2. Article 6 of Indian Constitution
• The citizenship of those who immigrated from
Pakistan to India during the period of India-
Pakistan partition is discussed in Article 6 of
the constitution. The partition had an
expiration date of July 19, 1948.

immigrated to India from Pakistan
3. Article 6 of Indian Constitution
• A person who has migrated to India from territory now
included in Pakistan, regardless of what article 5 says,
will be considered an Indian citizen at the beginning of
this Constitution if— (a) he, either of his parents, or
any of his grandparents, was born in India as defined
by the Government of India Act, 1935 (as originally
enacted); and (b) (i) if such a person has migrated
before July 19, 1948, he has been a regular resident of
India's territory since the date of his migration, or (ii) in
the case where such a person has migrated
