The Diabetes Ambassadors Program helped lower A1C levels for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western NY members with diabetes, with 70% (106 members) who fully completed the program seeing a decrease in their A1C levels compared to only 26% (26 members) who did not complete the full program, indicating the program's effectiveness in improving diabetes outcomes when completed as designed.

We are pleased to announce that the Diabetes Ambassadors Program @ diambassadors.com — created by leading
endocrinologist Dr. Paresh Dandona — has helped to significantly improve outcomes for Blue Cross Blue Shield Western NY
members with diabetes.
* BCBSWNY diabetes educators received extensive clinical training from Dr. Dandona and his colleagues to become Diabetes
Ambassadors. These educators then advised HCPs regarding medication management for their patients with diabetes — in
consultation with the endocrinologists.
* As you can see from the chart below, the Diabetes Ambassadors Program helped lower patients’ A1C by 1 percent. The Diabetes
Ambassadors program is also being implemented via pharmacists at other health plans.
