DEFINITION:
 It is defined as “the persistent tendency of a person to feel and
behave in a particular way towards some objects, events, or
persons”.
 It is a view point , a mind set or a way of valuing life.
“All birds find shelter during a rain, but EAGLE avoids rain
by flying above the clouds.
Problems are common, but ATTITUDE makes the difference”.

FORMATION OF ATTITUDE
 EXPERIENCE:
By direct contact with objects, human beings develop attitude. With
work experience, people learn attitudes. Loyalty, commitments and
performance are influenced by the attitude of a person.

 ASSOCIATION:
Association influence the attitude of a person. Depending upon
the degree of association with the groups like religion, caste,
educational background, age, person changes attitude.
 FAMILY:
The family members – parents, brothers, sisters etc., influence the
attitude of a person. Parental attitudes towards religion,
occupations, politics are the deciding factors of attitude.
 SOCIETY:
The Social factors determine the formation of attitude of an
individual. The organization structure of the society and the
cultural climate also influence the attitude.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE
 It is a mental attitude that sees good and the accomplishments in
your life, rather than the negative and failures.
 It is a mindset that helps you see and recognize opportunities.
 It means positive thinking. It is optimism and maintaining a
positive mindset.

thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks
extraordinary results”.

NEGATIVE ATTITUDE
 It is a feeling or approach which is not cooperative , constructive
or optimistic.
 It affect the quality of our life.
 It keep us to think negative thoughts and failures.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE NEGATIVE ATTITUDE
It helps to see possibilities and
opportunities in life.
It helps to see only failures and
threats in life.
Person with positive attitude
solve problems in life very easily.
Negative attitude people always
create problems and they struggle
to solve problems.
It gives confidence to achieve
goals.
It create more fear in achieving
something.
Optimistic Pessimistic
Gives you hope Makes you worry
It helps to respect other’s
opinions and ideas about
something.
It always make us to complain
others ideas and opinions.
Positive attitude people
understand other’s worries and
pains.
Negative People never
understand other’s worries.
DEVELOP POSITIVE ATTITUDE
 Associate yourself with people having Positive Attitude.
 Be optimistic and confidence.
 Have faith in yourself.
 Improve your Self-Esteem.
 Keep yourself Happy always.
 Understand the Futility of Worries.
 Read books that inspire you.
 Always look at the brighter side of life.
 Keep yourself engaged in physical and mental activities.
 Control your thoughts.
 Stop letting other people’s negative attitude s influence yours.
 Take some time to write strong positive affirmative statements.
METHODS TO CHANGE ATTITUDE
 PROVIDE INFORMATION:
Lack of sufficient information makes people to think negatively.
The correct, facts and figures will make people to change their
attitudes. So providing real information to them is one of the
techniques to change their attitudes.
 INFLUENCE WITH FRIENDS:
Sometimes perception can’t bring changes in attitude. The
influence of friends makes a person to think positive.
 THE CO-OPTING APPROACH:
In order to change attitude of an individual, he is placed in
dissatisfied group of people and making him involved in
improving.
“ Anything is possible when you have the right people to
support you”
 USE OF FEAR:
Attitudes can also be changed by creating fear in the minds of
others. When the fear is at the lower level, people often ignore
them. And when the fear is at the moderate level, people change
their attitudes. But at a higher degree of fear, people once again
reject a message and refuse to accept the change.
Studies on psychology indicate that a positive attitude and
positive thinking can bring better mental health and happiness.
