I have great pleasure in introducing you to the BE-MBA Course of University Institute of Engineering &
Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The BE-MBA program, an integrated 5 year program incepted in
2008, prepares the budding engineers for a career in management.
The BE-MBA program is a fusion of knowledge & industry oriented management practice. Great effort has
been made to design the syllabus according to the industry requirements. Efforts have also been made to
develop good communication skills and group cohesion skills to enable students to perform better in a team.
Through the medium of this Placement Brochure of BE-MBA course of UIET, it gives me immense pleasure
to extend a warm welcome to the corporate/ government/ entrepreneurial sector to visit UIET, PU. I believe
that the relationship between industry and academia would prosper and strengthen by interaction with a visit

I am happy to introduce to you the BE-MBA course at University Institute of Engineering & Technology
(UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Since its establishment, UIET has come a long way and is geared towards a rapid growth. This is possible
because of highly competitive students which are selected through an all India entrance test, research
oriented faculty and an infrastructure that is most suited towards learning.
The BE-MBA program is a five year integrated one that fuses technical knowledge with business skills. UIET
is highly ranked in academic circles and I am sure our BE-MBA students will bring laurels to the institute.

• Only top 15% of the students are admitted into the course.
• There is NO internal sliding/change of stream during the course of the

• All students follow a unified curriculum for their MBA education, irrespective
of the stream/choice of major in the BE program.
• MBA subjects are taught in classrooms and seminar halls having better
facilities and infrastructure.
• Top faculties from Panjab University departments deliver guest lectures to the
students.
• Online lectures and study sessions in collaboration with other departments,
and institutes.
• The program follows a double major system, wherein all students select at
least 2 specializations out of the 3 specified in the curriculum, namely,
Finance, Marketing and HR.
• From 3rd to 8th semester, all compulsory subjects from all of the 3
specializations are targeted.
• 9th and 10th Semester are dedicated to elective subjects in the selected
specialization.
ABOUT BE-MBA:PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
• All students follow the BE and MBA curriculum, with minimal to no sacrifice
• Class schedules accommodate classes from both programmes.
• Each class comprises of at most 120 students, out of which at most 12 are
BE-MBA students
• Students enrolled in the integrated programme attend the management
classes together.
• Exam schedules allow for ample amount of preparation time, with no sacrifice
being made for the preparation time of any subject.
• Sessional exam schedules also decided well in advance so they do not conflict
with each other
• Double major system allows students to expand their horizons and utilize
their potential to the best of their abilities

UTECHNOS: The primary body that regulates the functioning of all the
official committees and student bodies.
CULTURAL COMMITTEE: Singing, music and stage performance, it’s the
cultural committee at the helm of getting all their performers ready and
organized timely to put up one of the most exhilarating performances and
showcase brilliant all round qualities in dance and music by the students of
the institute. The committee has produced some of the best stage
performances during farewell, fresher’s and GOONJ, which have been highly
appreciated by everyone.

Committees
TRAINING AND PLACEMENT COMMITTEE: The training and placement committee
of UIET through their concerned and rigorous efforts have been able to get the
students placed in one of the best companies of the country. The initiatives
taken by the TPC have been remarkable as the percentage of the placed
students has gone up ever since the formation of the committee.
BRAND PROMOTION COMMITTEE: BPC, a committee started in 2010 as
Branding, aims to establish the brand image of UIET, establish media relations,
provides information on all information platforms for the students to access, fill
survey forms for various magazines, conduct seminars and events (major one
being the orientation of fresher students) and help in the over all growth of the
college.
TECHNICAL COMMITTEES
SBE: . The UIET chapter of SBE is one of the very few of the country,
established in our institute by sincere efforts by the students, to give the new
and upcoming field of biotechnology a stage from which the students can excel
as much as they desire to
IEEE: The UIET chapter of IEEE is an exemplary organization, which connects
and spreads the word about all the latest technological developments concerned
to electronics and electrical engineering
SAE: Society of automotive engineers chapter in UIET is a perfect platform for
the budding mechanical engineers, to learn more than what they are taught,
and open the gear box of their heads to come up with some great ideas in
automation.
BEYOND ACADEMICS
Events
• AAVISHKAR: :It is the National level Technical Fest of Panjab
University, Chandigarh. It provides a platform to the students from
various disciplines- Sciences, Engineering, Management, etc. for
showcasing their innovative ideas and initiatives by demonstrating
their projects. The fest is an endeavor to acquaint the students
with future technologies and discuss the innovations that possess
the power to change lives and the world as a whole.
• National Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering:
NCAME was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering,
UIET, PU Chandigarh to bring researchers and experts from
academia and industry on a common platform to discuss, share
and create awareness about the latest technologies being adopted
in the field of Mechanical engineering. It aimed at bridging the gap
between academic research and industrial application.
• SAE EFFICYCLE: SAE Effi-Cycle is a national level competition
based on “Green Technology” held for undergraduate and graduate
students, aimed to design, simulate and fabricate a highly efficient
human powered vehicle that is Aerodynamically and Ergonomically
stable. Over 40 teams from various engineering institutes across
the country participated in it last year. It was started in 2010 and
UIET has been it’s host for 2 years now.

• National Conclave The Chief Guests of the last edition of the event were
Mr.Sunil Dutt [CEO, Snowball Technologies and Simpluse Technologies] and
Mr. Manoj Chug [President (India and SAARC), EMC Corporation, Noida]. Prof.
Hema Sharda [Director of South Asia Relations, University of Western
Australia], Dr. G.C. Datta Roy (CEO, Dalkia Energy Services Ltd.), Mr. Sanjeev
Gupta (Head HR, Swaraj), Prof. N.S. Chaudhary (IIT, Indore), Mr. Munish
Verma [President, Startup Firms], Mr. Ramachandran Prasad [DM, Biocon],
Mr. Dinesh Dua [CEO and Director, Nectar Lifesciences Ltd. ] were a few
among the notable speakers at the panel discussions and interactions held
during the two day event. A similar event is organized each year to bridge the
gap between students and the industry.
• ICAER: IEEE Student Branch of UIET, Chandigarh has been organizing a
Student Conference titled ‘IEEE Student Conference on Cognizance of Applied
Engineering & Research, ICAER’13’ in the month of October each year. With
the help of this conference, IEEE–UIET encouraged the students to participate
in research activities of their field of interest. The theme of this conference
involved topics from every background in Engineering, which were flexible
allowing students to manuscript for topics they wish for.
• GOONJ is the National level Annual Techno-Literati-Cultural Festival of
University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Chandigarh. It’s a
reflection of the vibe and the spirit of the institute, showcasing the immense
talent the students possess in diverse fields. Events spanning from technical
backdrop to literary events and from cultural field to fun interactions, all put
together form the two day celebration.

PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES• The placement season at UIET begins in the month of August
and goes on up to May of following year. The Training and
Placement Cell conducts several activities throughout the
year to benefit the students in the placement process..
• Verification of Resume’
All claims made by students and documents included in
resumes submitted by them for campus placements are duly
verified by the TPO (Training and Placement Officer). The
verification standards are uniform throughout the Institute.
• Informational Workshops
Seminars and workshops are held by T.I.M.E. (Triumphant
Institute of Management Education), Bull’s Eye, and other
such institutes in order to familiarize the students with the
placement processes like resume building, interview
preparations, ‘Quantitative Abilities’, etc. on a regular basis.

PLACEMENT PROCEDURE
• Placements at UIET are organized and conducted by The Training and
Placement Committee with the assistance of students and faculty.
Arrangements for pre-placement talks and interaction sessions could be
made upon request. The recruitment process is as follows:
1. The company is encouraged to conduct pre-placement talks before any
short-listing exams before the campus interview sessions would commence.
Slots for such activities would be, however, allotted based on mutual
convenience and availability.
2. Companies can register themselves on the online portal
(www.tnpuiet.com) to create their accounts.
3. Companies can post their job notification through their account on the
online portal and they can also access the profile of students from the
online portal and view the resumes of the students who have registered for
the placement drive.
4. The Placement cell allots the dates for the campus interviews but are
negotiable by the company.
5. By the end of the scheduled day of campus interview, the company is
required to declare a list of final selected students on the same day.
6. At the end of selection process, the company is required to send offer
letters to the Placement Officer who will then hand them over to the

  • 3. I have great pleasure in introducing you to the BE-MBA Course of University Institute of Engineering & Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The BE-MBA program, an integrated 5 year program incepted in 2008, prepares the budding engineers for a career in management. The BE-MBA program is a fusion of knowledge & industry oriented management practice. Great effort has been made to design the syllabus according to the industry requirements. Efforts have also been made to develop good communication skills and group cohesion skills to enable students to perform better in a team. Through the medium of this Placement Brochure of BE-MBA course of UIET, it gives me immense pleasure to extend a warm welcome to the corporate/ government/ entrepreneurial sector to visit UIET, PU. I believe that the relationship between industry and academia would prosper and strengthen by interaction with a visit to the beautiful campus.   • 4. I am happy to introduce to you the BE-MBA course at University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh. Since its establishment, UIET has come a long way and is geared towards a rapid growth. This is possible because of highly competitive students which are selected through an all India entrance test, research oriented faculty and an infrastructure that is most suited towards learning. The BE-MBA program is a five year integrated one that fuses technical knowledge with business skills. UIET is highly ranked in academic circles and I am sure our BE-MBA students will bring laurels to the institute. ABOUT PANJAB UNIVERSITY • In the heart of the renowned ‘City Beautiful’ – and upcoming IT hub, lies Panjab University, with its rich tradition of providing education of the highest quality for the past 130 years in fields as varied as the Arts, Letters, Science, and now Engineering • Regarded as one of the premier universities of the world. It has provided the country with such illustrious luminaries as the former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former HRD minister Dr. Kapil Sibal, actor and activist Anupam Kher, and many other renowned and respected individuals of the society. • PU was recently ranked 32 in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings, ahead of IIT-Kharagpur (45), IIT Kanpur (55), IIT-Delhi (59), IIT-Roorkee (59), IIT-Guwahati (74), JNU (90), topping majority of the country’s renowned universities • Also ranked number 1 in research citations in Asia. • Last year, the University had topped the country in Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
  • 6. ABOUT UIET • UIET has carved a niche in the list of reputed colleges of the country in the few years of its inception. An in-campus institute of the reputed Panjab University, UIET has come to be known as one of the best institutes of the region. • Courses Offered: • BE (since 2002) : Electronics and Communications, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Mechanical. • BE-MBA (since 2006): Finance Management, HR, Marketing Management • In addition to BE-MBA courses, ME courses were also added to the curriculum in 2006, offered in 4 different trades.

ABOUT BE-MBA:PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS • Students are selected on the base of their AIEEE/JEE Main scores • Only top 15% of the students are admitted into the course. • There is NO internal sliding/change of stream during the course of the program. • BE-MBA Alumni are placed in top institutes and companies nationwide, and worldwide.
  • 10. • All students follow a unified curriculum for their MBA education, irrespective of the stream/choice of major in the BE program. • MBA subjects are taught in classrooms and seminar halls having better facilities and infrastructure. • Top faculties from Panjab University departments deliver guest lectures to the students. • Online lectures and study sessions in collaboration with other departments, and institutes. • The program follows a double major system, wherein all students select at least 2 specializations out of the 3 specified in the curriculum, namely, Finance, Marketing and HR. • From 3rd to 8th semester, all compulsory subjects from all of the 3 specializations are targeted. • 9th and 10th Semester are dedicated to elective subjects in the selected specialization.   • 11. • All students follow the BE and MBA curriculum, with minimal to no sacrifice • Class schedules accommodate classes from both programmes. • Each class comprises of at most 120 students, out of which at most 12 are BE-MBA students • Students enrolled in the integrated programme attend the management classes together. • Exam schedules allow for ample amount of preparation time, with no sacrifice being made for the preparation time of any subject. • Sessional exam schedules also decided well in advance so they do not conflict with each other • Double major system allows students to expand their horizons and utilize their potential to the best of their abilities ABOUT BE-MBA:PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

BEYOND ACADEMICS Committees TRAINING AND PLACEMENT COMMITTEE: The training and placement committee of UIET through their concerned and rigorous efforts have been able to get the students placed in one of the best companies of the country. The initiatives taken by the TPC have been remarkable as the percentage of the placed students has gone up ever since the formation of the committee. BRAND PROMOTION COMMITTEE: BPC, a committee started in 2010 as Branding, aims to establish the brand image of UIET, establish media relations, provides information on all information platforms for the students to access, fill survey forms for various magazines, conduct seminars and events (major one being the orientation of fresher students) and help in the over all growth of the college. TECHNICAL COMMITTEES SBE: . The UIET chapter of SBE is one of the very few of the country, established in our institute by sincere efforts by the students, to give the new and upcoming field of biotechnology a stage from which the students can excel as much as they desire to IEEE: The UIET chapter of IEEE is an exemplary organization, which connects and spreads the word about all the latest technological developments concerned to electronics and electrical engineering SAE: Society of automotive engineers chapter in UIET is a perfect platform for the budding mechanical engineers, to learn more than what they are taught, and open the gear box of their heads to come up with some great ideas in automation.
  • 23. BEYOND ACADEMICS Events • AAVISHKAR: :It is the National level Technical Fest of Panjab University, Chandigarh. It provides a platform to the students from various disciplines- Sciences, Engineering, Management, etc. for showcasing their innovative ideas and initiatives by demonstrating their projects. The fest is an endeavor to acquaint the students with future technologies and discuss the innovations that possess the power to change lives and the world as a whole. • National Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering: NCAME was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, UIET, PU Chandigarh to bring researchers and experts from academia and industry on a common platform to discuss, share and create awareness about the latest technologies being adopted in the field of Mechanical engineering. It aimed at bridging the gap between academic research and industrial application. • SAE EFFICYCLE: SAE Effi-Cycle is a national level competition based on “Green Technology” held for undergraduate and graduate students, aimed to design, simulate and fabricate a highly efficient human powered vehicle that is Aerodynamically and Ergonomically stable. Over 40 teams from various engineering institutes across the country participated in it last year. It was started in 2010 and UIET has been it’s host for 2 years now.

BEYOND ACADEMICS Events • National Conclave The Chief Guests of the last edition of the event were Mr.Sunil Dutt [CEO, Snowball Technologies and Simpluse Technologies] and Mr. Manoj Chug [President (India and SAARC), EMC Corporation, Noida]. Prof. Hema Sharda [Director of South Asia Relations, University of Western Australia], Dr. G.C. Datta Roy (CEO, Dalkia Energy Services Ltd.), Mr. Sanjeev Gupta (Head HR, Swaraj), Prof. N.S. Chaudhary (IIT, Indore), Mr. Munish Verma [President, Startup Firms], Mr. Ramachandran Prasad [DM, Biocon], Mr. Dinesh Dua [CEO and Director, Nectar Lifesciences Ltd. ] were a few among the notable speakers at the panel discussions and interactions held during the two day event. A similar event is organized each year to bridge the gap between students and the industry. • ICAER: IEEE Student Branch of UIET, Chandigarh has been organizing a Student Conference titled ‘IEEE Student Conference on Cognizance of Applied Engineering & Research, ICAER’13’ in the month of October each year. With the help of this conference, IEEE–UIET encouraged the students to participate in research activities of their field of interest. The theme of this conference involved topics from every background in Engineering, which were flexible allowing students to manuscript for topics they wish for. • GOONJ is the National level Annual Techno-Literati-Cultural Festival of University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Chandigarh. It’s a reflection of the vibe and the spirit of the institute, showcasing the immense talent the students possess in diverse fields. Events spanning from technical backdrop to literary events and from cultural field to fun interactions, all put together form the two day celebration.

  • 26. PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES• The placement season at UIET begins in the month of August and goes on up to May of following year. The Training and Placement Cell conducts several activities throughout the year to benefit the students in the placement process.. • Verification of Resume’ All claims made by students and documents included in resumes submitted by them for campus placements are duly verified by the TPO (Training and Placement Officer). The verification standards are uniform throughout the Institute. • Informational Workshops Seminars and workshops are held by T.I.M.E. (Triumphant Institute of Management Education), Bull’s Eye, and other such institutes in order to familiarize the students with the placement processes like resume building, interview preparations, ‘Quantitative Abilities’, etc. on a regular basis.

  • 30. PLACEMENT PROCEDURE • Placements at UIET are organized and conducted by The Training and Placement Committee with the assistance of students and faculty. Arrangements for pre-placement talks and interaction sessions could be made upon request. The recruitment process is as follows: 1. The company is encouraged to conduct pre-placement talks before any short-listing exams before the campus interview sessions would commence. Slots for such activities would be, however, allotted based on mutual convenience and availability. 2. Companies can register themselves on the online portal (www.tnpuiet.com) to create their accounts. 3. Companies can post their job notification through their account on the online portal and they can also access the profile of students from the online portal and view the resumes of the students who have registered for the placement drive. 4. The Placement cell allots the dates for the campus interviews but are negotiable by the company. 5. By the end of the scheduled day of campus interview, the company is required to declare a list of final selected students on the same day. 6. At the end of selection process, the company is required to send offer letters to the Placement Officer who will then hand them over to the
