volunteer Program. These types of community events & programs enable the Brevard Humane Society to promote both Adoption Centers, as ideal locations for finding “unconditional love” by adopting a homeless pet. Volunteering The heart ofa volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of animals. Our volunteers are key components in the success of our organization. These individuals (known as “Society Ambassadors”) are a major part of making our community a safe and more humane area for homeless animals. Volunteers make the jobs of everyone working for animals a little easier by lending a much needed hand, helping to educate the public and spreading the message of responsible pet ownership and animal protection. The Brevard Humane Society could not do what we do without the assistance of many dedicated “Society Ambassadors”. Over the past year, our volunteers logged 26,342 hours of service doing countless events and fundraisers for us. On a monthly basis, we continue to host offsite pet adoption events like:  Foo Dog Days at Foo Bar, Melbourne  Sunflower House at Merritt Square Mall, Merritt Island  Pet SuperMarket, Merritt Island  Renninger’s Flea & Farmers Market, Melbourne Along with hosting these major fundraisers, we generated the following revenue for the organization:  Tuxes & Tails Gala - $37,713  Paws at the Pier - $7,045  Paws in the Park - $1,578  Fore Paws Golf Tournament - $9,008  Mardi Gras Paws in the Park - $3,365  Paws on the Catwalk Fashion Show - $23,682 Join us in recognizing these “Society Ambassadors” who devote a huge portion of their time to our cause:  Luz Litton, 900 Hours Molly Mutt IV Thrift Shop  Marion Hansen, 663 Hours Molly Mutt II Thrift Shop  Eddie Brinkley, 658 Hours Molly Mutt IV Thrift Shop  Dick Mazza, 649 Hours Molly Mutt IV Thrift Shop  Rich Carpenter, 640 Hours Brevard Humane Society & Community Events  Sandy Coleman, 624 Hours Molly Mutt IV Thrift Shop  Pam Misson, 600 Hours Molly Mutt II Thrift Shop  Mary Brown, 560 Hours Molly Mutt II Thrift Shop  Barbara Brace, 466 Hours Molly Mutt III Thrift Shop  Diana Mercer, 449 Hours Brevard Humane Society 8
