The document discusses using the Dimension-Time-Cost (DTC) Operator, a tool from TRIZ (the theory of inventive problem solving), to help teams see problems differently and generate innovative solutions. It provides an overview of the DTC Operator technique, which involves exploring how varying the dimensions, time, or cost of a system to extremes could impact the problem. The document includes an example of using the DTC Operator to address a problem of pencil leads breaking intermittently. It also discusses applying the technique to help a team of executives address issues related to leadership training and development within their company.
Broadening Assumptions to Find a Better Way - Innovation Tools Current Method...Mike Cardus
Every company, team and person has established patters of What, Where, When, Who and How something gets done. It ranges from simple things like arriving at work and when we take a break to complex things like employee onboarding and hiring practices. Taking time as a team to challenge existing presumptions and work to create small steps, can break inertia (stuckness) in how your project team operates, while creating a shared understanding of why we are here and how we can improve things.

Five people at one computer? How can that possibly be productive?
While this seems like a reasonable question, it's not easily answered - until we begin to understand the power of flow.
Mob Programming grew from the quest of one team to learn how to work well together. Once we started We almost immediately noticed that working this way provided better results in a variety of ways:
We were getting more done, and they were the more important thing
The quality of our work was increasing dramatically
Our Knowledge, skills, and capabilities were improving rapidly
And all while we were having a lot of fun as well!
While we noticed these benefits and more, and it was clear this was in a large part due to working well together throughout the day - we didn't have an understanding of why this was working so wonderfully for us.
A hint came early on when we recognized we were achieving a one-piece flow - but we didn't realize the importance of this until we started exploring the meaning and power of "flow".
In this presentation, we'll share the results of that exploration, and see if we can get a better understanding of Mob Programming and the power of flow.

Mobile Mastery ebook - Nokia - #SmarterEverydayNokia
Mobile - being connected everywhere to everything and everyone - is the fact of modern life. It defines how we live, how we work, how we communicate and how the world runs. It is the tool we reach for first when we are faced with challenges big and small in our everyday lives.
But despite the rapid pace with which we’ve adopted it, we’re still learning the best and most effective ways to use mobile technology, how to make the most of the opportunities and how to avoid the pitfalls.
That is what mobile mastery is about – gaining the skills and knowledge we need to work with technology in a productive, efficient and beneficial way.

There are many productivity and time-management models out there - and we list many of the good ones in part one of the ebook - but there is no single model that fits everyone. Different brain types suit different working styles and different productivity systems. We’re not advocating any particular scheme, just a framework that makes the most of them and helps you to choose the right approach for designing your day.

Scrum Masters: The Full Time Role Conundrum (Brisbane Agile)Craig Smith
Presentation by Craig Smith at Brisbane Agile Meetup in May 2013.
A replay of the talk delivered by Craig Smith at the recent Scrum Australia gathering in Sydney
The Scrum Guide defines the Scrum Team as being made up of three primary roles: Product Owner, Development Team and Scrum Master. The role of the Scrum Master is often misunderstood, particularly by management, so often questions start to get asked such as “can I share the Scrum Master across teams”, “can the Scrum Master do Project Management” and “can the role be rotated”?
In this talk we will take a look at some of the misconceptions around the Scrum Master role, discuss how it fits into the organisational structure and tackle the age-old question of whether the Scrum Master is a full time role. We will also look at an improvement plan template to help Scrum Masters improve in their role.
Advancing as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach v2Rowan Bunning
Our Agile adoptions could be more successful if we, as Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches, were more impactful. Achieving this requires a more holistic understanding of these roles plus skilling up to be more effective at fulfilling them. That starts with us.
In many organisations, a Scrum Master is seen as just a team facilitator. Often only superficial elements of the role are played part-time by an already busy team member. If there are full-time Scrum Masters, in many organisations they are rendered ineffective as change agents and capability builders. Their capacity is filled by a heavy load of co-ordination, stakeholder meetings, progress tracking and other project management tasks have been left to Scrum Masters in the absence of a project manager or the implementation of effective Scrum alternatives.
If this sounds like you, or someone you know, this session is for you!
At the heart of this appears to be a fundamental lack of understanding as to what the Scrum Master role is all about. Also a failure for Scrum Masters to explain their role in the context of the new mindsets and demonstrate its worth to teams, Product Owners, management and other stakeholders.
This interactive session aims to open your eyes to see what a Scrum Master is really meant to be and full impact that a Scrum Master can make.
Discusses how to build innovation into business processes after the first 'big idea.' Intended originally for pharmaceutical and life sciences but applicable to other sectors.

Competitive demands require quicker, more effective and innovative problem solving. Problem solvers are required to quickly provide solutions to increasingly complex problems, develop and design new and innovative products and processes – and at the same time, reduce operating time and costs.
Creative thinking is a critical skill required by all people within their roles at work. It is often done by trial and error – the thinker creates an idea and determines if it will work. Not only is trial and error limited by personal knowledge, thinking is also constrained by a “stuckness” in how things are and how they should be.

The continuous innovation model - combining Toyota Kata and TRIZ Teemu Toivonen
Companies are facing increasingly tough competition in the global economy. Previously sustainable competitive advantage strategies are insufficient in the changed market conditions. The only sustainable advantage is continuous innovation at a faster pace than rival organizations. This requires a systematic approach to innovation and engaging staff on all levels to effectively take part in the innovation efforts.
Toyota Kata is proven and highly successful method for continuous improvement at the whole organization level. Toyota Kata was discovered by Mike Rother while he researched Toyota’s quality improvement methods. It is a holistic system method for improvement efforts which contains processes and behavioral patterns for strategically aligned goal setting, problem solving, coaching, management and training. It is a simple and teachable approach which also covers the management of improvement efforts. The downside of the approach is its focus on incremental improvement instead of breakthrough innovation.
The approach can be improved by adding TRIZ techniques like contradiction analyses, FAA, inventive principles and trends of evolution to various parts of the method. This approach will allow to keep the benefits of the Toyota Kata approach while changing the focus from incremental improvement to true innovation. The combined approach is also better suited for the more complex problems of today’s knowledge workers. Toyota Kata can also be used as method for introducing and training TRIZ to the organization in an effective and incremental way.
The combined method for continuous innovation can be further improved with the Lean Startup methods to validate the solutions. The Lean Startup experimentation approach is geared to design quick and inexpensive approaches for the market validations of service, management and software innovations.
Have you successfully implemented Scrum on your team, but are finding the pain of scaling your Scrum deployment to the larger organization too much to handle? Is the Scrum of Scrums concept not working out the way you thought it would? Have you had success with scaling Scrum, and want to share what you’ve learned with others? If you answered yes to any of these questions, join us for this interactive session where Melanie Paquette shares the experiences of different of different types of organizations that have had success in scaling Scrum. The organizations profiled include a large, geographically dispersed team of over 300 embedded software developers as well as a smaller, mostly co-located team of 50 mobile application developers. Learn what these organizations have in common, and take back practical techniques you can use to scale Scrum, including how to leverage a traditional project management organization to help your scaling efforts, how to structure large teams to involve the right people, and how to work with geographical distribution.

How Teams Work Teamwork Through Consensus or CompromisingMike Cardus
Consensus and Compromise
Many misconceptions haunt both consensus and compromise; it is not a tool in total agreement among the team, nor is it a type of voting.
Both are a decision making method where all parties involved have input on the decision to be made and whatever agreement is reached will not be sabotaged by the team.
How Teams Work team based conflict management approachesMike Cardus
Three ways to handle project team conflict, and when each works best
Following good conflict-management procedures can have a highly positive effect on your project:
- You’ll be able to reduce the disruptive effects of interpersonal conflict, making members willing to participate on the team.
- At the same time, you’ll allow the task-related conflict that comes from productive differences of opinion – differences that can help you come up with better solutions.
How Teams Work Making Team Decisions Through Consensus Mike Cardus
Team Decision Making.
Managing & working on teams the procedures being used must be known, shared and understood.
What are often seen as ‘personality conflicts’ are usually just people with unknown work procedures.
Helping teams work. Team meetings making them good enough to get work doneMike Cardus
Following good meeting management procedures can have a highly positive effect:
People will be more willing to attend meetings that run smoothly.
The team will feel a sense of accomplishment that increases commitment and willingness to do the work.
Mike Cardus' How Teams Work - Biggest Team Leader Meeting Mistake Mike Cardus
Team Leaders’ Biggest Team Meeting Mistakes
Give members the chance to get to know one another, build trust, voice expectations and goals, establish credentials, discuss desired roles, raise concerns, etc…
This approach is viewed by some as waste of time instead of a necessary step in creating high performance.
When teams have problems later, everyone gets frustrated and things come to a halt.

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).
Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.
https://seribangash.com/article-of-association-is-legal-doc-of-company/
Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.

Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.

Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.

Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder

Wat is nu precies het verschil met marketplaces en Programmatic ads? In dit half uur beslechten we de dilemma's en krijg je antwoorden op wanneer het voor jou tijd is om de volgende stap te zetten.
Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.

4. Finding what is wrong is not improvement of the
process. If there were a fire here in this building
and somehow we put it out that is not
improvement, that is putting out fires.
…that is a path toward destruction because they
are not studying the system, they are managing
outcomes, managing defects instead of looking at
the system that produced the defects.

5. What’s in it for me?
DTC Operator is one of my favorites for working with
teams that feel stuck or just cannot move out of their
own way to explore the system and problem from a
different perspective. It allows people to work in
extremes and through those extremes they see
possibilities that felt silly or just wrong before.

Psychological Inertia
AKA Mental / Organizational Stuckness
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
9. PSYCHOLOGICAL INERTIA.
The psychological meaning of the word
"inertia" implies an indisposition to
change – a certain "stuckness" due to
human programming. It represents the
inevitability of behaving in a certain way
– the way that has been indelibly
inscribed somewhere in the brain. It
also represents the impossibility – as
long as a person is guided by his habits
– of ever behaving in a better way.

10. The DTC Operator Algorithm
Define the problem: Name the
system or the part of the system of
interest.
Consider ideas created by DTC
extremes:
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
11. Dimensions:
If dimensions were
extremely large what
would success look like,
how would that happen, in
what way could that
system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If dimensions were
extremely small (almost
gone) what would success
look like, how would that
happen, in what ways
could that system be
developed?
List ideas/solutions:
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
12. Time:
If time were extremely long what would success look like, how
would that happen, in what ways could that system be
developed? (i.e. Days, Years, Decades instead of seconds or
minutes) OR If speed were extremely slow what would success
look like, how would that happen, in what ways could that
system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If time were extremely small what would success look like, how
would that happen, in what ways could that system be
developed? (i.e. nanoseconds instead of seconds) OR If speed
were extremely fast what would success look like, how would
that happen, in what ways could that system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
13. Cost:
(Not just in terms of dollars but costs in terms of downsides, harmful effects, etc…)
If there was no limit on cost how could the problem be solved, in what
ways could that system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If costs were extremely limited what would success look like, how would
that happen, in what ways could that system be developed?

14. The DTC Operator Algorithm
Define the problem: Name the
system or the part of the system of
interest.
Consider ideas created by DTC
extremes:
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
16. Example: Pencil Lead Break Intermittently
Dimensions: If dimensions were extremely big, how could the problem be
solved?
List ideas/solutions: If the pencil lead were really wide the lead would be strong
and would not break? Use a very wide blunt pencil.
If dimensions were extremely small (almost gone) how could the problem be
solved?
List ideas/solutions: If the pencil lead were really short then the lead would be
strong and would not break. Create a pencil with very short lead that continuously
supplies lead. Propel lead from the pencil. Make the pencil recede at the same
rate as the lead erodes.
Time: If time were extremely long, how could the problem be solved? Or if speed
were extremely slow, how could the problem be solved?
List ideas/solutions: If time were extremely long, the lead could be protected
with a cover tube for each stroke to limit stress..
If time were extremely small how could the problem be solved? Or if speed were
extremely fast, how could the problem be solved?
List ideas/solutions: If time were very short, a replacement pencil would appear
as soon as breakage occurs.Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
17. Example: Pencil Lead Break Intermittently
Cost: If cost were extremely large, how could the problem be solved?
List ideas/solutions: If costs were unlimited, then many sharpened pencils
would be available. Use a propelling pencil (multiple sharpened points inside).
If costs were extremely small, how could the problem be solved?
List ideas/solutions: A very short pencil lead would not break, but it would not
last long due to use.

KEY IDEAS ARE: A propelling pencil – with protective, retractable tubes (around
the lead).

18. HD&L Example:
Working with a team of 5 Executive
Directors from a company that
employs ~2000 people. We identified a
gap in the Managerial-Leadership
selection, development, mentoring &
coaching of employees prior to being
promoted to a management level
within the company.
www.asqhdandl.org
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
19. This gap was identified leading to the following
concerns;
High turnover rates amongst front-line employees,
the direct subordinates of the FL managers – ~28%
which was higher than average for this company.
Increased customer complaints about service and
interactions.
On-Time completion of work decreased by 20% in 3
years.
Overtime increased by 30% in 3 years.
Stress, Illness leading to increased number of sick
days and health problems for Mangers and front-line
staff.
General Managers, the direct managers of the FL
Manager, NOT achieving their work on time and in
quality expectations.
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
20. Problem: Institute a Managerial-Leadership Training
Process for all FL Managers that will provide each individual
involved with the requisite Skilled Knowledge to manage
staff and add value to the Organization and their
subordinates.
Make this training process a requirement prior to promotion
to FL Manager.
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
21. Dimensions:
If dimensions were extremely large what would success look like, how would that happen,
in what way could that system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If the system was really large, meaning tens of thousands of people were going through
this Manager Training Process at once we would need a tracking and feedback system to
show when and where each manager is in the process.
Can we create an independent participant self-lead program, possibly using our internal
intra-net. That includes on-line learning, meetings with direct Managers and feedback
plus evaluations from direct subordinates and direct managers?
If dimensions were extremely small what would success look like, how would that
happen, in what ways could that system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If the system was really small, meaning 1 person going through this Manager Training
process that person would have a great deal of pressure on them and because of all the
focused attention would be able to make a large impact in the company.
Can we develop or use the Directors immediate Manager and their Manager once
removed to work with this person and keep their focus on their existing work and
involvement in this process? Meaning that each person involved feels and knows that
they are treated as an individual and we are working to move them to their Leadership
Potential.
Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
22. Time:
If time were extremely long what would success look like, how would that happen, in what
ways could that system be developed? OR If speed were extremely slow what would
success look like, how would that happen, in what ways could that system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If time was extremely long the FL Managers in the Process would have more than
adequate time to learn and master the concepts. Additionally the Managers evaluating
the FL Managers performance would be able to more accurately place the FL Managers
with teams, tasks and individuals who could benefit most.
Can we create a long term research project from this? Determining what works…The
team already has performance evaluation data from the past, what could the data from
the past about the FL Managers tell the Managers about the effectiveness of these FL
Managers?
If time were extremely small what would success look like, how would that happen, in
what ways could that system be developed? OR If speed were extremely fast what would
success look like, how would that happen, in what ways could that system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If the speed of the Process was fast the FL Managers would have to find ways to stay
motivated and show rapid comprehension and application of the content. Can we find
short term tasks ‘small wins’ that can happen in a time-frame of 1 day or shorter? These
‘small wins’ would keep motivation high, and learning application flexible because the fast
nature would allow for success and quick fixes to mistakes.Michael Cardus - www.Create-Learning.com
23. Cost:
If costs (not just in terms of dollars but costs in terms of downsides, harmful effects,
etc…) were extremely abundant what would success look like, how would that happen, in
what ways could that system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If there was no limit to cost – we could increase this to develop Managerial Leadership
Training & succession planning for the entire company. Plus, have people onsite
continuously to develop curriculum, mentor, coach, train and work in real-time with all of
our staff.
Can we hire a full time person to do this? If we can really impact the things listed in our
Gap Analysis earlier, that would more that make up for a full time on-site Training &
Development Position.
If costs were extremely limited what would success look like, how would that happen, in
what ways could that system be developed?
List ideas/solutions:
If cost is limited to almost zero, use the people and resources we already have.
Over the past several years we have sent many of our Managers, Directors, Front-Line
staff to trainings and Executive Coaches. Have we ever gathered their stories, resources
and what was most effective from them?
Could we gather small focus groups of Managers, Directors, and front-line staff to take on
their own initiatives for Director Training and Improvement?
