Analyze Learners
  • General Characteristics: The instructional unit is suited for 8th grade students for Career Education class,
      an elective they are assigned to be enrolled in. It is a class of 24 students. There is one student with
      emotional disturbance, while others are with no disabilities. The class is culturally diverse with
      Micronesian, Chamorro, Filipino, and one student who are Asian. The students come from families of
      various socioeconomic statuses, in which most are from lower or middle class families.

   •   Entry Competencies: Students are all beginner entry level for this class, as business is not taught in
       previous years to them.

   •   Learning Styles: Students prefer to work in pairs or in a group as they learn better in this setting.
       Students do well in test when review is provided before the test, if no review they don’t do so well. With
       the student that is disabled, he/she is to work with a group they prefer in, and teacher must always
       choose at least once per day to ask disabled student to participate in answering questions so that he/she
       feels they are doing well.

State Objectives
   • Students are to create a digital spreadsheet of a company directory. It is to include department name,
       name of position, name of individual, and email of the individual.
   • Students must use Microsoft Word or Excel to create and print documents.

Select instructional methods, media, and material
    • Methods
           o Teacher will provide examples each day of a company directory and sample that position from a
               company that has that position of an employee
           o Students will work on their own, but also be in pairs or groups of three to help each other as they
               will focus representing the same company
    • Media
           o Microsoft Word
           o Microsoft Excel
           o Youtube.com to showcase videos of companies from teacher
    • Material
           o Information from resources teacher obtains
           o Computer lab, reserved for the day by teacher
           o Projector
           o Provide listing of recommended websites students may browse aside from search engines

    • Teacher will use personal laptop and projector to review previous lesson and current lesson and also
        examples
    • Teacher will display a pre-made table of a sample of a company to reference their assignment to
