The City of Atlanta implemented a series of initiatives to improve its aging water infrastructure and increase system control. This included an ambitious project from 2009-2012 to inventory, repair, and document over 80,000 valves and fire hydrants using ArcGIS technology. To make full use of the collected asset data, Atlanta commissioned professionals to migrate the data to a GIS database. This allowed the creation of web-based maps and reports to better manage the water system assets.
This document discusses how fleet intelligence solutions from CalAmp can help governments operate their fleets in a safer, smarter, and more efficient manner. Specifically, it describes how fleet intelligence can help decrease speeding to improve fuel efficiency, determine when vehicles should be sold, monitor personal vehicle use, enhance operations visibility with mapping tools, improve productivity through dispatching of closest resources, provide insights through reporting on things like driver behavior, and improve customer service and response to weather events like snow. Cloud Powered IoT: Connected Solutions Helping CommunitiesAmazon Web Services
The Internet of Things (IoT) solutions have the ability to transform public services in a positive way and when powered by cloud-based services, solutions can securely and cost-effectively scale and provide benefits to people that need them the most. Nexleaf’s mission is to preserve human life and protect the planet by designing sensor technologies, generating data analytics, and advocating for data-driven solutions. Nexleaf developed ColdTrace and StoveTrace solutions to improve the distribution of life-saving vaccines and to increase the adoption of cleaner cookstoves. City of Virginia Beach, in collaboration with Virginia Institute of Marine Science, developed a sensor based flood alerting system to give advance notice to citizens and first responders. In this session, you will hear from both about how these AWS powered solutions are driving effective results and helping communities.

The document discusses how Utah County, Utah updated its GIS data model using the ArcGIS for Local Government Information Model. Patrick Wawro, the GIS manager, decided to abandon his individual efforts to update the data model and instead model the data on the information model, which is built on best practices from governments around the US. This standardized and modernized the county's work. Using the information model also makes it easier for cities to take advantage of ArcGIS for Local Government templates and allows the county to easily adopt new technologies. The county is now taking advantage of templates for applications like an election polling places app and developing other apps based on templates.

An anonymous trucking company sought a mobile safety reporting solution due to lack of reliable reporting, lost/illegible paper documents, and time spent compiling data manually. Canvas helped implement mobile audit forms for crews to submit from the field in real-time. This improved the completion of daily audits by 100% and saved 90 hours of productivity. Accuracy of data improved by pre-populating forms, saving $36,000 annually by eliminating paper. Real-time reporting and integration with their QuickBase system allowed for more proactive safety management instead of reactive responses after accidents.

MARGATE, FL
AWARDED STATE RFP 2011-009
16. Margate, FL
•
• The City of Margate, specifically the Public Works
Department, has recently purchased the Atlas 360 Asset
Management System from Logic Concepts Inc. We have
incorporated the system into our Storm water Division
management and are utilizing it for tracking and reporting
purposes. We chose the Nautiz X7 handheld device for use
in the field because of its superior immersion rating and
rugged qualities. Under the guidance of Logic Concepts’
extremely knowledgeable experts, the Atlas 360 System
interfaced quite easily with our existing GIS system and will
generate reports in a variety of commonly used programs.
• Continued….
17. Margate, FL
• We are in the early stages of incorporating the system in our daily routines of
street sweeping, storm drain maintenance, canal cleaning and vegetative growth
control, and right -of -way weed spraying applications. Personnel have found the
handhelds and the software easy to manipulate and user-friendly in their
interaction with them. Although we still have ‘tweaking’ to do to optimize the
system for our purposes, we can see how invaluable the ability to track
maintenance and generate reports easily, will be as we go forward. For example, if
a resident or a Commissioner calls us to inquire as to whether street sweeping has
been done on a certain street, we can instantly call up the area map and see the
last time that area was swept. No paperwork to fish through, no questions, it is
right there for you to view. With NPDES requirements and reporting on the
increase, it is only a matter of a few clicks and reports are generated and ready to
be forwarded to the proper authorities.
•
• We whole-heartedly recommend this system to all professionals in the Public
Works field as a means of modernizing, streamlining and improving efficiency of
your departments.
•
• Sam May, Director Public Works, Margate, FL
18. Municipalities are at the forefront when it comes to using Atlas360™ with GPS
technology. Atlas360™ allows collection and management of assets such as storm
water, rollout carts, signs inventory, traffic lights, road assessment and hydrant
inspections. Atlas360™ allows your workers to manage and maintain your fixed,
complex assets on a daily basis.
20. Kings Mountain, NC
“We‟ve been keeping records for six weeks now,” Barnette notes. “The
system is really user-friendly, and the workers love it. Already we
can tell how much participation there is in each zone. We’ll target
the zones with lower participation levels, providing those folks with
more education on the benefits of the program. Having the RFID
data helps us allocate our resources where they’re most needed.”
“The software offers many more options,” Barnette adds. “We can
track low-hanging branches, roadside garbage… and now our local
gas utility will incorporate Atlas360 for their department.”

21. Atlas360 and RFID provides a winning solution for The City of Kings Mountain.
25. Clover, SC
“Atlas360 provided by Logic Concepts provided
application for each department in our town. From
solid waste, code enforcement to storm water. The
bonus was having the ability to utilize the disaster
assessment application to completely document storm
damage within 24 hours after a violent stormed passed
through our town this past May ”

28. Kennesaw, GA – FEMA Assessment
The Logic Concepts, Public Works solution has enabled us to become more
efficient as an organization and helped us combat rising operation costs. The
Public Works solution was invaluable during the flood of September 2009. Our
team was able to accurately and quickly document the damage which resulted
in a faster reimbursement from FEMA. Since then we have expanded the
operation of the solution to other departments and it is playing a critical role in
identifying delinquent utility accounts for drivers, storm water issues, traffic sign
inventories. Plus various city officials use the handheld devices on their “ride
around” to document their findings. It is a pleasure working with the Logic
Concepts staff. They are open to suggestions for future innovations and are
always available to assist when we have questions.

33. Gainesville, GA Code Enforcement
Atlas360 allowed Gainesville to move from pen
