2. Genre
o My target audience is 16 to 25 year old students in school or
university. My magazine is separated into a male and female
genre.
oTaking inspiration from ‘Women’s/ Men’s Health’ and
‘Cosmopolitan’ I aim to base my magazine on a health,
wellness and student dedicated genre. While widening my
target audience by including fashion elements.
oSelf-love is an important factor to my magazine. As a trending
topic, looking after yourself (especially as a student) is
something my target audience will relate to and find helpful.
oUsing a bright colour palette I can create a positive overall mise-
en-scene to my magazine.
3. Target audience
o I am targeting a rather niche audience, interested in improving their self
image, self love and the different possibilities to express individuality and
being yourself through fashion. In addition, individuals interested in
improving themselves as students and reaching their full potential.
o Using bright colours, I will draw in a younger adult/teen audience. My
first magazine will incorporate mostly pinks and bright yellows to
stereotypically draw in a female audience. As expected, my second
magazine will include blues and greens to hopefully target a male audience.
o The magazine will include useful information for young people rather than
the standard marketing slogans that are cliché and outdated.
oInteractive content such as links to websites, social media posts and
comment sections will further target a young demographic.
o With my magazine being £3.99, I am creating a high-quality standard for
my readers.
4. Audience feedback
o‘I would be happy
paying £3.99. Most
magazines are that
price’ –Female, 18.
o‘It looks cool and the
slogans are catchy’ –
Male, 17.
o‘Looks like your typical
girl magazine. Not
something I’m
interested in’ –Male, 25.
