2. BACKGROUND
• This is an epidemiological study in which subjects are selected
according to their
Disease status (with or without disease) and further classified
according to
exposure status to calculate the risk of disease with the exposure.
3. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
• Case control studies will be performed to analyze the association of
genotype,
genotype and haplotype combinations of studied polymorphism
with
susceptibility to oral precancerous lesions and oral squamous cell
carcinoma.
4. PURPOSE and BENEFITS OF STUDY
• Oral cancers is one of the leading cause of cancer deaths in india were oral habits
are poor and alcohol abuse ,tobacco, betel nut chewing are prevalent.
• Invasive oral squamous cell carcinoma is often preceeded by presence of
clinically identifiable dysplasia of oral mucosa.
• This precancerous lesion is morphologically altered tissue in which cancer is most
likely to occur than in its apparently normal counterpart.
• it is a generalized state associated with a significantly increased risk of cancer,
• Thus if left untreated, theses conditions may lead to cancer.
