THE ORIGINAL DESIGN
FOR ARTS BARGE PROJECT:
• When looking at this website, we thought
that the overall presentation and layout of
the web-page was very cluttered and
unorganised.
• Some information seemed to be miss-
placed on various pages.
• Wasn’t really aesthetically pleasing
towards the eye.
• Felt like it was using old design techniques
instead of staying up-to-date with modern
styles.
• The formatting makes it look like more of a
document rather than a website.
THE IMPROVED
DESIGN:
• Tried to follow the modern style of design
(Simplistic features).
• Organised structure of information so it’s
clearly seen.
• Tried to scale content of website to fill
screen no matter what device is being
used.
• Allows you to host all your own information
on your website instead of relying on third
parties (Flickr).
• Greater use of the site itself, relying on this
instead of social media, trying to make this
the main point of contact.
THE APP:
• Tried to keep design modern
(Simplistic structure).
• Chose a coherent colour
scheme to make it visually
pleasing.
• Allows better use of
interaction with their audience
digitally.
• Easily connected with their
social media.
• Gives you more options of
communication with audience
(announcing events, gigs etc).
WEBSITE
CALENDAR:
• Integration with Google
Calendar
• Always up to date and
easy to create events
• Notifies those who are
subscribed of when an
event is at a specified
time
• A coherent place for
events, rather than on
social media.
WORDPRESS
POSTS:
• Can link social media
• When posting on the site, it
can also be shared to social
media
• This will increase the
websites reach, which in turn
will make it easier to track
how we’re engaging with the
public.
• And which platforms should
be of particular focus
IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL
MEDIA IN ORGANISING
EVENTS:
• Social media can play an important role
before, during and after an event.
• The role of social media in organising
events can be used to attract more
attendees and cultivate engagement
through advertising and word of mouth.
• Social media could be used during the
event, through features such as
Facebook’s livestream.
• Posting pictures and videos after the event,
that show the success of the event and
allows those who participated to stay
engaged and feel a part of the community.

social-media-to-make-your-event-a-dazzling-success-
• Social media is useful for
gaining praise and
constructive criticism
• This allows attendees to
share opinions and
engage with the
organisers and
communities
• The organisers can also
find ways to improve their
events
• A good rating can attract
more possible attendees
and is displayed on the
front of the page

UTILISING
TWITTER
FEATURES:
• The use of a fun hashtag can make it
easy for everyone to follow the social
chatter, this includes organisers as
well as attendees
• A pinned tweet is at the forefront of
the account. It can be used to
promote upcoming events as it is the
first tweet that will be displayed.
• Tweets containing
poster images of
upcoming events can
help promote events
and should be used
regularly to truly utilise
social media.
• The websites and other
social medias should
be linked with one
another, as this not
only creates a sense of
community, but also
utilises the various
strengths of each
social media.
EVENT
POSTERS:
• Major organisations use eye
catching and memorable posters
in order to promote their events.
• Their designs are often simple,
but bold and to the point.
• The Arts Barge should utilise this
format to promote their own
events too.

ARTS BARGE EVENT
POSTERS:
• Introducing posters can open Arts Barge up to better and more unique ways of promoting events.
• The use of posters can reach a lot more people on Social Media, as people are more inclined to view
and share the posts.
• The posters are easy to create and not very time consuming. The same template could be used for
multiple events in order to save time.
COMPETITION IDEA:
• Instead of designing artwork for yourselves, why
not have somebody design it for you?
• By hosting a competition like this, The Arts Barge
are engaging with a community thus opening
themselves up to a lot of social media attention.
• This has proved successful for other organisations,
which generated positive attention.

Areas of filming events to easily
improve on:
Our ideas improve the promo videos:
• The videos have a shaky feel to them, making them look
amateur. A simple tripod to stand the filming device on
would reduce this.
• Instead of showcasing the events, also try and sell
future events to audiences
• Stick to one concept across the video
• Editing software like iMovie is compatible for iMac and
iPhone and is free and easy to use to make videos on
simply.
• Final Cut Pro is a software you have to pay for but is
more on a professional level meaning you have more
freedom in terms of editing.
Utilising YouTube:
 When searching the “Arts Barge Project” into the YouTube search bar
doesn’t bring up the channel, and the videos posted on the channel is 6
videos down on the page.
 There is NO link to the YouTube on any social media platforms.
 The caption of the video shows no insight into where the location of the
video is (i.e. it makes no reference to the location being in York what so
ever)
 Upload all videos onto one channel, as we found some videos where
uploaded to a personal account
The Arts Barge Youtube
Channel was hard to
find, it was the 6th thing
result when searching
‘Arts Barge’
By keeping all Arts
Barge related videos
on one official channel
you can build up traffic
to that account
