This document provides an overview of Baroque and Rococo art between the 17th-18th centuries in Europe. It discusses the political and religious context during this period and profiles many prominent artists including Bernini, Caravaggio, Artemisia Gentileschi, Velazquez, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and others. Their works reflected the dramatic and theatrical qualities of the Baroque style as well as the refined Rococo style that emerged later. Patronage came from the Catholic Church promoting the Counter-Reformation as well as wealthy urban classes and royal courts across Europe.
