Assure Method Assignment
Analyze Learners: The students are in a first grade special ed classroom, around the age of six or
seven. The class is made up of 17 students, ten boys and seven girls. Seven of the 17 students
have mild to severe ADHD. The race of the students is diverse. 70 percent of the students are
White, 20 percent are African American and 10 percent is Latino.
State Objective: The students will understand, list and demonstrate their knowledge of the
months of the year by continuous repetition of the months daily, interactive games with peers
where they will have to connect pictures associated with each month, popcorn the months with
peers and doing word building games. By the end of the year the students will know the months
of the year with 90 percent accuracy.
State Methods, Media and Material: The students will be given multiple task when learning the
months of the year. The class will go over the months as a group in the morning before we
continue with the day. Interactive games with their peers where will have different matching
games to complete together, they will popcorn the months between their small group and the
large group settings. The word building games will be where they can work in a pair or the
students can work on their own, they will put the words together.
Utilize Media and Material: The students will be provided with multiple activates for learning
the months of the year. Each activity will be helpful to all students while potentially being more
helpful to students depending on how they learn better. Visual, Auditory or Kinesthetic. The
students will go over the months of the year each morning with a class where they will have the
opportunity to list all that they can also as listen to the teacher and classmates say them. They
also will be on the board at this time and have the opportunity to match associated pictures to
each month. The students will be put into small groups according to their level in the class and
will popcorn the months of the year in any order that the group is assigned. The students will be
able to work in pairs or alone in the word building activity. The students will be provided with
pieces of paper that has part if each word, the students will have to put together the words then
put them in order from the beginning to the end of the months of the year.
Require Learner Participation: While the students are doing any of the activates that are assigned
and listed above the teacher will observe the student to see if they are grasping the information.
This is where the teacher will silently assess the students’ knowledge and or have the student try
it out loud in front of the teacher or the class. If the student doesn’t fully grasp the information
then the teacher will work with that student individually until the student understands.
Evaluate and Revise: The teacher will observe each student to see where the students are in
knowing the information before the lesson is started. Throughout the lesson the teacher will do
the same while helping if the student shows signs of being far behind the rest of the class.
