Celebrate Wins!
On Tuesday July 24th the Wellness Team had a huge celebration. The founding team members thought
it was time to celebrate all of the wins and that is exactly what happened for all three shifts. We had 34
winners throughout the meetings. They won by having their names drawn out of “the hat” then they
were able to spin our “Wellness Wheel” for their prize. The prizes varied from gift cards, air popcorn
poppers with organic popcorn, extra virgin olive oil and many more options. Pictured are some of the
win- ners.

Wellness-Mind, Body, Spirit
WELLNESS RULE OF FIVE
#1. LIFESTYLE AND WILLINGNESS: by choosing to continually educate ourselves and being
willing to make better choices each day, we create a lifestyle that supports our optimal
health and well-being!
#2. MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT: as we consciously align our thoughts and intentions, our words
and actions, and our beliefs and positive expectations, everything we do has a greater poten-
tial for creating success and happiness in our lives.
#3. FUELING OUR BODIES: science supports a whole-foods, plant-based meal plan for main-
taining optimal health and for preventing chronic disease.
#4. FOCUSING ON FITNESS: we include all 3 areas of fitness, cardiorespiratory, muscular
fitness and joint flexibility in our exercise regime to support our health and well-being, re-
duce pain, attain emotional balance and prevent joint injury.
#5. CELEBRATING OUR WELLNESS WINS: every day we celebrate our personal wins and
those of our friends and associates, and no win is too small to be acknowledged and cele-
brated! We also welcome all testimonies from those of you who wish to share your success
stories and inspire us all!
WELLNESS TIPS FOR THE MONTH:
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BREATH
Consciously paying attention to your breathing is a very powerful way to align your
mind and body, and it can be used as a most useful tool for practical purposes:
1. Simply the act of watching your breath, even if only for a few BREATHS, increas-
es your concentration by focusing your energy.
2. You may increase your physical and mental energy by simply lengthening your
inhalation.
3. You may also calm and relax yourself by lengthening your exhalation. I sug-
gest we all pay attention to our breathing this month and use it consciously
for our benefit!
CHOOSE REAL FOOD!
As we’ve noted before, current scientific research, as stated in the medical literature,
advises a whole-foods, plant-based diet for staying healthy, preventing chronic
disease and for potentially reversing most chronic disease. This is because most of
our nutrients are found in PLANTS, not in animals! Build your primary meals and
snacks around the following whole foods (not processed!): vegetables, fruits,
whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes. If you still choose to eat animal protein, it
should fit into the palm of your hand, more of a condiment size than we are tradi-
tionally used to.
From Michael Polan, author of IN DEFENSE OF FOOD, in which he is defending REAL
FOOD:
EAT FOOD (MEANING WHOLE, REAL FOOD!). NOT TOO MUCH. MOSTLY PLANTS
As a Hexpol associate that pays close attention to our company when pro-
cesses and changes are implemented. I have noticed the last 2 years health and fitness
have been reoccurring topics that has been emphasized. At Robbins, we have been
doing morning stretches to warm up our muscles before beginning our work for the
day, participating in the office yoga, and also participating in the yearly health screen-
ings. I thoroughly enjoyed running the Hexpol 5K back in May. That was a huge mile-
stone on my journey that gave me confidence in my ability to change. I finished in 22
minutes. Before I made these changes in my life, I would have never been able to run a
5K.
When I started at Robbins back in 2015, I had put health and fitness on the
back burner. I had just found out my wife was pregnant with our first child. Over the
next few years I put on additional weight from making poor diet choices and not
getting the exercise that our bodies need. I put my family, job, and everything in be-
tween before my own health. Finally something in me woke up and I realized I had
went from this happy 6"4 200 pound young college student to an unhappy 287 pound
man that if I didn't change my poor health choices I would have some serious health
problems later on down the road. I knew then I had to make some changes. I was
wearing a 40 inch waist in jeans.
This year in January I decided to embrace health and fitness 100 percent and
make serious changes to become a happier and healthier person. I quickly identified
my main obstacle to be my poor diet choices (Mountain Dews). I was drinking 6-8
bottles a day and eating fast food at almost every meal. In January I took sodas com-
pletely out of my diet and joined a local gym. I slowly began to see some changes. After
just a few months of taking sodas out of my diet I had lost over 40 pounds. But I knew
that I didn't want to stop there. Even though I had removed all the sodas from my diet,
I still was not making good meal choices. I then decided that I would begin swapping
out steak for grilled chicken and pork for grilled salmon and tilapia.
Over the last 7 months I have made healthy diet and exercise choices that have paid
dividends enough to lose 101 pounds from 287 where I started. Currently, I am still
pushing myself everyday to make good diet choices and continue my daily workout
plan of going to the gym before work. I now sit at 186 pounds and have reduced my
body fat % from 31 percent to 16%. I went from a 40 inch waist to a 32 inch waist in
jeans.
Without the support and knowledge that Hexpol has put on wellness, I don't
know if I would have ever considered making these changes in my life. I have enjoyed
sharing and would like to tell anybody that
is unhappy with their current state of
health or appearance that it is never to late
to make changes and choose wellness.
