Evaluation question

1. How we will attract the audience to watch our
product?

2. In our media product, the two-minute opening to
our film, ”Gone” we tried to appeal to certain
target audience, which is really important. We
have to make sure that the key features were met.
We aimed for quite young audience so we
needed to think about different aspects to attract
this audience.

3. During our questionnaire we have found out that young
people like watching action as they like adrenaline and
mysterious that the genre gives the film. We have consider
what will appeal to females and what to males. We did
come up with the protagonist which is revealed in first two
minutes and his awared, Dally which is kidnaped. This
encourage audience to watch rest of the video as they will
what to know what will happen later as she is already
kidnaped in first place.

4. When creating a opening we kow
that it needed to have specialist
features that would attract the
audience into watching the film.
The most important factors that
we take into consideration are the
following:
• Music
• Shots
• Plot
Music is extremely important
because it creates the
atmosphere of the scene and
tells the audience how they
should be feeling and what
emotions they may be
experiencing when watching
the movie.

5. Music adds scale to the scene and makes it
look more dramatic and it changes depending
on the situation the characters are in. For
instance if a character has suffered a loss there
will be slow, sad music being played, whereas
if someone is being chased then the music
will be fast and upbeat.

6. Shots are another vital factor to take
into account when creating a film as
they show different perspectives and
they enhance the way that the plot is
told. If only one type of shot is used
throughout the starting of a film then it
will bore the audience and will not
attract them into watching the whole
film.

7. Plot is by far the most
important element of a film as it
predicts the success of the
movie and determines whether
the audience will be interested
in watching the film or not. The
plot portrays the message and
theme of the film, and keeps
the audience engaged as to
what is going to happen next. In
a movie if the plot is poor then

8. Taken these three factors into consideration we created our opening
scene. We believe that we have used a range of music that link in to
the different situations the characters are in, we have used a variety
of shots such as: low shot, eye level shot, medium shot and
panoramic shot, and from our questionnaire we found out that our
plot is enticing and has a good storyline.

9. We have reveal quite a lot during those two minutes as the girl is
kidnap and taken away from the boy, the boy reveive the message
and rush to get there, see the place where girl is kept. However
this factors didn’t reveal too much and we still kept that
mysterious. As the boy gets to that destination from the message
she is already gone. This make the audience to think where is she
now as the next shot shows that she is kept now in locked place
but they don’t know where. So this create many questions that
audience will asked themselves. This will interest our audience
to keep watching the movie to get the answers to: who took her?,
where is she?, why she was taken?... We wanted to drawn the
audience attention straight from the beginig and confuse so they
will want to wach the movie.

10. At the two minutes video we don’t show
the antagonist face, which create only
the question and the audience will
want to find out the antagonist
identity. Also at the end of the opening
scene audice will see the note which is
located onto the chair. The use of
props make the scene more dramatic
as the watch of the girl is attached to
the note to prove that villan took her.

11. From the feedback that we have received from the viewers
we were happy of the results as they liked many aspects of
the opening scene and wanted said that they will want to
continue watching the movie. Also teachers said that the
narrative theory is shown clearly which encourage to watch
rest of the film as at the begining we have equilibrium,
coupl is happy and enjoy speanding time together.Then is
the distraction of the pieace, as the suspicious music and
shot appear, representing that something will happen in
next few minutes. So the uncertainty keep the audience
intrested and wanting to see the rest.Therefore I think that
many factors will attract the audience due to the fedback
we have received from them. Overall I strongly believe that
this will be very successful movie and will attract many
viewers.
