As you can see from my research I
have gained information about my
audience and feedback on my short
video idea, I have found out my
target audiences preferences and
opinions. Most of the feedback I got
was useful and positive to help me
construct my short film and most
people seemed to like my idea for
my film.
Now that I have an understanding of BBFC age ratings and knowing what will be
involved in my short film production I will most likely set the age rating at U or possibly
a PG depending on the final outcome. I have come to this conclusion because my
short film production doesn’t involve anything that would class the film above a U or
PG as it is just about time and a characters lifetime.
Looper opened on September 28, 2012, in 2,992
theaters in North America and grossed US$20,801,522

the film in the U.S was 2,993 theaters and it ended up
earning US$66.5 million domestically and US$110
million internationally for a total of US$176.5 million,
against its US$30 million production budget.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 93% based
on 250 reviews, with an average rating of 8.1/10. The
critical consensus reads, "As thought-provoking as it is
thrilling, Looper delivers an uncommonly smart, bravely
original blend of futuristic sci-fi and good old-fashioned
action.”On Metacritic the film has a score of 84 out of
100, based on 44 critics, indicating "universal acclaim”.
Audiences polled by the market research firm

 Research potential production techniques you might want to use
or feel would be most appropriate – these can be related to
camera, editing, story, sound, etc
 You should look at a minimum of 3 related products in your
research.
 You should collect clips/still images/how to guides/etc that might
help you. When watching scenes from films, etc you could also
ask potential target audience what they think.
 You will need to add extra slides!
 With each technique you should assess whether you can use it or
how you might employ or why you may want to disregard it
completely
Camera shots – When making
my production I will be using
camera angles as a way to help
me portray a narrative and help
give the production creative
influence by using creative
shots, I will be using shots such
as extreme close ups (ECU) to
show a characters facial
expressions and emotions, I will
also be using shots such as
close ups for items like pictures
or tilted close ups to portray a
sense of disorientation.
Most of the camera shots that I will use will be to help me show the passage of time
such as I will be doing time lapses and animations of a picture book, therefore in
these scenes I will need to be using creative and innovative camera shots to help
portray the passage of time.

Sound - There are multiple scenes which involve sound techniques that I could
possibly use especially in this movie clip for Deadpool 2, this clip has multiple audio
techniques that I could possibly use such as the diegetic audio which allows the
audience to hear Wade Wilsons music form his headphones and then when he takes
them off you can hear the natural sound, this makes the audience feel as if they are
hearing what Wade/Deadpool is hearing. This type of audio is very clever and
appealing for the audience however within my production I am planning on not using
much diegetic audio.

In this 60 second short film called “grow” it used a lot of simple editing techniques that I
would also like to implement into my production, the cuts are quite quick however the
shots are also quite long this allows for the product to have a slow pace to it and allows
the audience to focus on the characters and see the age difference between them all.
This short film has given me a lot of inspiration for my own production too as it also
implements the progression of time similar to mine.
EXPERIMENTS
Camera/Editing/Audio Experiments
Be prepared to add extra slides
Here you can see the audio that I have used to redub the scene, I have used multiple
different types of audio to recreate this scene to make it more authentic and seem
more believable. I have gotten these audio clips by using recording my own audio
clips in and around the college area, such as the fridge and freezer doors closing,
the clinking of the cans and many more. I have also used royalty free sounds from
online for sounds like footsteps, car alarms, shop music, etc. When implementing
these audio clips into my work I had to trim them and time them to fit the scene
without being delayed or too fast.
The elements from my experiment that I will include in my work will be the timing of
audio clips with visual clips to make the scenes and audio run fluidly together.
I will also use the audio track mixer
board to make my audio clips
quieter or louder so they fit the
scenes appropriately and make it
less noticeable that the audio has
been implemented in post.
Other elements I will use from my experiment would be royalty free audio files, I will
do this because some audio clips would be too hard or impossible to get from my own
recordings.
Other elements from my experiments
I will add into my work will be audio
transitions such as fade ins and outs
to make a more realistic feel to the
film.
Some potential constraints that might limit my production could be time, this is because I get
home at 6:30pm from college each day therefore I wont have daylight to film in or much time,
however I do have 3 day off college per week which would allow me to spend a full day or days
on either filming or recording.
Another constraint on production would be the distance between my location and college as I am
currently based in Harrogate and transport to and from college is very expensive, therefore I
need to utilise and use my time in and outside college efficiently.
One more constraint on my production is that my actors may not be free on ideal days to shoot,
this could cause a huge problem as it would stop production, however with the right planning and
organisation this shouldn’t occur.
Some other potential constraints on production could be that the applications may crash and
work may be lost or files could become corrupt, although there is not a lot I can do to prevent this
I can prepare for it by regularly saving my work and making backups.
Another potential constraint could be if I were to forget equipment or if equipment was faulty, this
would greatly effect production and slow it down. I will prevent this by checking equipment is in
good condition before use and that I leave college with the correct equipment.
