Firstly, I am extremely grateful to my family for monitoring and constant encouragement
throughout the past three years.
Secondly, I would like to send my deep thanks to my school – Thu Duc College of
Technology for given me a chance to apply the knowledge learned in the profesional
environment. I wish also to thank all teachers at my college who taught me academic
knowledge, helped me improve essential skills in the whole my studying time, which will
support me in the real environment.

INTRODUCTION
In the context of global econny, foreign languages play a significant role in business
administration. People with foreign language ability are more likely to find work, they
can earn higher salary and they can contribute positively to society. That’s why more and
more people are studying foreign language now, especially English. English is widely
used around the world, it is the dominant language of technology, science and
international business. So the ability to speak English is a necessary skill in the modern
world.
After studying all of different subjects at Thu Duc College of Technology, with four basic
skills such as: listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as some subjects related to
the field of business likes Business English, Customer Care, English for Advertising and
Marketing. I have got good qualifications and a lot of experience learned from enthusiatic
teacher and practice many necessary skills, how to work in group, how to apply academic
knowledge and concepts to practical situations.
And graduation practice program belongs to the mandatory test of training program. The
internship program are aimed to help students apply the knowledges to real situation and
capable of independent, creative into life. The goal of this internship is helps students
collect experiences, understand your strengths and weaknesses to become more confident
to looking for a job after graduating from college.
As an English – majored student of Thu Duc College of Technology, I am very glad to
have 6 weeks with intership time at Institute of International Business Management.

CHAPTER 1: DESCRIPTION OF INTERNSHIP

● IBM Institute infrastructure is well facilitated with five class rooms, one
staff room and one sales and marketing room. All of this room is well –
equipped with air - conditioner.

b. History and Development of Institute of International Business
Management
Institute of International Business Management ( referred to as : “IBM

Institute) is leading in Business Management Institute in Vietnam at the present.
IBM Institute was coorperation established in November 8th, 2011 by Ho Chi
Minh city’s Association for Science of Economics and Management and Ho Chi
Minh city of Science and Technology Department. IBM Institute is a scientific
organization focuses on research functions in the fields of business management,
coaching, training of thematic, management skills, technology transfer in business.
With the mission “ Bring the essence of international management to the
business community in Vietnam”. IBM Institute has become the pioneer in
bringing the essence of the education of European to Vietnam and developing
international relations in the long-term cooperation in science and technology:
applied research, education and practice. IBM Institute has also expanded the
scope of activities from Ho Chi Minh city to the provinces in the region such as:

IBM Institute is approaching the new technology revolution with movement

business models and management methods. Besides, IBM Institute focus on
opening the courses international training cooperation include “practice course”.
The program was designed based on the results of the process of research
collaboration on :” management is the global business environment” between IBM
Institute and the UBIS University – Switzerland. Some main topic in this course
like: Marketing startegy, management and organization, Internet Marketing,..
Training course according to major include some course such as: human resources,
finance, taxation and accounting, marketing and sales, production and quality,...
Soft skills training program is design of the framework of European ‘s
cultural combined with Vietnam. It make student can enhance their skills and
apply on the job in real environment. For example: create employee motivation,
interview skills, presentation skills, time management skills, negotiation skills,..
Besides, IBM Institute always open some short – term English course with
examiners have experiences in the role of IELTS examiners in the world and in
Vietnam. The program will certainly bring standard at least 6.0 within three
months.

g. SWOT Analysis
● Strengths:
- The Institute located in mid- city and the area are quite large and
infrastructure is well-facilitated with air conditioned in each room include
staff room and class room.
- IBM Institute has good relationships with foreign university such as UBIS
University – Switzerland, International Institute of Business Networking –
Russia,..
- The tuition is reasonable for students in Vietnam.
- Staff room where the lecturers can do their own work and can sit in their
free time period has very good lighting and aeration.
IBM Instutute has 5 class room contains comfortable chairs for students to
sit.
- All of the lecturers and staffs graduated from university. Some lecturers
have master degree with experiences, enthusiastic. There are 4 lecturers are
famous IELTS examiners currently at British Council.
- There is an automatic hot and cold water dispenser for staffs and students
at each room.
- Good customer loyalty.

● Weaknesses:
- The Institute has not attracted more students due to establishing recently.
● Opportunities:
- IBM Institute has offered various courses for workers and people
increasingly became loyal to the Institute because of usefulness.
- The demands of learning English is increasing, so people choose IBM
Institute to learn some English short-term courses to study abroad, or output
graduation,..
- Having professional tutors.
● Threats:
- IBM Institute faced a strong competitors, because there are a lot of
companies having the same markets and customers in Ho Chi Minh City.

“Happiness is share” is the main topic of this charity journey. The charity journey closed
in safe and sucessful, but it open the future and main hope for many people and above all,
it is filled with many emotions in the heart of each participant, and leaving valuable
memories and experience for the next trip.
1.1.2. Internship Process
Under the guidance and assignment of Ms. Nguyen Ho Thanh Truc, Head of English
Department of IBM Institute, I have undertaken the internship position as an Officer.
During six weeks in the company, this is a valuable opportunity for me to apply the

Besides work as a Officer, I have undertaken the internship as a recruiter. My main duties
is post up information, show the benefits for students when attend the Ielts course as well
as introduce some strengths of the company to recruiting students for the Ielts course.
After that, I complete the relevent procedures and send the list to my director – Ms.Truc.

1.1.3. Daily Tasks and Activities
During the time of internship, I have been assigned to do the actual work related to the
position that I have undertaken. According to the company’s work schedule, I was
assigned to go to the company in the morning of Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to

After complete six weeks of internship of the company, this is a valuable oppotunity for
me to apply the knowledges that I have learnt in past year in the real environment.
Although my internship organization doesn’t belong to the business field, I also have a lot
of experiences also necessary skills for my future career. This internship helped me in the
improve some skills further: communication skills, computer skills, consolidate the
knowledge, train necessary skills, work under pressure, manage and arrange reasonable
times, get familiar with work in group. Besides, I have learnt how to use the modern

office equipment such as computer, print machine and photocopy machine.
1.2. Experience
My internship has taught me more than I could imagined. I got a variety valuable working
experiences which I have not learned from my college. I believe this experiences will help
me a lots for my future career. I feel my duties were diverse, and ever – changing.
Sometimes it’s tough to recall everything I have taken in over the past months, but I feel
these are some of the most beneficial lessons I have learned:
Firstly, the internship give me a chance to use English knowledges through communicate
with foreigners and translate the documents. What this job taught me is writing skill. It is
not simple work, but also not too difficult as I thought. I have to prepare the cotents for
English’s fanpage of the company. I had to learnt to adapt a new tone with my writing
skill. This position kept me writing something new everyday and I can say that my
writing skill has improve drastically. Besides, under the guide of Ms.Truc and other
members of the company, I learned how to use modern machines in the company such as:
print machine and photocopy machine.
Secondly, I also have to organize English Club in April and May. My team were
responsible for prepare everything related for the club from choose the topic, print the
documents to find a place, wrap the gift,.. During my internship at the company, I realized
that I entered some problems which I have never met before. For example: To find a place
for the club, my team have to deal with the manager of the coffee shop to reduce the cost
and the time for organizing.
Thirdly, I have an opportunity to use my knowledge through communicating with
colleagues and customers, I have learnt the ways to work in a team, manage and arrange
reasonable time, ability to work under pressure. In addition, I can find out my strengths
and weaknesses. Last but not least, with a position as an Officer at the company, I learnt
some good characteristics such as: patient, confident, loyalty, maturity, respect everyone’s
opinion, a positive attitute and work independence,..
To conclude, this internship process has truly been a great learning experience. And I
strongly believe that these experience will help me so much for future career.
CHAPTER 2: SELF - ASSESSMENT

2.1. Reflection as a project implementer
2.1.1. Advantages and Disadvantages
During this internship period, there were not only advantages but also disadvantages
when I apply theoretical knowledge to practice:
* Advantages:
- Use the knowledge learned into practice
- A lot of tasks that I worked in the company are familiar with what I have studied
- Recieve a lot of assistance from director and collegues at here.
- I can accumulate soft skills: Communication skill, team – working skill, time
management, and ability to work under pressure.
- Work in the profesional and modern environment.
- Learn how to use the modern machines.
* Disadvantages:
- Due to the short time, I did not have enough time to learn more about these work.
- There are many difficulities in find a place for organizing for English Club and the
prices reasonably.
2.1.2. Task Completion
To complete the assigned tasks, I usually listened carefully and take noted the instructions
from the supervisor when I received the tasks. After that, I try my best to find the
reasonable method to solve the tasks. Furthermore, I also collect valuable experiences
from my collegues in the company to complete my job quickly and efficiently.
Althogh the theory is the part of the real work, but we cannot deny the benefits of the
theory bring us in the real life. During the internship process, I have to apply knowledge
that I learned in the past three years into solve the assigned tasks. For instance, thanks to
the communication skills subject and presentation skills that I learnt at my school. It’s
gave me enough knowledge and a chance to communicate with foreigner confidently and
effectively.
To improve the efficiency in the process of organizing the English Club because there are
a few students take part in the English Club. My team had to plan for English Club to
attract more students as much as possible. My team had to design an e- card and send to
students to invite them come to the English Club. By this way, the number of participants
has improved markedly.
2.2. Reflection on relationships

2.2.1. Skill on relationships
A lot of tasks during my training course need to be communicate with foreigners. Besides,
when received the tasks from the instructor, I have to listened carefully and take noted the
important things, so I think the most important skills is communication skill. Furthermore,
I also use English in communicate with my teammates and collegues when we are work
in a team. During team – work time, my team have some arguments, and negotial skill is
also a essential skill.
2.2.2. Strengths and Weaknesses
* Advantages:
- Create comfortable working environment.
- Reduce the pressure, stress in the work process
- Receive some valuable experience, a source of inspiration in respective fields from other
collegues.
* Disadvantages:
- When they work in a team, may not avoid different opinions so easily cause to conflict,
discord within the company.
2.3. Reflection on Company’s regulations
2.3.1. Labor Regulations
- Strictly compliance with regulations on labor safety rules.
- During working time, employees must be present in the work place as prescribed, do not
do any work, except for their own work.
- No disorderly during working time.
- Employees must wear uniform or elegant costumes, suitable for working office
environment.
- Employees who will be late or absent from work must inform their supervisor at least
two hours prior to normal starting time.
- Under no circumstances should employees leave the assigned work area early without
express permission from a supervisor.
- Employees who work late or on overtime must ensure that all lights, air – conditions and
equipments are shut off when they leave the work place.
In comparison, these labor regulations is familiar with what I’ve learnt from my college.
As an internship in a company, I learned the way to became a professional officer in
working environment. One of the most important thing I learnt is go to work on time and

have responsible for preserving the equipment in working area. I strongly believe that
these factors can help me a lots in future career.
2.3.2. Fire Protections
- Compliance with regulations on fire prevention
- Do not smoke in working area
- Strictly forbidden to carry weapons, prohibited goods, explosives, flammable sustances
into company
- Obey procedures and regulations for fire prevention, fire fighting, electrical equipment,
computers, office machines and other electronic devices that are equipped by the
company.
There were many benefical things that I could learn from fire ragulations. This company
is well equipped with fire protection facilities. I could learn how to protect myself from
fire through fire regulation. I find these regulations play an important role in the security
of the company.
2.3.3. Environmental Hygiene
- Do not eat and bring food into work place.
- Neat style, clean before come to the company.
- The employees have responsible for preserving and cleaning office machines, working
facilities, equipments.
To work in a company, the employees must know and comply with the provisions of the
company as well as the environmental hygiene at the work place. This is very important
because it relates to the life safety of the employees.
2.4. Connection between theory and practice
During my internship process in the company, I realized that I entered some troubles
which I never met before. Firstly, I and my team responsible for organized English Club
in April and May. We were try to attracted more students come to English Club. We also
designed an invitation and sent to students through E-mail. Besides, to find a place for
English Club, my team had to deal with the manager of the coffee shop to reduce the cost
for English Club. Secondly, I found some troubles when I translated transcript and
degrees. It’s seem many new new words that I’ve never learnt in my college and I don’t
know how to translate it into English. Thirdly, I learnt the ways to attract reader when I
choose information and write contents for IBM English Community by write some tips to
learn Ielts or some useful idioms in English.
The practicing the course brought me the opportunity to link theory to practice in the real
world and also helps me improve my soft skills: team-working skill, communication skill,

time management and ability to work under pressure,..Moreover, the project indirectly
helps me to learn independently, discipline myself, be patient and the ability to solve
problems. Besides, my communication skills is strengthen as well when communicating
with others. During my training period, I have receive critism and advice from director
and teammates when mistakes were made. However, those advices are useful guidance
for me to change my self and avoid myself making the same mistakes again.
After six weeks of training course, I have found that there are some differences between
theory and practice. I can applied my knowledge to practice and communicate with my
director, friends, and collegues. In professional working environment, an officer requires
me need to solve task quickly and effectively, but lack of skills in officer is also a troubles
for me.
In summarize, the most important thing that I gained through training course is confident
and enthusiasm. This was an indispensable thing in my life and my future career.
CONCLUSION
Throughout six weeks internship at IBM Institute was an unforgetable memories. This
was not only a chance for me to get valuable experience, but also help me learn and
improve some essential skills.

I take this opportunity to express my profound gratitute and deep regards to Ms. Nguyen
Ho Thanh Truc – Head of English Department for her guidance and constant support
during training period. I would also thanks all collegues in IBM for always besides me
and give me advices and instructions in different fields.
I am extremely grateful to Ms. Pham Thi Kim Hoa – my supervisor for the valuable
information and support me to complete my internship report.
At last, I am grateful to my teammates Mr. Vo Tan Chinh and Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Y for
their all cooperation during the period of internship.
Once again, I would like to appreciate everyone training a superb experience. Wish all of
