2. Welcome to Behind The Numbers!
BTN is the podcast that connects you with guests
from all walks of life to uncover the data and details
behind their success.
5. This is the year when Global Health Visions began
its mission to help and create change.
Identified need: a network of consultants with a
variety of expertise in the field of global health
development.
#1: 2008
6. These are the number of GHV’s primary focus areas.
From a focus on women and children, the
organization expanded to work in more and more
fields – healthcare, diseases, climate change, and
more.
GHV helps move organizations forward on their
path to change.
#2: 10
7. This number signifies a decrease in under-5
mortality between 1990 and 2016.
Nejla credits this massive change to the work of
many organizations and foundations.
Bill Gates has referred to it as the most beautiful
chart in the world.
#3: 50%
9. Nejla notes that data is essential to her.
Everyone wants to help, but emotional appeals
aren’t always as powerful as saying “This number of
women are dying in childbirth and if we provide
this number of frontline healthcare workers we can
make this difference.”
Data provides clear evidence to make change.
1. Prove that data makes a
difference
10. Data can be used to move the needle on policy and
advocacy.
Just collecting the data is not good enough – it’s
how you use the data to drive action.
2. How is it growing?
11. Why don’t people vote?
Why don’t people say “I absolutely will take
advantage of this right and VOTE!”
Even if you feel a system is broken, you can be part
of a movement to create change.
3. What answer would you
like to uncover?
12. A strategy on how to engage people on realizing
their civic responsibility, especially their right to
vote.
4. What would you create
that the world hasn’t yet
seen?
13. “We aren’t static, we are constantly changing.”
If you feel stuck, remember that there’s an
opportunity to change. Adapt to the challenges and
find new opportunities and create what you want
to see.
5. What is the best advice
you’ve received or given?
14. Data makes a difference. At the end of the day,
many of us make decisions based on seeing success
measures, so unpacking that notion is very
important.
Closing thoughts…
