This study is planned to specify the ways of perception of the young who are exposed to emotional abuse by their mothers along with the factors that can affect the perception. 308 (306=F, 2=M) volunteer students of Child Development Program from Erciyes University Hüseyin Şahin Vocational High School, İzzet Bayraktar Vocational High School, Kırıkkale University Keskin Vocational High School and Dicle University Silvan Vocational High School are included to the study. In order to identify the case of young people subjected to emotional abuse by their mothers, “Mother-Youngster Relationship Scale” composed of 36 articles by Alantar (1989)- improved by Bayraktar (1990), Vardar (1994) is used in the study. As a result of the study, it is found out that the relation between the schools of the young and their confinement to a room/closet by their mothers is seen as substantive, the relation between educational background of the mother and the case of the young being seen as servants is found liminal substantive (p≤.05). The relation between educational background of mothers and the young’s bruised by them is reached out substantive (p<.05).
Attachment Security and Perceived Parental Psychological Control as Parameter...ijtsrd
The study examined attachment security and perceived parental psychological control as parameters of social value orientation among early adolescents. Participants for the study were 210 early adolescents who volunteered from NnamdiAzikiwe University High Awka. Participants’ age ranged from 11 to 15 years, with mean age of 13.26 years and standard deviation of 1.34. Three instruments were deployed for data collection secure domain of the attachment style questionnaire SDASQ by Van Oudenhoven, Hofstra, and Bakker 2003 , adopted version of psychological control domain of the parental control scale developed by Barber 1996 and social value orientation SVO developed by Schwartz 1994 . The study adopted correlation design and statistics appropriate for data analysis were correlation and multiple regression analysis enter method. Hypothesis one was confirmed and result showed that attachment security significantly and positively predicted social value orientation at B = .73 , P . 001. Hypothesis two result was not confirmed at B = .06, p .05. Hence, attachment security is a significant predictor of social value orientation. It was recommended that parents, teachers and care givers should ensure that they establish low anxiety type of relationship with their new born children in order to enhance low anxiety and low avoidance as this will help them at early adolescents to withstand peer pressure of during early adolescent. Social anxiety is the most common anxiety disorder and it affects individuals’ life very
profoundly. Recent findings have suggested that both parental attitudes and hopelessness are potential
vulnerability and maintenance factors for the development of social anxiety symptoms. Therefore, the aims of
the current study were to examine whether social anxiety, perceived parental attitudes and hopelessness differ
in male and female adolescents in order to identify predictors of social anxiety in Turkish adolescents. Hence,
the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale, the short form of EgnaMinnenBeträffandeUppfostran Scale (short-EMBU),
and Hopelessness Scale were administered to 756 adolescents. Consistent with other findings, we could show
that females experienced more social anxiety, perceived more emotional warmth and more overprotection from
mother and mother than males. The results of a regression analysis for the whole sample revealed that being
female, greater the number of sibling, older grades, low mother education, perceived rejection from mother and
hopelessness are significant predictors of social anxiety. Finally, social anxiety was predicted by different
variables for females, (class level, mother education, mother rejection, hopelessness) and males (number of
sibling, hopelessness). Therefore, clinicians should consider these differences in their interventions.

Abstract: This study investigated parental care and academic stress as predictors of adolescent substance abuse in Rivers State Nigeria .Using random sampling technique, 250 participants were selected from 4 secondary schools in the state. The participants comprised of 130 males and 120 females with age range of 12-18 years with a mean age of 14.8 years. Participants were administered with 3 instruments which include Parental Care Scale developed by Baumrind (1971), Student Academic Stress Scale developed by Busari (2011) and Drug Abuse Screening Test (DAST) developed by Skinner (1982). A cross sectional survey was employed and A Multiple Regression analysis was used for data analyses. Result indicates that parenting style and academic stress do not predict adolescent substance abuse in Rivers State Nigeria. The significance of the study borders on the need for parents to watch out for other significant environmental factors like peer pressure as the inducing factors to substance abuse as they do their best to train their children

Attitudes towards spanking vary widely. Prior research indicates there are consistent ethnic, gender, and religious differences in attitudes towards spanking. African Americans, Asians, men, and religious people tend to have more positive attitudes towards spanking than Caucasians, women, and nonreligious people. We wanted to see if undergraduate students in an area with favorable attitudes towards spanking differed in their attitudes towards spanking by three key demographics: ethnicity, gender, religion, or their interaction (and if they indeed had favorable attitudes towards spanking). To accomplish this task, we developed a brief, 6-item Spanking Scale for use in future research and surveyed an online incidental sample of 115 college students from a small west Texas university. Reliability, validity, and factor analyses conducted in SPSS support the internal consistency reliability, factor structure, and validity (face, concurrent criterion-related, content, and construct) of the Spanking Scale. A three-way (3 x 2 x 2) factorial ANOVA found no significant ethnic or gender differences in spanking attitudes and no significant interaction effects but marginally significant religious differences, with Christians having more favorable attitudes towards spanking, and people in the current sample had slightly positive attitudes towards spanking. Through answering only four questions about spanking (plus an optional demographic question about spanking frequently and an optional qualitative question about spanking attitudes), people’s attitudes towards spanking can be quickly assessed in less than five minutes using a brief measure of spanking that is reliable, valid, and useful. We discuss implications for policy on spanking and corporal punishment.

Aggressive Behavior in secondary schoolsTadele Fayso
Abstract The objective of this study was to explore types, magnitude, and predictors of aggression as well as methods that teachers use to control aggressions in secondary schools of Meskan woreda of the Gurage zone. Concurrent nested design was used for the study. A total of 352 secondary school students, 18 secondary school teachers and 2 principals participated in the study. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select student participants whereas purposive sampling technique was used to select teachers and principals. Questionnaire that contained items on socio-demographic variables, scales for aggression and parenting styles were used by the researcher to collect information from the students. Qualitative data were collected from teachers and principals through FGD. Descriptive statistics, one sample t- test, and step wise linear regression analysis were conducted to analyze the data. The findings disclosed that the three forms of aggression namely indirect, verbal and physical were prevalent among adolescents in secondary school of Meskan woreda. Regarding the magnitude of aggression, the findings indicate that adolescent in secondary school of Meskan woreda scored relatively high on the measure of indirect aggression. However, as the data show the students reported low level of indirect, verbal and physical aggression as compared to the hypothesized population mean (i.e. 2.0) in each form of aggression. The linear regression analysis reveals that school setting, age, grade level and scores on the measure of perceived parental warmth/love found to be significant predicators of aggression. Together, the four independent variables have explained 12.8% of the variance in aggression. This indicates that only a small but significant part of the variance in aggression was explained by the predictor variables. Regarding the methods teachers used to control aggression advising the wrong doer, handing over the wrong doer to discipline committee, consulting with parents, expelling from class and suspending/dismissing from the school were the most common methods reported by the teachers. Recommendations were also forwarded in the light of the findings. Keywords: Aggressive behavior; Parenting style; Secondary Schools
Maintaining a positive relationship among family members creates a harmonious learning environment. When children are nurtured in such surroundings, they are likely to increase their emotional, social, and academic accomplishments and learn more effectively. The purpose of this paper was to analyze the familial role in emotional, social and academic adaptation of middle school students. The sample consisted of 9,728 middle school students from different parts of a Middle East country. The size of the sample was determined using multistage random sampling. Data were obtained using an emotional, social and academic survey and a family structure questionnaire. The study showed that most students have average or better behavior adaptation. Moreover, healthy family structures, favorable economic situation, and high-end paternal professions facilitate behavior adaptation. On the other hand, maternal employment has no effect upon behavior adaptation.

The susceptibility to diseases is not considered as a key-criterion in peach breeding programs. Even if the turn-over of peach cultivars is important, suitability for organic and low-input systems remains unknown for most of the cultivars. A first program has been carried out from 2014 to 2016 to assess powdery mildew of 4 cultivars in an experimental station. Powdery mildew (Sphaerotheca pannosa) is a widely distributed pathogen in different parts of the world and one of the most important peach pathogens. Powdery mildew management was conducted during 2015 in experimental scheme with four (4) peach and nectarine cultivars in village Marikaj, Vorë, Albania. Experimental scheme is a randomized complete block with three repeat. nalysis of variance (ANOVA) on the assessment of the Index disease (Imc in%) for the four cultivars in the study for 2016 shows that the four cultivars Red Star, Venus, Roajal Black and Gomea have differences statistically to two levels of authentication P = 0.05 and 0.01. The data see the disease index Imc in% Union ranges from 16.331% Roajal Black cultivar and up to 30.77% Red Star cultivar. In terms of classification regarding the level of sustainability of these cultivars are MR (resistant) to the Powdery mildew (Sphaerotheca pannosa).
Gender Differences in Military Thinking among Active Duty Personnelinventionjournals
The Armed Forces until recently were a male dominated environment, thus women’s military role has brought attention to their physical and mental fitness when performing various military duties. The aim of the present study was the evaluation of gender differences in military thinking during active duty. For this purpose a questionnaire was distributed to 300 military personnel, 100 to each specialty. The questionnaire was structured according to published guidance and graded according to Likert scale. One hundred twenty individuals returned the questionnaire. The questions showing significant statistical differences in the answers of male and female personnel were those concerning beliefs and expectations of their military occupation. Findings showed that the behavior of male personnel compared to female is significantly influenced by their working environment affecting differently the psychology of male and female personnel
The Impact of Inventory Management on Manufacuring Industryinventionjournals
Inventory is generally considered to comprise in three main areas which are raw materials, work in progress and finished goods. Where these are held and in what quantities, and how they are managed will vary significantly from one organization to another. The activities of inventory management involves are identifying inventory requirements, setting targets, providing replenishment techniques and options, monitoring item usages, reconciling the inventory balances, and reporting inventory status. In order to have clear inventory management, a company should not only focus on logistic management but also on sales and purchase management. Inventory management and control is not only the responsibility of the accounting department and the warehouse, but also the responsibility of the entire organization. Actually, there are many departments involved in the inventory management and control process, such as sales, purchasing, production, logistics and accounting. All these departments must work together in order to achieve effective inventory controls. Inventory includes raw material in progress, finished products, general Suppliers and equipment etc. inventory control may defined as systematic location, storage and Recording of goods in such a way that desired degree of service can be made to the operating shops at minimum ultimate cost. The need for inventory control is to maintain stock of goods and ensure Manufacturing according to the production schedule based on sale requirement and the lowest possible ultimate cost to the customer. Every enterprise needs inventory for smooth running of activities, it serves as link between production and distribution process and there is general time lag between the recognition of a need and its fulfillment. The greater time lag, the higher the requirement for inventory. The unforeseen fluctuation in demand and supply of goods also necessitate the need for inventory as it provides cushion for future price fluctuation. This paper includes the concept of inventory management, nature of inventory management, materials management techniques and inventory accounting

Behavioral Screening with a Translated Measure: Reliability and Validity Evid...inventionjournals
The present study evaluated whether the Preschool Behavior Screening System (PBSS) translated into Spanish was able to reliably provide information regarding the behaviors and emotions of preschool children. The PBSS Parent Spanish Form (PBSS-PSF) could fill a void as the first multi-stage emotional and behavioral screening system in Spanish. The PBSS-PSF was field tested on 49 Spanish-speaking parents of preschool age children. Reliability coefficients for PBSS-PSF Phase 2 were in the moderate to excellent ranges. Results indicated that PBSS-PSF Phase 1did not yield the expected and predicted correlations with PBSS-PSF Phase 2. Correlations were acceptable between PBSS-PSF Phase 2 and the Behavioral and Emotional Screening System, Spanish Parent form. Collectively, the results are promising for the PBSS-PSF and provide guidance for future refinement of the tool.

Relación Entre El Desarrollo Neuropsicológico Y La Creatividad En Edades Temp...inventionjournals
Neuropsychological maturity is a crucial factor for the school population because it can be an indicator of a high or low school performance. Moreover, creativity is a factor that will not only allow the development of original ideas but also will provide a more divergent thinking. Therefore, this study tries to establish whether there is a direct relationship between neuropsychological maturity and level of creativity. The study is home to a population of 30 subjects without learning disabilities enrolled in primary education with an age between 7 and 11 years. To carry out the study, it has been used Maturity Questionnaire Neuropsychological testing CUMANES and then CREA. Once passed all tests, we used the statistical Pearson, which concludes that exists between creativity and neuropsychological maturity is a direct positive correlation.
Evasive/Deceptive Use of Euphemistic Language in Discourse: Barak Obama’s Spe...inventionjournals
Obama mourns Japanese and other causalities in Hiroshima and calls for „a world free of nuclear weapons‟ as he became the first sitting U.S chief of staff to visit the site of dropping the first nuclear weapon in history. His speech neither mentioned anything about the 1945 atomic bombing nor showed an intention to apologize for the committed treacherous and odious military act. The completely extravagant speech appeared to be carefully crafted to draw the attention to reconciliation rather than expressing guilt and asking for forgiveness. His speech stunned so many people who saw that his presence only should have been enough to appease the Japanese. All Japanese people who witnessed the catastrophe (dead or surviving victims) are in need for Obama‟s apology to find comfort and are willing to forget and forgive. Quite the contrary, an impish rhetoric impinged upon them, and Obama appeared to be an extrovert who is seeking support for the upcoming election as well as for his plan of nuclear weapon proliferation as U.S. national interest bristles with tens of thousands of nuclear heads used as threat to the entire world. Furthermore, Euphemism is used in his speech to add insult to injury and to emphasize the “no regret” situation. Some went further to declare that the speech symbolizes the second nuclear bomb dropping which will take the Japanese people too long to heal. Obama‟s predicament is that his blurred speech seems to have lost much of its initial impetus when he should have felt impelled to bluntly apologize to the Japanese people.
Product placement in movies and its consumer perceptioninventionjournals
Product placement is exponentially more and more present in our everyday lives, as we are exposed to it in all mainstream media, even though as a lot of times we are not even aware of the fact. One of its most prevalent occurrence is in movies, where taking a closer look on the highest grossing 35 Hollywood movies, the average number of product placement sightings was 13,9 in 2014. Its effectiveness is unquestionable, especially when put against the traditional means available for marketers. This paper aims to explore the main characteristics of product placement as well as to study its various branches of how they appear, how their reach is measurable and how the general public sees them and how these views might have changed over time (the goal is to expose the main theoretical correlations and various study results from the past years, while the primary research is not part of the paper). All the while the paper also seeks to find out where this relatively new type of advertising is heading, especially regarding the changes in digitalization, the new trends in marketing and the changes to consumers' perception of advertising
Comparative Study on Day Lighting & Energy Modeling For Conventional and Gree...inventionjournals
A green building is a building which consumes less energy, less water and it includes proper waste management system in such a way that it utilizes maximum natural resources without .affecting the future needs. The energy consumption in a conventional building varies based on the person’s metabolic condition, the circulation of fresh air and the intensity of light entering to the building. The absence of fresh air circulation and lack of natural light will lead to intense power consumption in the building. The methodology used here is basically on the working of the three software viz., velux, design builder, and equest. The velux software is used to understand the building day light factor, how the ventilations are provided and to what extent the building is consuming the natural light through these ventilations. A simulation shall be drawn to check colors the lux values inside the building and it shall be done on the basis d considering different colors and designing the building as per latitude and longitude of the building so the results are based on the weather and climatic conditions of the building topography, thermal comfort in the building, metabolic conditions and materials used . Equest software is the software used for the final analysis of the modeled energy building to determine the consumption of the energy and also the annual savings based on the model prepared in the software. The main area is on how to reduce the energy consumption in the building using the natural day light. A study on the modeled building by its appropriate orientation and a cost wise comparison between green and a conventional building are done here. The study is conducted in one of the site located at Mangalore island site for conventional building.
Effect of Different Exercise Types Upon Blood Zinc and Copper Levelsinventionjournals
This study focused on investigating the effects of different types of exercise models (power endurance, maximal strength, and interval running) on the copper and zinc levels in blood. All male twenty four basketball players voluntarily accepted to be the subjects of this study. Subjects were put in three different groups according to their maximal strength (MS) (n=8), intermittent running power endurance (PE) (n=8) and interval run (n=8). Serum copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) levels were calculated in accordance with atomic emission technique in blood samples gathered from the groups before and after training program. The difference in blood zinc levels pre and post exercise were found to be statistically significant (p<0.05)>< 0.05). In the end power endurance group was better among the others at saving the zinc status of the body

Business strategy is dependent on the management team possessing high quality information, most often of a quantitative nature. Particularly in a business environment that is increasingly globalized and influenced by both technology and social media, the ability of management to react with flexibility is key to organizational success. Accounting professionals, specifically management accountants already embedded within various functional areas, possess the necessary competencies to meet the data demands of a stakeholder environment. Building strategy begins with an understanding of broader business trends, and the ability to translate broader trends into quantitative data. Adopting a strategic headset and more strategically oriented business outlook is a concept that continues to proliferate the academic and business press. Accounting professionals have an opportunity to leverage existing competencies, technological advances, and the need for quantitative data in a fast changing environment. What remains to be done is an analysis of these trends, and an understanding of how accounting professionals can translate potential into business decision making.
An Analysis of Impact of Human Capital Investment on Demographic Characterist...inventionjournals
The demographic features of the 2011census of India have revealed that India is the second largest country next to China in terms of working age population (25 - 50 years) in the world. It has been known that the country’s economic growth is based on both natural and human resources available in the country. Still, there are more avenues for effective and efficient use of labour-productivity in this age group. It is well conceived by the theory that the human resources are the biggest contributor of economic growth which is augmented by a process of human capital formation. Of late, health and education have been viewed as the two dimensions of human capital which are treated as an indicator of social welfare. The variations in health status of different age groups in market and non-market labour productivities are still prevalent in many developing countries. The low health status persons contribute less to human capital formation than of others (Behrman and Deolalikar, 1988). According to them, “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. Therefore, it cannot be purchased by the consumers in the market as we do for other goods and services in the market. On the other hand, it can be produced by spending time upon health improving activities, as well as, purchasing medical inputs (Grossman M., 1972). Behrman has pointed out that there is an inverse relationship between low health status and human capital formation. Therefore, the economists have focused their attention to study the determinants and impact of health status on economic growth. The present study attempts to analyse the human capital investment and its impact of socio- economic status on human resources (HR) in Chennai district, Tamil Nadu. To aid our research effort, an extensive literature has also been reviewed in an attempt to answer various queries raised. On the basis of the statement of problems, the research questionnaires have been canvassed among the respondents to obtain the information. This study is based on databases obtained both from primary and secondary sources. The information through primary sources has been collected with the help of interview schedule. The secondary data on Human Capital Investment and the Impact of Socio- Economic Status on Human Resources have been collected from various sources in Chennai City. In the health sector, this study focuses its attention to reporting illness, amount spent, days lost. Some of the opted econometric techniques have been used to examine the objectives of the study. Our empirical strategy has applied the following tools of analysis. The statistical tools like OLS, PROBIT and LOGIT techniques are used to analyze the indicator ‘selfreported illnesses. And, ‘Health expenditure’ and ‘number of days lost’ are estimated by OLS and TOBIT techniques, besides by applying correlation, regression analysis.

Abstract Children exposed to the trauma of domestic vio-
lence tend to experience difficulties with internalized and
externalized behavior problems, social skills deficits, and
academic functioning. Mental health practitioners in the
school setting, including school counselors, school psycholo-
gists, and school social workers, can address developmental
concerns that impede development through group counseling
interventions that include both structured activities and play
therapy. The school environment offers an ideal setting in
which to work with child survivors of trauma, as all students
have accessibility to school mental health resources. This
article outlines the primary objectives and corresponding pro-
cedures for a developmentally- appropriate group interven-
tions for elementary-aged children who have been exposed to
the trauma of domestic violence.

Nearly four million children in the United States struggle
with a diagnosable mental disorder that significantly hinders
various areas of functioning which impacts their ability to be
successful at school (U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services 1999). Less than 20% of those children will get the
mental health services they need (U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services 2000). Many of the urgent mental
health needs of children are first recognized and addressed
in the school setting (Farmer et al. 2003; Salmon and Kirby
2008). Recent research indicates the importance of provid-
ing mental health services for children within their schools
in order to help them succeed academically and socially
(Baker et al. 2006; Farmer et al. 2003).
School mental health professionals often provide preven-
tive and responsive interventions to student needs (American
School Counselor Association [ASCA] 2005; National
Association of School Psychologists 2010). In fact, the
ASCA (2005) recommends that school counselors spend at
least 80% of their time in direct contact with students. Based
on this, schools counselors often are faced with the wide-
reaching problem of domestic violence which affects ap-
proximately 15 million children each year (McDonald et al.
2006). Children who reside in homes marked by domestic
violence are exposed to various forms of aggression which
may include repeated physical assaults, mental humiliation
and degradation, threats and assaults with guns and knives,
threats of suicide and homicide, and destruction of property
(McClosky et al. 1995). Investigation of the negative effects
of children’s exposure to domestic violence reveals a link
between witnessing violence in the home and a wide array of
adjustment problems. Child-witnesses of domestic violence
often experience chaotic, distressing events, of which .

aggressive behavior amongst school children. There are literatures related to peer attachment quality and its
effects on adjustment and development. However, relatively little attention has been paid to the relationship
between peer attachments and intention of aggressive behavior. Positive peer attachment, respectively, have
been viewed as protective factors, that prevent peers from engaging in intention of aggressive behaviors, like
violence, risky sexual behavior, and bullying.. While the negative aspect of peer insecure attachment from the
school which is associated with more problematic functioning including higher rates of emotional problems,
substance use, aggression and delinquency. In this study, respondentswere 426 school children (males 199 and
females 227) between 13-17 years old. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation
and t-test for student’sage groups.Peer attachment was measured using inventory of parents and peer
attachment (IPPA) with respect to peer attachment and adolescent intention of aggressive behaviour. Findings
have revealed that over all respondents show that there is a significant positive relationship between peer
influences on intention of aggressive behaviour. And there is no significant difference in age group of the
respondents and intention of aggressive behaviour. Peer influence on intention of aggressive behaviour is high
which is peer to peer aggressive act within the school environment which the harm that is always intention to

intention of aggressive behaviour cases, but also to intimidators. Recommendation of the study centers on the
need to examine the reports from school counselors and peers that engage in intention of aggressive behaviour.

Objective: Each year, more than 6% of all U.S. children are exposed to domestic violence and require inter-
vention services from agencies that serve affected families. Previous research has examined detrimental biop-
sychosocial consequences of domestic violence exposure during childhood and the importance of effective
prevention and intervention services for this population. However, less research has explored diverse inter-
vention professionals’ own perspectives on the needs of the domestic violence-exposed children they serve.
Method: This study employed an inductive approach to thematic analysis to investigate intervention profes-
sionals’ reflections and advice regarding the service, policy, and research needs as well as overall strategies to
better protect children exposed to domestic violence.
Results: Respondents articulated four primary themes of (a) building general education and awareness of the
effects of domestic violence exposure on children; (b) the need for trauma-informed care; (c) the salience of
cultural humility in serving affected families; and (d) essential collaboration across service domains.
Respondents discussed these themes in the context of four key systems of care: the clinical or therapy, family,
school, and judicial systems.
Conclusions: Future research should integrate the voices of affected children and families as well as examine
models for effectively implementing these recommendations into practice settings.
1. Introduction
More than a quarter of children are projected to witness domestic
violence (also known as intimate partner violence) in the United States
by the time they reach age 18, with an estimated 6.4% of all children
exposed each year (Finkelhor, Turner, Ormrod, Hamby, & Kracke,
2009). Domestic violence exposure induces substantial economic
burden nationwide, incurring over $55 billion in aggregate lifetime
costs, including increased healthcare spending, increased crime, and
reduced labor market productivity (Holmes, Richter, Votruba, Berg, &

are at higher risk for a range of behavioral and mental health problems

This study was designed to investigate “The Impact of Child Abuse on Students’ Psychological Well being” in Ndu Municipality, North west Region of Cameroon. Specifically, the study seeks to investigate the impact of sexual, emotional abuse and child neglect on student’s psychological well being in secondary schools in Ndu Municipality. A mixed methods design was adopted for the study. Questionnaires for students and interview guide for teachers were used for the collection of data and a purposive sampling technique was used to select respondents. A sample of 150 students were selected and administered the questionnaire and 27 teachers were interviewed. Data was analyzed quantitatively with the aid of frequency count and percentages, hypothesis tested using Spearman Rho and Chi square. Qualitatively data was analysed using thematic analysis. Finally, findings were presented using frequency distribution tables and charts and inferential statistic was presented, 95 level of confidence interval with alpha at 0.05 levels accepting only 5 margin of errors. Findings affirmed the fact that there was a significant and positive relationship between sexual abuse and students’ psychological well being P=0.000 0.001, R=0.170 . Similarly, the findings equally revealed that there was a significant and positive relationship between emotional abuse and students’ psychological well being P=0.000 0.001, R=0.353 . Also, findings also showed that, there was a significant and positive relationship between child neglect and students’ psychological well being P=0.000 0.001, R=0.346 . The findings indicated that, child abuse has an impact on students’ psychological well being in Ndu Municipality. Based on the findings, some recommendations were made that government should ensure proper creation, implementation and dissemination of policies to address child abuse both in schools and homes. Also, parents should adopt positive values and show love towards their children in order to boost students’ psychological well being. Child-Centered Play Therapy With Children Affected by Adverse

We conducted single-case research with 2 participants to explore the influence of
child-centered play therapy (CCPT) on children who had 4 or more adverse childhood
experiences (ACEs) and analyzed data collected from the Strength and Difficulties
Questionnaire on a weekly basis and the Trauma Symptoms Checklist for Young
Children at pre- and posttest. Both participants demonstrated significant improvement
in total difficulties and prosocial behaviors, revealing potential therapeutic benefits for
the use of CCPT with children who have 4 or more ACEs. The discussion of study
results includes implications for practice, suggestions for future research, and
limitations.
Keywords: child-centered play therapy, adverse childhood experiences, single-case

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can
be defined as traumatic and stressful experi-
ences occurring in childhood (Felitti et al.,
1998). Categories for ACEs include physical
abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, emo-
tional neglect, physical neglect, mental illness,
substance abuse, separation/divorce, domestic
violence, incarceration, and living in foster care
(Felitti et al., 1998; Wade et al., 2016). The
commonality between all of the categories is a
self-report of feeling maltreated or living in
household dysfunction during childhood. The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC, 2019) noted that over 50% of adults in
the United States have reported experiencing at
least one ACE, and 15% have reported experi-
encing four or more ACEs. Adverse experi-
ences occurring in childhood have been found
to have a profound influence on the health and
well-being of children and adults (Clarkson
Freeman, 2014; Felitti et al., 1998; Wade et al.,
2016). The resulting trauma that, over multiple
events, leads to complex trauma is a common
outcome and response to the experiencing of
adverse experiences (Substance Abuse and
Mental Health Services Administration [SAM-
HSA], 2018). Although various mental health
interventions have been proposed to address the
symptoms resulting from ACEs and childhood
trauma, there is still little evidence to support
positive treatment outcomes for children who
have experienced ACEs. Child-centered play
therapy (CCPT) fosters connections and rela-
tionships in a safe, therapeutic environment,
lending to the potential of CCPT being an ef-
fective intervention with children who have ex-
perienced multiple ACEs.
Broad Spectrum of ACEs Outcomes
Adverse experiences occurring in childhood
have been found to have a profound influence
on the health and well-being of adults (Felitti et
al., 1998; Wade et al., 2016). ACEs have long-
term effects on physical and mental health, ad-
dictive behaviors, criminal activities, and adult

on (Olley, Brieger and Olley, 1997) and for measuring personality, 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire Hindi
adaptation by S.D.Kapoor (1970) was administered to 150 parents of mentally sub-normal children. Subjects
were in the age range of 35 to 55 years and were residents of the city of Meerut. The high and low scorer on
different factors of 16 PF were compared in respect of their stress level in 6 areas namely, hospital factors,
disease factors, financial factors, familial factors, psychological factors. Result indicates that out of 16
personality factors 7 factors A, B, E, F, H, O and Q4 were found to be significant in contributing to stress level

Perception of Child Abuse 2
COLLEGE STUDENTS’ AND PROFESSIONALS’ PERCEPTION OF CHILD ABUSE IN CORRELATION TO STRESS
Introduction
Throughout the growth and development of society, child abuse and maltreatment has expanded into many different aspects; it occurs within socioeconomic levels, ethnic and cultural lines, all religions and all levels of education. Within the United States children are suffering from a hidden epidemic of child abuse and neglect. Every year 3.3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States involving nearly 6 million children (a report can include multiple children). The United States has the worst record in the industrialized nation – losing five children every day due to abuse-related deaths (U.S. Department of HHS, 2011). The estimated cost of child abuse and neglect in the United States for 2008 is $124 billion (Fang, 2012). The Department of Children and Families (DCF) defines child maltreatment as any act or series of acts of commission or omission by a parent, guardian, or other caregiver that results in harm, potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child (Leeb, Paulozzi, Melanson, Simon, & Arias, 2008). There are four major categories of childhood abuse and maltreatment: physical abuse, psychological and emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect (Goldman, Salus, Wolcott, & Kennedy, 2003).
According to Brian H. Bornstein, Debra L. Kaplan, and Andrea R. Perry (2007), people have stereotypes about the circumstances and consequences of child abuse, and these expectancies can influence their judgments about individuals involved in abuse cases. Heim (2000) reported that participants with a history of abuse experience greater levels of perceived stress than participants without a history of abuse. They often perceive daily stressors more severely and longer in duration than their counterparts. It is also suggested that their history of abuse compromises these participants’ abilities to cope with stress, but the researchers noted that the data from their study is inconclusive, making it difficult for them to either support or refute this claim.
The perception of child abuse is very influential to students and upcoming professionals. Society’s definition and perception will guide current social work students into practice, which is a very important factor within the professional realm of social work.
Research Question
The purpose of this study is to examine college students and professionals’ perception of child abuse and how it relates to stress. The independent variable is the college students and professionals’ perception of child abuse and the dependent variable is how it relates to stress. The operational definition of perception remains closely allied to the continually developing behavioral theory of discrimination (Schoenfeld, 1962). The operational definition of child abuse is as any act or series of acts of commission or omission by a parent, guardian, or other caregiver that results.

Introduction
'First generation' research on child day care and aftercare programs mostly looked at the child's impairment in isolation, while’s second generation' research tries to look at the kid's functioning within context (Baker et al., 2019). The family-centered approach emphasizes this setting by recognizing the importance of the home as the first and most influential environment for a child's development of the skills and knowledge valued in their society (Hotz & Wiswall, 2019). An essential tenet of this strengths-based strategy is that family values and customs provide the foundation for effective and long-lasting intervention.
The family-centered criteria have not been met by conventional methods, which have been criticized for not being in line with family objectives and aspirations. Rather of recognizing what families and communities already know and do, a deficit model emphasizes what they do not (Baker et al., 2019). This method results in "professionally prescribed" treatments based mostly on the assumptions of experts without the requisite comprehension of the kid within context. Thus, families are frequently given activities or programs that are not tailored to their specific needs, which might increase their already heavy workload (Hotz & Wiswall, 2019). Families of young children experience events beyond those provided by early intervention programmes that can and do influence child development and family functioning, and this deficit-based approach to intervention has been criticized for not leaving enough time for families to engage in these activities (Baker et al., 2019).
It has been suggested that studying children's activity contexts would help us better comprehend them in that environment (Hotz & Wiswall, 2019). What we call a kid's "activity settings" are the places and situations in which the youngster regularly engages in activities with others and the world around them (Baker et al., 2019). Due to a lack of studies, it is imperative that immediate steps be taken to enhance the indigenous knowledge-base of child day care and afterschool activity settings. Understanding children in their home environments will be aide.
EFFECT OF CHILD ABUSE ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT...ResearchWap
ABSTRACT
This project work focuses on the effects of child abuse on students’ academic performance. The study attempts to unravel the causes, effects and remedies to child abuse among secondary school students. It was carried out in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State. A sample of 100 was randomly drawn from selected secondary schools in the local government and questionnaires were administered to the respondents. The mean percentage test, which was adopted in the study’s analysis, indicated that excessive battering of a child by parents/teacher/guidance; broken homes, child hawking before and after school and an unconducive learning environment are all causes of child abuse. Also, it was found that child abuse negatively affects a child’s school performance; such abused children are vulnerable to early pregnancy. Ill-treatment as well causes permanent and lifelong trauma, thereby making children develop low cognition of school subjects. The preaching of good morals by religious leaders to parents and guardians is part of the recommendations made in this study. Also, melting out punishment in form of fines on erring parents/guidance especially those forcing their children to hawk, and prevention from bad peer influence will help eliminate or reduce to the barest minimum the incidence of child abuse among secondary school students.

Introduction
In the United States, child abuse is one of the aspects that require a compelling attention from the government, the non-governmental organizations, society, and even individuals. Reports exhibit that nearly six million young people are abused annually. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified the aspect to be one of the serious problems that the United States is facing, and for this reason, a compelling remedy is required. It is perceived that there is a probability that a child who undergoes physical and psychological abuse is prone to abuse his or her children when he or she becomes an adult (Starr & Wolfe, 1991). According to the United States Bureau of Health and Human Services, it is essential for parents and guardians to ensure that children are not abused in the society.
Statement of the Problem
The impacts of child abuse from early stages through adulthood have been examined for many years. Child abuse is a very regular practice in the United States with more than six million kids influenced each year (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2014). It is thought to be a serious issue, particularly as the cycle of abuse proceeds since approximately 30% of abusing and disregarded kids will later abuse their own kids (U.S. Bureau of Health and Human Services [HSS], 2013). The effects of abuse on the child using Erikson's hypothesis of psychosocial improvement, the resulting impacts of the abuse on developing grown-ups, and treatment systems, which have turned out to be of help when working with customers who have experienced childhood abuse. It has got several effects on the development and the growth of children later in life (Kelley, Bravo, Braitman, Lawless, & Lawrence, 2016). It is due to this situation that this study will seek to find the impacts of Child Abuse on Growth and Development.
Objective of the study:
To determine the Impacts of Child Abuse on Growth and Development
Research Questions.
1) How do child abuses influence growth and development of a child?
2) To what extent do child abuses affect the growth and development of a child?
3) Do child abuse influence or determine a person’s behavior at adulthood?
4) Is there a likelihood of a child who has been abused to become abusive at adulthood?
5) How do the abused children get along with other children?
Literature review
Erikson depicts one of the main stages prompting adulthood as personality versus part disarray (Lewis, McElroy, Harlaar, & Runyan, 2016). This stage is regularly experienced amid the high school years; in this stage, teenagers encounter an” identity emergency", which is portrayed as an endeavor to characterize who you may be (e.g., vocation, religion, ...

Introduction:
The voice that is hardly heard. Child abuse and neglect have become predators within human history. As time has passed the outstanding cases that have come about over the many years have raised many eyebrows and society has become appreciative to the revilement of these evil acts within all communities. Child abuse and neglect can take place in a home as well as outside a home places many couldn’t even imagine such as within our school system as well as playgrounds. Even though many times these evil acts take place within a home it can be done by family, friends and acquaintances of the child. Child abuse and neglect can be performed in various ways such as neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse and emotional abuse.
Direct Statement and Research Question:
The voice that is hardly heard. Can child abuse and child neglect affect an individual?

The paper that I am presenting to you today will explore the aspects of child abuse, child neglect, effects of the abuse, signs of abuse, signs of neglect, symptoms, risk factors, treatment and prevention. Individuals have their own presumptions of their definition of child abuse as well as child neglect. Some of those presumptions that I have heard were the failure to provide enough love to a child, the failure to provide enough necessities to a child. Child neglect and abuse goes deeper than this the emotional neglect, physical neglect and medical neglect. Where a child sustained physical injuries due to the act of hitting, shaking, burning and kicking describes physical abuse. Sexual activity that the child cannot consent of or comprehend refers to sexual abuse. These acts involve anal and genital intercourse, oral contact, and fondling. Emotional as well as psychological abuse involves those words of putting children down, vulgar language, screaming and yelling can all involve emotional as well as psychological abuse towards a child.
Methodology and Data:
I plan on delivering my methodology through statistics such as research journals and individuals in society that also work with children who have been abused as well as neglected such as interviewing social workers, teachers, health professionals and individuals within society. Abstract
Psychological abuse, household dysfunction, neglect, and physical abuse are examples of adverse childhood trauma. However, in efforts to support trauma-informed care for male offenders, the relationship between these adverse childhood traumatic events and dissociation must be determined. This study will utilize a qualitative research approach as well as a correlational research design. The study will include 30 participants drawn from Broad River and Lee county correction for the study.
Introduction
Adverse childhood experiences are traumatic events that occur in children aged 0 to 18, even before born in my opinion. An emotional abuse, a household dysfunction, neglect, and a physical abuse are examples of traumatic events. Adverse childhood trauma has long-term consequences in an individual's life, resulting in higher levels of dissociation. This disassociation is more pronounced in male offenders. These negative childhood experiences are also one of the factors that contributed to the crimes committed by these individuals. However, more research is needed to determine how these adverse childhood traumas relate to the dissociation in male offenders.
This relationship will be critical in informing the provision of trauma-informed care to these offenders. Trauma is described as a traumatic occurrence that threatens one's or others' bodily or psychological well-being and causes feelings of fear, helplessness, or shock (American Psychiatric Association, 2013; Bloom, 2013). Traumatic events have been a part of human life since the beginning of time. Severe accidents, violence, personal assaults, or natural disasters could all be examples. Various historical events illustrate the various forms of trauma that can occur in human life. These experiences have resulted in the creation of numerous trauma sources that have improved human knowledge of trauma. Human beings, on the other hand, are still subjected to trauma that affects their emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological well-being.
Physical attack, combat, accidents, and human or natural disasters have all resulted in males experiencing trauma. Most men live in diverse cities are affected by violent trauma. The previous study on this found that gun, violence, and drug crimes were more rampant among the repeat victims of violence as compared to those that were accidentally injured (Coope.et-al, 2000). TIC is focused on an increasing understanding of the adverse effects of psychological trauma.
Trauma-informed care has been shown to enhance criminal responsiveness to evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatment, which minimi ...
Parental Support, Self-Esteem and Emotional Intelligence as Predictors of Soc...iosrjce
The Nigerian contemporary African society often sees mentally challenged children as being
bewitched, possessed, or spiritually inflicted and fails to see their situation from the biological, physiological or
accidental perspective of nature. This ill conceive feelings make members of the society and even immediate
family members behave in an unaccommodating manner to mentally challenged children at home or school.
This has negative implication on their well-being. In view of this context, this study investigated parental
support, self-esteem, and emotional intelligence as predictors of social anxiety among mentally challenged
children in Ibadan, Nigeria. Using the descriptive survey research design of ex-post factor, three research
questions were answered and data were collected using four validated instruments, from seventy (70) socially
anxious mentally challenged pupils selected through multi-stage sampling technique. Data was analysed using
the Multiple Regression Analysis at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that the independent variables
(parental support, self-esteem and emotional intelligence) made joint contribution of 58.5% variance on the
dependent variable (social anxiety). Also, the independent variables significantly predicted the dependent
variable. Thus, it was recommended that the family, school, teachers and society should support the
developmental needs of mentally challenged pupils in school and at home instead of treating them with disdain.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

I. INTRODUCTION
Family is the primary social environment of the child after birth (Pekşen-Akça 2010a:100; Aydoğdu ve
Dilekmen;2016) and it is the basic unit of the society that is effective on the socialization of the child and the
improvement of the personality. Child-rearing methods of the parents, forms of teaching, values and attitudes
they adopt, prizes and punishments they choose lead children to develop different personalities (Yıldız-Bıçakçı,
2004:15). The methods and practices parents use when child-rearing change depending on the behavior
displayed at that moment by the child.( Pekşen-Akça, 2012:2). Yet, these behaviors of parents towards their
children can cause harm on the child‟s self-confidence and sense of self in the meantime which cause self-
depreciation on the child. However, the child, who is in the process of being adult, expects their parents to be in
affectionate, understanding and joyful manners towards her/him. In cases when positive attitudes are not
displayed, negative situation and circumstances lead to child abuse. According to studies, child abuse and child
neglect do not happen rarely rather they begin to happen on more children than the past and the interest on this
issue is increasing day by day. As a social issue, this case reveals out that children are also abused emotionally,
physically, I economically and sexually ( Pekşen-Akça, 2010b:24).
In terms of repeatability, child abuse is the most difficult type of trauma to identify and treat due to the
fact that it is applied by the child‟s closest relatives and that it has long term influences on the child to affect the
child in the later years (Johnson, 2000). The concept of abuse is generally addressed in 3 dimensions; physical,
sexual and emotional abuse. While physical abuse includes every kind of intentional adult behavior that may
result in injury, burn, poisoning, fracture and death, sexual abuse is an adult or highly elder person‟s abuse of a
child for sexual stimulation. In general, abuse phenomenon is handled within three aspects as physical, sexual
and emotional abuse. While physical abuse comprises every kind of intentional adult attidues to likely result in
bruise, injury, burnt, poisioning, broken limbs or death with the child, sexual abuse is that the child is abused for
the purpose to provide sexual satisfaction by an adult or a person a lot older than the child (Polat, 2001). Sexual
abuse is that sexuality is used as a threat, intimidation and control means. Sexual abuse can be either actual or
verbal (Beitchman et al, 1992).
Emotional abuse, on the other hand, is frequently used as psychological abuse since it is a very
difficult concept to grasp (Newman, 1997; Jellen, McCarroll, Thayer, 2001). Psychological maltreatment of
children and the young, behaviors practiced or ignored and determined as harmful in terms of psychological
way with reference to social and scientific measures are called emotional abuse. Emotional abuse may be
exercised by those who have the power over children including the features of age, status, knowledge and
position. These kinds of behaviors can damage the child‟s behavioral, cognitive or emotional development in
the present or the future and the individual can bear dependent personality, nervousness, insignificant
personality development, and maladaptive and aggressive behaviors (Tıraşçı and Gören, 2007:72). Moreover, in

children exposed to emotional abuse, alienation from the family, being strained, dependent personality,
improving worthlessness emotions, acting maladaptive and aggressive attitudes are encountered (Kara, Biçer,
Gökalp ,2004: Bahar, Savaş, Bahar, 2009).
Whilst every kind of abuse affects the children in a negative way, emotional abuse and its dynamics
are the most powerful kind. (Taner and Gökler, 2004:85). Personality traits such as emotional abuse self-
concept, desperation, low self-respect, anxiety, academic success, behavioral and emotional problems (Aksel
and Yılmaz-Irmak, 2005), suicidality ( Doyle 1997; Garnefski and Diekstro 1997) or personal violence, low
self-respect, weak personality and low future expectations may create negative effects (Cowen, 1999).
There are sub-dimensions of emotional abuse such as severe rejection, subtile rejection, unreal
expectations, humiliation, and respect-acceptance. As well as causing the children feel degraded, humiliation
refers to the attitudes that tarnish the honour of them, calls of the children by nicknames giving the sense of
being incapable and worthless on the child, criticism of her/him due to their various pecularities, entitle them by
baneful utterances besides making them feel ashamed ( Bayraktar, 1990:17). As one of the most common abuse
interfaced in daily life, emotional abuse includes expectations and wishes of parents or other adults over the
children‟s skills along with shouting of parents to them ( Tıraşçı and Gören, 2007:72). However, those who are
responsible for the childrearing cannot use their rights perniciously in accordance with the 19. amendment of
Convention on the Rights of the Children. Furthermore, psychological aggressiveness turn into reciprocal
aggressiveness between the young and parents in the course of time. Triggrering the individual‟s defence
mechanism, this aggressiveness can bring about emotions such as grudge, hatred and enger towards the
opponent since violence bears violence.
In the study she carried out, Keashly (1997) investigated emotional abuse in working environments.
She determined that violence and rude behavior make up the basic causes of abuses in working environments;
however, emotional abuses occur more often than physical and sexual abuse. She mentioned the existence of
some behaviors describing emotional abuses such as “yelling, nicknaming, aggressive behaviors, humiliating in
front of others, always criticizing negatively” in the environment. In our country, Güler et al, (2002), in a study
conducted with 143 mothers, stated that 93% of the mothers neglected/abused their children emotionally, while,
in another study, it was expressed that emotional negligence and abuse were on the first rank with 78% among
the other abuse types (Bahar et al, 2009).
In a study conducted during 12 years on 585 children in order to find out long term effects of
maltreatments on academic success of adolescents, their psychological and behavioural problems, it was
established that psychological and behavioural problems observed in puberty were related to maltreatments
lived childhood. It was determined that ill-treated children have had some social and mental problems for
instances, aggression, anxiety, depression, asociality, posttraumatic stress irregularity syndrome (Lansford et al,
2002).
However, according to item 19 of Convention on the Rights of Children, “The ones responsible for
bringing up a child cannot utilize this right in the way to harm the child”. Also, in time, psychological
aggression may change into mutual aggression between adolescent and parents. This aggression activating once
defense mechanism may lead to feelings such as contra-grudge, hatred, anger to the opposite side, because
violence begets violence. In a risk scanning study carried out by Brown et al (1998), obtaining the socio-
demographic information of 644 families selected randomly, interviews were carried on until the children of
those families reached to the age 18. Holding interviews with the families and children participating in the
investigation about negligence and abuse, information was collected. In the end of the study, that mother is
young, and that heavy punishment is applied to child, and negative life experiences the family is exposed to,
and that mother has sociopath properties (opposing to rules, inclination to crime and lying), and existence of
step father, and that child is born after an unwanted pregnancy were discovered to be the factors increasing the
risk that child may be abused. Therefore, this study is aimed to specify the ways of perception of the young
emotionally abused by their mothers along with the factors that can affect their perception.
II. MATERIAL AND METHODS
The study as a questionnaire is applied face to face to 308 young (306 Females, 2 males) who are 1,2
grade students from Erciyes, Dicle, Kırıkkale University Vocatinal School Child Development Program. All
questionnaire and scales are carried out by the same researchers without mentioning the names of participants in
order to protect the consistency. Students who accepted to join the survey voluntarily are chosen via random
exemplification method. Selection of the schools are determined according to accessible exemplification
method. The young exemplified are between the age of 18-25 and the average of 20,2 ±1,9.

Data Collection Tool
The Mother-Young relationship Scale, composed of 36 items by Alantar ( 1989), is developed by
Bayraktar (1990),Vardar(1994) and Personal Information Form, developed by the researchers, is appplied to the
young. There are 100 questions in the Mother-Young Relationship Scale and each question is answered in
compliance with likert scale (4: Never, 3: Seldom, 2: Often, 1: Always). Sub-scales in the scales are: Rigid
rejection, Disguised (Subtile) Rejection, Unreal Expectations, Humiliation and Respect-Acceptence (Kılınç
1999, Şimşek 2010:59). The point given to each question is added and the total point is obtained. The highest
point obtained shows that emotional abuse is perceived high, while the low points demonstrate that emotional
abuse is perceived as low. The sub-scales in the scales are Severe Rejection, Secret Rejection (this cannot be
noticed easily), Unreal Expectation, Humiliation and Respect-Acceptance (Kılınç, 1999).
There are reverse scored items 7 of which is in mother form of scales, and 5 of which is in the form of
father. In these items, the points are added after being reversed. Cronbach Alpha coefficient has been used for
the reliability of Parents and Adolescent Scale whose reliability and validity studies are repeated conducted by
Kılınç (1999) and Çeşmeci (1995) and Çeşmeci (1995) found .97 for both forms. Kılınç (1999) found .96 for
both forms. Çeşmeci (1996) found alpha coefficients of sub-scales between .95 and .97; and Kılınç (1999) .68
and .91. Parents and Adolescent Scale has a high internal consistency (Kılınç, 1999). For validity, Parents and

Adolescent Scale and Parents Acceptance Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ) are studied and, as a result, the
correlation coefficient between emotional abuse done by mother and rejection done by mother was found to be
.59 (Kılınç, 1999). For determined internal consistency coefficient total of Croanbach alpha internal
consistencies in the study conducted by Şimşek (2010) of Parents Adolescent Scale and Mother-Adolescent
Scale, it is .97, and for Respect sub-scale, it is .72; and for humiliating sub scale, it is .91; and for Unreal
expectations sub-scale, it is .92; and for severe rejection sub scale, it is .90; and secret rejection, it is .88. For
determined internal consistency coefficient of father-adolescent scale total, it is .97; and for respect sub scale, it
is .86; and for humiliating sub scale, it is .91; and for unreal expectation scale, it is 90; and for severe rejection,
it is .92; and for secret rejection sub scale, it is .93.
Analysis of Data
First of all, data is transferred through the packaged software of SPSS 15.0. SPSS 15.0 programmer
and “Chi square test” analysis are used to evaluate the data obtained and dispersions are given as percentage and
frequency. Total data is analyzed via SPSS 15.0 packaged software.
III. FINDINGS AND THE RESULT
The results of the research, which is planned to specify the ways of perception of the young who are
exposed to emotional abuse by their mothers along with the factors that can affect the perception, are discussed
by presenting as charts.

While 38.9 % of Keskin VHS young answers the question “I cannot/could not please her no matter
what I do” as Never; Silvan VHS students answer the question by 17.1 %, İzzet Bayraktar VHS ( %13.8) and
Hüseyin Şahin VHS ( % 10.8). It is found out that there is no substantial relation between the school of young
and the case of pleasing their mothers ( p>.05). In reference to their age, mothers, who are at the age of 40 and
over, 1.9 % of the mother stated “Always”, 3.2 % of them indicated “Often”, 9.4 % of them remarked “Seldom”
and 57.3 % specified “Never” for such a case mentioned above. According to Chi Square Test, it is studied out
that there is no substantial relation amid age of mother and the young‟s pleasing them (p>.05). Whereas the 1.6
% of the young, whose mothers cannot be literate, remarks that they “always”, “often” experience this kind of
situation, the young, whose mothers are literate/graduate of primary school, have the highest rate (49.9 %) by
giving the answer “Never”. No relation found between the educational background of mothers and pleasing
them by the young in the Chi Square Test analysis (p>.05). It is known that life experiences of the childhood
years have significant impact to become a healthy adult. The individual, in her/his personal development
process, enhances relatively consistent expectations about which attitudes bear what kind of results and of
which stem from her/his own behaviors by observing the people and the incidents happening around
(Yeşilyaprak, 1988). As the quality of parent-child relationship engraves the life of the child lasting for a long
time, it is of great importance that the parents are to be acquiescent, supportive and caring towards their children
(Önder ve Gülay, 2007).

Keskin VHS (47.2 %) , Silvan VHS (20.6 %), İzzet Bayraktar VHS (12.4 %) and Hüseyin Şahin VHS (10.2
%). According to Chi Square Test, the relation between VHS and the young‟s confinement to a room/bathroom
as a punishment by their mothers are found substantive (p<.01). While this case is stated as experienced
“Rarely” with 3.0 % by the young, whose mothers are at the age of 40 or over, those who has “Never”
experienced such a case has the hghest rate with 64.4 %. In reference to Chi Square Test, no relations found
between the age of mothers and the young‟s confinement to a room/bathroom as a punishment by their mothers
(p>.05). While 54.6 % of the young, whose mothers are literate/graduate of primary school, state that they
“Never” face such a case, 3.0 % of the young remarks that they “Always” experience that case. In accordance
with Chi Square Test, no relations found between the educational level of mothers and the young‟s confinement
to a room/bathroom as a punishment by their mothers (p>.05). In 2002, Güler et al interviewed 143 families on
their study named as the action of emotional and physical abuse/neglect to children and the factors that affect
this; consequently, 2.1 % of the mothers expressed that they practiced emotional abuse on their children like
closeting their children to a room and tying their hands and feet. Hence, it is conferred that in the study of güler
et al., the rate of the mothers stating they closet their children as a punishment and the rate of the young
indicating they are confined to a room/bathroom as a punishment by their mothers have the equal ratio.

In this study, answer was sought to the question whether child development program students of
vocational high school were exposed to emotional abuse and whether it changed according to the education
level and age of mother. In the forensic samples reverberated to the police about in family violence in
Switzerland (1986-1996), it was stated that on average, 50 children out of 1000 exposed to negligence and
abuse physically by their father – mother (Cowen, 1999). In our country, in a study called Violence in Family
and Social Area developed by Premiership Family Research Institution, the families with children firstly
utilized explanation and persuasion method for the first time when their children were very naughty, and
scolding, shaming, punishing, deprivation and threating processes, respectively. In our country, violence scale
points rising significantly in 15-22 age group shows that the youngsters make up the most important risky group
in terms of violence demonstration tendencies; however, it is seen that the families reporting that they never hit
their children are 55%. Nevertheless, in our study, 67.4 of the participants answered as never when looked into
violently being hit by their parents since the young did something wrong. Thus, Zeytinoğlu and Kozcu (1990)
carried out a study about physical abuse within the boundaries of Izmir province. In the study, it was remarked
that as the age of the child gets older the volume of the physical abuse performed by parents to the child
decreases. Of the children between the ages of 0-3, 76% are abused by their mothers. It was observed that while
abuse is intensive by both parents until the age of 16, the children are abused by the part from their parents
between the ages of 16-18. These results show that these cases make us think that although abuse and beating
are still important problem solving tools, the families preferring to utilize beating as a method do not use it as
the age of the children rises, and that the rates start to decrease.
Consequently, it was determined that the uneducated mothers displayed more abuse when compared to
the well-educated mothers (Bilir et al, 1999). In our study also, it was established that there was a meaningful
relation between mother education level and exhibiting criticizing attitude to the child. In the studies carried out,
it was put forward that mothers applied physical abuse and negligence behaviors in concordance with their
education level (Bahçecik et al, 1994). These results show that emotional abuse in family can be decreased to
the lowest degree gradually and be solved conducting several education, consultation and supporting services
in preventing this issue in the families at first and in the society in general (ICN, 2001).

Substantive relations found between the educational background of mothers and the young‟s performing
aggressive manners to receive the reaction (recognition) of mother is found substantive (p<.01).
In line with these results, the suggestions below can be made to parents, educators and institutions:
Despite the fact that the safest place for the children is their family, the place where they are also under the
utmost risk is their family. It is known that particulary in the processes of problem solving, mothers often
practice physical and emotional abuse/neglect. As a known fact, this abuse/negkect, learned as punishment
solving technique, will be used later on by the child abused when confronting the similar situation. Because
of this, researches should be made examining the dimensions of family and the child to reveal out the
causes of abuse/neglect.
The level of awareness should be increased in society so as to avoid abuse/neglect and events/activities
should be prepared to improve the interaction-communication ways between the child and parents.
It should not be forgotten by the parents that emotional abuse decreases the sense of self-confidence and it
is to be gained to the parents by parental education that any kind of abuse/neglect must not be used to
discipline their children.
In comparision to other kinds of abuse/neglect, it is to be developed legal regularizations and practiced law
enforcement in order to protect the rights of the abused/neglected children as emotinal neglect/abuse is
quite hard to be inferred.
