1) The pre-production materials like the risk assessment, storyboard, and script helped the filmmakers organize their documentary and plan filming locations and schedules. 2) The storyboard and script provided an orderly format indicating what needed to be completed and when. 3) While contact sheets and some materials were unnecessary, the pre-production planning overall helped the filmmakers produce a better organized final production.

1. Before starting our final production we had to produce several pieces of pre-production
material. These were a Risk Assessment, Storyboard, Mood board, Contact Sheets, Material
List and Script. All of these came in handy when it came to producing our Documentary. The
Story board helped us in creating an organized timetable of what to film when and in what
order to place our footage. The Risk Assessment is a necessary requirement for any
Documentary or Film so this had to be completed stating all the possible risks and hazards.
This influenced us on choosing appropriate locations to film in. The mood board gave a
general perspective of our Documentary and would tell the viewer what it’s about and what it
includes. The material list didn’t come in to handy as there was very few stuff we needed for
our Documentary other than interviews and views on sex. When filming a Documentary or
film, one of the most important aspects to it is the Script. This is because it will keep you on
time and you can follow what you need to complete by a certain date in an organized manor.
Our Contact sheets were unnecessary as we didn’t need to make contact with anyone for our
Final Production.
The Pre-Production material was helpful as it helped us produce a better final production.
Without the Pre-Production material, our Production would have been un-organized and it
gave us the opportunity to think of everything which had to be included in our Documentary.
This then assisted us in the making of it as we knew exactly the result that we both wanted
and expected from our final production. The risk assessment helped us to find safe locations
and make sure that where we were filming or interviewing that the space around us was risk
and hazard free. The story board and script both gave us an orderly format for what needs to
be completed before other stuff and what’s necessary.
We used Storyboards to give us an order for what has to be done and when we have to do it.
Also we used them to make sure that what we filmed was right and fitted into our
Documentary. This resulted in us producing the best possible Documentary and it being all in
order rather than a load of footage just in a random order.
For our Documentary, Contact sheets didn’t come into it as we didn’t need to get any
contacts. So they weren’t useful. It consisted of the 3 of us, Carrie, Ele and myself. It had
information such as what days we would have open to working on our Documentary and our
Contact numbers.
Our material List had archive footage which was to be found on the internet and it was Ele’s
job to get condoms and appropriate equipment such as bondage equipment. This gave us all
an idea of whose job it was to find the necessary stuff. This helped a great deal as it also
helped us to all get on with our own stuff rather than wasting time all on one subject. Despite
us not needing any of the practical and physical equipment, we did look back at it to remind
ourselves of each other roles in our production team.
We put a large amount of time into our research which improved our final Production. It
helped us by increasing the amount of information and material used throughout our
documentary. All the facts, Statistics and general information involved in our Production
came from our research. We used our Production Schedule to develop and produce an
organised and professional production. This gave us deadlines and times for us to have
completed specific pieces of work. This helped us keep up to our date and to have done all of
our work in order to help our editing stages to be easier and quicker as we had all the footage
filmed and in order.

2. The scripts that we produced gave us a brief indication of what we had to have completed by
a specific date and also every little detail which had to have been included throughout our
Documentary. The scripts did help as they kept us organised and made sure that we didn’t
miss out on anything which would have made our Documentary any better, we included
every detail which was necessary.
