Biography Of Elvis Presley
About 70 years ago, Elvis Presley roamed the world. At age 13, his hair was dark brown like some
people s eyes, and his eyes were green like fresh grass being watered. He was regular height, 5 1
with no tattoos, but is planning on getting them all over his arms. His favorite outfit was black
pants with a black or green t shirt or once in a while, a fancy long sleeve shirt. One really good
thing about him is that he sang really well. He worked at a little food truck that when you come
up to it, it smells like melted cheese and toasted bread. He also took singing lessons with his dad.
He was always conceited and would think he s the best, but he was very caring. Him and his dad
had a quote they used to tell each other, when things go wrong,... Show more content on

I looked through old yearbooks, photos, going around neighborhoods, and following him. I soon
figured out that it was him that took my dad somewhere, but I don t know how far or where. A
week later, my mom and I started to get on little planes and traveled around the world to find
him. I soon got to this tiny country I never found out about and I assumed was close. For some
reason, people had white signs with a big black sharpie written on it for my dad saying
MISSING. The smell of fresh paint. So I knew he was here. Just about figured it was Victor,
because he lives here according to other people in this town. This country is 1,000,000 miles
away from home. I started to adventure out in the crowded forest, tropical jungle, and bright
blue ocean to find him. I wouldn t let my best friend go. Mom, you have to stay. My mom didn t
want to, but she agreed. I got to this one place, till I got bored and started singing. After I
finished a song I wrote, I hear another of my songs that someone is singing, and that someone s
voice sounds familiar. Dad? I whisper Come to the right, 4 miles He reply s. I go ahead, I see
that my dad is sitting at this little park. He explains that Victor told him to come to this park
because he wanted to help him find this piece of land he is trying to

1.As the instructor, I will be able to view personal contributions (e.g., content, frequency, duration)

editing/finalizing group assignments on the Group Wiki). What will you do to increase your task
visibility? If you havenГЇВїВЅt already done so, you and your group members may wantto assign

In order to increase my task visibility by ensuring that I am contributing to the group project in
the best way possible, whether that be through giving feedback to other members when needed,
working hard on the assigned role I was given, or by making sure everything is being completed
to the best of my groups ability. Additionally, to increase my task visibility I will make sure that I
help to facilitate group roles, as that has been found to be the best end result for everyone
involved. I personally feel that I can contribute to the group productivity by assigning individuals
roles, and help others out in my group who may need help. I think as a group we need to
accomplish making sure that everyone is on the same page, and that everyone knows what they
should be doing. When people are feeling confused they tend to not know what to do and
sometimes do not actually do anything, so I want to ensure that I am a group member that is

Effects Of Imperialism On The Indian Economy
Effects of Imperialism to the Indian Economy In 2015 India was ranked among the highest
countries globally in consumer confidence, this comes after the International Monetary Fund
estimated an economic growth of up to 7% annually for the next decade in India. But this hasn t
always been the case, in fact, it wasn t so long ago that Indiawas simply another colonized nation
around the world, not to mention it s usually rare to see this kind of economic growth in such a
small period of time. The Effects of globalization, with an emphasis on open trade networks, and
the Imperial developments of the late 19th century have led to the emergence and rise of India s
market based economy. This growth has been affected in a very positive way over a span of
centuries by a combination of stronger economic developments brought about by a massive
increase in the countries labor force and the emphasis on education and self governance. An
exposure to both the Western economic systems during the imperial age until their independence
in 1947 and their subsequent involvement in the Asian, Middle Eastern and African trade routes
from the late 15th century placed India in an economic equilibrium where they were able to
benefit from both worlds and become one of the fastest growing economies. The global economic
depression of the 1930 s combined with the two world wars was crucial in establishing early seeds
of economic development in India. During the global

Flood In Louisiana Essay
Local churches and Red Cross have opened shelters for thousands escaping the massive flooding in
Louisiana.
At least seven people have died and some 20,000 were rescued from about a dozen parishes in the
state. Louisiana government has declared emergency in the state while the federal government has
agreed to consider the flooding as a major disaster.
The Red Cross is collaborating with many churches to volunteer for those affected by the torrential
rains.
Thousands of people arrived at around 50 Red Cross shelters in Louisiana, many of which were
based in churches.

Milestones in Federal Gun Control Legislation
A growing number of publicized tragedies caused by gun violence have caused a great stir in the
American community. Recently, President Barack Obama has made proposals to tighten the
regulation of and the restrictions on the possession of weapons in America to lessen these
tragedies. Should the legislative branch decide in favor of his proposals, all American citizens
who do or wish to own the type of weapons in question or who use current loopholes in existing
policy would be directly affected. His proposals, which are to require background checks for all
gun sales, strengthen the background check system for gun sales, pass a new, stronger ban on
assault weapons, limit ammunition magazines to 10 rounds, finish the job of getting... Show more

It is for this bias that they may not be seen as a reputable source of fact on the issue. Why would
they show the horrors of gun violence when their organization revolves around guns, many liberals
ask. While organizations may be an unreliable source of reason due to the impact that resulting laws
may have on them, they still propose valid points.
Obama s proposals function on one of the oldest, fundamental goals of government: to provide
order and security to those governed. By requiring universal background checks, those deemed unfit
to possess a firearm would not legally have a way to buy one and therefore the severity of the
situation, should one of these individuals act on any rash thoughts, would be greatly reduced.
The same would be true if individuals who were able to possess firearms were only able to have
ones of a less ridiculous nature and with less ammunition to carry out any homicidal intentions.
The right to ban these dangerous and unusual weapons has already been ruled by the Supreme
Court in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller to be in accordance with the Constitution. In
1994, two laws were passed which did these two things. However, due to loopholes, they were less
effective than intended. Even still, statistical information shows that since the year they were

Firewire Surfboards Firewire Surfboards was launched in 2005 by a group of friends who wanted
to create surfboards for just anyone that wanted to go out and enjoy the waves. The claim is that
the Firewire surfboards are lighter, stronger, and more flexible than the based competition s

a promising future in store for the company. With the technology that Firewire uses in their
surfboards, it enables them to make lighter, stronger, more flexible surf boards. Materials have
always led the advances in surfboards (Longnecker, Petty, Palich, Moore, 2010). With the company
that supplied 90 percent of surfboard makers core materials closing and companies having to find
different materials to make their boards, Firewire has a great opportunity to take over since their
surfboards are not made of the same materials that all other boards are. Although this will allow
them to take over the surfboard industry, potential rivals will more than likely try to find ways to
keep up with Firewire just like in any other industry. Firewire will still have a good chance of
keeping ahead since they will have a nice foundation laid before the other companies can catch up.

Mari Carmen Ramirez states that Art exhibitions are privileged vehicles for the representation of
individual and collective identities, whether they consciously set out to be so or not . The most
important part of that quote is the latter part, whether they consciously set out to be so or not .
Whether or not the Museum of Modern Artwas attempting to create, or even join the ongoing
narrative about the art of Latin America when they created their survey exhibition, they indeed did.
And Wifredo Lam, and his artwork The Jungle were included in that narrative.

The figures are disjointed, having multiple arms and legs, blending into one another. Almost
unrecognizable. The figures have a distinct feminine quality, aligning with the common primitive
associations. The bodies all have a pasty moonlight glow, with eerie facial expressions. The
background of sugar cane identifies the setting as a Cuban sugarcane field, opening the aware
viewer s eyes to the political commentary the piece possess. The image, however confusing and
chaotic, is aimed to address the history of slavery in colonial Cuba, an issue Lam addresses in
many of his works. The Jungle was part of an extremely large show held at the Museum of Modern
Art in New York city from June to September in 1993. The Museum of Modern art acquired the
piece soon after it was created. The show was named Latin American Artists of the Twentieth
Century, and was deemed the most extensive survey of modern Latin American art ever assembled .
The goal of the show, as stated in the exhibition press release, was to highlight the significant
international contribution made by ...artists from throughout the Americas . An extremely
honorable goal. This whole idea fits perfectly into the discussion about museums and galleries
showing Latin American works. When showing these works in the United States museums often

The Challenges In Jeannette Walls s The Glass Castle
Imagine living as nomads, without any sense of a real home. In addition to that; living with a
troubled family that suffers from poor living conditions, alcoholism, and family drama. To what
extent would you go to fix your family, or even moving away from them? The book The Glass
Castle portrays the bizarre, impoverished upbringing Jeannette Wallsand her siblings, Lori, Brian,
and Maureen had to endure due to her dysfunctional parents. The author of the memoir The Glass

when she was old enough to have her second husband; in which I would imagine in her thirties. Her
stories consist of many adventures, both meaningful and traumatic. The reasons... Show more

There was one moment in the book where she had to make probably one of the most difficult
choices in her life, yet she did not hesitate to make that choice. Jeannette s older sister, Lori,
always wanted to move to New York to escape her delusional parents. However, she did not have
enough money to pay for a bus ticket, wiping out any hope that she had. I ll never get out of
here, Lori kept saying. I ll never get out of here. You will, I said. I swear it. I believed she would.
Because I knew that if Lori never got out of Welch, neither would I. Then one day, Jeannette was
offered $200 and a bus ticket back to Welch to take care of a woman s two toddlers in Iowa for
the summer. Instead, she insisted that the woman, Mrs. Sanders, should take Lori and her payment
be a bus ticket to New York City. The fact that Jeannette easily made the decision of sacrificing
her ticket for Lori amazes me; she knew how important the trip the New York was for her, so she
wanted to make that dream happen. When Lori left, Jeannette still did not give up on her dream to
go to New York and become a journalist. She joined just about every extracurricular event at the
school to gain the attention of colleges, particularly in New York. The motivation that can be found
in this is that you cannot give up on your ambitions

Building trust within the company is a major success factor because the employees are also

speak highly of the company when they are not at work. Offering ethics training, a code of
conduct, and just generally taking the time to work out this issue will increase profits while
decreasing any possible theft from the business. Once internal issues are resolved with
employees, the company then needs to work on supplying to the grocery stores in certain area
affordable products. The company needs to be supplying the stores with products that are cost
efficient for the area they are being sold in. The community will look at this in a positive way
because the stores are providing products that are affordable to them and not making them feel
unworthy because they can t afford the products in the store. This will also increase the number of
customers that would visit the stores and the rate of customers returning would increase as well.
This will not only help increase sales within the stores depending on locations, but it will also
decrease the amount of products that would have to be discarded. Finally, the store needs to
participate in community programs that are going to benefit the community overall. Donating to

Examples Of Masculinity In The Pursuit Of Happyness
Masculinity in The Pursuit of Happyness
Nowadays, men should break down traditional norms like taking care of family, which women are
supposed to do. The Pursuit of Happyness, directed by Gabriele, is a movie based on a true story
of an African American man named Chris Gardner, a multi millionaire investor and a motivational
speaker. Gardner is not only a persistent, hard working, and confident man, but also an emotional
and a responsible father who played both masculine and feminine roles as a single parent. Thus,
he is a clear example that proves the negative stereotype about African American men is wrong.

In the article Becoming Members of Society, Aaron Devor mentions that confidence is one of
the most important characters of men (393). Through the movie, it is easy to realize that
Gardner was really confident since he never showed any fear in bad situations where people
mostly feel nervous. As an illustration, when attending an interview of an internship course, he
did not dress formally, even worse than normal, since he appeared with a dirty face and wore a
tank top, a jean jacket and blue jeans instead of a vest and a tie. Due to his dirty appearance, he
made interviewers think that he looked down on them. He was not embarrassed, but he controlled
himself to remain calm by explaining the reasons for his casual performance. During the interview,
he was as confident as giving concise answers when being questioned, so he was accepted to be an
intern at a stock company. Therefore, Gardner s story demonstrates that confidence is an important
masculinity trait and men should have it or improve themselves to be self confident because of its

Effectiveness In Youth Justice Research
In order to explore how one can ensure effectiveness while working within the youth justice
system, we must explain what is meant by being effective . Before studying the topic, my
personal working definition was that being effective in youth justice is working in a way which
is proven to work to reduce recidivism . Effective practice has been defined by the Youth Justice
Board as practice which produces the intended results (Chapman Hough, 1998) and specific
practice can ultimately be classified into five categories: 1. Research proven 2. Promising evidence
3. Emerging evidence 4. Treat with caution 5. Ineffective(Archer, 2013) On the surface, this system
of classification implies that to be effective means using practice which is... Show more content on

Similarities Between Gary Goss Pleasantville And Blue Velvet
While suburbia is not quite a city to be registered as a cinematic city, it has its own specific way
of life just any city does. The speciality of suburbia though, is that it can be branded, sold and
recreated in most places in America. It is the complete full circle of the American Dream, or better
yet it is the trademarked edition. The 1950 s are thought of as the peak, or stereotypical best, the
American Dream with the white picket fence, 2.5 kids, and a hot meal waiting for you when you
get home. While this idea may be postcard or billboard perfect, it is not as perfect for everyone
involved or for the future when it looked at from under the service. Gary Ross Pleasantville and
David Lynchs Blue Velvet both explore the idea of the suburban American Dream and that it is not
as squeaky clean perfection as it seems.
Gary Ross Pleasantville is the story of two modern day children being magically zapped into a TV
Land esque show, called Pleasantville, about stereotypical perfect 1950 s life in the suburbs.

Pros And Cons Of A Child With Special Needs
Prisoners with Special Needs
A child with special needs tend to inspire us to be more patient and grateful while a prisoner with
special needs makes us wonder where the parents and inmate went wrong. The United States
Corrections system is home to thousands of prisoners. The purpose of this paper is to explain how
special needs, mentally ill, and substance abusing prisoners affect the jail and prison systems at both
state and federal levels. The effects of neglect towards these prisoners will be explained and
possible consequences associated with the acts. Lastly, the pros and cons of prison programs for
special needs inmates will be thoroughly explained.
Effects on the Jails and Prisons There are several different types of offenders in prison. Among the
prison population are mentally ill prisoners, special needs offenders, and substance abusing
offenders. These special offenders affect the jail and prison systems at state and federal levels
because they require more intensive or specialized services to be successfully reintegrated into
society. If they do not receive special attention, they can harm themselves or others, or become sick
from substance related illnesses. Mentally ill offenders must have access to psychiatric health,
mental health therapies, psychotropic medications, and types of special offenders need to be
separated from the rest of the prison population to prevent them from hurting other inmates. They
also must be monitored at all times so they do not

1950 s Sociology
The 1950 s saw a boom in the development of suburbs to counter the post World War 2 housing
shortage problem as living in the suburbs offered an alternative to the overcrowded cities. This
phenomenon coincided with the significant growth of the American economy, which granted the
people stronger purchasing power to own a big house in the suburbs and the confidence to improve
their socioeconomic status. Consequently, the suburban lifestyle came to be associated with strong
familial ties and upward social mobility, which can be defined as the American ideals of the 1950 s.
It is important to note that the media had a very significant role in shaping these ideals, mainly

context, these American ideals coincided with the Civil Rights Movement (1954) which sought to
end racial discrimination and segregation, therefore highlighting how these ideals did not
encompass Americans from all walks of life but only the white majority. Hence in leaving out
Americans from other racial and social groups, the media mostly shaped only the American ideals
of the white majority as it failed to encompass America as a diverse

Henry Viii s Second Pregnancy
February of 1518 brought with it the announcement of a royal pregnancy. Catherine of Aragon,
Henry VIII s first wife, announced her sixth pregnancy[]. Not unlike her previous five pregnancies,
this one was greeted with as much, if not more caution than excitement. Henry VIII wanted nothing
more than to produce a son to carry on his name and to continue the Tudor dynasty, and until this
point, he and Catherine had not been granted that luxury. After two stillborns, two infant deaths,
and the birth of one daughter, Mary, the hope that Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragonwould
produce a son was all but diminished. That hope was not soon restored, as Catherine delivered a
girl on the Tenth of November in 1518, and the infant died within hours of her birth.
Henry VIII s marriage to Catherine of Aragon had often been described as unusually good by the
people they interacted with in daily life[]. They slept together often, they spent a lot of time
together outside of their regular royal duties, and they seemed to get along together quite well.
However, not unlike most kings in that time, Henry VIII did carry on affairs with other women.
His most notable affair while married to Catherine was with Elizabeth Blount, who was a lady in
waiting to the Queen. While most of Henry s affairs were short lived, his relationship with
Elizabeth Blount lasted close to eight years []. In June of 1519, Blount gave birth to healthy boy,
and the boy was named Henry.

Training and Development in Small Businesses
Introduction
Increased globalization coupled with a myriad of other factors such as entry of more firms into the
market and use of better machines have led to immense competition between various firms (Steele,
2009). This has made strategic managers to think of ways and means of not only ensuring
maximum productivity, but also gaining a competitive advantage within the market at large. Small
and developing businesses also ensure better practises within various departments such as human
resource, production, sales and marketing. This is because they have to strive hard to attract and

As such, the first step that should be undertaken at Kudler Fine Foods is to design a training and
development strategic plan. This will ensure the adoption of a strategic approach towards instilling
knowledge and skills to the employees. Secondly, there is a need to conduct a training needs
analysis (Blanchard amp; Thacker, 2007). This can be conducted through administering of
questionaries to employees who will point out areas in which they require training. Thirdly, the
cost of training and developing employees should be considered (Steele, 2009). This is essential
since a firm cannot invest beyond its means. Fourthly, there is a need to prepare trainers adequately.
This can be done through providing necessary materials and informing trainers of the desired goals
and objectives. Lastly, an evaluation system should be developed (Rae, 2007). This will help in
measuring the effectiveness of training and development on performance management.

Animal Experimentation And The Human Understanding Of...
Any knowledge obtained, or currently being obtained, through the use of animals is beneficial to
furthering the human understanding of medicine (Greek et al. 15). Throughout history, animal
experimentation has been a key component in understanding the fundamentals of human life. Kay
Peggs argues that virtually every major medical advance of the last century is due, in part, to
research with animals (624). Before recent times, scientists could easily dissect animals strictly for
exploration and curiosity (Greek et al. 15). The knowledge gained from animal experimentation has
helped scientists get desired results without causing direct harm to humans. Without animal
experimentation, medicine and education would be in the dark ages.
In today s times, using animals for medical research and education is a highly controversial issue.
Some believe that it is not justifiable to use animals to serve as human models. They argue that
humans are the best models for human disease and treatment efficacy, not animals. However,
humans cannot be test subjects for the benefit of society without volunteering to participate and
fully understanding the question being researched. This is for all human beings, including
prisoners, the mentally impaired, and unwanted children (Rollin 5). Also, according to the USDA,
the first requirement for a new medical drug or vaccine to be considered for a clinical trial is that
nonhuman animal subjects were used during the development and testing

Overview of Consumer Behavior
Consumer Behavior
Introduction
Engel (1986) define consumer behavior as those acts of individuals directly involved in obtaining,
using and disposing of economic goods and services, including the decision processes that precede
and determine these acts . The present paper is a reflective journal based in which three different
marketing activities have been selected and analyzed from the perspective of their influence on
consumer behavior.
Entry 1
The Marketing Activity
This is a Rolex advertisement in which the company used Tennis Star for the marketing of their
brand. Marketing through Celebrities is very common as people like them and idealize these star
whether they are sports persons, actors and actresses or other celebrities. The advertisement has
been compiled on the qualities of the tennis star. Thus it is not only the advertising of Rolex but
also the star himself.
Concepts
Situational Context
A situation is defined as factors or something over and above the characteristics of a person and
product (Pachauri, 2002). Kakkar and Lutz (1981) pointed out that situational effects might be
behavioral (for example, entertaining friends), experimental, or perceptual (for example, being
depressed or being pressed for time). Therefore consumer behavior is influenced by both extrinsic
and intrinsic factors (Davis and Bagozzi, 1992). The advertisement was placed in a sports event
which has both entertaining value and experimental. Another aspect is involving celebrity

The Importance Of School Dress Codes
An Atlanta school board is set to announce in January its decision on the petition of two 5th
grade students to change the school s dress code. The girls wanted to be allowed to wear
skintight leggings without any skirt or shorts on top of the leggings. Similar debates are taking
place in other schools across the US as students seek more liberal changes to their schools dress
codes. The push is in response to recent changes made by some school boards, similar to public
schools in Evanston, Illinois, which allowed students to wear anything, but the genitalia and the
nipple of the breast must be covered, Psychology Today reported. Liberal dress code The result
of the liberal dress code is many female students go to school wearing skintight leggings and a
tight top that starts just above the breasts and ends above the belly button. It has been a clothing
trend in more than 400 schools the past 16 years. The acceptance of such types of apparel for
school has become so common when at the turn of the millennium, it would be unusual for a
female teenager to attend class in a very short skirt and thin material made of mesh for her top,
with undergarments visible under the mesh. Studies show that when girls frequently wear skintight
leggings or a swimsuit (outside the pool), she is engaged in self objectification. The girl sees
herself as an object of display for others. The more the public the setting is when she wears those
flimsy clothing, the more likely that

Nuclear Energy Is Energy Generated From The Fission Or...
Nuclear Energy Jason Venturini April 6, 2016 What is nuclear energy? Nuclear energy is
energy generated from the fission or fusion of enriched uranium. The power plants in which this
type of energy is made are called nuclear power plants, but have many variations in how this
energy is achieved. Almost all reactors use heat generated from the enriched uranium pellets to
bring water to a boil, and use steam powered generators to create power. In Canada, the type of
reactor used is called a Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR), a method created by Canada
in the 1950 s. In the next sections the inner workings of the PHWR method will be examined
and its safety explained. How does PHWR work? As mentioned before, many nuclear reactors
use enriched uranium. PHWR, however, does not for cost reasons as enrichment facilities for
uranium are complicated, expensive and the PHWR method is much more efficient. It avoids
the usage of enriched uranium through heavy water as a coolant instead of light water. Canada
specific reactors, called CANDU (CANada Deuterium Uranium) reactors use 30 40% less fuel
than light water based reactors. With the benefits of using heavy water out of the way, the
complicated process of creating energy from small uranium pellets the size of half an AA battery
will be explained as simply as possible. The process starts with hundreds of pellets being incased
in metal, welded into small cylinders and inserted into a large tank called the calandria . Nuclear

Emergency Contraception For Women s Reproductive Rights
In class, we have been discussion current controversies around the use of emergency contraception
for women. Women s reproductive rights are one of the most influential human rights battles
facing our society. Women s reproductive rights activists state that women should be allowed
emergency contraception, because it declines the rates of abortions and is a staple for women s
health and independency. Opponents of emergency contraception declare it is against their
religious beliefs because it causes abortions (). The article, Crisis of Conscience, which we

areas cornering religious freedom of expression and human rights.
In this article, the author is trying to provide the reader with a complete picture of the national

Importance Of Social Location
In sociology, social location is defined as the spaces that people occupy due to their location in
society, which also refers to how groups in a society experience the interactive effects of
intersecting social hierarchies. In other words, social location is the sum effect of various factors,
including social class, race, gender, and geographic location on an individual s experience, life
chances and worldview. Like most people, my social location is greatly affected by the intersection
of my race, gender, social class, however, what contributed the most to my social location is my
family, especially my mother.
The reason I choose my mother as a determining factor of my social location is because of the
fact that my social class as of now is based on that of the value my mother has given me. To my
point of view, the environment that one s growing up plays a great role in shaping one s
identity. My mother spent most of her life with her mother who had been divorced by her
husband when she was still very young. As the only workforce of her family, started working as a
laborer in farms, where she had to compete with strong male workers, in 1970s after the Great
Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China, where farmers gains were based on their labor force.
Then she got married to my father, who had five younger siblings and disabled parent, in 1987. The
upward intergenerational mobility that my mother has experienced had shaped her worldview.

Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead And Hamlet Analysis
Shakespeare and Stoppard were one of most well known playwrights during their respective
centuries they lived in. Shakespeare s publication of Hamlet became a very popular play to read
and watch. In Hamlet, the main character, Prince Hamlet, is in a great dilemma. His father is killed
by his uncle Claudius, so then Claudius is able to take the throne and become the King of Denmark.
Hamletfinds this out from the ghost, and Hamlet is not sure how to avenge his father s death or
whether he should even attempt to. In Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the main characters,

that they can just follow the script. The Player says, Follow directions there s no choice involved
(Stoppard 80). So both of the plays share the same concept with the theme of fate vs. free will. In
both plays, the main characters believe that they can t control their destiny and that they are born to
follow instructions. Both of the main characters accept their fate, but there is a huge difference in
how they accept their fates. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern do a coin toss and coin lands heads 156
times in a row. Rosencrantz doesn t question this and just blindly accepts it. The characters have no
wit and just think everything is controlled by fate. On the other hand, Hamlet analyzes what his fate
is and actually understands his fate. He understands his duty towards his family, and does not
happily accept his fate, but yet he accepts it. He questions what the ghost tells him to do. He
questions validity of the ghost s statement by putting Claudius in that mousetrap. After he finds out
the ghost was speaking the truth, he then accepts his fate. In Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz and

The All American Girls Professional Baseball League
Before we told our daughters that they could be anyone, or anything they wanted to be, we told
them that they could only be what was acceptable for women to be, and that they could only do
things that were considered ladylike. It was at this time, when the nation was frenzied with the

that they could do and be whatever it was that they chose. These women broke free of the
limitations that their family and society had set for them, and publicly broke into what had been an

Suddenly women were being called from their kitchens to work in the factories, being told that it
was their patriotic duty. The famous Rosie the Riveter image arose from this movement. Rosie
became a new image for women, being portrayed as strong, tough, and attractive. It was from this
very image that the idea for the league was born. The league was the brainchild of Philip K.
Wrigley, president of the Wrigley chewing gum company, and owner of the Chicago Cubs
National League baseball team. Wrigley was concerned with the future of baseball. The major
leagues had already lost more than half of their players to the military. The minor leagues were
even harder hit. By the start of the 1943 season, more than 3,000 minor leaguers had joined the
service or the war effort. Only nine of the nations 26 minor leagues had enough men left to play.
Aside from this reason, there was concern over the continuation of baseball by several public
figures, including President Roosevelt. It was thought that because of the long hours and
demanding work of the war effort that it was important for the American people to have a way to
blow off steam. In the fall of 1942, Wrigley assigned a three man team from the Cubs organization
to look into developing a professional baseball league for women. His theory

Understanding the Greatness of the Microscope
Diseases and plagues have claimed millions of lives over the course of human history. Many of the
illnesses that plagued the human race could be found at the microscopic level. The microscope, one
of the greatest human inventions, has helped find treatments for many of these illnesses, solve
crimes, and see into the cells that make humans what they are.
To understand the greatness of the microscope, the history of the microscope should be made
known. The origins of the microscope can be traced back to the Roman invention of glass in the
first century A.D. When the Romans experimented with different shapes of glass, they discovered
that when the middle of the glass was thicker than the edges, things that were seen through the glass
appeared larger. This discovery evolved into the first eye glass, which was made in the thirteenth
century. The first true microscope was first invented in 1590 by the Dutch glasses makers Zacharias
Janssen and his father, Hans. The first person to build and actually use the microscope scientifically
was Anton van Leeuwenhoek in the seventeenth century. He achieved much greater magnification
than other scientists had, and because of this, he was able to be the first to see miniscule creatures
such as bacteria and microorganisms living in a drop of water.
One of the reasons the microscope is a great invention is the help it has provided in the field of
medicine. The microscope has helped to diagnose and find treatments for diseases.

Journeys End was written with the intention of letting the war speak . The lives of the officers on
the front line during 1917 are examined. A key theme that is explored throughout the play is the
reactions of the mind and body, under the stress of the war. Each character represents the weakness
of the human being in an individual way, but the character on which frailty is mainly focussed is

Sherriff shows this to the audience by having Raleigh describe the war like a game at school, using
words such as cricket and rugger , which show the youth, innocence and naivety of Raleigh. When
the reality becomes clear, Raleigh s attitude towards the war changes dramatically.
The death of Raleigh at the end of the play sums up his characteristics in the best possible way, his
innocence is shown until his final moments when he compares the wound in his back to be just
the same as getting kicked in a game of rugger . His death signifies much more than the passing of
one soldier, added with Raleigh passing, the candle flame extinguishing, shows the death of society
in 1917 and of innocence, showing how nothing could return to the way it was in the years
previous to the war.
After the raid which occurs near the end of the play, Raleigh s view on the war has changed after
he witnesses the first deaths of people he knew. He questions as to how Stanhope can stay drinking
champagne whilst Osborne s body is lying out there . Again this shows the audience just how
naГЇve Raleigh is, as he has never experienced the loss of someone close to him and the effect that
the war has on people.
Despite Raleigh s innocence and weakness, he is determined to fight until the end, showing that his

with compartment syndrome of the forearm.
Background: The forearm is the most common site for compartment syndrome in the upper
extremity. The compartments of the forearm include the volar (anterior or flexor), and the dorsal
(posterior or exterior). Both bone forearm fractures and distal radius fractures are common initial
injuries that lead to acute forearm compartment syndrome. The flexor digitorum profundus and

Acute compartment syndrome is a medical emergency. It is usually cause by a severe injury. And
without treatment, it can lead to permanent muscle damage. Chronic compartment syndrome, also
known as exertional compartment syndrome, is usually not an emergency. This is most often
caused by an athletic exertion. Because the fascia does not stretch, this can cause increase pressure
on the capillaries, nerves and muscles in the compartment. The blood flow to the muscle and nerve
cells is disrupted. Without a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients, the nerve and muscle cells can
be damaged. Compartment syndrome most often occurs in the anterior compartment of the lower
leg. But can also be present in other compartments in the leg, as well as the arms, hands, feet and
buttocks. The pain and swelling of chronic compartment syndrome is caused by exercise. Athletes
who participant in activities with repetitive motions, such as running, biking, or swimming, are
more likely to develop chronic compartment syndrome. This is usually relieved by discontinuing
the exercise and is usually not dangerous. Acute compartment syndrome usually develops after a
severe injury such as a broken bone. Rarely does it develop after a relatively minor injury.
Conditions that may bring on acute compartment syndrome include: a fracture, badly bruised
muscle, reestablished blood flow after block circulation, or constricting bandages. The classic sign

Whale Rider Research Paper
Whale rider essay.
The whale rider is a film about 12 Pike whose ambition is to become chief of the MДЃori tribe.
There s only one thing standing in her way; her grandfather Koror believes that the role of chief is
restricted to males only. Pikeas persistence and determination, really shines through throughout the
movie when she really shows off her leadership skills as they are tested in many situations
throughout the movie especially when the other boys fail to find the sacred whale tooth .
Throughout the film, the director Nikki Caro has used many film techniques to show aspects of
pai s life. The opening scene is a great representation of how these were used.

Infidelity And Relationships
To gain more insight on how social media can cause infidelity in relationships, I searched social
media impact on relationships and an article, written in the summer of 2015, by Lori Ann Wagner,
and published by the Journal of Individual Psychology caught my eye. Wagner s article, When
Your Smartphone Is Too Smart for Your Own Good: How Social Media
Alters Human Relationships
argues that mediated communicationis changing the way that humans interact with each other.
Wagner states that humans desire social connections and the easiest way to meet those needs are
through social media. Humans use their five senses touch, taste, see, hear, and smell to really
understand their environment around them. Social media interferes with our... Show more content

I completely agree with that statement. When one is put in the same shoes as another, they can see
and feel the same emotions that the other portrays. Empathy is important because it bonds the
human connections. Another major point of Wagner s article was that social media can cause less
honest relationships. This is another statement that I found to be true. It is so easy to lie and scam
over the internet because anyone can take the identity of everyone since mediated communication
can block our full understanding of the environment. To debate with her statements, the reason why
People today generally prefer mediated communication rather than personal interaction... (Wagner
116) is because communication between this generation is very different from the past generations
who have not grown up with this much technology or social media. In other words, it is much more
simple to have little conversations over technology than to meet face to face every time someone
has to say something. Also, I believe that social media allows a broader spectrum for
communicating with family and loved ones. Wagner also thinks that obsessions with texting,
updating statuses, and using Snapchat are sounding a death knell for real conversation (Wagner

received attention from human resource professionals, senior management and other industrial

employees in terms of induction, recruitment, their development and training, retaining and
maintaining them within the organization. Manpower is instrumental for the technology industry
and employee turnover is a challenge in Amazon. In an increasing competitive technology
landscape, the technology industry should come into terms the need for restructuring in aspects
matching industry growth and career progression opportunities. There is a necessity to give the
high labor turnover Amazon experiences attention and arrive at benchmark practices that will solve
the administrative and operational challenge the high levels of employee turnover pose. This paper
will evaluate and analyze the impact of employee turnover using the analytical and creative problem
solving in Amazon Virtual Contact Center. The information that this report will provide will enable
Amazon to promote strategies that will reduce the high rates of employee turnover while at the

World Trade Organization (WTO) is an international institution that supervises and ensures the
executions of trade agreements and treaties among economic entities. Its headquarter is located in
Geneva (Switzerland). It was called Economic UN for its status of international trade. The volumes

institutions and one of the most important international organizations.
WTO was born out of the negotiations called the Uruguay Round and earlier negotiations under the
General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade(GATT) on 15th April 1994, aiming at cover the shortages
of GATT. GATT, the product of international free trade, is the predecessor of WTO, which was an
intergovernmental agreement about the rules of tariffs and trade signed on 30th October 1947.
However, it had been an interim agreement but not a formal international institution since it came
into force, which had hugely limited its processes of executions. Firstly, it lacked of legal binding
and powerful measures. Secondly, the interim agreement had some grey area, which cause the
agreement could not be implemented accurately. Finally, GATT discriminated different social
systems. With eight multilateral tariff and trade negotiations

  • 2. Biography Of Elvis Presley About 70 years ago, Elvis Presley roamed the world. At age 13, his hair was dark brown like some people s eyes, and his eyes were green like fresh grass being watered. He was regular height, 5 1 with no tattoos, but is planning on getting them all over his arms. His favorite outfit was black pants with a black or green t shirt or once in a while, a fancy long sleeve shirt. One really good thing about him is that he sang really well. He worked at a little food truck that when you come up to it, it smells like melted cheese and toasted bread. He also took singing lessons with his dad. He was always conceited and would think he s the best, but he was very caring. Him and his dad had a quote they used to tell each other, when things go wrong,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I looked through old yearbooks, photos, going around neighborhoods, and following him. I soon figured out that it was him that took my dad somewhere, but I don t know how far or where. A week later, my mom and I started to get on little planes and traveled around the world to find him. I soon got to this tiny country I never found out about and I assumed was close. For some reason, people had white signs with a big black sharpie written on it for my dad saying MISSING. The smell of fresh paint. So I knew he was here. Just about figured it was Victor, because he lives here according to other people in this town. This country is 1,000,000 miles away from home. I started to adventure out in the crowded forest, tropical jungle, and bright blue ocean to find him. I wouldn t let my best friend go. Mom, you have to stay. My mom didn t want to, but she agreed. I got to this one place, till I got bored and started singing. After I finished a song I wrote, I hear another of my songs that someone is singing, and that someone s voice sounds familiar. Dad? Effects Of Imperialism On The Indian Economy Effects of Imperialism to the Indian Economy In 2015 India was ranked among the highest countries globally in consumer confidence, this comes after the International Monetary Fund estimated an economic growth of up to 7% annually for the next decade in India. But this hasn t always been the case, in fact, it wasn t so long ago that Indiawas simply another colonized nation around the world, not to mention it s usually rare to see this kind of economic growth in such a small period of time. The Effects of globalization, with an emphasis on open trade networks, and the Imperial developments of the late 19th century have led to the emergence and rise of India s market based economy. This growth has been affected in a very positive way over a span of centuries by a combination of stronger economic developments brought about by a massive increase in the countries labor force and the emphasis on education and self governance. An exposure to both the Western economic systems during the imperial age until their independence in 1947 and their subsequent involvement in the Asian, Middle Eastern and African trade routes from the late 15th century placed India in an economic equilibrium where they were able to benefit from both worlds and become one of the fastest growing economies. The global economic depression of the 1930 s combined with the two world wars was crucial in establishing early seeds of economic development in India. During the global ... Obama s proposals function on one of the oldest, fundamental goals of government: to provide order and security to those governed. By requiring universal background checks, those deemed unfit to possess a firearm would not legally have a way to buy one and therefore the severity of the situation, should one of these individuals act on any rash thoughts, would be greatly reduced. Not unlike her previous five pregnancies, this one was greeted with as much, if not more caution than excitement. Henry VIII wanted nothing more than to produce a son to carry on his name and to continue the Tudor dynasty, and until this point, he and Catherine had not been granted that luxury. After two stillborns, two infant deaths, and the birth of one daughter, Mary, the hope that Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragonwould produce a son was all but diminished. Any knowledge obtained, or currently being obtained, through the use of animals is beneficial to furthering the human understanding of medicine (Greek et al. 15). Throughout history, animal experimentation has been a key component in understanding the fundamentals of human life. Kay Peggs argues that virtually every major medical advance of the last century is due, in part, to research with animals (624). Before recent times, scientists could easily dissect animals strictly for exploration and curiosity (Greek et al. 15). The knowledge gained from animal experimentation has helped scientists get desired results without causing direct harm to humans. Without animal experimentation, medicine and education would be in the dark ages. In today s times, using animals for medical research and education is a highly controversial issue. Some believe that it is not justifiable to use animals to serve as human models. They argue that humans are the best models for human disease and treatment efficacy, not animals. However, humans cannot be test subjects for the benefit of society without volunteering to participate and fully understanding the question being researched. This is for all human beings, including prisoners, the mentally impaired, and unwanted children (Rollin 5). Concepts Situational Context A situation is defined as factors or something over and above the characteristics of a person and product (Pachauri, 2002). Kakkar and Lutz (1981) pointed out that situational effects might be behavioral (for example, entertaining friends), experimental, or perceptual (for example, being depressed or being pressed for time). • 22. The Importance Of School Dress Codes An Atlanta school board is set to announce in January its decision on the petition of two 5th grade students to change the school s dress code. The girls wanted to be allowed to wear skintight leggings without any skirt or shorts on top of the leggings. Similar debates are taking place in other schools across the US as students seek more liberal changes to their schools dress codes. The push is in response to recent changes made by some school boards, similar to public schools in Evanston, Illinois, which allowed students to wear anything, but the genitalia and the nipple of the breast must be covered, Psychology Today reported. Liberal dress code The result of the liberal dress code is many female students go to school wearing skintight leggings and a tight top that starts just above the breasts and ends above the belly button. It has been a clothing trend in more than 400 schools the past 16 years. The acceptance of such types of apparel for school has become so common when at the turn of the millennium, it would be unusual for a female teenager to attend class in a very short skirt and thin material made of mesh for her top, with undergarments visible under the mesh. Studies show that when girls frequently wear skintight leggings or a swimsuit (outside the pool), she is engaged in self objectification. The girl sees herself as an object of display for others. The more the public the setting is when she wears those flimsy clothing, the more likely that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Nuclear Energy Is Energy Generated From The Fission Or... Nuclear Energy Jason Venturini April 6, 2016 What is nuclear energy? Nuclear energy is energy generated from the fission or fusion of enriched uranium. The power plants in which this type of energy is made are called nuclear power plants, but have many variations in how this energy is achieved. Almost all reactors use heat generated from the enriched uranium pellets to bring water to a boil, and use steam powered generators to create power. In Canada, the type of reactor used is called a Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR), a method created by Canada in the 1950 s. In the next sections the inner workings of the PHWR method will be examined and its safety explained. How does PHWR work? As mentioned before, many nuclear reactors use enriched uranium. PHWR, however, does not for cost reasons as enrichment facilities for uranium are complicated, expensive and the PHWR method is much more efficient. It avoids the usage of enriched uranium through heavy water as a coolant instead of light water. Canada specific reactors, called CANDU (CANada Deuterium Uranium) reactors use 30 40% less fuel than light water based reactors. With the benefits of using heavy water out of the way, the complicated process of creating energy from small uranium pellets the size of half an AA battery will be explained as simply as possible. The process starts with hundreds of pellets being incased in metal, welded into small cylinders and inserted into a large tank called the calandria . Nuclear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like most people, my social location is greatly affected by the intersection of my race, gender, social class, however, what contributed the most to my social location is my family, especially my mother. • 32. Understanding the Greatness of the Microscope Diseases and plagues have claimed millions of lives over the course of human history. Many of the illnesses that plagued the human race could be found at the microscopic level. The microscope, one of the greatest human inventions, has helped find treatments for many of these illnesses, solve crimes, and see into the cells that make humans what they are. To understand the greatness of the microscope, the history of the microscope should be made known. The origins of the microscope can be traced back to the Roman invention of glass in the first century A.D. When the Romans experimented with different shapes of glass, they discovered that when the middle of the glass was thicker than the edges, things that were seen through the glass appeared larger. This discovery evolved into the first eye glass, which was made in the thirteenth century. The first true microscope was first invented in 1590 by the Dutch glasses makers Zacharias Janssen and his father, Hans. The first person to build and actually use the microscope scientifically was Anton van Leeuwenhoek in the seventeenth century. He achieved much greater magnification than other scientists had, and because of this, he was able to be the first to see miniscule creatures such as bacteria and microorganisms living in a drop of water. One of the reasons the microscope is a great invention is the help it has provided in the field of medicine. The microscope has helped to diagnose and find treatments for diseases. ...
