Analysis Of Henrik Wolff s Bullet s The Brain
Imagine death. What happens in your final moments? Are you going to think about your loved ones
or just simply reminisce on one of the happiest moments of your existence? What would be your
very final thought to think? The short story, Bullet in the Brain , is a very intriguing, well
articulated fictional writing piece that captures what happens in the split second of death through
the main characterAnders. Written by Tobias Wolff
, the story follows a man who finds the clichГ©
in anything and his final thoughts of his life as a bullet is moving through his brain. Saying I
enjoyed this story would be the understatement of the century. The short storyis purely brilliant and
one of the most thought provoking stories I have read in a while. The story takes place inside an
old pompous bank building. Anders, a book critic, cannot make it to the bank until right before
closing time so, of course, the line is long and the women he gets stuck waiting in line behind
puts him in the worst mood possible. Anders is a man who has critiqued the beauty out of life
and in turn has let it turn him bitter. Anders could not be any more irritated while waiting in line
because the teller decides to neglect her job to flirt with a man. Instead of taking his anger out on
the bank teller, he takes it out on two ladies in front of him who were just trying to make
conversation. But in the blink of an eye, everything changes and a plot twist occurs. Suddenly two
men in ski masks are attempting

The Multiplier Online Games ( Mog )
1. Introduction:
Multiplier Online Games (MOG) are one kind of real time applications. These are developed
using either centralized architecture (Client Server Architecture) also known as traditional
architecture or using distributed architecture (Peer to Peer Architecture). Some games are
developed using a combination of these two architectures known as Mirrored Server
Architecture (Hsu, Ling, Li, Kuo, 2003). In general, games are two types. One is role based
playing games where players role is fixed. Other is real time strategy based games where player s
actions dynamic. The Quake, Galaxy Star Wars, EVE, Warcraft are some examples of multiplayer
online games (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). For entertainment purpose and for a virtual experience,
people are showing greater interest in MOG. In recent years, organizations started to using
distributed architecture or Peer to Peer (P P) architecture for developing MOG due to its
robustness, scalability, and flexibility. The well known traditional client serverarchitecture has
limited scalability and robustness and it requires the high cost to maintain servers when online
players are massive (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004).
The MOG requires two kinds of platforms. One is physical platform contain hardware and network.
Another is logical platform focuses on system architecture such as software development for
players and hosts according to hardware management. The theme of the logical platform is

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cold Sores
Don t wait to administer the cold sore home remedies after your blisters break out heavily. Start
using the remedies when you notice the tingling feeling.
Effective Cold Sore Home Remedies
It may be your time to try cold sore home remedies after other formal treatments have not fully
solved the problem. These sores are such a nuisance they go for a season and come back a gain.
This time, I thing we need more determined or robust home remedies for cold sores to deal with this.
Cold sores, sometimes called fever blisters, are small blisters that come up around the mouth and
nostrils.
They usually appear toward the end of a cold. The virus that causes cold sores is known as herpes
simplex virus. Most of us have natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

cupboard for a day where the temperature is not more that 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Clean up you cold sore and make sure it is dry and apply a drop to it about twice a day until the
sore is gome.
Vitamins are always necessary
L lysine is a major booster
There is an amino acid called arginine which helps the herpes virus to multiply. This arginine can
be conquered by another amino acid called L lysine which prevents the cold sores to spread. This
L lysine, is an essential amino acid which is necessary for human health but the body can t
manufacture it; it has to be gotten from food.
Use the L lysine vitamins and supplements as suggested by the label. The dosages vary for a new
outbreak or preventive purposes.
Zinc plays important role in many things
Zinc helps the immune system to resist cold sores. It also strengthens the epithelial tissue on the
lips and the inside of the mouth to prevent cold sores from getting some foothold.
Observe the suggestion on the label and take as recommended. Many herbal specialists
recommend taking 3 mg of copper with it to reduce and prevent the recurrence of cold sore.

John Booth and Frederick Weyerhaeuser Essay
Lumber Kings of the 19th Century John R. Booth and Frederick Weyerhaeuser
John Rudolphus Booth (1827 1925) and Frederick Weyerhaeuser (1843 1914) were two well known
entrepreneurs of the North American lumber industry in the 19th century. They are very contrasting
characters that appear to have nothing in common. They are from different parts of the world; Booth
is Canadian and Weyerhaeuser is German. They did not share the same faith or educational
background. Booth was Presbyterian and went to a local county school. Weyerhaeuser was
Protestant and went to a Lutheran school till the age of fourteen. One might look at them and

former prime minister, Arthur Meighen, had said that Booth s quiet generosity, and his sincerity

In contrast to John R. Booth, we now look at the work and personality of Frederick
Weyerhaeuser respectively. Weyerhaeuser had been 18 when he moved to America from
Germany in 1852. He settled in Erie County, Pennsylvania after he landed in America with his
mother and sister. He got his first job at a brewery and then later at a farm. He moved to the
Rocky Island where he got the job of night fireman at a sawmill. He got his first breakthrough
here when he was appointed the position of manager when the owners opened a new lumber yard.
In 1860, Weyerhaeuser formed a partnership with his wife s brother in law, Frank C. A.
Denkmann. Weyerhaeuser acquired a sawmill situated on land along the Mississippi River.
Weyerhaeuser and his partner took on sixteen other partners to form the Mississippi River Logging
Company and by 1870 he was elected president of this company. Weyerhaeuser saw the prospect of
lumber companies in the West and opened the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company which had its
headquarters in Tacoma, Washington. Weyerhaeuser had more of a participative managerial style
and his business prospered through his many partnerships with his fellow businessmen. He was

Tracheostomy Essay
A tracheostomy is performed when the patients having a hard time breathing for a long duration
of time due to blockage of airway. This can lead to respiratory failure. During the tracheostomy
procedure, an incision is placed on a tracheal ring and a tube is inserted through the windpipe to
open any restricted airway. The tracheostomy can be used for emergency to help or can also be
used with other disease to regulate normal breathing. For example, cancer of the throat or birth
defect of the airway. If the patient has the tracheostomy for a short period of time then the tubing
will leave minimal scarring. However, if it is for a long period of time the patient will need to go
through therapy.

Background Checks Are The Most Effective Way Of Preventing...
Background checks are the most effective way of preventing gun crimes. There are multiple cases
of school and community shootings and how it could be prevented if there were some sort of
system to catch perpetrators. Gun violence has been an issue since the 1970s and started to peak in
the 1980s and 1990s. GunViolence is violence committed with the use of a gun and recently there
has been an increase in gun crimes, but due to background checks they have decreased. A
background check is the process of looking up and compiling criminal records, commercial
records and financial records of an individual or an organization. It is proven that background
checks reduce homicide and suicides and background checks are the most effective way to reduce
gun related crimes. Background checks are only as effective as the person or company doing it, so
when a gun company fails to complete a proper background check, they should be held accountable
for the customer s actions.
Backgrounds checks are the most effective way of preventing gun related crimes. A study, done by
the National Library of Medicine, examines the relationship between the types of background
information check required by states prior to firearm purchases, and firearm deaths and the results
of the study concluded that more background checks are associated with fewer deaths. The Brady

The Holocaust And The Bosnian Genocide
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines the word genocide as the killing of people who belong
to a particular racial, political, or cultural group (Merriam). But aren t genocides much more then
that? Over the past hundred years, there have been several attempted genocides around the world.
Two of the most well known genocides are the Holocaust (the Nazi s attempt to destroy the Jewish
people) and the Bosnian genocide (the Serbians attempt to destroy the Bosnian population). This
paper analyzes a political cartoon relating to genocides, describes the events that led to the
Holocaust and the Bosnian genocide, describes several similarities and differences between them
and explains why genocides continue regardless of the saying, Never Again . I. Cartoon
Interpretation The cartoon is a commentary about the United Nations unsuccessful efforts to stop
genocide. These efforts began in the 1940s: Nearly 60 years ago, the international community
made a commitment to put an end to the crime of genocide by ratifying the United Nations
Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. (Hastings) As noted in
the cartoon, however, the United Nations efforts have not succeeded. The cartoon shows a
tremendous amount of skeleton heads. These skeleton heads could refer to all of the people who
have been killed in genocides around the world. It also shows approximately 15 graves above the
skeleton heads. The graves include the names of different places

Survival In Shawshank Redemption
Conflict, pain, and struggle compose the gritty truth that walks beside everyone in life and opens
the door to death. Many will succumb to this unnerving truth, while others will fight with a
passion to survive. In most situations, survival may sound like the only reasonable option.
However, survival has proven itself to be both a primitive instinct and a tenuous dream. The
immensity at which this struggle occurs, makes it a very real and predominant issue that is
transparent in many artistic works such as Man s Search for Meaning, Shawshank Redemption,
and The Book Thief. The characters in these works survived their many perils of imprisonment by
finding meaning, grasping hope, and having a will to live on. Firstly, Man s Search for Meaning,
by Viktor E. Frankl, illustrated the many struggles that come with living in a concentration camp.
In this book, Viktor Frankl also described that he lost his manuscript that contained his life s work
and he stated that my deep desire to write this manuscript anew helped me to survive the rigors of

Hope is also an incredibly motivating factor which has been proven by the movie Shawshank
Redemption by Frank Darabont. In this movie, Andy was wrongfully imprisoned for murder. In
prison he faced many challenges, such as violence and the many struggles of prison life itself.
Despite all of this, Andy was able to survive because he had hope in his future. In the movie,
Andy spoke to Red about his dream of one day owning a boat and running a hotel down in
Mexico. With this hope, he was able to dig a tunnel through the wall of his cell and escape the
prison in order to chase this dream (Darabont). This hope not only helped him to survive, but to
conquer. It is due to his hope that he was able to survive every day and push for his dream to
become a reality. In this movie, hope has proven to be a great motivator for

Centrust Bank Essay
CenTrust Bank Scandal
CenTrust, first called Dade Federal Savings and Loan, was founded in 1934 during the Great
Depression and eventually became a stalwart of the South Florida business establishment. By the
early 1980s, Miami had a corporate community that any city would envy. The companies were
large and growing. They contributed mightily to local causes. They virtually invented a skyline
where none existed as late as the early 1980s. CenTrust Bank and David Paul gave huge sums of
money and much effort toward founding the New World Symphony in the 1980s. But the local
corporate world was shaken badly at that time. In South Florida, home of fragile physical, social

Thrifts suffered more than mutual funds, because they were clogged with battered Drexel
underwritten issues.
The episode marks the first time a financial institution has been brought down primarily because
of its involvement in the junk bond market. CenTrust reported a $119.5 million loss for its fiscal
year ended Sept. 30, 1989, after writing down a ton of junk and reserving for losses. Under thrift
rules, CenTrust needs about $130 million of equity capital but currently has an equity shortage of
$283 million.
After all this happen, CenTrust planned to sell most of its branches to raise capital and create a
separate unit to hold its junk until maturity to avoid turning accounting losses on bonds real losses.
Months later, they planned to merge with Hamilton Holding Co., but neither the sale of its branches
nor the merge gotten executed.
CenTrust Bank, the non operational Miami savings and loan that invested heavily in junk bonds,
also invested heavily in political candidates. The thrift s chairman, David Paul, also had dozens of
meetings and meals with politicians, most of them Democrats. The get togethers included a June
1988 lunch with former President Carter and seven meetings with Florida Rep. Bill Nelson, a
member of the Banking Committee.
Just how far CenTrust s fortunes had deteriorated became clear in December 1989, when the
Office of Thrift Supervision slapped a cease and desist order on the thrift, attacking its sloppy

Sea Venture In The Tempest
As described in the Arden edition of The Tempest, despite its beautiful visual wonders, not so
much happens (Vaughan 2) in this relatively short Shakespearean play. However, it had become a
symbol of the English Explorations during Shakespeare s life time a period of geological,
governmental, and artistic discoveries. In this regard, the story of Sea Venturethrough the Bermuda
islands, is very often told, since it is the inspiration of The Tempest. The story and the play are very
closely related that a significant part of the story made it into the writing of the play. The story

Frankly, it is very difficult to see peace and even civilized manners in the English society back
then. People would argue every time, though they survived an enormous accident together;
stealing each others goods were so prevalent; the place where they thought was safely colonized
had, in fact, almost completely disappeared. However, we, as people from 2015, would be able
to understand Shakespeare, who insisted to make this disastrous story as a play, because the
story itself is so fascinating. It, ironically, is a great pleasure to see the English struggling to face
the new world coming at them. It seems like their trait of willing to discover makes the story
interesting. It is how they are not avoiding the challenges that make us want to see more about
how they are going to overcome those challenges and engages us further into the story. This
perhaps is the reason why the story is so often told until these days. It gives us a clear idea about
what lives were like in the Age of Explorations during England how they were struggling, but
desiring. In this regard, it isn t strange for us to wonder if Shakespeare merely wanted to retell this
journey. Shakespeare must have been impressed after reading Strachey s writings. It perhaps was
written in the hopes that the readers could take away something from the English back then from
their open, active attitudes towards challenges. We,

and describe the consequence of the Battle of Sarajevo and its violations of human law. Sarajevo is
the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city s name is derived from Seraglio , meaning palace in

An attempt to control the streets and people would thus lead to catastrophic failure. The Sarajevo
Romanija Corps instead resorted to continuously bombarding the city from the surrounding hills in
order to stay in control.
It is in this environment that The Cellist of Sarajevo takes place. Resources are scarce and
enemy snipers gun down citizens. Within Sarajevo there lives a cellist who was famous before
the war. One day as the Cellist watches people line up outside his window to buy food, a mortar
shell lands in the middle of the group, killing 22 of them. The Cellist vows to play Albonini s
Adagio in the crater created from the bombing for 22 days, one day for each of the dead.
Arrow is another inhabitant of the city. She is a sniper who was recruited to protect the Cellist and
defend him from enemy snipers who might gun him down. The constant barrage inspires her to
use her abilities to save lives. The character of Kenan contrasts with Arrow. The bombardment
has left him terrified of the city he lives in. Every four days he makes a dangerous trip across
town to fetch water for his family. He also fetches water for his neighbor, an old woman who
doesn t seem to appreciate the risk he puts himself through for her. During his journey, he is

Comparing The Congruence Of Shakespeare And Montaigne
The Congruence of Shakespeare and Montaigne Envision living in a nation that has achieved the
paramount form of society, one that is ideal in its ethical, social, and political facets. Simple to
imagine but impossible to replicate, and that is, according to Plato s Theory of Forms, because the
physical world is a poor copy of these ideas, these forms, even the ones closest to perfection are
imperfect. That is why a utopia can not be attained in reality. Although, in Montaigne s Of
Cannibals, it is proposed that the natural state is the closest to accomplishing this. The ideas set

Caliban is subjected to a way of thought that is utterly new to him, given to him from Miranda
and Propsero, and it is said by Montaigne that those who think and act in these way are savage, not
just those who they imposed these ideas upon simply because in their eyes they were deemed as
savage. Even though Caliban is a slave to Prospero and had wicked notions towards him, it is only
because his natural state was altered, which can sometimes lead to an opposite effect than intended.
Montaigne also describes that a nation that is closest to perfection is one with no knowledge of
political systems, letters, numbers etcetera, and Shakespeare concurs with this through representing
it in Gonzalo, who contemplates that if he had the island to rule, he would rule congruently with
Montaigne s belief. The characters of Caliban and Gonzalo both represent Shakespeare s agreement

Industrial Organizational Psychology
The medical profession is one of the most crucial professions in any country, including the United
States. As such, it is ideal to refine processes and practices in order to maximize the output of
employees within this profession. Although such an outcome is desired of any sort of organization
that industrial organizational psychologists work in, it is pivotal to achieve this objective in the
medical profession for the simple fact that the result of medical procedures directly affects the health
and vitality of the profession at large. Industrial organizational psychologists improve workplace
conditions for employees (No author, 2013). Thus, there is increased scrutiny on industrial
organizational psychologists and there work within the medical field which may account for the
fact that traditionally, there are very few I O psychologists working in health care settings (Ehler et
al, 2003).
However, this traditional dearth of industrial organizational involvement in this industry only makes
that which has been documented all the more valuable. A recent research study on resuscitation for
children conducted at the University of Calgary illustrates how some medical organizations have
used industrial organizational psychology to train employees and influence future selection criteria
for them. During this particular study, employees involved in these procedures are trained in a

Managing Change
Ladislas Rice
1969 1975
1) When Rice took over as CEO at Burtons in 1969, the men s clothing industry was beginning
to have a higher demand. Due to the Beatle s era during the 60 s, men became more fashion
conscience. Up in till Rice was appointed, Burton s menswear specialised in made to measure
suits but young males were buying more ready to wear clothes. Competition was becoming
stronger, coming from Italian designers, which offered ready to wear suits and more colourful
casual clothes. Not only were these garments ready to wear but also they were less expensive to
buy. This was becoming a serious problem for Burtons and changes had to be made.

the slump in demand in Britain. Another acquisition was Evans Outside, which had 76 shops and
computerised stock control systems, which could help Burtons menswear deal with larger stocks
with increased productivity due to the move into ready to wear clothes. Also with the takeover the
retail skills of Cyril Spencer were acquired. Further acquisitions included Ryman Conram and Green

Kant And Kant s Metaphysical Theorizing
Kant s metaphysical theorizing was in large part focused on the matter of how synthetic a priori
judgements were possible. For Kant, the question of how synthetic a priori judgements operated
was central to understanding the nature of human thinking, and to enabling metaphysics.
Previously Kant had been alerted to the writings of David Hume. Hume had effectively claimed
that knowledge only came from analytic a priori judgments or by synthetic a posteriori. Hume
criticized the notion of cause and effect, and claimed it to be product of conventions of thought,
rather than reason. Kant had recognized that if Hume s claims were to be regarded and applied to
other key concepts, that it would undermine the basis of metaphysics; due the criticisms ability to
be applied to many other key notions of the world. Since metaphysics was being called into
question, and it seemed that people were not making progress in metaphysical understanding in the
way the sciences seemed to have been doing, Kant figured that he needed to discern away in which
metaphysics was possible, and could be established as a science.
Kant begins by considering how metaphysics could be determined. This would involve figuring its
object, sources of cognition, and /or type of cognition. Firstly, metaphysics must be non empirical,
and its principles and basic ideas must not be derived from experience. Thus, metaphysics must be a

1984 A Dystopian Society Essay
The astounding book 1984 is a dystopian novel written by the famous English author George
Orwell. Winston Smith, the main character, faces thoughtcrime, sexcrime, and Room 101 in the
mind bending, teeth clenching story. The novel follows Winston as he takes his journey of life in
the war ridden, filthy, Oceania. His enemy: The Party. The Party, the power that governs Oceania,
tends to make life seem sweet and savory, when in reality, it is disgusting. Poverty, filth, death, and
hate fill the society. War is constant. Hate towards the enemy is a daily routine. And nothing, nor
no one, is in favor of the people. The Party imagines Oceania as a utopian society, but Winston, and
the Party both know that it is a true dystopia. The form of government practiced in Oceania is
totalitarianism. This form of government can be best described as a dictatorship. It is total control
of all societal factors, the law, the economy, the church, the people, and in this case, thought. The
Party uses this to their advantage. By having full control, they can manipulate and use the people to
their full benefit. It can be easily agreed that in a dystopian society, the government s intentions are
not benevolent, but instead, self serving.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people of Oceania are not allowed to think thoughts that may be against the Party. They
must support the Party and love Big Brother. Telescreens are located in every home and in public
to watch the actions of every citizen. A simple twitch, facial expression, or motion can indicate
that someone is not loyal to the party. If caught, the people will be dragged away to the Ministry
of Love, and no one knows what happens there except its victims. The Party is selfish. They want
everyone to be on their side. They are self serving. The people are the slaves to the party. They
have no freedom, because Freedom is

The Bouquet Of Flowers And The Frying Pan
The Bouquet of Flowers and the Frying Pan
They are just simple inanimate objects, items, things, whatever we want to call them, but it is up to
us for those objects to become animate, giving them attention and importance in our lives and we
become dependent on those objects. In the introduction of the book Taking Things Seriously: 75
Objects with Unexpected Significance by Joshua Glenn and Carol Hayes, Glenn talks about how
different groups in our society criticize each other over commodity fetishes even though they are
guilty themselves. We are always looking for different objects to fill the emptiness of our lives and
give to them more importance should they really have. Glenn mentions the success anthropologist
Lyall Watson describes any inanimate objectwhich... demands attention and exercises power over
those people whom it appeals , like in the stories of Genesis Cabrera and Josh Ozersky making
the object vital in their lives. The stories have few similarities in some of the aspects, of
provenance, properties and essence. I think Cabrera s story will not make it to the second edition
of the book since her unexpected significant object doesn t covert the criteria what there are
looking for in the book even though there are some similarities, but I don t believe the essence is
strong enough. Ozersky s story its full of memories and feelings, the frying pan had a decade of

Akan Drum
The perspective of the American slave trade as taught in school, often finds its point of reference
from what has been written by the Anglo Saxons and other European countries. To come across
what it is the slaves saw and felt and the persecution that they experienced, the oral passing of the
experiences they had is mostly all that historians obtain in regards to the slave s experiences.
Though, a single object, an Akan drum, helps to tell their story not with words, but with the
rhythm of their trials. African participation in the slave trade, consisted of two groups of African
people: those who were sold as slaves, and those who captured slaves in order to trade with
European countries for goods. Slaves were not able to bring items with... Show more content on

The drum was something so much more than an instrument; it was their life line to their roots and
the only thing they had from their land. The drums also played a fundamental part of slave culture
and community once when they arrived to America. The use of drums was a source of
entertainment but also began to be used to announce rebellion against the plantation owners. The
cultures of Europe and Africa were merged together through the slave trade; often slave owners
would have sexual relations with slaves and have children that began the merging of these two
cultures. Moreover, this drum had a unique characteristic of being stretched over the drum in
North American deer skin. The relationship between Native Americans and African Americans is
often not discussed, but is seen through this drum due to the use of deer skin. Intermarriage
between Natives and the slaves was quite common and shows once again the mixing of cultures. A
simple drum conceived in the wild of Africa, shares its silent story of the hidden lives of the slaves
of North America. It melody mixed three cultures that are now one, and the beating of modern
drums in jazz and blues gives reminder of a culture that once in bondage but now enjoys the rhythm

Stevenson Create a Sense of Mystery and Horror in Mr Hyde and Dr Jekyll In this essay I am
going to look at Mr Hyde and Dr Jekyll, the first two chapters, and explain using quotes and
information from these chapters how the writer creates a sense of mystery and horror. I will be
focussing on the descriptions given about the characters and the house which plays a significant
part in this story. This novel is about a highly classed doctor of science, named Dr Jekyll. Dr
Jekyll is a very clever professor who makes a mixture of chemicals, which can turn him into a
totally different person for a short period of time. This power to become someone else lets Dr
Jekyll live two different lives, without... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A man of a rugged countenance that was never lighted by a smile This could suggest to the
reader that Mr Utterson is a grim or evil character, which creates a sense of mild horror and
mystery already about this character. Now the writer again informs the reader about uttersons
look, lean, long, dusty, and dreary. This could imply that utterson is a creepy dark person,
therefore again creating a sense of horror and mystery about him. This sense of mystery is
portrayed again by Stevenson, in the way he describes uttersons lifestyle and personality. He
never marked a shade of change in his demeanour. This makes utterson sound like an old
fashioned, cold hearted man, therefore creating a sense of mystery. Now the reader has been told
of uttersons looks and what his personality is like, now the writer informs the reader about
uttersons stature and influence on people around him. The last good influence of the lives of
down going men. This foreshadows what is going to happen later on in the novel and that Mr
Utterson may be involved, this creates a sense of mystery and horror about what is to come. These
quotations about the lawyer, utterson, from the opening page, act as an early piece of
foreshadowing because why else would Stevenson want to tell the reader these facts about

Essay about The Subculture of Scuba Divers
The focus of this research paper is to analyze the information, unique characteristics, and history
regarding the subculture of scuba divers. Scuba divers get to explore new, exciting, and
breathtaking regions in the ocean that many people never get to experience in their whole lives.
Scuba divers hold important roles in society because of the discoveries they make on a daily basis.
They provide much needed research that is important in the scientific community regarding newly
discovered marine species. Scuba divers get the opportunity to explore exceptionally beautiful ocean
features that include shipwrecks, coral reefs, and other stunning tropical ocean regions. Many

As time progressed, the equipment that was used for scuba diving began to be perfected, and
many workout clubs began featuring classes to train people how to dive (Ed LaRochelle, 2009).
This allowed scuba diving to become a leisure activity that anyone could engage in (Ed
LaRochelle, 2009). Jacques Cousteau was a famous scuba diver who made many discoveries,
including many new innovative tools and equipment such as the aquatic lung (Ryan Spence,
2010). He also produced over 100 television episodes discussing the different aspects of scuba
diving along with his new inventions (Ryan Spence, 2010). Sylvia Earle was another
recognizable person in the field of scuba diving (Sue Vander Hook, 2001). She was a famous
figure because she was the first person ever to dive to two hundred and fifty feet breathing
compressed air in a Jim Suit, and she broke many records for deepest dives in submersibles (Sue
Vander Hook, 2001). Thirdly, Augustus Siebe created a diving suit that included a copper helmet
and rubber material for a more flexible suit (John Bantin, 2007). This invention by Siebe allowed
divers to dive to deeper depths into the ocean and explore more wrecks and ocean features (John
Bantin, 2007). Jacques Cousteau once said, Innovation is nothing more than the tool of the

Essay about Julia s Food Booth
Julia s Food Booth
Julia Robertson is a senior at Tech, and she s investigating different ways to finance her final
year at school. She is considering leasing a food booth outside the Tech stadium at home football
games. Tech sells out every home game, and Julia knows, from attending the games herself, that
everyone eats a lot of food. She has to pay $1,000 per game for a booth, and the booths are not
very large. Vendors can sell either food or drinks on Tech property, but not both. Only the Tech
athletic department concession stands can sell both inside the stadium. She thinks slices of cheese
pizza, hot dogs, and barbecue sandwiches are the most popular food items among fans and so these
are the items she would sell.

From this she has discovered that she can expect to sell at least as many slices of pizza as hot
dogs and barbecue sandwiches combined. She also anticipates that she will probably sell at least
twice as many hot dogs as barbecue sandwiches. She believes that she will sell everything she can
stock and develop a customer base for the season if she follows these general guidelines for demand.
If Julia clears at least $1,000 in profit for each game after paying all her expenses, she believes it
will be worth leasing the booth.

Managing Strategic Change at the Hmv Group
Managing Strategic Change At The HMV Group |
1. IntroductionHMV Group announced a three year strategic and operational review in March
2007. The primary purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the methods used to manage this
strategic change and to discuss alternatives. The secondary focus is to assess the decision to
change. At a time of change, much focus is placed upon developing strategy and not enough on the
implementation and management side. It is possible that a perfect strategy for a situation is wasted
by poor implementation. A specific strategy can be developed over night, however; successful
strategy implementation is a much longer process. In order to analyse HMV Group s change
management efforts, it is crucial to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ParadoxThere are many paradoxical issues present in change management. Just one manifestation
of this would be middle managers withholding information they are given to disseminate because
they wish to retain their knowledgeable image; defeating the point of a middle manager. Michael E
Raynor (2007) in his book entitled The Strategy Paradox presents the idea that a successful strategy
requires the full commitment of the organisation, which leads to unsuccessful performance overall;
due to over commitment. Flood and Dresher s (1950) Prisoners Dilemma, applied to the world of
business, will also conclude that non competition is the most effective path in the long run. Both
imply that strong competition efforts eventually lead to failure that mediocrity is the best route to
follow as companies have a silent agreement to operate in a state of equilibrium. However, in the
case of HMV Group, its operating industry is in decline; therefore failure is the only eventuality of
a failure to compete. ContextAs identified above, much of the literature on the subject of managing
strategic change has an element of paradox attached to it. The logical reason for this is that
different methods depend on the circumstances the organisation is faced with. As there are no exact
laws of change management, this is what makes the subject complex; but more interesting. Most of
the literature aims to provide a theory for each and every eventuality;

The Chernobyl Explosion
Many Russian political heads have claimed, RBMK plants...will never be built again, largely due to
safety concerns of the past and current reactors [10]. As discussed previously the RBMK s had
several reactor features that made it difficult to justify their operation. Most importantly, the
reactors generated excess neutrons during operation which upon further study led to the super
criticality that caused the Chernobyl explosion. While Russia suggests that the explanation of the
plants failure was ultimately only due to the failure to follow safe operations of shutdown
procedures, other studies performed post incident suggest that the reactors were inherently
technologically unsafe [11]. The most significant issue with the RBMKdesign was... Show more

Despite these modifications, the RBMK reactors continue to have problems. One site in particular,
the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, has had multiple issues in the last few years. In 2013, the
graphite moderator was operating improperly due to deformities and cracks in its graphite
moderator core. These types of moderator failures have the potential to lead to larger problems,
such as the ones identified after the Chernobyl incident. Therefore, the reactor was shut down for
an 18 month period in order to repair the deformed moderator [12]. The 18 month project included
research and experimentation with reactor operating and monitoring procedures, and will lead to
the discovered solutions implementation on all existing RBMK reactors in the future. Despite this
solution, the Leningrad RBMKs shut down again for multiple days in October 2015 due to a minor
storm that blew seaweed into the reactor s water supply intake [13]. The reactor faced no issues
except for minor production delays and its automatic SCRAM procedures went off without issue;
however, the fact that a minor natural occurrence caused a shutdown of the reactor raised eyebrows
to the reactors true safety. It should be noted that water intake caused shutdowns have occurred
internationally, yet they face specific scrutinization when involved with the RBMK reactors [13].

Due to fears of safety, there are many who oppose the maintenance of RBMK reactors, especially at

I have advised Pastor Marc that due the questions about his time management they he might move
to a schedule more like the one I sent out the everyone during my time at St. Matthew. One that
would have specific times I was in meetings and not available to talk. This would also provide
key leadership with a report of How God is working through the things that Pastor Marc was
doing. He seemed resistant to that kind of reporting. It was my read on the situation that Pastor
Marc believed leaders should just trust that he is working hard. However, when trust is broken a
higher level of accountability is the only to begin to restore that. So that is still a point of great
tension at St. Matthew. Some leadership seems to indicate that they are paying a full time pastor
who is giving a part time job performance. Unfortunately, this is another area where there seems to
be not the way to gain consensus.
These three areas are at the heart of the troubles with Pastor Marc and St. Matthew. They have
caused a great deal of pain for all parties involved and I am not sure if there is a way to bring
healing and reconciliation without a major outside intervention.

attendance in worship on Sunday mornings. However, now that attendance is most Sunday s under

Iditarod Pros And Cons
Wshhhhh., the wind roars on the snowy Alaskan tundra. The Iditarod tends to spark some

one thousand and fifty mile race, starts in Anchorage, Alaska, where mushers compete to get to
Nome, Alaska with their 16 sled dogs. In this article we ll go over the pros and cons of sled dog
racing and my opinion on the topic. The Iditarod is long, and can sometimes even be dangerous
and cause injuries for the sled dogs. However, that s not to say that they re not strong, as, sled
dogs endurance often allows them to press on, says Cristen Conger, in spite of minor injuries. she

of running (Arnold, 1) and will run for miles on their own (Conger, 1). The sled dogs are bred for

Causes Of Anger After The Revolutionary Revolution
After months of anger in Boston, the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
fundamentally changed the relationship between the colonies of America and England. As riots
had occurred all over Boston after the passing of the Stamp Act many years earlier in 1765, anger
was destined to occur after the British Parliament passed the Tea Act in May of 1773. Like the
Stamp Act, the Tea Act was to be enforced. Angered at lost profits due to the East India Company
controlling the sell of tea in the colonies, the people of Boston destroyed the tea of the East India
Company in December of 1773. With the British Crown angry towards the anarchist Bostonians,
the British Parliament passed the Coercive Acts in order to punish the Bostonians.

Josie adapts to changes in a relatively short period of time which allows her to thrive in many

was basically just sprung upon Josie and her opinion was seemingly disregarded: That s how it
was when we lived in the city, where almost everyone was like me I blended in. Then with one

Reflection Of The Bible
Throughout the bible, and reading it once more by Marcus Borg, a common idea as it relates to a
religious experience, is that the Bible is a human product. Throughout chapter two, Borg
continuously describes the Bible as being a product of humans. He explains on page 22 that he sees
scripture through the lens of the Biblebeing a human product, meaning that it is the product of two
ancient communities (22). He believed that what the Bible explains things to be are words from the
communities of ancient Israel and the early Christian movement. We cannot talk about God(or
anything else) except with the words, symbols, stories, concepts, and categories known to us, for
they are the only language we have , made me think about the idea that... Show more content on

Borg believes that if you do not believe that the bible is either totally a divine or totally a human
product, then it compounds the confusion (26).
He believes that if we consider the bible both a divine and human product then we would be
harder to separate the divine aspects from the human. I would have to agree with Borg s stance.
For example, he presented his stance by using the Ten Commandments. People who believed that
both the bible is a divine and human product would believe that it came from God in that they are
his laws, however, the Commandments are written from a male s perspective. Being that they are
written from a male perspective, it presents the idea that they are human made. But, I do not agree
with the questions Borg stated towards the end of the section of human products. Borg believes that
we should not ask What is God saying? but rather ask, What is the ancient author or community
saying (28)?
Borg explains a term, precritical naivete, as being an early childhood state in which we listen to
whatever a significant authority figure tells us is true and untrue. He uses the story of Jesus birth
and how he took the facts that he gathered from the narrative told during Christmas for granted.
Like Borg, I never thought to think about how much of the stories that were told to me during
childhood, as narratives versus factual information.

Ludwig Van Beethoven s Life Of Ludwig Van Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven was a German pianist and composer who is widely considered to be the
greatest of all time, whose compositions consisted combinations of vocals and a vast amount of

Theme Of Marigolds
Adolescence is a bumpy and unknown section of the road known as life. Both the short story
Marigolds by Eugenia Collier and the poem Hard on the Gas, by Janet S. Wong relate to the
theme that the road to growing up and maturing isn t always smooth . Marigolds is the story of
an adolescent who is growing up in the Great Depression. Through hard experiences and
tumultuous emotions, the narrator learns that growing up is full of ups and downs. Hard on
the Gas is a poem about a grandchild driving with his or her grandfather. The grandchild realizes
that the road isn t always perfect and that there will be bumps along the way. The theme the road
growing up and maturing isn t always smooth is conveyed in both of these selection. In
Marigolds a young girl is growing up during the Great Depression. For Lizabeth, the narrator,
everyday is a challenge. As she transitions from an innocent, naive child to an aware, yet unsure
young woman, the smooth road she s been traveling on suddenly becomes bumpy and unfamiliar
when a fit of anger taken out on her neighbor marks Lizabeth s growing up. All the smoldering
emotions of that summer swelled in me and burst the great need for my mother who was never
there, the hopelessness of our poverty and degradation, the bewilderment of being neither child
nor woman and yet both at once... , (Collier, Marigolds ). All of the emotions that Lizabeth has
been holding in spill out of her in an audacious, violent action that will exile her childhood; the
destroying of Miss Lottie s prized marigolds. When Lizabeth realizes with remorse what she s
done, she gains the heavy burden of adulthood. In that humiliating moment I looked beyond myself
and into the depths of another person. This was the beginning of compassion, and one cannot have
both compassion and innocence , (Collier, Marigolds ). When Lizabeth conveys that Miss Lottie
had planted marigolds as a show of passion and hope, she becomes compassionate towards Miss
Lottie, ridding her of her childish innocence. While Hard on the Gas is minimally worded, the
meaning of the poem speaks volumes. The poem conveys growing up, and the fact that the road to
adulthood is not, in fact, smooth. Rush, rest, rush, rest ,

The development and proper application of an individuals mathematical ability is a complex
process that is comprised of many significant interrelating concepts that are demonstrated through
the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority s (ACARA) and its many strands
and sub strands. Numeracy most notably is vital to the development and teaching of Mathematics
and underpins many concepts including that of Number sense which is therefore also fundamental
to not only the development of mathematic, but also the success of the implementation of the
Australian curriculum.
Learners need to be cognitively and physically active in the learning of mathematics (Baturo, A ....)

Most of the penguins form new pair bonds each year, which means that they mate with another
penguin each breeding season. There is a study that says only about 14.6% pair of penguins stay
with the same mate each year. The male penguin arrives to their nest before the female penguin
does. Since there are more female penguins than male penguins, there will be major competitions
to get a female. To attract females, the male penguin will stand still, put their head on their
chest, inhales, and give out a courtship call. They keep this position for a few seconds before
moving to another position. To nest, both penguins travel to a colonial nesting area at around
March or early April and lay a single egg in May or early June. The single egg weighs about 460
or 467g. Once they lay an egg, the male penguin is in charge of incubating the egg while the
female penguins go back to an area to obtain food. The job of the male penguin is to keep the
egg protected from any danger and they also have to keep the egg between their legs so that it
can be warm. If the egg is exposed to the cold, the egg and baby penguin will die rapidly due to
the severe temperature of the Antarctic. It takes about 64 days for the egg to hatch and the age of
the fledging is about 150 days. Once the egg hatches, the female penguin comes back from bringing
food to the nesting area. The male penguin has been fasting for

Illustrate your answer in reference to your chosen case study country.
1.Definition of Globalization
After the cold war, word globalization was commonly used at a time of unprecedented
interconnectedness when advanced nations experienced a ruthless development by exploiting energy
resources and stressing culture forms in developing countries. To identify the definition of
globalization , it is significant to clarify its appearance as well as implication.
An outstanding mechanism frequently used to interpret Globalization is the World Economy .
Back to the colonial age, the coinstantaneous behaviors of worldwide capitals and energy resources

Moreover, western countries frequently made use of powerful foreign cultures as a tool to impose
upon the native cultures.
Thus, an irreconcilable contestation about the definition of globalization was often listed in
previous literatures. Opinions diversified in various realms and differed from optimistic to
pessimistic. The definition of globalization below illustrates the outwards manifestation of this
phenomenon and its implication a degree of homogenization.
Globalization is an irreversible tendency which implement an integration of economy, politics,
culture and technology regardless of the restrictions of time zones (distance) and national border
(space). International political economic structure has been changed through globalization, as more
countries with higher level of comprehensive national strength occupied leading positions.
Providing opportunities for individual countries to pursue its own national interests in a broader
market is of the essence of globalization.
From the historical globalist standpoint, globalization identified when people ultimately recognize
the impacts of the intensification of global issues. Several innovations, such as transportation
means, telecommunication systems and Internet facilitate the spread of internationalization.
Another possibly preconditions of globalization is that countries consciously initially participate in
a global market. However, is globalization what advanced

Mopar Racing (who supply all the parts). He s the number one drag car racer in Australia, as
well as holding the world record for the quickest time with a small block powered car and
naturally aspirated car for the quarter mile 6.87 seconds, clocked at a speed of 200.14mph. I
recently spoke to Lee about a few things; his childhood, and the reasons he became such a huge
car fan. He was born in Kyabram and moved to Melbourne when he was 5 years old, where he
was raised in St Albans. As cousins we naturally met as children, and for as long as I can
remember he has always had an affinity with cars and the faster the better. From a young age he
was either talking about cars, or reading the monthly edition of a car magazine, and to this day that

whole family to Melbourne most weekends, and would allow Lee to sit on his lap for the entire

father gave him his first car so when Lee received it he replaced the front end with a Holden

Sound and smell crowded Julios mind, pure ecstasy mixed with the over stimulation of thumping
music and free flowing drugs pushed his pupils wide and his pores open, his brow furrowed and
his mouth clenched into a dumb grin. With each bass filled kick of the music and flash of the cyan

along with the music, her outline dragging behind her motion leaving a line of rainbow outlines,

On the stout table in front of him there was a shot glass half filled with a viscous blue substance,
Slither, the best party drug ever found. He wrapped his hand around it and took another sip, the
melting colors suddenly shifting from blobs of rainbow to fractals, replicating out into infinity.
What was once a table or a dancing woman became a infinite projection of colors and sounds,

Mountain Meadow Massacre Research Paper
The Mountain Meadow Massacre What is the Mountain Meadow Massacre? The Mountain
Meadow Massacre was the killing of roughly 120 immigrants who were passing through Southern
Utah. Immigrant men, women and children were traveling from Arkansas to California and they
were riding a Baker Fancher wagon train. Later that day they were killed by a group a Mormons
with the help of local Paiute Indians. For a century and a half the Mountain Meadow Massacre has
shocked and distressed those who have learned of it. I wouldn t blame them because this was
something brutal. This tragedy deeply grieved the victim s relatives, burdened the perpetrator s
descendants and Church members generally with sorrow and feelings of collective guilt, unleashed

Lee was killed because they found out that he was part of the Massacre. If you wonder how he
was the part of it well I m about to tell you. Major John Higbee that was in command of the force
at Mountain Meadow persuaded John D. Lee to be and William Bateman to act as a decoy to
draw the emigrants out from the protection of their wagons. John D. Lee and William Bateman
were waving a white flag, marched across the field and talked to the emigrants to leave their
weapons, wagons, and cattle for there could be no harm from the Mormons. That was a lie. The
emigrants listened to Lee and they were walking with a mormon by their side. Every emigrant
men and women had a Mormon by their side with a gun. Then after a quarter mile Major John
Higbee yelled Halt! Do your duty! . Then that s when the massacre happened. Right when he
said that, all the Mormons shot the emigrants that were beside them. Only seventeen kids
survived and they were maybe at least 7 years old or younger. There was one kid that was only 4
years old and saw his mother get killed by a mormon. He said it was the most horriblest thing he
ever saw because he was right beside his mother when he saw her get shot in the head. The
mormons let those 17 kids leave on their own.The next day after the massacre Colonel Dame and
Lt. Colonel Haight visited the site of the massacre with John Lee. He described how it looked that
when the massacre happened. John Lee, Colonel Dame, and Lt. Colonel Haight went back home
and told about the massacre to everyone. Some blamed Brigham Young but he never knew about
the massacre. Everyone were wondering who was responsible about the massacre. When Young s
official Mormons heard about that, they were worked on blaming the Indians or the emigrants
themselves. By November John D. Lee completed a fictionalized account of the massacre,
attributing all the killing to the Indians and send it to Young. When Young received it he began on
his report about the Indians doing

power, which I ve decided to call Gamer allows me to see my stats like a video game. It shows me

  • 2. Analysis Of Henrik Wolff s Bullet s The Brain Imagine death. What happens in your final moments? Are you going to think about your loved ones or just simply reminisce on one of the happiest moments of your existence? What would be your very final thought to think? The short story, Bullet in the Brain , is a very intriguing, well articulated fictional writing piece that captures what happens in the split second of death through the main characterAnders. Written by Tobias Wolff , the story follows a man who finds the clichГ© in anything and his final thoughts of his life as a bullet is moving through his brain. Saying I enjoyed this story would be the understatement of the century. The short storyis purely brilliant and one of the most thought provoking stories I have read in a while. The story takes place inside an old pompous bank building. Anders, a book critic, cannot make it to the bank until right before closing time so, of course, the line is long and the women he gets stuck waiting in line behind puts him in the worst mood possible. Anders is a man who has critiqued the beauty out of life and in turn has let it turn him bitter. Anders could not be any more irritated while waiting in line because the teller decides to neglect her job to flirt with a man. Instead of taking his anger out on the bank teller, he takes it out on two ladies in front of him who were just trying to make conversation. But in the blink of an eye, everything changes and a plot twist occurs. Suddenly two men in ski masks are attempting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Multiplier Online Games ( Mog ) 1. Introduction: Multiplier Online Games (MOG) are one kind of real time applications. These are developed using either centralized architecture (Client Server Architecture) also known as traditional architecture or using distributed architecture (Peer to Peer Architecture). Some games are developed using a combination of these two architectures known as Mirrored Server Architecture (Hsu, Ling, Li, Kuo, 2003). In general, games are two types. One is role based playing games where players role is fixed. Other is real time strategy based games where player s actions dynamic. The Quake, Galaxy Star Wars, EVE, Warcraft are some examples of multiplayer online games (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). For entertainment purpose and for a virtual experience, people are showing greater interest in MOG. In recent years, organizations started to using distributed architecture or Peer to Peer (P P) architecture for developing MOG due to its robustness, scalability, and flexibility. The well known traditional client serverarchitecture has limited scalability and robustness and it requires the high cost to maintain servers when online players are massive (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). The MOG requires two kinds of platforms. One is physical platform contain hardware and network. Another is logical platform focuses on system architecture such as software development for players and hosts according to hardware management. The theme of the logical platform is providing best gaming software with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Booth and Frederick Weyerhaeuser John Rudolphus Booth (1827 1925) and Frederick Weyerhaeuser (1843 1914) were two well known entrepreneurs of the North American lumber industry in the 19th century. They are very contrasting characters that appear to have nothing in common. They are from different parts of the world; Booth is Canadian and Weyerhaeuser is German. They did not share the same faith or educational background. Booth was Presbyterian and went to a local county school. He got his first breakthrough here when he was appointed the position of manager when the owners opened a new lumber yard. In 1860, Weyerhaeuser formed a partnership with his wife s brother in law, Frank C. A. Denkmann. Weyerhaeuser acquired a sawmill situated on land along the Mississippi River. Weyerhaeuser and his partner took on sixteen other partners to form the Mississippi River Logging Company and by 1870 he was elected president of this company. There are multiple cases of school and community shootings and how it could be prevented if there were some sort of system to catch perpetrators. Gun violence has been an issue since the 1970s and started to peak in the 1980s and 1990s. • 8. The Holocaust And The Bosnian Genocide The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines the word genocide as the killing of people who belong to a particular racial, political, or cultural group (Merriam). But aren t genocides much more then that? Over the past hundred years, there have been several attempted genocides around the world. Two of the most well known genocides are the Holocaust (the Nazi s attempt to destroy the Jewish people) and the Bosnian genocide (the Serbians attempt to destroy the Bosnian population). This paper analyzes a political cartoon relating to genocides, describes the events that led to the Holocaust and the Bosnian genocide, describes several similarities and differences between them and explains why genocides continue regardless of the saying, Never Again . I. Cartoon Interpretation The cartoon is a commentary about the United Nations unsuccessful efforts to stop genocide. These efforts began in the 1940s: Nearly 60 years ago, the international community made a commitment to put an end to the crime of genocide by ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. (Hastings) As noted in the cartoon, however, the United Nations efforts have not succeeded. The cartoon shows a tremendous amount of skeleton heads. These skeleton heads could refer to all of the people who have been killed in genocides around the world. It also shows approximately 15 graves above the skeleton heads. • 9. Survival In Shawshank Redemption Conflict, pain, and struggle compose the gritty truth that walks beside everyone in life and opens the door to death. Many will succumb to this unnerving truth, while others will fight with a passion to survive. In most situations, survival may sound like the only reasonable option. However, survival has proven itself to be both a primitive instinct and a tenuous dream. The immensity at which this struggle occurs, makes it a very real and predominant issue that is transparent in many artistic works such as Man s Search for Meaning, Shawshank Redemption, and The Book Thief. The characters in these works survived their many perils of imprisonment by finding meaning, grasping hope, and having a will to live on. Firstly, Man s Search for Meaning, by Viktor E. Frankl, illustrated the many struggles that come with living in a concentration camp. In this book, Viktor Frankl also described that he lost his manuscript that contained his life s work and he stated that my deep desire to write this manuscript anew helped me to survive the rigors of the camps I... By the early 1980s, Miami had a corporate community that any city would envy. The companies were large and growing. They contributed mightily to local causes. They virtually invented a skyline where none existed as late as the early 1980s. CenTrust Bank and David Paul gave huge sums of money and much effort toward founding the New World Symphony in the 1980s. But the local corporate world was shaken badly at that time. However, it had become a symbol of the English Explorations during Shakespeare s life time a period of geological, governmental, and artistic discoveries. In this regard, the story of Sea Venturethrough the Bermuda islands, is very often told, since it is the inspiration of The Tempest. People would argue every time, though they survived an enormous accident together; stealing each others goods were so prevalent; the place where they thought was safely colonized had, in fact, almost completely disappeared. However, we, as people from 2015, would be able to understand Shakespeare, who insisted to make this disastrous story as a play, because the story itself is so fascinating. It, ironically, is a great pleasure to see the English struggling to face the new world coming at them. It seems like their trait of willing to discover makes the story interesting. It is how they are not avoiding the challenges that make us want to see more about how they are going to overcome those challenges and engages us further into the story. This perhaps is the reason why the story is so often told until these days. It gives us a clear idea about what lives were like in the Age of Explorations during England how they were struggling, but desiring. In this regard, it isn t strange for us to wonder if Shakespeare merely wanted to retell this journey. Shakespeare must have been impressed after reading Strachey s writings. • 19. Kant And Kant s Metaphysical Theorizing Kant s metaphysical theorizing was in large part focused on the matter of how synthetic a priori judgements were possible. For Kant, the question of how synthetic a priori judgements operated was central to understanding the nature of human thinking, and to enabling metaphysics. Previously Kant had been alerted to the writings of David Hume. Hume had effectively claimed that knowledge only came from analytic a priori judgments or by synthetic a posteriori. Hume criticized the notion of cause and effect, and claimed it to be product of conventions of thought, rather than reason. Kant had recognized that if Hume s claims were to be regarded and applied to other key concepts, that it would undermine the basis of metaphysics; due the criticisms ability to be applied to many other key notions of the world. Since metaphysics was being called into question, and it seemed that people were not making progress in metaphysical understanding in the way the sciences seemed to have been doing, Kant figured that he needed to discern away in which metaphysics was possible, and could be established as a science. Kant begins by considering how metaphysics could be determined. This would involve figuring its object, sources of cognition, and /or type of cognition. Firstly, metaphysics must be non empirical, and its principles and basic ideas must not be derived from experience. Thus, metaphysics must be a priori cognition coming from pure understanding and pure reason . It is distinguished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just one manifestation of this would be middle managers withholding information they are given to disseminate because they wish to retain their knowledgeable image; defeating the point of a middle manager. Michael E Raynor (2007) in his book entitled The Strategy Paradox presents the idea that a successful strategy requires the full commitment of the organisation, which leads to unsuccessful performance overall; due to over commitment. Flood and Dresher s (1950) Prisoners Dilemma, applied to the world of business, will also conclude that non competition is the most effective path in the long run. Both imply that strong competition efforts eventually lead to failure that mediocrity is the best route to follow as companies have a silent agreement to operate in a state of equilibrium. However, in the case of HMV Group, its operating industry is in decline; therefore failure is the only eventuality of a failure to compete. These types of moderator failures have the potential to lead to larger problems, such as the ones identified after the Chernobyl incident. Therefore, the reactor was shut down for an 18 month period in order to repair the deformed moderator [12]. The sled dogs, generally Alaskan Huskies or Malamutes, are trained from birth for the the annual Iditarod race. The Iditarod, an approximately one thousand and fifty mile race, starts in Anchorage, Alaska, where mushers compete to get to Nome, Alaska with their 16 sled dogs. In this article we ll go over the pros and cons of sled dog racing and my opinion on the topic. The Iditarod is long, and can sometimes even be dangerous and cause injuries for the sled dogs. However, that s not to say that they re not strong, as, sled dogs endurance often allows them to press on, says Cristen Conger, in spite of minor injuries. she continued (Conger, 1). Besides that, it seems that the dogs enjoy it, as sled dogs have their love of running (Arnold, 1) and will run for miles on their own (Conger, 1). The sled dogs are bred for the harsh environment and can even survive in negative temperatures, which are very common along the Alaskan trail. Then with one move, I became a white girl, painted like a picket fence plain as day, whiter than white (Prologue). By no means was Josie s life pre reservation easy, her economic/social status placed her and her mom as white trash, yet it was easier in the big city then on the res. In the city everyone looked like her, everyone talked like her, and did similar things, but on the res no one looked like her. • 35. Reflection Of The Bible Throughout the bible, and reading it once more by Marcus Borg, a common idea as it relates to a religious experience, is that the Bible is a human product. Throughout chapter two, Borg continuously describes the Bible as being a product of humans. He explains on page 22 that he sees scripture through the lens of the Biblebeing a human product, meaning that it is the product of two ancient communities (22). He believed that what the Bible explains things to be are words from the communities of ancient Israel and the early Christian movement. He believes that if we consider the bible both a divine and human product then we would be harder to separate the divine aspects from the human. I would have to agree with Borg s stance. For example, he presented his stance by using the Ten Commandments. People who believed that both the bible is a divine and human product would believe that it came from God in that they are his laws, however, the Commandments are written from a male s perspective. Being that they are written from a male perspective, it presents the idea that they are human made. But, I do not agree with the questions Borg stated towards the end of the section of human products. Borg believes that we should not ask What is God saying? but rather ask, What is the ancient author or community saying (28)? Borg explains a term, precritical naivete, as being an early childhood state in which we listen to whatever a significant authority figure tells us is true and untrue. He uses the story of Jesus birth and how he took the facts that he gathered from the narrative told during Christmas for granted. • 37. Theme Of Marigolds Adolescence is a bumpy and unknown section of the road known as life. Both the short story Marigolds by Eugenia Collier and the poem Hard on the Gas, by Janet S. Wong relate to the theme that the road to growing up and maturing isn t always smooth . Marigolds is the story of an adolescent who is growing up in the Great Depression. Through hard experiences and tumultuous emotions, the narrator learns that growing up is full of ups and downs. Hard on the Gas is a poem about a grandchild driving with his or her grandfather. The grandchild realizes that the road isn t always perfect and that there will be bumps along the way. The theme the road growing up and maturing isn t always smooth is conveyed in both of these selection. In Marigolds a young girl is growing up during the Great Depression. For Lizabeth, the narrator, everyday is a challenge. As she transitions from an innocent, naive child to an aware, yet unsure young woman, the smooth road she s been traveling on suddenly becomes bumpy and unfamiliar when a fit of anger taken out on her neighbor marks Lizabeth s growing up. All the smoldering emotions of that summer swelled in me and burst the great need for my mother who was never there, the hopelessness of our poverty and degradation, the bewilderment of being neither child nor woman and yet both at once... , (Collier, Marigolds ). All of the emotions that Lizabeth has been holding in spill out of her in an audacious, violent action that will exile her childhood; the destroying of Miss Lottie s prized marigolds. When Lizabeth realizes with remorse what she s done, she gains the heavy burden of adulthood. In that humiliating moment I looked beyond myself and into the depths of another person. This was the beginning of compassion, and one cannot have both compassion and innocence , (Collier, Marigolds ). When Lizabeth conveys that Miss Lottie had planted marigolds as a show of passion and hope, she becomes compassionate towards Miss Lottie, ridding her of her childish innocence. While Hard on the Gas is minimally worded, the meaning of the poem speaks volumes. The poem conveys growing up, and the fact that the road to adulthood is not, in fact, smooth. Julio was shocked into reality as his dancing partners chest was ravaged by a flurry of flechettes, sending her slumping onto him for support before she spasmed and fell ... • 49. Mountain Meadow Massacre Research Paper The Mountain Meadow Massacre What is the Mountain Meadow Massacre? The Mountain Meadow Massacre was the killing of roughly 120 immigrants who were passing through Southern Utah. Immigrant men, women and children were traveling from Arkansas to California and they were riding a Baker Fancher wagon train. Later that day they were killed by a group a Mormons with the help of local Paiute Indians. For a century and a half the Mountain Meadow Massacre has shocked and distressed those who have learned of it. I wouldn t blame them because this was something brutal. This tragedy deeply grieved the victim s relatives, burdened the perpetrator s descendants and Church members generally with sorrow and feelings of collective guilt, unleashed criticism... Major John Higbee that was in command of the force at Mountain Meadow persuaded John D. Lee to be and William Bateman to act as a decoy to draw the emigrants out from the protection of their wagons. John D. Lee and William Bateman were waving a white flag, marched across the field and talked to the emigrants to leave their weapons, wagons, and cattle for there could be no harm from the Mormons. That was a lie. The emigrants listened to Lee and they were walking with a mormon by their side. Every emigrant men and women had a Mormon by their side with a gun. Then after a quarter mile Major John Higbee yelled Halt! Do your duty! . Then that s when the massacre happened. Right when he said that, all the Mormons shot the emigrants that were beside them. Only seventeen kids survived and they were maybe at least 7 years old or younger. There was one kid that was only 4 years old and saw his mother get killed by a mormon. He said it was the most horriblest thing he ever saw because he was right beside his mother when he saw her get shot in the head. The mormons let those 17 kids leave on their own.The next day after the massacre Colonel Dame and Lt. Colonel Haight visited the site of the massacre with John Lee. He described how it looked that when the massacre happened. John Lee, Colonel Dame, and Lt. Colonel Haight went back home and told about the massacre to everyone. Some blamed Brigham Young but he never knew about the massacre. Everyone were wondering who was responsible about the massacre. When Young s official Mormons heard about that, they were worked on blaming the Indians or the emigrants themselves. By November John D. Lee completed a fictionalized account of the massacre, attributing all the killing to the Indians and send it to Young. When Young received it he began on his report about the Indians doing ... They are pretty much what you expect, a person with super strength, speed, flight, teleportation, yada, yada, yada, you get the gist right? Anyway, not everyone has powers its like 1 in every hundred thousand or so I m not to sure, I slept through that class. Turns out I fit that bill. My powers at first seemed unimpressive. A meager increase in strength, stamina, and durability in short I could dish a punch and take one. After some experimenting, I learned a few more things. I was far more powerful than I thought. I had two powers that no one else has in the whole world. My first power, which I ve decided to call Gamer allows me to see my stats like a video game. It shows me my stats, health, energy, skill, and you know the rest. My second power, which I ve decide to call Creator allows me to create skills and magics. Honestly, I think these powers were practically made for a nerd and lazy person like me because it allows me to be both lazy and overpowered but I ve never had a reason to use them. For example, let s say someone has the ability to fly and I identify them. Identify, like any other rpg allows the user to see the stats of others. If I want to, I could also create a ability that allows me to fly and I could make it better, worse, or the same. It all depends on how much effort and detail I put into it. However, soon I discovered a new ability which I called Modify . It allows me to modify my skills, stats, you know the gist of it already. So, I ve already become the most overpowered MC right. Wrong, I m way to lazy to actually take the time and effort to use all these abilities. I love them, and I believe that these abilities were made for me but I don t want to get involved with the world as much as I already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Boston-Personal Narrative September 12th, 2015. We had arrived in Boston the day before after a ten hour drive which wasn t as bad as you d think it would be. Sure, it definitely felt like a ten hour drive, but it was an entirely new experience for me. I crossed the US border for the first time, received by first American dollar bill, and to pass the time, I kept track of every different license plate I laid my eyes on; 16 different states and provinces to be exact. The ideas that a mother and son duo from a tiny community in Quebec came across another person with a California plate on their car intrigued me, and this really made time fly. Before we knew it, we were entering the city of Boston. Astonishingly tall skyscrapers stood towering... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The drums came in, reverberating through the amphitheater before Tyler sang his first note of the eighteen song setlist and bright, luminous lights struck flashing over the crowd like a lightning storm. I couldn t contain my smile and I was shaking uncontrollably at that moment; it just felt so surreal, and you can tell everyone else felt the same way. Everybody was jumping up and down, and singing along, and I watched before my eyes as the entire theatre came together and become one, all thanks to music. One of the highlights of the show was during a medley of their older songs in which they performed a part of their song Screen , and the entire crowd was chanting the bridge, We re broken people . Twenty One Pilots music talks a lot about depression and different struggles, and although I m not depressed, we all have our own personal struggles. Having music you can relate to can really help you, and this part of the show was a perfect example of that. There s just something comforting about a crowd of people all singing about how broken they are; it can give you a sense of hope and a realization that you re not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
