Rally at the River
1. Peggy Jones McCollum from our Muscle Shoals, AL campus has been
involved with the Rally at The River for quite some time. She got involved
when she rode with the Southern Crosiers Riding Club. They were asked to
come up with a charity event and she was asked to be the coordinator.
They all thought the first year would be the last one. The Rally was on the
second Saturday of June and with the help of her friend who donated a
boat that they auctioned off, they raised $28,000. That same year, Peggy’s
son, who was a senior in high school, had a car wreck on July 12th. He was
on life support for 12 weeks with not much hope that he was going to
make it. Peggy was off work for several months and not getting a pay
check. Friends, church family and even strangers donated money to help
her family. As a way to give back since so many people had graciously
helped her family, she decided to continue the Rally at the River event.
Rally at the River
Fundraiser for St. Jude’s
2. This year was the 15th Annual Rally at the River for St Jude’s
Children's Research Hospital, and again it was a huge success. It
was one of the largest turnouts and more vendors than ever. The
event raised over $21,000 and money is still trickling in putting us at
over $200K raised in the history of this event for St Jude’s.
3. Associates from our Dyersburg, TN and Kardoes campus made a special trip to
attend the event. This was a great opportunity for Associate’s from various
campuses to meet one another while giving back to the community. The
Robbin’s campus has been a huge supporter of this event since becoming part
of the HEXPOL Nation five years ago.
4. The day started with Peggys granddaughter, Lexi, opening the activities by
singing the National Anthem. There was a lot of great music, food, and
prizes. There was also fly overs all day by the Warbirds – a special thanks to
BJ Kennamore. All in all it was a wonderful day!
5. A message from Peggy:
“I feel blessed to have so many friends and coworkers to help me support this
very worthy cause. Helping just one child makes it worth all the effort. I
would like to add it is a great honor to work for such a caring company as
HEXPOL. Our goal for next year is $50,000.”
