This document outlines an assignment for an ICT Applied to English Teaching unit. Students are asked to design a 3-lesson internet-based project on a topic and level of their choice. They must create a Webquest using recommended resources and include a list of websites in APA style. Students will exchange projects with partners for peer review, make edits, and upload their final project along with a self-assessment.

1. Task Description
Develop an electronic work portfolio for yourself, which demonstrates your skills in as many relevant areas (of your
degree) as possible. The portfolio should contain:
Homepage that introduces you to possible employers.
Resume – listing personal details, education, experience (work), qualifications, hobbies, other relevant
information (these could be shown on separate pages if desired)
Examples of your work/skills in four (4) different areas. Some examples:
o Design examples
o Graphics production and preparation
o Written and spoken communication skills
o The ability to work as part of a team and independently
o Project management
o Skills required by employers in your field of study.
Each skill area should include examples of your work which may be in the form of text, graphics, links to working
projects or screen shots of projects.
Deliverables:
Functioning web site (digital). Uploaded to your website on infotech (our Linux server).
o IBS / HKIT students check with your local tutor about this requirement (as it may not be
required).
The University marker must have access to the source code, so you will also be required to provide a zip
file containing the entire website (and design documentation as a single word document). For all
internal/external and SCBIT students this will be via MySCU (see the Submit Assignments folder ) site.
2. Length
There should be at least six (6) pages in the website. There should be ‐ at minimum ‐ a Home page
(index.html), a Resume page, and at least 4 pages with examples of your skills. One of these skills
pages must detail your Web Development skills page.
In addition to the six (6) pages already mentioned, topics 9, 10, 11 and 12 contain continuous assessments
that will add an additional two pages to your site. These additional pages should be linked to the Web
Development skills page only – as they are related to these skills. For your convenience I have included all of
the continuous assessments as an appendix of this document.
Remember that prospective employers have to read your portfolio, so keep it informative and intuitive. Typically
students lose marks as a result of a content poor site (including lack of information, bad spelling and grammar) –
don’t make this mistake!

Create a Security Lab Tutorial
Look back to the course labs you’ve performed so far, lecture topics covered, and any other security topics in which you have interest. Which area would you like to further explore?
Your final project is to expand your hands-on learning and understanding of security by creating your own lab. Students choose their security topics and what software to use. This is an opportunity to further explore an area of security you find interesting.
Students may work in teams or individually, as preferred. Up to three students (max) may form a team to complete this final course project. Each student must demonstrate that he or she actively contributed to the project. Model your lab tutorial in a format similar to course labs (e.g., description of what the exercise does; numbered steps; URLs to sources used during an exercise posted as footnotes on the relevant page; screen shots that illustrate important input and output and that provide evidence the shots were taken by you; page numbers; etc.)

* During class on Nov 16th, we will discuss each student team’s proposal. This is an opportunity for students to get feedback and further flush out their project ideas. Importantly, it is also the time when I’ll review the software and projects being proposed across the class to ensure a variety of projects. Some students may be asked to change their topic because too many students are proposing similar projects. In cases where several student teams propose projects that are too similar, the student/team posting the proposal first gets priority. Note: ensure there is only 1 Discussion forum post per team.
** Final project submissions are per team. If multiple submissions occur from a team, the last submission will be graded. A 3pm deadline is given so that I can organize the order of presentations, and helps me get familiar with your projects prior to your presentation, which is helpful.

The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

book (your unit plan should include screenshots of the pages to be used).

builder and use the guidelines given on page 58 to create it online (make sure your
