** I will make sure diversity is displayed
in my Art Center by making sure I
introduce a variety of materials. Each
material will have a different property
and will teach a specific skill. Diversity
and variety can both be introduced by
colors, texture, thin chalk, thick chalk
etc. Younger toddlers will be offered at
least 3 different art materialsat some
time during week. Older toddlerswill
have access to more than 3 varied
materials on a weekly basis with
variation.(PAGE 38 ITERS-R)
MATERIALS SECOND
4. To begin it allows
children to practice important fine motor skills. Children can experiment
with shapes, lines, space, and the combination of colors. When doing art
children of course develop their own creative expression and ideas also. For
young children having art work that they can extend on is very beneficial
because it makes the child think back and think ahead, encouraging a longer
attention span. (7.3) 20 ART Handout
