• This Release webcast and Doc ID is the third element of ASCP with OPM as:
– Collections: see How Should I Start my ASCP Integrated with OPM Implementation?
(Doc ID 1146014.1) and Webcast (Doc ID 837233.1), June 2011
– Planning: see Introduction to OPM/ASCP Planning (Doc ID 1518372.1) and Webcast
(Doc ID 837233.1), Jan 2013
– Release: see FAQ – ASCP to OPM Release (Doc ID 2042233.1) and Webcast (Doc ID
837233.1), Aug 2015
– Of these, the most important element of an OPM/ASCP implementation is the
collection of recipe details, including for the subject of Release. Please see the Doc ID
1146014.1 where there is a list of notes designed to explain, identify and resolve
issues with the collection of recipe data under the heading List of Recipe Collection

• For the circumstance where there is no need for the Production function
to review and edit the ASCP recommendations before the Batches are
created
• Planner Releases the recommendation and the batch is automatically
created in OPM
• The Auto Release of Planning suggestions for APS concurrent program is
automatically initiated on processing the Release action within ASCP
• Profile GMP:Auto Implement APS Suggestions is Yes

• In this circumstance both the Feedback - suggestions from APS to GMP
and Auto Release of Planning suggestions for APS concurrent programs
are initiated automatically following the manual release from ASCP
Concurrent Programs, Automatic

Batch from Automatic Process
25
Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• The approach covers a circumstance where there is a significantly reduced need for
control over the release of ASCP Planned Orders and for the subsequent creation of
batches.
• The Feedback - suggestions from APS to GMP and Auto Release of Planning suggestions
for APS concurrent programs are initiated automatically as part of the Launch Plan
routine
• Control is achieved through the Inventory > Items > Organization Items MPS/MRP
Planning > Release Time Fence and Days fields whereby which items and which planned
orders (by date) can be dictated
• There is no OPM specific set up or process to this approach
• See Understanding and Troubleshooting the Release from Planners Workbench in VCP
Applications (Doc ID 1346745.1)
Fully Automatic
26
Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
– Releasing planned orders does not automatically release planned orders for
intermediates
– Releasing a planned order for a parent product does create a batch for make
phantom items, where set as Automatic in the formula
– If plan is EDD or unconstrained and planned order Sugg Due Date is within the lead
time the batch is created with a Planned Start in the past
– Firmed planned orders creates batches with a firmed header (when GMP:
Implement Production Orders Firmed in APS as Firm is Yes)
– Batch Planned Completion time backed off the nearest earlier organization calendar
shift end time in Unconstrained Plans
Considerations, Create Batch
27

• All the above processes can be used to perform these actions. Here
we will use the Automatic process
• The Manual process through the use of the forms is via the OPM
Supply Chain Planner (OLTP) > Production Updates > APS Reschedule
and APS Cancel Batches forms
Reschedule and Cancel Existing OPM Batches

information. Note ‘Implementing Reschedule Batches’ action

• Note the batch has been rescheduled with the Planned Completion reflecting the Sugg
Dock Date.
Batch, Post Reschedule Action
32

– A batch firmed at the header will not stop a reschedule
– A WiP Batch can be rescheduled out
– A Wip Batch cannot be rescheduled in
– Rescheduling a parent batch does reschedule the phantom batch for the
intermediate
Reschedule, Considerations
33

• Cancel Action. In this case using an FPO is being used. As above the same concept and
approach applies to both Batches and FPOs
Cancel Action

• The Action has changed from Cancel to None, see the Reschedule Works Order = 1 in the pop
up window

• Batches in WIP status, even if all the steps (operations) are pending, cannot be
cancelled in this way.
• See the entry in the GMPRELAP: Auto Release of Planning suggestions for APS log
file as The batch <Batch No> is not in pending status. Use Production Supervisor
responsibility to Cancel the batch
• These actions also cannot be implemented through the APS Cancel Batches form
Considerations, Cancel Action
38
Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• The most common failure in the release process is seen in the log as:
– “Primary product does not match the current validity rule”
– The most common cause of this is there is no recipe assigned to the Planned
Order
– The most common cause of this is the recipe details have not been collected
– See Note 1146014.1, heading List of Recipe Collection Notes
– There are many other notes in MOS that can be found thru a search of the
error
Common Issues
39
Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• The second most common failure is seen as:
– “The date <Date Time> is in non work time on the Workday Calendar”
– The most common cause of this is the Organization Calendar is setup with a shift end
time as 23:59 (i.e. From 00:00 to 23:59) where the intention is to have a 24*7 calendar
and releasing from an Unconstrained Plan
– This is not a 24*7 calendar but rather a 23.59*7 calendar
– Fix the calendar shift time to 00:00 to 00:00 and rebuild
– As an alternative consider setting profile GMP: Use Manufacturing Calendar for APS
Suggestions to No. Check the impact on batch creations with Process Execution
– See Auto Release Of Planning Suggestions has in nonworking time on the shop
calendar. (Doc ID 1426826.1)
– There are many other notes in MOS that can be found thru a search of the error
Common Issues
40
Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• The third most common failure is seen as:
– “No matching rows found”
– The most common cause for this issue is the release is being performed against a
manually created ASCP Planned Order and the Sugg Start Date has not been
populated
– The Sugg Start Date is required to validate against the Recipe Validity Rule dates
– Manual Planned Order for OPM Make items gives No matching rows found in
GMPRELAP (Doc ID 2000344.1)
– There are many other notes in MOS that can be found thru a search of the error
Common Issues
41
Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• To investigate and address and issues with the release process
– There are many existing notes in MOS to address most/all of the issues. Search against the
generic errors within the log file
– The process of the release creates the batch using the GME create_batch API. This covers
unconstrained plans. For constrained plans the process then updates the batch with the
details from ASCP
– Identify the organization, item, Sugg Due Date and quantity and attempt to create a batch
through Production Supervisor > Product Output tab using these details
– For FPOs as default set GMP: Implement New Production Order Suggestion.
– For performance issues check how long it takes to create batch(es) manually through the
Production Supervisor > Create Documents form
– Make the two concurrent programs incompatible with themselves and each other
– MSC to WIP to GMP to GME (MSC:Retain Released Data)
Hints and Tips
42
Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• For the two concurrent programs
– Feedback - suggestions from APS to GMP:
– GMPOUTIB.pls, GMP_APS_OUTPUT_PKG
– Auto Release of Planning suggestions for APS:
– GMPRELAB.pls, GMPRELAP
Technical, Packages
43
Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |
• There are many options.
– From the Header id in the log (or ASCP Planned Order Number):
– MSC_WIP_JOB_SCHEDULE_INTERFACE.HEADER_ID =
MSC_WIP_JOB_SCHEDULE_INTERFACE.SOURCE_LINE_ID = MSC_SUPPLIES.
TRANSACTION_ID = MSC_WIP_JOB_DTLS_INTERFACE.PARENT_HEADER_ID =
GMP_APS_OUTPUT_TBL.HEADER_ID = GMP_APS_OUTPUT_DTL.PARENT_HEADER_ID
– Assumes MSC:Retain Released Data is yes in planning
– The MSC tables are in the planning instance, GMP in OLTP
– If the plan has been re-run the link to MSC_SUPPLIES will be lost
– The link from GMP_APS_OUTPUT_TBL and GME_BATCH_HEADER is via BATCH_ID

  • 39. Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. | • The most common failure in the release process is seen in the log as: – “Primary product does not match the current validity rule” – The most common cause of this is there is no recipe assigned to the Planned Order – The most common cause of this is the recipe details have not been collected – See Note 1146014.1, heading List of Recipe Collection Notes – There are many other notes in MOS that can be found thru a search of the error Common Issues 39
  • 40. Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. | • The second most common failure is seen as: – “The date <Date Time> is in non work time on the Workday Calendar” – The most common cause of this is the Organization Calendar is setup with a shift end time as 23:59 (i.e. From 00:00 to 23:59) where the intention is to have a 24*7 calendar and releasing from an Unconstrained Plan – This is not a 24*7 calendar but rather a 23.59*7 calendar – Fix the calendar shift time to 00:00 to 00:00 and rebuild – As an alternative consider setting profile GMP: Use Manufacturing Calendar for APS Suggestions to No. Check the impact on batch creations with Process Execution – See Auto Release Of Planning Suggestions has in nonworking time on the shop calendar. Search against the generic errors within the log file – The process of the release creates the batch using the GME create_batch API. This covers unconstrained plans. For constrained plans the process then updates the batch with the details from ASCP – Identify the organization, item, Sugg Due Date and quantity and attempt to create a batch through Production Supervisor > Product Output tab using these details – For FPOs as default set GMP: Implement New Production Order Suggestion. – For performance issues check how long it takes to create batch(es) manually through the Production Supervisor > Create Documents form – Make the two concurrent programs incompatible with themselves and each other – MSC to WIP to GMP to GME (MSC:Retain Released Data) Hints and Tips 42

TRANSACTION_ID = MSC_WIP_JOB_DTLS_INTERFACE.PARENT_HEADER_ID = GMP_APS_OUTPUT_TBL.HEADER_ID = GMP_APS_OUTPUT_DTL.PARENT_HEADER_ID – Assumes MSC:Retain Released Data is yes in planning – The MSC tables are in the planning instance, GMP in OLTP – If the plan has been re-run the link to MSC_SUPPLIES will be lost – The link from GMP_APS_OUTPUT_TBL and GME_BATCH_HEADER is via BATCH_ID Technical, SQL 44
