• Major Pitcairn leads his army of British to
Middlesex County Lexington, Massachusetts and
shouts to the seventy-seven minutemen prepared to
stop him “Lay down your arms you rebels, and
disperse!”

4. April 19th 4:30 A.M.
• The leader of the minutemen, Captain Parker, sees
the hopelessness of the situation and orders his
men to disperse.

6. April 19th 4:30 A.M.
• During the rebel disperse, a random shot goes off.
Both sides take it at an invitation and began to fire
upon each other. This shot will eventually become
known as the shot heard around the world.
To this day still no one knows who fired the shot.

8. April 19th 4:35 A.M.
• After only mere minutes of fighting with eight rebel
deaths and nine more wounded Pitcairn marched
his unscathed army onward to Concord.

Jonas Parker, Samuel Hedley, Isaac Muzzy, Nathaniel
Wyman, and John Brown.
9. Conclusion
• In the end even though the British won, this battle
acted as a spark that set a flame that became our
independence bonfire.
