The Traffic Injury Research Foundation conducted a study on driver knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding automated vehicles, revealing a significant gap between drivers' familiarity with basic automotive technologies and their understanding of fully automated systems. Survey results showed that while many drivers enjoy driving, there is a lack of confidence in using semi- and fully-automated vehicles, particularly among older and female populations. Ultimately, successful integration of these vehicles will depend on enhancing driver education about technological capabilities and limitations, and addressing public perception and trust in automated systems.
