2. ME IN 30 SECONDS
Organization and accomplishing tasks are my strengths. I
have had many opportunities to serve in leadership and
mentoring positions, and I enjoy working with others and
helping them reach their goals. I am hard working with a
cheerful and positive attitude. I am a problem solver and a
team player. I love being creative through
photography, graphic design, music and clothing
design, and I love learning new things.

3. ESSAYS
• What matters most to me and why?
 I think it is vital that people are personable, have people skills, and are willing
to help others. It makes the work place happier and run smoother.
• What are my 3 most significant accomplishments?
 My 3 most significant accomplishments are that I have been faithful to the
church throughout my youth, I have developed self-confidence and a vision of
who I really am, and I have taught myself how to do things of a creative nature
and have made them my talents.
• What does disciple leadership mean to me?
 I think that a disciple leader is someone who strives with their whole heart to
be like Jesus Christ and someone who others look to for an example of who our
Savior wants us to be.
• Why do I want to study business and why at BYU-I?
 At the begging of my senior year I had no intentions of studying business at
BYU-Idaho, but through the promptings of the spirit I felt that it was the right
choice for me. Now that I am here, at BYU-I, and studying business I know that
it is the right path for me!

4. KEY INSIGHTS ON RETURN
• We are here on earth to go through experiences that will shape our
lives in either a good direction or in a bad direction. How we handle
ourselves and our trials is what determines which direction we will
move in this life.
• This earthly life is a time to prepare to meet God and to grow
intellectually, spiritual, and mentally.
• As humans, we are going to make mistakes here in mortality. We
must not only repent of those sins, but we have to forgive
ourselves for what we have done wrong as well. If we don’t, it
stops our spiritual progression.
• We must remain faithful to the gospel in every area of our life. In
work, home, and in all that we do. As leaders, We must stand up for
who we are and what we believe in. There will always be those who
will stand up with us.

• Why did you choose a job in marketing?
 Mr. Salisbury has a degree in International Finance
 Started working at Bank of America and decided that he didn’t like it, so he started to research the field of
marketing.
 Researched and watched people who were successful in marketing and started doing what they were
doing.
 He now owns his own successful business.
 Works a lot on online marketing.
• What are some pros and cons of your job?
 Con-Doesn’t like how some people do not provide good service for customers.
 Pro-Loves the analytical side of marketing. What do people want? How can we get it to them? Etc.
 Pro-He gets to study the art, science, and psychology of business.
• What talent and skills are the most crucial to success in your line of work?
 You have to be able to constantly learn new things. Marketing is constantly changing.
 You will spend a lot of time reading, studying, and re-learning things; be willing to do that.
 You have to be creative and know how to problem solve.
 You have to understand the fundamentals and statistics. This is the scientific approach in marketing.
 You need to be organized, know how to do research, manage big projects, and be able to run tests.
• What training and background is important to have in marketing?
 You need to know the online side of marketing. Example: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
 Understand what gets people engaged and how to get people interested in your company.
 Learn to be good at writing and research; You do a lot of writing, blogging, and research in marketing.
 You need to be able to quickly learn.
 Understand other companies and speak their lingo.

• Why did you choose a job in marketing?
 He loves his job, but thinks advertising is a soft degree.
 Wishes he would have learned the number and analytic side of marketing.
• What are some pros and cons of marketing?
 The pros and cons depend on what environment you are in.
 Pro-Loves big projects and doing fun and exciting things.
 Con-It takes a lot of dedication if you want to make it big; You have to work your way up to the big pay check.
• What talents and skills are the most crucial to success in your line of work?
 You have to be creative; If you are not naturally creative, you have to find a way to become creative.
 You have to learn how to think in different ways.
 Learn how to prove your worth; LinkedIn, resumes, etc.
 Look at jobs you want and see what kind of people they want to hire. Things like attributes and skills.
• Knowing what you know now, would you approach your career in the same way? If not, what would you do
differently, and why?
 He would have reached out to more people and asked them about their line of work.
 Get mentors and do Internships; people want to help you with your career.
 Figure out what you want to do NOW; you’ll save yourself a lot of wasted time doing things that aren’t
productive to your career.
• How much time do you have for family?
 He has a great boss who lets him be very flexible; Your boss can make the biggest difference in your life.
• What is some other advice for a student going into marketing?
 Get on LinkedIn and market yourself; Get to know a ton of people and then you can use them to get jobs later.
 Shadow people and see what you do and don’t like.
 Do lots of internships; It gives you experience.
 Be proactive and get yourself out there; go outside your comfort zone.
 Figure out what you want to do now; then pick up skills that will benefit you in that future job.

• Why did you choose a job in marketing?
 Started off in finances and accounting; she realized that she hated it and started looking for something else.
 She was interested in art and different visual media.
 Didn’t know marketing was an option until a professor asked her if she had ever thought about going into marketing.
She started some marketing classes and loved it!
 The more experience you have the better jobs you are going to get; you have to start small somewhere!
 The more you know and the more projects that you have done, the more valuable you will become to a company.
 Marketing is a constant learning process and you are constantly challenging yourself.
• What are some pros and cons of marketing?
 Con-The higher you get in an organization the more traveling you do.
 Con-If things aren’t going well, there is a lot of pressure to increase sales.
 Pro- You get to interact with tons of different people.
 Pro-The harder you work, the more results you are going to see.
 You need to go above and beyond to succeed. Work hard and be well educated and you will stand out.
 Starting out small is important. You can’t manage people if you don’t know what they are doing.
• What talents and skills are the most crucial to success in your line of work?
 You have to be able to communicate with and have empathy for others.
 You have to be able to listen to other’s advice. They want to help you succeed.
 You have to be hard working. Do whatever it takes to succeed.
 Be trust worthy. Don’t make your boss look bad; get stuff done on time.
 Go above and beyond what you are asked to do.
• What kind of responsibilities do you have in your position?
 Budgeting all finances for marketing. Treat the company’s money like it is you own. Be organized and keep good files.
 Public relations- good and bad; It’s not always fun to handle the bad public relations.
 Build new marketing plans.
 Handle all the printed literature for company and Social media sites. Example: Brochures Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter
