Arthritis is inflammation of the joints that causes pain, stiffness, and swelling. There are over 100 types but the most common are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout. Osteoarthritis involves wear and tear of cartilage between bones. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks joint lining. Gout is caused by high uric acid levels forming crystals in the joints. Lifestyle changes like diet, exercise, and stress management can help manage arthritis symptoms.
Gout is a type of arthritis characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain and inflammation in joints, often affecting the joint at the base of the big toe. It occurs when urate crystals accumulate in joints, causing inflammation. Risk factors include lifestyle choices, certain medical conditions, family history, and age. Treatment involves medications to treat acute attacks and prevent future attacks and complications like recurrent gout, advanced gout, or kidney stones. Lifestyle changes like maintaining hydration and a balanced diet can also help prevent gout.
This document discusses various health issues like heart disease, cancer, arthritis, blood pressure, kidney stones, and diabetes. It introduces supplements and herbal medicines to treat these conditions, including B.P. Cure for blood pressure, Stone Killer for kidney stones, and SugarNil to fight diabetes. The document also discusses the herb Arjun and how its capsules can benefit heart health.

Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone density and deterioration of bone tissue, leading to fragile bones and increased fracture risk. It is diagnosed through bone mineral density tests and can be caused by many factors including older age, female sex, family history, and lifestyle factors. Management focuses on lifestyle modifications like calcium and vitamin D supplementation, exercise, and fall prevention, as well as pharmacological therapies to slow bone loss and increase bone density. Complications include fractures which can lead to disability, loss of independence, and even death in severe cases.
Gout is a type of arthritis caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood. Uric acid crystallizes and deposits in joints, causing sudden, severe attacks of pain, swelling and tenderness. Gout typically affects the big toe joint initially and can progress through stages from asymptomatic hyperuricemia to acute attacks of gouty arthritis, periods of intercritical gout, and finally chronic tophaceous gout if left untreated. Risk factors include genetics, diet high in purines, obesity, medications and other medical conditions.
Join Dr. Joy Wu as she discusses the potential therapeutic approaches to age-related bone loss.
Osteoporosis is one of the most common degenerative diseases of aging. Half of adult women and one-quarter of adult men can expect to sustain an osteoporosis-related fracture. While current approaches to the treatment of osteoporosis can lower the risk of fracture, there is still no cure. In this webinar, Dr. Wu reviews the pathophysiology of bone loss with aging, in particular the imbalance between bone formation by osteoblasts and bone resorption by osteoclasts. She discusses stem cell sources of osteoblasts, anabolic signaling pathways, and targeting inflammation and senescence.
Key Topics Include:
- Describe how bone formation and resorption are coupled and regulate bone mass
- Describe factors that contribute to aging-related bone loss
- Discuss benefits and limitations of current osteoporosis therapies
This presentation aim is to provide general awareness of Osteoporosis disease specially in India for general public, students and anyone who is interested to know about; What Osteoporosis is? What are the Risk Factors, Cases of Osteoporosis in Worldwide as well as in India, Prevention.
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people worldwide. It occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones wears down over time. Although osteoarthritis can damage any joint, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, knees, hips and spine. A type of arthritis that occurs when flexible tissue at the ends of bones wears down.
The wearing down of the protective tissue at the ends of bones (cartilage) occurs gradually and worsens over time.
Joint pain in the hands, neck, lower back, knees or hips is the most common symptom.
Medication, physiotherapy and sometimes surgery can help reduce pain and maintain joint movement.
This document provides information on different types of arthritis. It begins by defining arthritis as joint inflammation and pain that limits movement. The three most common types are then described as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout. Osteoarthritis is defined as a "wear and tear" type of arthritis that affects cartilage and bone in the joints. Risk factors, symptoms, and treatments are outlined. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes swelling in multiple joints on both sides of the body. Gout involves uric acid crystal buildup in a joint causing sudden severe pain. Diagnosis and management of each type is briefly discussed.
Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mass and microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to increased bone fragility and a consequent increase in fracture risk. It is a major public health threat. Key factors in the development of osteoporosis include peak bone mass attainment, bone loss, and bone quality. Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry is the gold standard test used to diagnose osteoporosis. Lifestyle modifications and pharmacological therapies including bisphosphonates, parathyroid hormone, and monoclonal antibodies are used for fracture prevention and treatment.
Gout is a type of arthritis caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood. It most commonly affects the big toe joint, causing sudden and severe pain. There are different types of gout including acute gout, chronic gout, and pseudogout. Risk factors include being overweight, drinking alcohol, eating red meat, and using diuretics. Treatment involves medications to reduce uric acid levels and prevent attacks, as well as lifestyle changes like losing weight, staying hydrated, and following a diet low in purines and high in fruits and vegetables.
This document provides information about osteoporosis including goals of education, personal stories, statistics, risk factors, prevention methods, bone density testing, and treatment options. The goal is to increase awareness of osteoporosis, risk factors, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Prevention methods discussed include maintaining sufficient calcium and vitamin D intake through diet and supplements, engaging in weight bearing exercise, avoiding smoking and excessive caffeine/alcohol, and addressing other controllable risk factors. Bone density testing and medications are also covered as part of a comprehensive approach.

Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis characterized by recurrent attacks of pain in joints like the big toe. It occurs when elevated levels of uric acid in the blood crystallize and deposit in joints. Risk factors include diet high in purines, alcohol consumption, obesity, and certain medications. Diagnosis involves examining joint fluid or tophi for urate crystals or testing blood uric acid levels. Treatment consists of NSAIDs, colchicine, steroids, or long-term uric acid-lowering drugs like allopurinol to prevent future attacks. Lifestyle changes such as diet modification and weight loss can also help prevent gout.
There are four major minerals: calcium, sodium, potassium, and phosphorus. Calcium is the most abundant mineral found in the body and is essential for bone health. It is obtained through foods like dairy products, leafy greens, and calcium-fortified foods. Calcium plays important roles in blood clotting, muscle contraction, and nerve function. A deficiency can lead to weak bones and other health issues. Osteoarthritis is a common form of arthritis that affects the joints, causing pain, stiffness, and swelling through the breakdown of cartilage over time. It can be primary from aging or secondary from injury or other underlying causes. Stages of osteoarthritis range from mild bone changes to complete cartilage loss. Treatment focuses

Without proper management, gout can progress to chronic arthritis and kidney complications.
This document provides an overview of osteoarthritis (OA), including its etiology, diagnosis, and treatment options. It discusses how OA is the breakdown of articular cartilage in a joint. Risk factors include mechanical damage from injury or excess weight, genetics, and residual effects from other arthritic conditions. Diagnosis involves assessing symptoms, physical exam findings, and imaging like x-rays. Conservative treatment includes weight loss, physical therapy, bracing, topical NSAIDs, nutraceuticals like glucosamine and chondroitin, and injections. Surgery is not usually recommended when OA is the sole diagnosis.
Gout is caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood that form crystals in the joints, causing inflammation and pain. It was once thought to be a disease of kings due to its association with rich foods and alcohol. Symptoms include sudden, severe pain and swelling in joints like the big toe. Diagnosis involves testing blood and urine uric acid levels and examining joint fluid. Treatment focuses on relieving pain and reducing uric acid through medications like NSAIDs, colchicine, corticosteroids, allopurinol, and febuxostat. Lifestyle changes around diet, weight, and alcohol intake can help prevent future gout attacks.
This document discusses injury prevention in tennis athletes. It provides data on common tennis injuries, their causes, and recommendations for reducing risks. Some key points include:
- Tennis involves high physical demands that can lead to injuries if proper precautions aren't taken.
- Common injuries include shoulder issues like rotator cuff tears, elbow issues like tennis elbow, and knee/back pain.
- Injury risks can be reduced through proper warmups, stretching, strength training, technique, hydration, nutrition, and avoiding overuse or fatigue.
- Specific recommendations include dynamic warmups, rotator cuff exercises, stretching chest and shoulders daily, and addressing biomechanical flaws or muscle imbalances.
The document discusses how the French Revolution was precipitated by the centralization of wealth and power among the few, which led to vast inequality and oppression of the poorer classes. It draws parallels between the economic conditions prior to the French Revolution and trends in the late 19th/early 20th century of monopolization by wealthy corporations and unions, increasing the power of the few over the many and sowing the seeds of social unrest. Bible prophecies are presented as having foretold these events.
This document discusses how the French Revolution fulfilled Bible prophecy about the two witnesses being killed and lying dead for three and a half days in Revelation 11. It provides historical context about France banning the Bible in 1793 and the reign of terror that followed. During this time, atheism and licentiousness spread as the testimony of God's witnesses was silenced. However, the Bible was then tolerated again in France after three and a half years, just as the prophecy foretold. The document examines various events of the French Revolution through the lens of different Bible prophecies.
This document discusses biblical prophecies related to the two witnesses and the beast from the bottomless pit. It suggests that the two witnesses represent the Old and New Testaments, and that their 1,260 day prophecy period ended in 1798. At this time, the papal power fulfilled the role of the beast from the bottomless pit by oppressing the Scriptures. The document explores various biblical passages to support identifying the papacy with the beast from the bottomless pit and linking its rise to divine judgment for not accepting biblical truth.
The document discusses several Bible passages from Ezekiel that describe Ezekiel's vision of God's likeness appearing as fire from the waist down and brightness from the waist up. It provides the text of these passages from several Bible translations. It also includes commentary distinguishing between the literal translation and other translations that use terms like "figure" or "form" instead of "likeness".
The church in Laodicea was complacent and thought they needed nothing, but Jesus saw they were wretched, poor, blind, and naked. Jesus calls on them to buy from him true treasure, righteousness, and knowledge through repentance. He stands at the door and knocks, hoping they will hear his call to turn away from their self-deluded ways and toward him in zealous faith.
The document discusses the four compartments of the Hebrew sanctuary: 1) the encampment, 2) the courtyard, 3) the holy place, and 4) the most holy place or ark of the covenant. It provides descriptions of each area from Bible passages and explains their symbolism, such as the courtyard representing reconciliation between God and man. Personal applications are given, like how the seven golden candlesticks represent how Christians should shine forth Christ's light. The overall message is about sanctification and glorification through understanding Jesus' work in the heavenly sanctuary.
The document discusses the importance of health and following the eight natural laws for physical and spiritual well-being. It notes that poor health habits like lack of exercise, poor diet, and substance abuse can lead to disease and death, just as breaking moral laws can lead to spiritual death. Committing fully to obeying God's health laws is necessary to receive blessings of health, as it is to obey His moral laws and receive salvation. Health reform is meant to prepare God's people for translation and the time of trouble.
Lord Palmerston, the premier of England, was petitioned by Scottish clergy to appoint a day of prayer and fasting to prevent a cholera outbreak. However, Lord Palmerston replied that the clergy should focus on sanitation measures like cleaning streets and houses, promoting public health, and ensuring good nutrition for the poor. These preventive measures, he argued, would eliminate the need for fasting and prayer, as God would not listen to prayers when basic preventive steps were ignored.
Cholesterol can come from both exogenous (dietary) and endogenous (produced by the liver) sources. Dietary cholesterol is found in foods like eggs and animal fats, while the liver produces cholesterol endogenously. Oxidized cholesterol is especially harmful and can damage blood vessels. High levels of homocysteine in the blood can also damage blood vessels and increase heart disease risk. Homocysteine levels are affected by nutrients like folate, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12. Caffeine intake should be limited as it can raise blood pressure and homocysteine.
The document discusses the biblical parable of the ten virgins from Matthew 25:1-13. It provides commentary on various aspects of the parable from the writings of Ellen White. Key points include:
- The parable applies to Adventists in the last days as they await Christ's second coming.
- The lamps represent the Word of God, while the oil represents the Holy Spirit.
- The wise virgins study the scriptures intensely and receive the Holy Spirit, while the foolish neglect studying the Bible and do not receive the Holy Spirit.
- At the midnight cry, when Christ returns, the foolish virgins realize they are unprepared without the Holy Spirit.
The document discusses the effects of sugar consumption on health. It notes that sugar intake has risen significantly since the 1900s with the advent of food processing. Several studies are cited showing links between higher sugar intake and adverse health outcomes like cardiovascular disease and diabetes. High blood sugar is noted to aid cancer growth by providing extra energy for cancer cells, increasing insulin and acidity, and impairing the immune system. Maintaining a diet low in added sugars and refined carbohydrates is recommended for optimal health.
William Miller was a Baptist preacher who, through intensive study of the Bible, concluded that Jesus Christ would return to earth between 1843 and 1844. He began preaching this and gained many followers known as Millerites. When Christ did not return on the predicted dates, it caused the Great Disappointment and the Millerite movement dissolved. Some Millerites went on to form the Seventh Day Adventist Church, believing in the imminent second coming of Christ and observance of the Sabbath on Saturday. Ellen White emerged as an influential leader through her prophetic visions which helped shape Seventh Day Adventist beliefs and practices around health, education, and missions.
The document provides information about the ten plagues of Egypt in Exodus and compares them to the seven last plagues described in Revelation. It summarizes key points about the plagues, including who or what was affected by each plague, biblical references, and short explanations. It also addresses questions about God's mercy during the plagues, who will be protected, and the need to prepare one's heart before Christ's return.
Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth and the ability of cells to invade other tissues. Normal cells grow and divide in an orderly way, while cancer cells continue growing and dividing instead of dying. Cancer develops due to damaged DNA that is not repaired. Lifestyle factors like tobacco use, pollution, diet, obesity, and ultraviolet radiation exposure can damage DNA and increase cancer risk. Antioxidants from fruits and vegetables help neutralize free radicals that damage cells. Exercise, nutrition, and staying at a healthy weight can help prevent cancer development. Cancer treatments include chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, but prevention through lifestyle is most effective.
This document discusses the health benefits of a plant-based diet and the risks associated with animal product consumption. It provides several studies that show vegetarians and vegans have lower rates of chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity. Cancer risks are higher with diets high in fat, meat and dairy. Plant foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes contain antioxidants and other beneficial compounds that protect against disease initiation and promotion.
This document discusses Ellen White's warnings about the "alpha" and "omega" of dangers facing the faith, with the "alpha" being represented by Dr. Kellogg's book Living Temple and theories in 1904. She warned that a "omega" would follow with a more startling nature. It provides historical context for Kellogg promoting pantheistic views and unsound policies, with White providing counsel and warnings. The nature of Christ and sin are also discussed, with the importance of not departing from the faith or teachings of the Bible.
The document summarizes the fulfillment of the 6th trumpet judgment as described in Revelation 9:13-19. It describes how in 1449 the Ottoman Empire gained control of Constantinople, marking the end of the 150 years of torment on the Greeks and the loosing of the four angels. The four angels represented the four principal sultanates of the Ottoman Empire located along the Euphrates River that were previously restrained but became unleashed to conquer the territories of the Eastern Roman Empire. The document provides historical context and quotes from sources identifying the armies of the Ottoman Empire under Mehmed II that conquered Constantinople in 1453, fulfilling the prophecy.
The document summarizes the fulfillment of the 7 trumpets, focusing on the 5th trumpet. It describes how the fall of the Persian king Chosroes opened the way for the rise of Islam under Muhammad. After Chosroes' defeat, there was anarchy in Persia for 8 years, allowing the Arabian caliphs to conquer Persia. It then discusses how the invading Islamic armies that arose from the "bottomless pit" or wilderness of Arabia had power like scorpions for 150 "prophetic years" to torment the Roman-Byzantine world from the 7th-13th centuries AD. Their cavalry armies spread rapidly like locusts or horsemen prepared for battle, darkening
The document discusses the events surrounding the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD and the rise of papal power that followed. It provides historical context on:
1) Odoacer deposing the last Western Roman emperor in 476 AD, traditionally marking the end of the Western Roman Empire. This created a power vacuum and divided the territory among 10 kingdoms.
2) The conversion of Clovis, King of the Franks, to Catholicism in 496 AD. This alliance between the Franks and the Catholic Church supported the rise of papal authority.
3) The removal of 3 Arian kingdoms - the Heruli in 493 AD, the Vandals in 534 AD,
Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.
8 Surprising Reasons To Meditate 40 Minutes A Day That Can Change Your Life.pptxHolistified Wellness
We’re talking about Vedic Meditation, a form of meditation that has been around for at least 5,000 years. Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.

3. Joint
inflammation is
characterized
by
redness,
warmth,
swelling, and
pain within the
joint.
4. ARTHRITIS
• An estimated 40 million Americans
suffer from some form of arthritis.
• There are over a hundred different
types of arthritic joint pain but the most
common are:
• osteoarthritis (OA),
• rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and
• gout.
5. SED RATE, OR
ERYTHROCYTE SEDIMENTATION RATE
(ESR)
Sedimentation rate test measures
inflammation in the blood.
The normal sedimentation rate
(Westergren method):
• Males: 0-15 millimeters per hour
• Females: 0-20 millimeters per hour
7. WHAT IS
OSTEOARTHRITIS?
• Deterioration (wear and tear) of the
cartilage that cushions the ends of
bones
• It affects mostly those 45 years and
older though it can occur at an earlier
age
• Women are more affected than men
8. CARTILAGE
• a firm tissue that
covers the ends
of bones in
normal joints
• reduces friction
in the joints and
serve as a
"shock absorber"
12. HIGH-RISK SITUATIONS
• Doing anything that damages the joints
• Sports that have a high rate of injury
• Jobs that require repetitive motion
(bending the knees to install flooring)
• Obesity (affects knees and hips)
13. SYMPTOMS OF
OSTEOARTHRITIS
• Pain, stiffness, soreness in affected
joints especially with movement
• Pain after overuse of joint
• Pain after long periods of inactivity
• Morning sickness
14. SYMPTOMS OF
OSTEOARTHRITIS
• Bony enlargements in the middle and
end joints of the fingers (which may or
may not be painful)
• Swelling around the joint, pain and
tenderness, restricted joint movement
• Enlarged distorted finger joints,
crackling noise of affected joint
15. CAUSES OF
OSTEOARTHRITIS
• Inadequate blood supply to the joints for
proper functioning (OA)
• Age related changes (OA, RA)
• A genetic predisposition (OA, RA)
• Injury to joints (OA)
• Severe loss of cartilage to the knee
joints (OA)
• Overweight (OA, Gout)
16. CAUSES OF
OSTEOARTHRITIS
• Overwork or underwork (OA)
• Bony overgrowths (OA)
• Direct joint injury with local inflammation
(OA)
• Repeated injury or damage to joint (OA)
• Degenerative cartilage (OA)
18. WHAT IS RHEUMATOID
ARTHRITIS?
• A form of arthritis in which the body’s
immune system attacks the lining of
the joints.
• When the synovial membrane is
inflamed, it becomes swollen, enlarged,
soft and spongy and fluid builds up in
the joint. This causes the joint to
become stiff and the cartilage wears
away.
27. WHAT IS GOUT?
• Gout is a metabolic disorder in which
uric acid builds up in the blood and
forms crystals in the joints and other
places especially the big toe.
• Uric acid comes from a breakdown of
purines a type of protein that occurs
naturally in the body as well as in a
number of foods.
28. WHAT IS GOUT?
• Purines are then converted to uric acid
in the blood for excretion by the kidneys
in the urine.
• Excessive levels of uric acid in the
blood due to overproduction or
inadequate elimination or both result in
the formation of uric acid crystals that
are deposited in the tissues and joints,
thus it becomes irritated and swollen.
29. GOUT
• Gout has long been associated with
diet, particularly overindulgence in
meat, seafood and alcohol.
• Moderate intake of purine-rich
vegetables or protein is not associated
with an increased risk of gout.
30. WHO ARE AFFECTED?
Mainly men, with first attack starting
between 40 and 50 years of age.
31. SYMPTOMS OF GOUT
• Painful big toe
• Stiff, swollen, deformed joints (Gout,
RA)
• Decreased urine (Gout)
• Itching or peeling of affected skin (Gout)
32. CAUSES OF GOUT
• Consuming excessive amounts of food
that is rich in purines when broken down
(Gout)
• Increased uric acid in the blood (Gout)
• Kidney damage (Gout)
• Alcoholic beverages (Gout)
34. HOW TO TURN OFF THE
FAUCET?
ARTHRITIS LIFESTYLE
• Sleep – go to bed at least before 10:00 pm
nightly. Sleep on a firm mattress.
• Improve circulation of the blood to the
joints by lowering the amount of fat in the
bloodstream.
• Exercise to increase blood supply to the
joints:
walk 1 hour daily
35. HOW TO TURN OFF THE
FAUCET?
ARTHRITIS LIFESTYLE
• Swimming can also maintain joint flexibility.
• Breathe deeply in the open air to aid with
blood circulation.
• Keep your weight down to avoid
aggravating the joints.
36. HOW TO TURN OFF THE
FAUCET?
ARTHRITIS LIFESTYLE
• Reduce stress and keep a cheerful spirit.
• Avoid high heels as they tilt the pelvis and
put more pressure on the weight-bearing
joints.
• Refrain from overexerting the affected
joints.
• Keep the body evenly warm at night to
reduce joint stiffness in the morning. Keep
37. HOW TO TURN OFF THE
FAUCET?
HYDROTHERAPY
• Apply dry heat to the affected area to
reduce the pain (OA)
• Heat pack to affected area and a gentle
massage (RA)
• Exercise in a tub of water if pain is too
great on joints otherwise.
• Use hot and cold contrast baths to
affected area to improve blood flow – 6
minutes hot and 4 minutes cold.
38. UNPLUGGING THE SINK
ARTHRITIS DIET
• Eat a low-fat, high-fiber diet to improve
circulation
• Eat fresh fruits
• Cut out all flesh foods (including fish,
chicken, meat, pork and all
crustaceans) as well as its byproduct
(eggs, cheese, milk, etc.)
39. UNPLUGGING THE SINK
ARTHRITIS DIET
• Eliminate ALL white bread, pasta, flour,
- use whole wheat/grain items; e.g.
brown rice, whole wheat/grain pasta
and flour
• Avoid excessive salt, paprika, tobacco,
caffeine
• Eliminate fried foods and highly
processed foods
• Eliminate all free oils while cooking
40. UNPLUGGING THE SINK
ARTHRITIS DIET
• Used moderately: avocado, coconut, and
nuts as high fat will overwork the liver and
interfere with blood circulation
• Avoided foods from the solanaceae or
“nightshade” family until arthritic symptoms
subside (tomatoes, potatoes, all peppers
and eggplant)
• Do not use iron supplements, get your iron
from natural sources such as molasses
41. UNPLUGGING THE SINK
ARTHRITIS DIET
• All meals should be eaten on a regular
schedule, 7 days a week, with no more
than a 30 minutes difference in the
schedule. Meals should be eaten 5-6
hours apart.
• At least 8 glasses (64 oz) of water should
be drunk each day, 16-32 oz of warm
water before breakfast. Water should be
taken 15-30 minutes before meals or 2
hours after meals. Drink water until urine
is pale yellow.
42. UNPLUGGING THE SINK
OSTEOARTHRITIS DIET
• Foods to increase to prevent or stop the
development of osteoarthritis are:
• Almonds, cabbages, cauliflower,
potatoes, celery, oranges and molasses,
legumes, whole grains, brown rice,

asparagus, garlic and onions help repair
bone, cartilage and aid in the absorption
of calcium.
• Bananas, fresh pineapple, sour cherries
are excellent in reducing inflammation.
44. UNPLUGGING THE SINK
RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS DIET
• Avoid all meat and animal products,
alcoholic beverages, milk, eggs, food
additives as these worsens the disease
and aggravates the inflammation of the
joints.
• Avoid dairy products and eggs, will
increase certain immune protein antigens
that destroys the cartilage.
45. UNPLUGGING THE SINK

46. UNPLUGGING THE SINK
GOUT DIET
• Increase the consumption of raw fruits
and vegetables, whole grain, legumes,
and nuts
(avoid the use of soy as it is a high
producer of uric acid and the excessive
amount of uric acid in the body can make
it difficult for the kidneys to eliminate it).
47. UNPLUGGING THE SINK
GOUT DIET
• Fruits and vegetables to increase: lemon,
grapefruit, oranges, cherries,
strawberries, grapes, apple, cauliflower,
green beans, turnips, leeks, and celery.
