The document summarizes recent health care reforms in Washington state. It discusses the expansion of Medicaid, challenges in accessing care, and the state's plan to transform the health care system by 2020. The goals are to pay providers based on the value and outcomes of care instead of volume, better integrate physical and behavioral health, and empower communities to improve health. Key steps taken include legislation supporting purchasing reform and integrated whole-person care, and establishing Accountable Communities of Health to drive regional health improvements.
- The document discusses transforming health systems through innovation and evolution in integrated care. It shares the speaker's observations over 40 years working in health care, particularly in integrated care.
- Some of the key learnings are that a focus on quality improvement and fully engaging patients and families in care worked well. Organizing services in small, integrated zones and aligning culture and accountability across the system also supported transformation.
- While redesigning administration and focusing on efficiencies did not work as well, taking a long term, system-wide approach to achieving a shared vision of quality, patient-centered, integrated care is achievable but requires commitment from all parties.

The C3 tool is an Excel-based tool that can examine options for allocating and engaging CHWs (community health workers) to help strengthen CHW policy and programming. It allows users to input data on the population, CHW workload and time spent on various health activities. The tool then compares the number of CHWs needed to implement different policy scenarios against the number of CHWs available to determine if coverage targets can be realistically achieved. It is meant to facilitate planning and discussions between ministries of health and partners on rational CHW programming approaches based on available resources. The tool does not provide costing information or guarantee accurate predictions, but allows comparison of alternative CHW allocation scenarios to help guide policy decisions.

Expo is the most significant annual health and social care event in the calendar, uniting more NHS and care leaders, commissioners, clinicians, voluntary sector partners, innovators and media than any other health and care event.
Expo 15 returned to Manchester and was hosted once again by NHS England. Around 5000 people a day from health and care, the voluntary sector, local government, and industry joined together at Manchester Central Convention Centre for two packed days of speakers, workshops, exhibitions and professional development.
This year, Expo was more relevant and engaging than ever before, happening within the first 100 days of the new Government, and almost 12 months after the publication of the NHS Five Year Forward View. It was also a great opportunity to check on and learn from the progress of Greater Manchester as the area prepares to take over a £6 billion devolved health and social care budget, pledging to integrate hospital, community, primary and social care and vastly improve health and well-being.

Health and Social Care Devolution in Greater ManchesterCarl Peachey
Greater Manchester has a long history of collaboration between local authorities and health services. In 2014, it reached a devolution agreement with the UK government to take control of an estimated £6 billion annual health and social care budget by 2016. This would allow Greater Manchester to integrate services, shift care closer to homes and communities, and address major challenges like improving population health and closing health inequalities gaps. Key early achievements of the devolution include commitments to 7-day primary care access, decisions on the Healthier Together hospital reconfiguration, and a new public health leadership model.
The document discusses the role of the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in supporting health and wellbeing. It notes that the VCSE sector has expertise in reaching groups experiencing health inequalities. However, funding challenges from significant budget cuts and a shift to contract-based funding have impacted the sector. The document calls for greater recognition of the value provided by smaller VCSE organizations, investing in those promoting equality, and developing services through co-production between statutory and community organizations.

An Integrated Care Organisation (ICO) has been established, with Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust as the prime provider, to deliver £96 million in community health, acute care, and social care services through direct provision and subcontracting. The ICO aims to promote prevention, provide person-centered services, deliver more community-based care, and pool resources more efficiently. Neighbourhood teams are being developed to improve access to GPs and community services. Nursing plays a key role in coordinating care to improve outcomes through integrated teams that bring different skills together to best support individuals.
The document discusses key drivers shaping the changing role of nurses in community health services, including political ideology and NHS policies. It examines the Five Year Forward View and its focus on prevention, empowering patients, efficiency and new models of care. In response, nursing leadership published the "10 Commitments" focusing on areas like population health, prevention, self-management support, and using technology to enhance practice and outcomes. The role of nurses is expanding to support these policy priorities around long-term condition management in the community.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

8 Surprising Reasons To Meditate 40 Minutes A Day That Can Change Your Life.pptxHolistified Wellness
We’re talking about Vedic Meditation, a form of meditation that has been around for at least 5,000 years. Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.
