BE A SUCCESSFUL MEDICAL STUDENT?
I was very happy as a Medical Student, it just goes backs to my experiences from
late 60’s to early 70’s, it was a bubbling life, the teachers are creative to teach us
many interesting things to make our lives interesting, what I have I observed in the
recent past there is lesser interaction between teacher and students, Anyhow I am a
lucky person as our teachers are faithful to their job we cherished our committed
teachers as our real mentors to life. Today life is more a business than real
interaction, I truly believe we have to make more as students and teachers to give life
to the profession; the power of modern medicine is in large part the result of an
explosion of our understanding of the human body. As a result, students will have to
continue to grapple with how to learn the ever-increasing amounts of information it
takes to be an excellent clinician. But spaced repetition gives us an opportunity to
learn more effectively.
PROFESSION FULLOF OPPORTUNITIES -Today Medical profession is full of
opportunities more you take responsibility and committed you go higher in the career.
Once you take a moment to celebrate, you will realize that the real challenge lies
ahead. Medical Schools/ College deserves as the launch pad to your career and
excelling there can open the door to opportunities. We teach our students didactic
lecture lacking life or interaction between student and teacher, Anyhow students
need to figure out how to learn best, and most efficiently. Is it taking copious notes in
class? May not be possible many times, Drawing pictures of dissections? If the
teacher is interesting the students can re-listen to lectures on your smartphones
while out for a run or travelling longer? I was a solitary studier all through college,
poring over all the required reading and taking notes. I tried to continue this pattern in
medical college. This worked fine during the first term, which was largely a review of
basic science principles in Anatomy Physiology and Biochemistry. If you ask a 1st
year student’s they say life is static same situation however some teachers makes
life interesting, by the time the 1st year finishes we run out of ideas, I realized
something had to change. When I was successful in the 1st year I realized it was not
inbox of narrow circumstances the teacher treated us as little children who care less
for our psychology, by the end of 2nd year we started realizing the Medicine is sea
with many sharks trying to engulf us, as the field of medicine is one of life-long
learning. We will constantly need to update our knowledge of our field by reading
journals, attending conferences, and discussing interesting cases with our
colleagues.
BE ADVENTUROUS Medical colleges are full of great opportunities – as you observe
the matter deeply the working environments provides lots of opportunities; you have
a chance to contribute to the community, make connections, develop new skills and,
yes be adventurous both professionally and personally – you never know where it
may lead you. What you may not realize at the beginning of medical colleges is how
quickly the time goes by and how soon you will need to be making decisions about
your specialty. Early exploration can be invaluable in helping you make your
decision.
, if you do not do well IN ACADEMICS – NEXT TIME
CAN BE A BETTER OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE MORE Recognize your own
strengths (and weaknesses). To get into medical colleges , you’ve likely been at the
top of your class most of your life.. Allow yourself not to be really good at everything.
Work on your weaknesses so they don’t become your Achilles’ heel, but don’t dwell
on them. Instead, feed your strengths.
LIFE IS THINKING OF BETTER OF TOMORROW Take time to nurture your
relationships, with friends, family and significant others but take a real break and go
grab coffee with friends. Take care of yourself. Go to the gym, walk in nature or
beach, cook a real meal on occasion, and take a walk. We all want to be trained to
become the best clinicians / doctors/ teachers we can be, but education in the health
professions is often like drinking from a fire hose. Worse yet, most of us haven’t
learned how to learn – how to effectively synthesize and retain the knowledge for the
long term, both to do well in University exams and to have that knowledge available
to inform our clinical practice.
LIFE IS NO CHOICE TODAY TO ATTAIN THE SUCCESS, TRY LEARNING
THINGS BLINDLY MAKE YOU TO GO NO WHERE FOR SUCCESS NEVER
FORGET TO SEE AND LEARN HOW COMPETENT PEOPLE, TEACHERS AND
STUDENTS SUCCEED IN LIFE?
Never forget today whom we don’t know run our Hospitals?
