The document discusses deployment best practices and introduces goployer, an open source deployment tool. It summarizes key aspects of infrastructure as code and modern deployment approaches like blue/green and canary deployments. Goployer supports immutable infrastructure, deployment as code, measurement and testing to enable cost effective and simple deployments. The DevOps Art project aims to share infrastructure code, develop open source tools like Terraform and goployer, and conduct online workshops to foster a proper conceptual understanding of DevOps philosophy and ideal implementations based on that philosophy.

DevOps is a methodology capturing the practices adopted from the very start by the web giants who had a unique opportunity as well as a strong requirement to invent new ways of working due to the very nature of their business: the need to evolve their systems at an unprecedented pace as well as extend them and their business sometimes on a daily basis.
While DevOps makes obviously a critical sense for startups, I believe that the big corporations with large and old-fashioned IT departments are actually the ones that can benefit the most from adopting these principles and practices.

Docker containers have become a key component of modern application design. Increasingly, developers are breaking their applications apart into smaller components and distributing them across a pool of compute resources.
Christian Kniep from Docker Inc. gave this talk at the Stanford HPC Conference.
"This talk will recap the history of and what constitutes Linux Containers, before laying out how the technology is employed by various engines and what problems these engines have to solve. Afterward, Christian will elaborate on why the advent of standards for images and runtimes moved the discussion from building and distributing containers to orchestrating containerized applications at scale. In conclusion, attendees will get an update on what problems still hinder the adoption of containers for distributed high performance workloads and how Docker is addressing these issues."
Christian Kniep is a Technical Account Manager at Docker, Inc. With a 10 year journey rooted in the HPC parts of the german automotive industry, Christian Kniep started to support CAE applications and VR installations. When told at a conference that HPC can not learn anything from the emerging Cloud and BigData companies, he became curious and was leading the containerization effort of the cloud-stack at Playstation Now. Christian joined Docker Inc in 2017 to help push the adoption forward and be part of the innovation instead of an external bystander. During the day he helps Docker customers in the EMEA region to fully utilize the power of containers; at night he likes to explore new emerging trends by containerizing them first and seek application in the nebulous world of DevOps.

Abstract
There is a lot of debate whether to use Serverless or Kubernetes to build cloud-native apps. Both have their advantages and unique capabilities which developers should take into consideration when planning new projects. We will throw some light on the topics ease of use, maturity, types of scenarios, developer productivity and debugging, supported languages, DevOps and monitoring, performance, community and pricing. Cloud-native architectures shift the complexity from within an application to orchestrations of Microservices. Both Kubernetes and Serverless have their strengths which we will discuss. Besides the core development topics, developers should also understand operational aspects how complicated it is to maintain your own systems versus using managed platforms.

“I have stopped counting how many times I’ve done this from scratch” - was one of the responses to the tweet about starting the project called Spring Cloud Pipelines. Every company sets up a pipeline to take code from your source control, through unit testing and integration testing, to production from scratch. Every company creates some sort of automation to deploy its applications to servers. Enough is enough - time to automate that and focus on delivering business value.
In this presentation we’ll go through the contents of the Spring Cloud Pipelines project. We’ll start a new project for which we’ll have a deployment pipeline set up in no time. We’ll deploy to Cloud Foundry (but we also could do it with Kubernetes) and check if our application is backwards compatible so that we can roll it back on production.
Delivery Pipelines as a First Class Citizen @deliverAgile2019ciberkleid
In this talk, we will cover important elements for successful CI and CD. We will discuss how these elements make CI and CD much simpler, and hence more attainable. We will cover some best practices / recommendations to include in your application pipelines. We will look at a sample implementation of a pipeline leveraging modern tools. Finally, we will discuss some forthcoming ideas for making it even easier to declaratively enable CI and CD for applications.
Docker-native Automated Delivery w/ CaylentJP La Torre
These are slides from a talk on continuous delivery and continuous deployment with Docker containers. Stefan Thorpe, CTO of Caylent, discusses general concepts, best practices, and techniques for achieving true CD with Docker artifacts. These slides accompany a presentation and demo that was given at the DockerNYC meetup on January 24, 2017.

In the world of fast changing technologies and business requirements there is no way to stay with old-school approaches to develop software. Common, leave manual interaction behind, let machine do what it's best capable for and spend your time to solve real problems. During this talk I'm going to demonstrate how to build a sophisticated continuous development pipeline for Java based project to cover things like build, test, code quality, deploy and delivery using Gradle, Jenkins, SonarQube, Docker and Ansible. As an outcome of this presentation there will be an open source project with source code.
Continuous Deployment of your Application @SpringOneciberkleid
Spring Cloud Pipelines is an opinionated framework that automates the creation of structured continuous deployment pipelines.
In this presentation we’ll go through the contents of the Spring Cloud Pipelines project. We’ll start a new project for which we’ll have a deployment pipeline set up in no time. We’ll deploy to Cloud Foundry and check if our application is backwards compatible so that we can roll it back on production.
Continuous Integration Testing Techniques to Improve Chef Cookbook QualityJosiah Renaudin
Chef, Puppet, and other tools that implement “infrastructure as code” are great for configuration management and automated deployments, but it is difficult to test these infrastructure scripts before putting them into production. Since infrastructure as code is a relatively new technology, methodologies for its testing are not yet standardized. Glen Buckholz shares a way to solve the two major problems with testing Chef scripts—[1] capturing a start state similar to your target environment, and [2] rolling back to the starting state when your script fails. Development techniques are typically ad-hoc with most developers creating a personal method of testing in their own environment or circumstance. Glen shows how to use established continuous integration (CI) techniques to allow an automated platform to more quickly generate test results and automatically stage the code to the Chef server. By linking together established CI and testing techniques, we can hold Chef code development to the same mature standard as application programming.
Extensible dev secops pipelines with Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, and a kitche...Richard Bullington-McGuire
Have you ever needed to wrestle a legacy application onto a modern, scalable cloud platform, while increasing security test coverage? Sometimes real applications are not easily stuffed into a Docker container and deployed in a container orchestration system. In this talk, Modus Create Principal Architect Richard Bullington-McGuire will show how to compose Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, Packer, Ansible, Packer, Vagrant, Gauntlt, OpenSCAP, the CIS Benchmark for Linux, AWS CodeDeploy, Auto Scaling Groups, Application Load Balancers, and other AWS services to create a performant and scalable solution for deploying applications. A local development environment using Vagrant mirrors the cloud deployment environment to minimize surprises upon deployment.

Continuous Delivery with Jenkins declarative pipeline XPDays-2018-12-08Борис Зора
When you start your journey with µServices, you should be confident with your delivery lifecycle. In case of mistake, you should be able to navigate to appropriate tag in vcs to reproduce the bug with a test & go though pipeline within 3 hours to production with high confidence of quality.
We will discuss set of tools that could help you to achieve this within 3 months on your project. It does not include system decoupling suggestions. And in the same time, if you decide to break down monolith, it is better to do with dev & devOps best practices.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Best practices
● Servers are never modified after they're deployed.
● If server has some problem, terminate it!
● If something needs to be updated, do deploy!
● Do troubleshooting !
But do not change something in server
● Ensure each phase is the same
● Create and use golden AMI by Packer
