1) The study examined whether medical students deemed acceptable for admission through a process using a 12-station multiple mini-interview (MMI) performed better on Canada's national licensing examinations than students who were rejected.
2) The study found that students who were accepted by the MMI admissions process at McMaster University scored higher on both parts of the national licensing examinations compared to students who were rejected but gained admission elsewhere.
3) Among students who were accepted, there was no significant difference in licensing examination scores between those who matriculated at McMaster and those who matriculated at other medical schools.

The perceived impact of the covid 19 pandemic on medical student education an...Ahmad Ozair
Background The Covid-19 pandemic led to significant changes and disruptions to medical education worldwide. We evaluated medical student perceived views on training, their experiences and changes to teaching methods during the pandemic. Methods An online survey of medical students was conducted in the Autumn of 2020. An international network of collaborators facilitated participant recruitment. Students were surveyed on their perceived overall impact of Covid-19 on their training and several exposure variables. Univariate analyses and adjusted multivariable analysis were performed to determine strengths in associations. Results A total of 1604 eligible participants from 45 countries took part in this survey and 56.3% ( n = 860) of these were female. The median age was 21 (Inter Quartile Range:21–23). Nearly half (49.6%, n = 796) of medical students were in their clinical years. The majority ( n = 1356, 84.5%) were residents of a low or middle income country. A total of 1305 (81.4%) participants reported that the Covid-19 pandemic had an overall negative impact on their training. On adjusted analysis, being 21 or younger, females, those reporting a decline in conventional lectures and ward based teaching were more likely to report an overall negative impact on their training ( p ≤ 0.001). However, an increase in clinical responsibilities was associated with lower odds of participants reporting a negative impact on training ( p < 0.001). The participant’s resident nation economy and stage of training were associated with some of the participant training experiences surveyed ( p < 0.05). Conclusion An international cohort of medical students reported an overall significant negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on their undergraduate training. The efficacy of novel virtual methods of teaching to supplement traditional teaching methods warrants further research.
Higher educational system has gone through substantial reforms and changes
vis-à-vis curriculum innovation over the past years. The evaluation of a revised program is one of the most relevant courses of action done when curriculum change is
to be implemented. One of the main reasons is that it is a chance for practitioners
to test for themselves if their plan is working. It also serves as an identification of
the strengths and weaknesses of the said intervention. This study was conducted to
assess the results of the implementation of the Bachelor of Science in Medical Labo
-ratory Science program. It employed descriptive survey using two types of self-made
questionnaire, the Likert scale and open-ended type survey. Likewise, data on the
results of the graduates’ licensure examinations and status of employment were also
analyzed and correlated. Eighty two graduates from 2010 to 2012 of the enhanced
Medical Technology program of LPU-Batangas and 13 chief medical technologists

tainment of the objectives, the realization of the core competencies as well as the
supposed strengths and weaknesses of the program. Results showed that objectives
were achieved alongside the significant improvements in the board performance and
employment rate were noted. This study can be used as a pilot study for other higher
education institutions with the same health program. This can also be used as a basis
for a curricular reform by assessing the different parameters that were identified.
The study had two main research questions. The first research question in this study was “How are health care funding and expenditure decisions made in secondary and tertiary care hospitals in Oman?” The second research question in this study was “What influences decision-making in secondary and tertiary care hospitals in Oman?”

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
