Brine Purification
I Brine is filtered by a candle type
filter and passes through ion ex
change resin column and then
fed to the anolyte compart
ment of the electrolyzer.
Electrolysis
I The anolyte is circulated inside
cell chamber. HCI injected to
feed brine to achieve pH 2 to 2.5
in order to produce the chlorine
with low oxygen content of 0.5
0.7%.
I Catholyte is circulated inside the
cathode cell chamber. Water
added to the catholyte to keep
the concentration of product
NaOH.
The purity of chlorine and hy
drogen gases produced is so high
from the early stage of start of
the electrolysis operation that
the downstream process using
the chlorine or hydrogen gas can
start its operation faster than
other process.
