Argumentative Essay Introduction
Paragraph
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Argumentative Essay Introduction Paragraph" can present a
unique set of challenges. First and foremost, the introduction paragraph serves as the gateway to
the entire essay, setting the tone, establishing the context, and outlining the argumentative
stance. This introductory segment requires careful consideration of the audience, the purpose of
the essay, and the overarching argumentative strategy.
One of the difficulties lies in striking the right balance between providing sufficient background
information to orient the reader without overwhelming them with excessive details. Moreover,
crafting a compelling thesis statement that succinctly encapsulates the main argument while
hinting at the broader significance of the topic can be a daunting task.
Additionally, ensuring coherence and logical progression within the introduction is crucial for
maintaining the reader's engagement and facilitating a smooth transition into the body
paragraphs. This necessitates meticulous planning and organization to seamlessly guide the
reader from the general introduction to the specific argumentative focus.
Furthermore, incorporating relevant hook techniques to captivate the reader's attention from the
outset poses another challenge. Whether employing a provocative question, an intriguing
anecdote, or a startling statistic, selecting an appropriate hook that resonates with the audience
and effectively foreshadows the ensuing argument demands creative finesse.
Overall, crafting a compelling introduction paragraph for an argumentative essay requires not
only a deep understanding of the topic but also proficiency in rhetorical strategies, persuasive
writing techniques, and structural coherence.

Funding, Interest Groups, Elections, and the Role Between State and Local
Governments in TexasThe state of Texas receives the majority of funding from two
sources; taxes and federal receipts. Currently, Texas is one of nine states that does
not levy a personal income tax on its residents and, in addition, its property tax
system is a function of local governments. This makes Texas somewhat unique, in
that, its state government largely relies on revenue generated from sales taxes and a
business tax. (Texas Public Policy Foundation, 2012) For ... Show more content on

An example of a special interest group would be the Texas chapter of the National
Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The mission of the NAACP
is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all
persons and to eliminate race based discrimination. (Our Mission, 2009 2012) The
objectives of the Texas chapter of the NAACP are as follows: to ensure political,
educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens, to achieve equality of
rights and eliminate race prejudice among citizens of the United States, to remove
all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes, to seek enactment
and enforcement of federal, state, and local laws securing civil rights, to inform
the public of racial discrimination and seek its elimination, and to educate persons
as to their constitutional rights and to take lawful action to secure the exercise
thereof. (Our Mission, 2009 2012) In contrast, an example of one of Texas public

Who Is Ethan Frome A Tragic Hero
The character Ethan Frome in the novella, Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton can be
classified as an archetypal tragic hero. Ethan is archetypal, as the issues which
confront him are universal. He draws on thoughts, feelings and concerns that have
been part of humanity since the start of mankind. Ethan is a tragic heroas he shares in
common, some of the characteristics required to be so. Two of these characteristics
include that he has a noble stature and that he succumbs to hamartia. While Ethan
Frome may not conform to a strict definition of tragic hero to be found in classical
literature, he is an archetypal tragic hero nonetheless. What is particularly tragic
about Ethan Frome, however, is that in order to be good, he has to be miserable.
One of the defining qualities of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethan is neither rich, nor politically powerful. He has neither high status, nor a
form of superiority greater than any other respectable member of his community.
However, Ethan Frome initially possesses a moral loftiness due to his adherence
to the values esteemed by his community. Ethan begins as a modern form of tragic
hero by living a life of duty, integrity and conformity. He is a protagonist who lacks
the traditional qualities of a hero and thus, is a modern anti hero. Thus, Ethan Frome
s noble stature is derived from his initial moral loftiness. Furthermore, some may
argue that Ethan is not a tragic hero because his hamartia is not due to a traditional
shortcoming such as hubris. Ethan does not suffer from excessive pride, but rather
is supremely humble. However, Ethan does suffer a tragic fall. In forsaking the
values of his community, and putting his own needs ahead of others, he is left more
trapped and miserable than before. While Ethan s tragic flaw is defying the code of
his community, it nonetheless leads to his downfall leaving him in tragic
Examples Of During Childhood Ignorance Is Bliss
During childhood, ignorance is bliss
What is it about a child that makes truth a fluid, flexible thing?
When I was a kid, I was lied to. A lot. I believed anything, I was impressionable and,
honestly speaking, my mind resembled Play Doh easily molded by whoever got
their hands on it. Was I weak in character? Was I an introvert passively living a life
of deceit? Maybe but that s irrelevant.
I did this, you did this, and I m sure that random person you saw cycling next to your
car this morning, did this. We ate it up. Teachers, parents, the seventh graders who
conquered the rear of the bus these were all sources of authority that we never
intended to question.
Why yes, there were monsters in our closets. Christopher Columbus was an
adventuresome, completely wholesome man who had the courage to discover a new
world. And Santa Claus, he was a jolly old man with a white beard filled with secrets
and magic.
I once asked my grade 1 teacher why she would tell us lies particularly about
colonialism. Until I hit puberty, I was taught no, I earnestly believed that Columbus
was a hero, a role model. He might have worn quaint pants that ballooned like a
skirt, but the bottom line is, he crossed an ocean with a mere three ships and opened
the door to the other half of the world.

they can see lucid flashes of art and the resounding echoes of ecstasy in completely

the most beloved contemporary violinists of present day, to play his violin in a drab

Rise Of The Taliban
The Taliban is one of the most notorious militant Sunni Islamic political groups in
the world. The majority of people have heard the name Taliban before. It is a name
that carries hate, confusion, and love depending on the person. However, many don t
understand what the Taliban is and how it came about. Some just consider them a
radical terrorist group and some see them as a historic change in government. This
paper is going to explain: who the Talibanare, why they do what they do, and how
they came about.

The First Phase Of The Second World War
Throughout the first phase of the Second World War in Europe, Germany sought
to avoid a long war. Its strategy was to win a decisive victory over their opponents
with a series of short campaigns. Germany quickly took control of most of Europe
and was victorious for more than two years with the Blitzkrieg (lightning war).
This new military tactics required the concentration of a powerful set of offensive
forces (tanks, aircrafts and artillery) on a narrow front. By practicing a breach in
the enemy defenses, these forces allowed the armored divisions to quickly
penetrate and maneuver freely behind enemy lines, disrupting their defenses. The
German Air Force prevented the enemy to resupply, to redeploy its forces
efficiently and to send reinforcements to close the breaches that occurred in his
front. The German forces were thus able to encircle the enemy and force him to
surrender. In June 1941, the German forces invaded the Soviet Union. The
blitzkrieg seemed at first to be a success. Soviet forces retreated over 900 km to the
gates of Moscow, suffering huge losses. However, it was on the Soviet territory that
the blitzkrieg showed its limits. In this context, the amelioration of the allied forces
readiness after the two first years of the war, and the vulnerability of the blitzkrieg
to logistics and qualified manpower, reduced greatly its success after 1941. The
adaptation of new defensive tactics by the allies has greatly contributed to the failure
of the blitzkrieg.
The Freedom Of Speech, And Gun Ownership Rights
There are a few hot topics that are running around the political world such as
homosexual rights, freedom of speech, and gun ownership rights. The Democratic
Party is seen to be liberal political party. Looking on my views I do believe to see
myself as a more democratic thinker even though there are a few things that do line
up with the republican side. With all three of these topics that we are talking about it
really makes me realize what all the ups and the dons are with each of these topics.
Gun ownership rights that democrats believe in is the individual s right to bear arms.
The Democratic views on gun control are centered around the belief that the right to
own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation (Understanding). This amendment is
an important part of the American tradition and also preserves the Americans second
amendment. We believe that the right to own firearms is up to have some regulations
behind the laws but also should be left up to the american people. In recent history it
shows how awful gun violence can be and the devastating effects it can have on
people. The Democratic party needs to focus on effective enforcement of existing
laws, especially strengthening our background check system. Another thing that we
can do is work together to enact commonsense improvements (OnTheIssues). These
commonsense improvements can include reinstating the assault weapons ban and
closing the gun show loophole. The democratic party wants to protect Americans

The Four Types Of Organic Molecules
An organic molecule is a molecule that must have Carbon and Hydrogen. They are
important because they act as a backbone for all living matter. Without Carbon and
Hydrogen, life would not exist. A monomer is one subunit or building block of a
larger molecule. The four types of organic molecules are carbohydrates, lipids,
proteins, and nucleic acids.
Carbohydrates have two functions which is, provides short term energy and
structure in some organisms. They have an atomic makeup of Carbon, Hydrogen,
and Oxygen, with a 2:1 ratio of Hydrogen to Oxygen. The monomer is a
monosaccharide which contains a single sugar. A couple examples of this would be
glucose, fructose, and deoxyribose which is found in DNA. Yet, foods with this
monomer in it would be mostly fruits, candy, and soda. Carbohydrates also have a
polysaccharide which is a polymer made of many monosaccharides strung together.
Some examples of these are starch, glycogen, cellulose, and chitin. A starch is
storage from glucose in plants(potatoes, pasta, waffles, and toast). Glycogen is
storage from glucose in animals. Cellous is structure in plants (cell wall). Chitin is
structure in animals (exoskeleton). Proteins have two main functions as well, but
which is, build a cell or body structure and control all cell and body functions.
Examples of cell or body structure is hair, muscle, bone, tendons, and skin. Examples
of proteins controlling cell and body functions are motion, support, metabolism,
transport, defence, and
What Is The Difference Between The Wizard Of Oz Book
And Book
The adaptation of the text, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum that I
watched was the movie The Wizard of Oz filmed in 1939. The three components
that were different were the way it ended, the violence included, and why the
characters were lacking. In the book the way it ends makes the audience think that
OZ is a real place that does exist. There were books that came after this book which
involved Dorothy living in the land of Oz. However, in the movie Dorothy wakes up
from a nap at the end; indicating the whole experience was a dream. Another
difference was that the movie didn t describe how each character became how
they were. The book describes how the Scarecrow was made because the munchkin
forgot to give him a brain. The Tinman doesn t have a heart because he was made
up by a tinsmith after getting cut up, but forgot to be made with a heart. The lion
was just born to be cowardly. The last difference is there was much more violence
described in the book than in the movie. In the book it was explained that the
tinman was cut to pieces by an axe and that is why he is now made out of tin. The
violence contributes to the story being interpreted in a different way because if
someone were to watch the movie they would think it is a light hearted story meant
for fun. However, I think it is apparent that the book was darker and included more
intense topics, including topics of love and being cut up which is why the characters
need to see OZ. Also, reading the
Violence In Elie Wiesel s Night
Violence, a word that has one meaning but when one might read the word a
thousand meanings come to mind. Violence is a strong word that many are too
petrified to really speak or think about. Elie Wiesel concurred his fear of violence
and wrote a breathtaking novel called Night . Violence is not always physical, it
could be emotional and mental also. Such meanings are so different but so alike.
Violence was used all throughout Night it was used as entertainment for the
German soldiers, it was used to send a message, and also it was used to simply kill
off Jews. They were forced to dig huge trenches. When they had finished their work,
the men from the Gestapo began theirs. Without passion or haste, they shot their

not even as animals would be treated. The Germans were treating them like complete
garbage. Again, no words can describe the horrifying event.
Germans were certain to get the job done; killing Jews was only the first step.
Emotional violence was one of many steps. Germans drilled terrifying images in the
prisoner s heads, it was easier to intimidate them so that most of the prisoners would
not fight back. Elie was devastated the first few nights he had arrived. Never shall I
forget that night. The first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven

Mean Girls Movie Essay
In the movie Mean Girls (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEQV2OJVBx4),
there is a scene where the Plastics all go to visit Regina George s house (Regina is
the Queen Bee of the Plastics). In this scene we meet Regina s mom who greets
the girls like they are all friends, she then proceeds to tell the girls that there are no
rules in the house. This is apparent when we then see how Regina speaks to her
mother, and how she treats others throughout the duration of the movie. The way
Regina s mom runs the George household falls under a very specific type of
parenting style called Permissive Indulgent. This parenting style is described as
parents setting very few limits and being very emotionally involved. This description
fits Regina s mom perfectly, she flat out says there... Show more content on

Regina is exactly like this. In this scene you hear the way Regina and her mother
speak to each other. Regina s mom tries to talk to her like they are friends and
Regina just says please stop talking and all her mother does is say ok and then
offers to bring them a hump day treat . Regina obviously has no respect for her
mother. Another example of Regina having no respect happens when the girls go
up to Regina s room. Cady comments on the size of Regina s bedroom and Regina
says it was my parents room but I made them trade me. Regina is completely out of
control and disrespectful, this is all because of her mother s parenting style. When
a parent is trying to be a friend instead of being in charge things will go wrong.
Regina s mom s parenting style can often get confused with Permissive Neglectful.
In this case the parent also has very few demands or rules like in Permissive
Indulgent but in this case the parent does not care or show little to no interest in the
child. This is clearly not Regina s mom because even though she has no rules she
still cares about Regina and her
Cork Game Strategy
On January 19, Mr. Courtney s students would take a classroom game to the next
level. We usually play the the game where you spell a word or try and shoot a cork
at a target. That game changed to just shooting the cork, but trying to find the best
way to shoot it. We were posed with the question, what is the best way to configure
your hand and rubber band to shoot the cork at a target eight feet away. There were
few materials needed to conduct this experiment. All we used was, a cork, rubber
band, and a target. The cork was two inches high. The rubber band was three inches
long without being stretched. Last the target was about six feet above the ground.
All these materials were constants. This makes the experiment less complex. The
only variable would be how each person shot the cork. The next day everyone in the
class was put into groups and we were all told to just practice shooting the cork
without collecting any data. After that we all compared the best configurations we
used within our own groups. Each group... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does Billy Pilgrim Have Time Travel
Time Traveling is all in Billy s mind and he has no control over this
From reading slaughterhouse five by Kurt Vonnegut, and studying its context, I have
come to the hypothesis that Billy Pilgrim never actually travelled in time and that he
had no control over what is going on inside his head .His time travels were simply
memories mixed with fictional events all mixed together and regurgitated out in an
order way which doesn t represent a normal time continuum. It is clear that in the
book Billy does appear to time travel but I think that this is not physical and all in
fact in his mind, due to the plane crash along with other trauma he has experienced
in his life. There is varying opinions as to what actually happened, did Billy really
time travel or was it all in his head, It appears most people don t take Billy Pilgrims

The Philosophy Of The Religion Of Buddhism
Religion essay In many religions they are similar principles and philosophy that
we live by. The philosophy of the religion of Buddhism, is to live is to suffer. Often
people ask what is the meaning of life? and different religions find a way to
interpret the answer to this question in their own way. For example, the Christianity
religion often answers this questions by saying that we are here on earth to help
those in need and to do Gods will. Others questions may be how can I live my life,
so that I would be free of suffering? and this is where the Buddhismreligion comes in.
As part of this religion, the Buddhas find a way to stop or lessen the suffering of
one, by following very simple laws, principles, or simply by following suggestions.
However, it is not mandatory to follow these alternatives, therefore if you wish to
not follow them, then you don t have too although its would be in your benefit too.
To live is to suffer in a Buddhist point of view is the idea of the inevitable suffering,
that no matter who you are, in your life you will experience suffering. Suffering is
depicted in the religion itself by the origins of their founder Siddhartha Gautama,
through their principles, and lastly through any other general aspects of the religion
of Buddhism. Firstly, what does the term Buddha really mean? A man once asked the
Buddha Not who are you but what are you and the Buddha answer, I am awake
meaning that he is awake, aware of everything (insight). The
Analysis of the Coronation of Napoleon
The Coronation that Shook the World The Coronation of Napoleon by Jacques
Louis David is imposing in its dimensions. It stands at twenty feet by thirty feet and
is displayed in the main gallery of the Louvre museum in Paris. David began this
work of art after being orally commissioned by Napoleon in September of 1804. The
painting came to its completion November of 1807. The sole fact that the painting
took three years to complete demonstrates something about the magnitude and scale
of the painting. This was all done on purpose of course in order to record this

The Importance Of Summer In The Summer
Summer days are anticipated year round; there are always kids or even parents that
are dreading the last school days, and just waiting to go to the beach or sit in the air
conditioning and watch a movie. Summer has always been highly anticipated in my
life, and not for reasons like most people. In my life, summers do not mean
relaxation and going to the beach. Although I am not making a sandcastle in the sand,
I get to playin a different kind of soil: dirt. Softball is a gamethat requires players to
get dirty, whether that means sticking the glove in the dirt to field the ground ball
or sliding because there is close play at the base. One summer in particular, I didn t
only get dirty on the field, but my whole life got a whole lot messier. The biggest
lessons I have learned in my life have not been taught in the classroom, but rather, I
have learned new things everyday from my experiences; some of which produce
greater lessons than others.
The sun drifted slowly over the horizon bringing a new day. I could smell the fresh
air and saw the dew droplets on each flake of grass as I strolled by them. It was
another new day perfectly designed by our creator. It was a Saturday morning in
the middle of summer, and just like every other weekend in the summer, I was
playing the game I loved. Softball has always been my favorite sport, and one of the
things that takes up a lot of my time, especially in the summer. It was just another
weekend, the same as countless before it and many
Paragraph On Holiness Of God
Holiness
The word holy, holy, holy, shows up twice in the Old Testament Isaiah 6:3 and once
in the New Testament Revelation 4: 8. These phrase in both time is spoken about a
heavenly creatures and both times it shows up in a vision of a man was transported
to God s throne. Firstly by prophet Isaiah and secondly by apostle John. (The Bible
says that God is holy, holy , holy. Not that He is merely holy or even holy, holy. Page
40, The Holiness Of God)
The holiness of God is very difficult attribute of God to explain. This important
quality is not shared inborn by man. God created us in His image we can share
from his qualities to a much lesser extent like His faithfulness, love and mercy, etc.
Some of His qualities such as omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience cannot be
share with any beings. We can t inherent Holinesses it comes through our
relationship with God. We can only become righteous through God. Holiness is
the fundamental measure in God s life and letting his life flow through us. In other
for us to get the glorious divine calling in Christ, God s people are slowly prepared
along the way. This pattern is often occurring in our lives this is a need for us to
separate from our sins and turn towards the way of God.
Isaiah experienced the holiness of God in his vision in Isaiah 6. Isaiah was righteous
man and a prophet of God, his response to the holiness of God was to be ware his
despair of life and his sinfulness
The Extracellular Matrix of Multi-Cellular Animals
The extracellular matrix (ECM) is a feature of all multi cellular animals . It is a
complex network of proteins secreted locally by cells via exocytosisalberts. The
protein components that form the ECM include proteoglycans, glycoproteins such as
fibronectin and fibres such as collagen. In addition a family of five matricellular
proteins called thrombospondins are present.
All cells are in close contact with the ECM either continuously or at important phases
of their development27. The ECM provides a physical environment in which a cell
exists. It supplies the substrate for cell anchorage, wound repair and for transmitting
environmental signals which affects the proliferation, differentiation and survival of
a cell 1.
Even though the assembly of ECM proteins into the highly organized functional
matrix is known to be absolutely vital for the survival and normal development of
animals it is still not fully understood5. Continued understanding of this dynamic
structure is needed due to the important role the ECM plays in the normal
development and function of tissues, homeostasis, wound repair and regeneration in
multi cellular organisms. Therefore among the many ECM protein components that
interact, the formation of collagen networks is pertinent to this study.
The collagens are arguably the most dominant protein in the ECM. The collagens
represent a large heterogeneous family of ECM glycoproteins which contain at least
one triple helical domain collagen family. All
The Ability Of Capturing A Picture
The Goal
The ability of capturing a picture cinematically has always fascinated me and since a
young age I have developed an immense interest in photography. As time went by I
loved to evolve my photography skills by purchasing new cameras, trying different
angles and implementing new effects. I pursued every opportunity that aroused
where I was able to develop my photography skills. I was heavily influenced and
inspired of photography during grade 9, when I was able to learn the professional
features of photography by learning advanced techniques. However, when I looked
back at my pictures I felt that my pictures had lacked an essential quality to them.
That s when I noticed that my pictures didn t have a feel and sensation to truly ...

I chose to focus on Human Ingenuity for my topic because photography greatly
revolves around one s creativity to produce beautiful images and human ingenuity is
the act of exploring production of human creativity. Human ingenuity can be
classified into different features and categories however, in regards to photography I
found that the feature of enjoying and improving quality to human life was very
suitable to my topic. Pictures allow people to observe and cherish their surroundings
in the form of a still image. A single picture can bring back many memories and
create many thoughts and feelings for the viewer. In order to achieve the viewer s
satisfaction I attempted to take pictures that will bring the viewer s mind to peace,
and allow them to enjoy every moment that the picture is seen.
The inquiry question that I chose for the personal project was How to take a
cinematic picture with a DSLR . I chose this questions as it portrays a photographer
s creativity and overall relates to Human Ingenuity. This is not a simple question as
it takes many steps to learn cinematic photography and to execute a cinematic image.
Human Ingenuity is easily seen in my question as taking a picture and viewing the
set is one s creative process and creativity plays a big role in Human Ingenuity.
Photography is more than simply clicking a button and waiting for the shutter to

The Role Of The Mausoleum In Islamic Art

What is the role of the Mausoleum in Islamic art? Islamic art is any artwork that
embraces Islamic theme, mostly created and produced in areas where Islam is the
most dominant religion. However, unlike Christian, Buddhist, and Jewish art that is
made purely for religious purposes, Islamic art serves both for religious and
decorative purposes. Then, because of its intricate designs, the art is known all over
the world for its beauty and detail. For instance, the Taj Mahal is one of the most
famous products of Islamic Art. It was created as a royal mausoleum and is located
in Agra, India (Wolper 920). Thus, the present paper argues that, apart from serving
religious purposes, the mausoleum Islamic art was also used ... Show more content on

To give an example, Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal, which is the most
famous Islamic mausoleum for funeral purposes, as a tribute to his wife, Mumtaz
Mahal, who had passed on after delivering the couple s last child (Kumar 5). Mahal
was buried in the tomb and later on, when the Emperor died; he was buried in the
same place alongside his wife. Therefore, in Islamic art, one of the most important
purposes of the mausoleum was for the preservation of bodies of important people
based on the belief of life after death. The belief was that the bodies of the dead
would wait for judgment at the mausoleum where they were buried after their souls
had been extracted by the angel of death. Moreover, another mausoleum that was
constructed for entombment purposes is the Al Askari Mosque that was
constructed in Samarra area of Iraq for the burial of the leader Sardab of Caliph al
Mahdi who lived between r. 775 785 (Nielsen 52). The mausoleum resembles a
mosque and was built with a golden dome to show its importance as one of the most
significant Islamic shrines. In Egypt, the mausoleums were referred to as mashhads
and they were devoted to the burial of religious
National Debt
From the moment they become old enough to be aware that money is limited, young
people today are taught to avoid getting into debt. Horror stories of payment defaults,
exorbitant interest rates, and ruined credit are passed from generation to generation,
and along with it, sentiments of disgust and panic toward the large and seemingly
never decreasing number that is the national debt of the United Statesof America. Yet,
it cannot be said that all debt is bad; student loans taken as an investment in the
future, or a mortgage on a house there are plenty of examples of how deficit
spending can be a valuable practice, and the first Secretary of the Treasury was a
strong proponent of that view when it came to government spending.

The largest debt holders (entities to which the federal government owes money) of the
public debt are foreign governments and investors (about $6 trillion), the US Federal
Reserve ($2.5 trillion), various mutual funds (about $1 trillion), and state or local
governments ($800 billion) [7]. The remaining one third of the debt is classified as
intragovernmental holdings, which are accumulated when the Treasury borrows from
trust funds financing specific government programs for use in the general budget [6].
For example, the Social Security ran a surplus while the baby boomers were in their
working prime and tax revenue was high, so the government has historically been able
to borrow from the Social Security and Disability Trust Funds to pay for other
expenditures [8]. As a result, Social Security is the single largest stakeholder in the
national debt holding securities worth $2.8 trillion. Other government accounts that

Crime Social Policy
Crime Data and Social Policy
At the beginning of the second chapter, it is described how the statistics of a crime
provide a summary of the whole criminal activity. An accurate statistical picture of a
crime benefits the creation of a social policy. In a national level, the collection of
crime statistics come from two major sources, Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR)
Program and National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS). The Uniform Crime
Reporting (UCR) Program produces an annual overview of major crime in the
United States. It is also known as the UCR/NIBRS Program. On the other hand, the

This survey is based up on victim self reports rather the police reports. It is also
designed to estimate the occurrence of all crimes, whether it was reported or not.
The NCVS system started functioning in the year of 1972. The UCR/NIBRS and
NCVS differ in that the UCR/NIBRS Programs make use of data obtained by citizens
reports of crime made to enforcement agencies, while the NCVS utilizes survey data.
A similarity between these two is that they both contain data their creators think is
appropriate.
Special Categories of Crime
The crime typology is a classification used to study and describe of criminal behavior
such as legal category, offender motivation, victim behavior, and characteristics of
individual offenders. Special categories of crime include: crimes against women,
crime against the elderly, hate crime, corporate and white collar crime, organized
crime, gun crime, drug crime, high technology and computer crime, terrorism
(domestic international, cyber) and crime in international context: unlawful activities
that occur across national boundaries such as human trafficking and money

If an infection or an inflammation is present, the providers will have to develop a
treatment plan. The treatment plan may include non surgical therapy, possible
antibiotics, shortening recare intervals, and a referral for a specialist evaluation.
Current protocol for probing around the implant has been somewhat controversial but
the consensus seems to be that it is safe to probe the implant without disrupting the
perimucosal seal. An experienced practitioner should be able to probe dental implants
without continual perforation of the weak seal. Inflammation is a critical factor that
determines whether an intervention will be required. Although many etiological
factors exist, the most common cause of inflammation around dental implants is
excess cement that was not removed during crown cementation. Cement may create
inflammation even after dormant for many months. Merticulous attempts to remove
excess cement need to be practiced. Another source of the peri implant inflammation

Sumerian s Influence On The Pyramids Of Ancient Egypt
Many people recognize the pyramids of Egypt as some of the greatest treasures of the
old world. But most people don t wonder where the ancient Egyptians got the idea
from. There were many cultures and civilizations before Egypt that could ve
influenced the idea of massive pyramids, but most think that one civilization in
particular, the Sumerians, had the most influence on the pyramids that stand today,
because of their pyramidlike ziggurats. The Egyptians probably did base the pyramids
off of the Sumerian ziggurats, because they had the same basic structure, the ancient
Sumerians had lots of influence on Egyptat the time, and they both displayed the
same symbols and meanings for their people. Everyone knows what the pyramids

They were also influenced by Sumerian religion and the purpose of the Sumerian
ziggurats. While using the idea of the physical structure of a ziggurat, the Egyptians
also used it for their gods. Although the pyramid was used as a tomb and the
ziggurat was used as a temple; both dealt with their gods and the afterlife. As I.E.S
Edwards wrote, Pyramids were built for several kings and queens of the subsequent
dynasties, but they were in the nature of archaisms, lacking not only much of the
architectural splendour of their predecessors, but also some of their religious
significance. (Edwards, 16). No other culture influence the Egyptians more than the
Sumerians. They even re invented the Sumerian s writing system into hieroglyphics

of foreign invaders) have led, in my view, to undue neglect of the nature of the
influence of Susa and Sumer upon Upper Egypt and Lower Nubia in the Naqada IId
IIIb period. (www.egyptorigins.org). All of the evidence of Sumerian influence all
together point to the idea that the ancient pyramids were greatly influenced by the

How Did Thomas Paine Influence American Society
Thomas Paine was a man that was very influential for the America society. He was
a leader, and activist that made America the way to it is today. He was born in 1737
in England and was an excise officer until he met Benjamin Franklin in London. This
was during 1774, and Benjamin Franklin was one of the influences for Thomas Paine
emigrating to the Americas or the colonies at the time. He was the right man at the
right time because he expressed and used his public speaking skills. He gave
Americans a sense of rebellion at a time that it need to be demonstrated. His most

Abstract: This research paper includes several studies on the effects of children s
learning when incorporating technology into their lives. Overall, the studies
mentioned can make technology be viewed as an aid or a hinder on a child s cognitive
development.
For some people the advances of technology in today s world can be viewed as a
negative or a positive in a persons life. But what about the technological advances
and the effects they have on a child s life? For this paper, research was done that
examines both sides of technology and the positive or negative consequences ... Show

There is also some up sides to technology for children, for example according to
Psychology Today research shows that, video games and other screen media
improve visual spatial capabilities, increase attentional ability, reaction times, and
the capacity to identify details among clutter. There are plenty of video games that
incorporate learning into them and can be beneficial for a child because they can
make math, spelling, history, or whatever other subjects the child may be having
difficulty with, fun. There are so many different kinds of games that are geared,
especially towards children s learning that it almost seems more beneficial for a
child to play a learning game than to sit in front of the television. The problem
with this lies in the notion that most children are not playing educational games or
watching educational television. Instead, they are drawn to social media
platforms or random websites with little to no educational benefits. Some of the
downsides of technology are that children are not getting as much exercise and
fresh air as they were ten or more years ago. According to the BBC, Children aged
five to sixteen spend an average of six and a half hours a day in front of a screen
compared with around three hours in 1995, according to market research firm

Persuasive Essay On Older Adults
In today s society, the older adults are often left behind and forgotten about. Society
is often less concerned about this population when they should be more concerned.
As discussed above, as some transition into later life, it is almost like they are
entering a new world that they must readjust to. They have to get comfortable in
their new living environment, sometimes without their spouse and with fewer
friends and family members around. As a society, if we don t start monitoring this
population, the high rates will continue to rise and more older adults will continue
to self harm which will lead to a huge social justice matter. In order to advocate for
this population, we must first educate those who are not aware. I think it would be
beneficial to start small programs or fairs throughout different communities where
families can be educated on exactly what to look for and how they can care more for
their older adultfamily members. In order to make this possible, resources are need.
Educators, physicians and social workers can all come together to provide the
necessary curriculum to those being educated. Certain policies should also be in
place that will prevent the misuse of prescription drugs. Instead of quickly responding
to chronic painwith medicine, maybe other things should be in place such as physical
therapy or natural herbs, to help those individuals work through their pain. As older
adults visit health care more often, physicians should take time for screening

10 Things I Hate About You Chick Flick Analysis
A Chick Flick as broadly agreed upon is the kind of films that mostly appeal to a
female audience. Even the name itself is a bit offensive. It implies that films
having female characters are appealing just to women spectators, and films with
men, as protagonists are more commonly considered as widespread, while those
who have bunches of ladies in them are so called Chick Flicks , and in this way, a
corner shallow kind. Most of the time these films convey the point that ladies live
happily ever after when they get the chance to discover intimate romance. Other
Chick Flicks introduce a solid female protagonist but, as the film advances the hero
needs to change herself of to adjust to her end goal to observe affection, to be
recognized by her adoration intrigue, or to fit into her partner s life. Most commonly
the female protagonist is a stunningly beautiful woman, who likewise happens to be
blonde rather than a brunette, youthful, white and thin. Yet she needs to have a
blemish, which would make her more human and in this way, more relatable to lots
of people. 10 Things I Hate About Youis likely the most clear illustration. However
she definitely must be physically dazzling like all the female characters in the film,
with a specific end goal to keep the present magnificence ongoing.

These returns are put with a copy of the original item and sent to the mailing

mail to go to the Post Office at the end of the day. Some of our business customers
have requested that they receive a fax of the return as soon as it is processed so that
they may take the appropriate actions on their end. The biggest part of my job was
answering all the customer phone calls. At any point in the day, a customer might call
to ask about their account. I answer the phone and assist the customer with anything
they need. Customers usually want to know their current balance or if a check has
entered their account yet, but sometimes they want to know about the last few
transactions so I go over those and give them the information they are requesting.
Many of the same customers call frequently so I began recognizing their voices and
they started referring to me as the man in bookkeeping since the other Bookkeeping
employees are women. Personally, I think that knowing the customers and their needs
helps to maintain the home town banking that WCB is well known for around our
community and the surrounding areas. I enjoy speaking with and assisting our
customers, many of them I see and know personally around the town. It is nice to
establish these connections
Bending Moment Lab Report
Applied mechanics laboratory report Measurement of bending moment and shear

background 1.1 Summary That performed laboratory session on bending moments
and shear forces requires good understanding and sufficient knowledge of axial
forces. Bending is defined as a behavior of any structural element that undergoes the
external load, which is applied perpendicularly to longitudinal axis. That experiment
helps us to find the maximum load that can be applied to the beam with rectangular
cross section. Moments are calculated by using statics theory, or multiplying
perpendicularly directed load by the respective distance to the pivot point. 1.2
Objective The main objective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thar resulted in the maximum bending moment occurred. Moment was calculated in
the same manner as in the previous example with only the difference in direction
for positive moment. ∑MR1(left)= ∑MR1(right) ; R1*0.2 P2*0.34=(R2
P3)*0.24; The resultant bending moment was found to be maximum at the point
where shear forces are minimal and thus equals to approximately +0.3856 N.m
Regarding the moment about the cut, here our group was able to find the minimum
difference between the measured and calculated values applying the same formulas
and assumptions. The resultant moment was calculated to be 0.225N.m , which is
approximately 3% difference and thus can be neglected. It is clear from the
bending moment diagram that there is a point except ends where bending moment
equals to zero. Such a point have a different of bending moment on its two sides
(left and right) is known as a point of contra flexture. It can be easily found by using
moment equation about that point and equate it to zero. Taking that reference point
as X , we obtain: ∑MX(left)= ∑MX(right); 5.26*(X 0.14) = 1.962*X Thus the
point of contra flexture for those specific loads equals 0.223m or 223mm from P1

Importance Of Formative Assessment
3.1Discussion
To understand better the achievements of this research we find it important to refresh
our mind with what we know about formative assessment and summative assessment.
Gipps (1994) defines formative assessment as the assessment that boosts the use of
assessing feedback to advance teaching and learning while encouraging curriculum
planning. As for summative assessment, Earl, L. (2004), defines it as the assessment
which is frequently used to give grades and marks to learners for academic and
administrative decisions .
3.1.1 From Assumption 1 to 3:
To come back to the achievements of this research, hypothesis 1 revealed that the
trainers under study do assess their learners in order to identify what they have learnt,
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also what the trainer does for the present learners to have the expected behavior!
Formative assessment gives room to corrections, training adaptation in order to meet
the learners needs. How do we explain the trainers failure to exploit what looks like
a formative assessment? Is it not a proof of trainers ignorance of assessment rules?
Certainly, it was not wrong to use the information deriving from the current training
for further improvements, but improvements, if any, should start with the present
participants. Indeed, we did not find it too professional to ignore the present learners
by failing to give them a feedback on their learning, but rather using their feedback for
the benefit of future learners. Black, P. William (1999) insists on the fact that
summative assessment implies the provision of effective feedback to learners, the
active involvement of learners in their own learning, the adjustment of teaching to
take assessment results into account. What was hidden behind this non exploitation
of formative assessment? Was it not a mark of ignorance in the use of formative
assessment?
Conclusion:
To end completely with this point, for us formative assessment should be fully used
throughout the whole training session in order to remedy possible weaknesses and
insufficiencies of the training. Thus, the learners
The Problem Of West Mendham

order to fulfil one s own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous when a casting
body of authority decides to turn a blind eye because they perceive the benefits to
outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town decision makers of West
Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by short termgains and thus fail to see
the long term effect of the agreement made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say
development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is.
However, with development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West
Mendham is willing to undertake in order to achieve short term economic gains.
Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear
understanding of the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a floodwall. The
construction of the wall will have both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless,
the immediate advantage of the wall will be to protect the inland side of the wall
from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West Mendham
where space is limited. In an event of a flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable
mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be
limited. These are of course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its
construction.
However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and

Brain
No Longer Gage: A Glimpse into Sociability, Temperament and the Brain
For over a century, the case of Phineas Gage has intrigued everyone interested in the
functioning and malfunctioning of the brain. Recently, Gage s brain has been
thoroughly examined and the damaged area has been more exactly pinpointed. The
solving of the Phineas Gage case, however, has served only to raise more questions,
particularly those concerning morality, judgment, and the internal sense of self. If the
mechanisms responsible for these markers of human sociability and temperament are
simply functions of the nervous system, where, exactly, are they located? What do
they do when they are functioning? What do they do when they are malfunctioning?

Although Dr. Harlow reasoned that the damage was done to the frontal lobes of
Gage s brain, nineteenth century science had a hard time accepting the notion that
a dollop of gray jelly could govern something so transcendent as social behavior .
The exact location of the trauma was found recently (1994) during examinations of
Gage s skull using photography, x rays and 3 D computer modeling. These have
shown that the regions of the frontal lobes essential for intellectual, motor and
language function, the motor strip and Broca s area, were left intact. The lower
middle portions of both frontal lobes, however, were damaged. More specifically,
the ventromedial region of the frontal lobe was destroyed, particularly on the left
side. This localized damage seems to have been responsible for the temperamental
and behavioral alterations. The process of an individual s education and maturation
can be seen as the establishment of plans of actions and responses that are influenced
by basic drives, but...achieved through socially acceptable means. (Particular frontal
areas) may be the structures in which most such patterns of behavior are inscribed and

individuals and make their life simpler and their movement more beneficial, however
there has showed up an issue of the machine compulsion or reliance, particularly
among the youngsters. Computers are advantageous gadgets that a considerable lot
of us utilize every day. Computers plays vital role of our lives, permitting us to

Organizations can spam your inbox. Programmers can take your cash. There are
trackers and infections that can log each key you write including passwords.
Individual data can be spilled into the obscure domain of the web. Furthermore
individuals can get to be fixated. In any case, this is all most likely down to the
individual utilizing the machine. There is no mixing up that the web and machines

Loneliness In Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse-Five
Kurt Vonnegut s novel Slaughterhouse Five illustrates the struggles of war and
peace, the loneliness that comes from alienation, and the apathy that follows war.
Vonnegut s experiences and struggles of the war in Dresden provoke him the write
about his awful experiences. Billy Pilgrim is a master of disguise. He serves as a
superb mask at Vonnegut hides behind in order to get his message across to the
reader without scaring them away with boring lectures. Vonnegut also uses Billy, the
protagonist of the story, to show what he experienced in his past. The ideas of

Pilgrim is incapable to attach to reality and is continually separated from actuality.
When he becomes unstuck in time it prevents him from creating the sets of
experiences and events in his life that can allow him to interact and from relationships
with the world (Cox 264). Billy suffers from this issue because he is actually traveling
through time, which hinders him from letting himself create certain relationships and
memories that normal people obtain. It also acts as a metaphor for the sense of
alienation and dislocation that follows his experiences of ghastly events
(Vanderwerken 151). His most imminent relationship is with the science fiction writer
Kilgore Trout, another profoundly alienated character (Cox 264). Another reason
that Billy is relatively distant is because he could be deeply affected by the horrific
events from his Dresden experience, similar to Vonnegut. What also bothered Billy
was that his only clear memories of his parents are demonstrative and it left him
neglected in his youth, later carrying on into his present day

Social Security Is The Most Popular Government Program
What Is Social Security?
Social Security is the most popular government program and touches the life of
every worker in America, but most people know little or nothing about how it
operates. The following discussion explains what Social Security is and how it
operates.
Social Security s Major Programs.
While most discussions focus only on Social Security s retirement program, Social
Security actually consists of three major programs, all of which are administered by
the Social Security Administration. Specifically:
Retirement.Social Security s retirement program provides a lifetime monthly income
for qualified workers once they reach their full retirement age. Depending on when
they were born, that age ranges from 65 to 67. The amount of retirement benefits
that a worker receives depends on his or her income while working. Workers also
have the option of receiving a lower monthly income starting at age 62.
Survivors. Social Security s survivors program provides a monthly lifetime income
to the surviving spouse of a deceased worker once he or she reaches retirement age.
The amount of the monthly benefit depends on both spouses income while they
were working. The survivors program also pays benefits to children under the age
of 18 and the surviving spouse caring for them. Unless they are disabled, children s
benefits end when the last child either reaches age 18 or graduates from high school,
whichever is later.
Disability. Social Security also pays lifetime
Multiracial Identity in Essays by Julia Alvarez and Danzy...
Multiracial Identity in Essays by Julia Alvarez and Danzy Senna
The essays of Julia Alvarez and Danzy Senna address issues of multiracial identity
important in their younger years as they grew up daughters of a multiethnic and
multiracial background. Despite the slight generational differences, the same issues
are as important today as they were twenty or thirty years ago. The concept of one
being multiracial is a relatively new concept. In the past, a person with a mixed racial
background could not reasonably claim a mixed heritage openly, one had to identify
with one or the either. Those that could not do that usually found themselves isolated
from either background. This is made apparent in American literature through ...

Yet, this new embracement of multicultural is due more to commercial manipulation
rather than an increasing acceptance of the evolving racial equation. One example is
the popularity of Latin music. In the last past two years, the popularity of Latin
music has exploded and along with it, the careers of people like Ricky Martin,
Christina Aguilera, and Enrique Inglesias. Some of these people claim a mixed racial
heritage and accordingly, it seems apparent that a more tolerant and even accepting
time in history has come for those of a mixed heritage. Indeed, many entertainers now
come to fame based in part on having a mixed racial heritage. However, Latin music
has been around for many years and its emergence in the mainstream is unlikely to be
due to a more liberal attitude towards multicultural, multiethnic themes. The recent,
newly found popularity demonstrates more of a realization that companies can
exploit multiracialism for a profit. Commercialism exploits and co opts the theme of
multiculturalism in the name of profit. It glamorizes people who reveal their
multicultural or multiracial background and makes them look exotic. However, it is
imperative to understand, that these motives are not high minded. It is simply for
profit and record sales, that corporations have encouraged outlets for multicultural
and multiracial diversity. Senna notes in her
American Citizens Should Be Required To Vote
Many people feel that voting is important and most people feel like it s only right
to do your part in choosing your leader. In the US we are not forced to vote
however some feel we should be. Now in the 1820s in america the only group of
people that can vote was white men who owned land. As times changed other
groups got the chance to vote and participate in choosing our leader which is in
fact a big deal. In my personal opinion I don t think we should be required to vote
because no matter what it is us as U.S. citizen should always have a choice. Okay,
so the first reason I feel we shouldn t be required to vote is because the younger age
citizens aren t really in tune with what s going on in the political world. Document B.

Persuasive Speech On The Duck
I have a superstition, or phobia, called Anatidaephobia. In other words, it s the fear
a duck is always watching you. To most, this may seem like a joke, or some sort of
satirical story, but it is no laughing matter. The duck starts as a funny prank that is
being played on you, or maybe just part of your imagination. You see it in your
dreams; in the background, behind the action. It just sits there, watching. You don t
notice it until you start looking. At that point, you can t make it go away. It s funny
at first, that your brain would do this. After all, why would you see a duck. Soon a
realization comes that it isn t going away. It just sits there, plotting something, in your
mind, the mind you deemed safe. You begin to loath sleep for... Show more content

Willy Foil
Death of a Salesman Questions
One comes to know Willy over several key points in the play. One especially
revealing point is in the beginning of the play he comes home from work and
contradicts himself to no end, when talking about Biff he says Biff is a lazy bum!
then later going on to contradict himself saying There s one thing about Biff he s not
lazy later in the same dialogue. This shows that Willy is unstable in his thoughts and
not in the right mind.
Uncle Charley is the foil to Willy in the way Charley always set realistic goals and
was very truthful to himself while Willy was always telling himself he was the
best and he could do anything he wanted to which was not realistic. To Biff
Bernard is his foil due to the fact in high school Bernard focused on his school
work and becomes a successful and didn t rely on his popularity to gain success but
his education. Contrast to Bernard Biff was focused on being popular and a football

Sartre s Views On The Moral Choices
Jean Paul Sartre is a French philosopher who makes his claims based on a
combination of two philosophical traditions existentialism and phenomenology.
Sartre himself is an atheistic existentialist. He summarizes his claims regarding
existentialism with three words anguish, abandonment, and despair (25). In this
paper, I will talk about Sartre s definition of existentialism, its relation to essence,
Sartre s views on the moral choices and how they relate to art.
Sartre makes the claim that all humans start at the same place. He says we are all
thrown into the world without any preset values/moral attitudes. We come into this
world as a clean slate (tabula rasa) (22). Although we did not come into this world
by choice, the one thing we do come with is the freedom to decide who we want to
be and how we want to live our lives. In this sense, even prisoners are free. Being
physically captured doesn t mean being physically captured. You are free to
determine what your physical imprisonment means when you have the freedom to
decide what any circumstance means.
Sartre emphasizes the mantra of existentialism. His slogan is existence precedes
essence . Essence is what makes something what it is. According to Descartes, our
essence is our rational mind it makes us who we are. Sartre argues humans aren t
born with an essence they don t start with one. Humans start by simply existing. At
the beginning, there is no internal essence or human nature. Our essence is later

Joran Van Der Sloot Biography
A week after Holloway s disappearance, police arrested the last men seen with
Holloway: Joran Van der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe. In the
beginning, the stories of all three men matched. They stated that they all went to the
beach and eventually dropped Holloway back off at the Holiday Inn. However, this
claim was proven to be false after video tapes were reviewed showing that the Kalpoe
car never went to the hotel (Joran van der Sloot Biography, 2016).
The two Kalpoe brothers then changed their story and told authorities that Holloway
made them leave her and Joran van der Sloot at a fishermans hut on the beach
nearby. The brothers went on to say that they never heard from Natalee again (Joran
van der Sloot Biography, 2016).

men (Joran van der Sloot Biography, 2016).
Over the course of the investigation, several individuals were arrested and questioned.
The stories of the three main figures, the Kalpoe brothers and Joran van der Sloot,

Argumentative Essay Introduction Paragraph

  • 1. Argumentative Essay Introduction Paragraph Crafting an essay on the topic of "Argumentative Essay Introduction Paragraph" can present a unique set of challenges. First and foremost, the introduction paragraph serves as the gateway to the entire essay, setting the tone, establishing the context, and outlining the argumentative stance. This introductory segment requires careful consideration of the audience, the purpose of the essay, and the overarching argumentative strategy. One of the difficulties lies in striking the right balance between providing sufficient background information to orient the reader without overwhelming them with excessive details. Moreover, crafting a compelling thesis statement that succinctly encapsulates the main argument while hinting at the broader significance of the topic can be a daunting task. Additionally, ensuring coherence and logical progression within the introduction is crucial for maintaining the reader's engagement and facilitating a smooth transition into the body paragraphs. This necessitates meticulous planning and organization to seamlessly guide the reader from the general introduction to the specific argumentative focus. Furthermore, incorporating relevant hook techniques to captivate the reader's attention from the outset poses another challenge. Whether employing a provocative question, an intriguing anecdote, or a startling statistic, selecting an appropriate hook that resonates with the audience and effectively foreshadows the ensuing argument demands creative finesse. Overall, crafting a compelling introduction paragraph for an argumentative essay requires not only a deep understanding of the topic but also proficiency in rhetorical strategies, persuasive writing techniques, and structural coherence. Similar essays and a plethora of academic writing assistance can be readily accessed through platforms like HelpWriting.net, offering comprehensive support tailored to individual needs and requirements. • 2. Funding, Interest Groups, Elections, and the Role Between... Running Head: TEXAS GOVERNMENT Funding, Interest Groups, Elections, and the Role Between State and Local Governments in Texas Maurice Adams Mr. George Lyon POL215 University of Phoenix Funding, Interest Groups, Elections, and the Role Between State and Local Governments in TexasThe state of Texas receives the majority of funding from two sources; taxes and federal receipts. Currently, Texas is one of nine states that does not levy a personal income tax on its residents and, in addition, its property tax system is a function of local governments. This makes Texas somewhat unique, in that, its state government largely relies on revenue generated from sales taxes and a business tax. (Texas Public Policy Foundation, 2012) For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of a special interest group would be the Texas chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race based discrimination. (Our Mission, 2009 2012) The objectives of the Texas chapter of the NAACP are as follows: to ensure political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens, to achieve equality of rights and eliminate race prejudice among citizens of the United States, to remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes, to seek enactment and enforcement of federal, state, and local laws securing civil rights, to inform the public of racial discrimination and seek its elimination, and to educate persons as to their constitutional rights and to take lawful action to secure the exercise thereof. (Our Mission, 2009 2012) In contrast, an example of one of Texas public interest groups is the Texas Public Interest Research Group, or TexPIRG. TexPIRG describes itself as a consumer group that stands up to powerful interests whenever they threaten (Texans ) health or safety, (Texans ) financial security, or (Texans ) right to fully participate in a democratic society (About TexPIRG). Its mission is to take action when consumers are cheated or the voices of ordinary citizens are drowned
  • 3. Who Is Ethan Frome A Tragic Hero The character Ethan Frome in the novella, Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton can be classified as an archetypal tragic hero. Ethan is archetypal, as the issues which confront him are universal. He draws on thoughts, feelings and concerns that have been part of humanity since the start of mankind. Ethan is a tragic heroas he shares in common, some of the characteristics required to be so. Two of these characteristics include that he has a noble stature and that he succumbs to hamartia. While Ethan Frome may not conform to a strict definition of tragic hero to be found in classical literature, he is an archetypal tragic hero nonetheless. What is particularly tragic about Ethan Frome, however, is that in order to be good, he has to be miserable. One of the defining qualities of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethan is neither rich, nor politically powerful. He has neither high status, nor a form of superiority greater than any other respectable member of his community. However, Ethan Frome initially possesses a moral loftiness due to his adherence to the values esteemed by his community. Ethan begins as a modern form of tragic hero by living a life of duty, integrity and conformity. He is a protagonist who lacks the traditional qualities of a hero and thus, is a modern anti hero. Thus, Ethan Frome s noble stature is derived from his initial moral loftiness. Furthermore, some may argue that Ethan is not a tragic hero because his hamartia is not due to a traditional shortcoming such as hubris. Ethan does not suffer from excessive pride, but rather is supremely humble. However, Ethan does suffer a tragic fall. In forsaking the values of his community, and putting his own needs ahead of others, he is left more trapped and miserable than before. While Ethan s tragic flaw is defying the code of his community, it nonetheless leads to his downfall leaving him in tragic
  • 4. Examples Of During Childhood Ignorance Is Bliss During childhood, ignorance is bliss What is it about a child that makes truth a fluid, flexible thing? When I was a kid, I was lied to. A lot. I believed anything, I was impressionable and, honestly speaking, my mind resembled Play Doh easily molded by whoever got their hands on it. Was I weak in character? Was I an introvert passively living a life of deceit? Maybe but that s irrelevant. I did this, you did this, and I m sure that random person you saw cycling next to your car this morning, did this. We ate it up. Teachers, parents, the seventh graders who conquered the rear of the bus these were all sources of authority that we never intended to question. Why yes, there were monsters in our closets. Christopher Columbus was an adventuresome, completely wholesome man who had the courage to discover a new world. And Santa Claus, he was a jolly old man with a white beard filled with secrets and magic. I once asked my grade 1 teacher why she would tell us lies particularly about colonialism. Until I hit puberty, I was taught no, I earnestly believed that Columbus was a hero, a role model. He might have worn quaint pants that ballooned like a skirt, but the bottom line is, he crossed an ocean with a mere three ships and opened the door to the other half of the world. I thought the same of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the looney thing about kids is that they can notice beauty like no one else can; they can see lucid flashes of art and the resounding echoes of ecstasy in completely unassuming situations. Case in point: The Wall Street Journal performed a study about the perception of art in unsuspecting places. They hired Joshua Bell, one of the most beloved contemporary violinists of present day, to play his violin in a drab metro stop. During the entire afternoon, he made $32 but the only people to pause and stare and listen, even for a few moments, were children being impatiently pushed and pulled by their

Its strategy was to win a decisive victory over their opponents with a series of short campaigns. Germany quickly took control of most of Europe and was victorious for more than two years with the Blitzkrieg (lightning war). This new military tactics required the concentration of a powerful set of offensive forces (tanks, aircrafts and artillery) on a narrow front. By practicing a breach in the enemy defenses, these forces allowed the armored divisions to quickly penetrate and maneuver freely behind enemy lines, disrupting their defenses. The German Air Force prevented the enemy to resupply, to redeploy its forces efficiently and to send reinforcements to close the breaches that occurred in his front. The German forces were thus able to encircle the enemy and force him to surrender. In June 1941, the German forces invaded the Soviet Union. The blitzkrieg seemed at first to be a success. Soviet forces retreated over 900 km to the gates of Moscow, suffering huge losses. However, it was on the Soviet territory that the blitzkrieg showed its limits. In this context, the amelioration of the allied forces readiness after the two first years of the war, and the vulnerability of the blitzkrieg to logistics and qualified manpower, reduced greatly its success after 1941. The adaptation of new defensive tactics by the allies has greatly contributed to the failure of the blitzkrieg.
  • 9. The Freedom Of Speech, And Gun Ownership Rights There are a few hot topics that are running around the political world such as homosexual rights, freedom of speech, and gun ownership rights. The Democratic Party is seen to be liberal political party. Looking on my views I do believe to see myself as a more democratic thinker even though there are a few things that do line up with the republican side. With all three of these topics that we are talking about it really makes me realize what all the ups and the dons are with each of these topics. Gun ownership rights that democrats believe in is the individual s right to bear arms. The Democratic views on gun control are centered around the belief that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation (Understanding). This amendment is an important part of the American tradition and also preserves the Americans second amendment. We believe that the right to own firearms is up to have some regulations behind the laws but also should be left up to the american people. In recent history it shows how awful gun violence can be and the devastating effects it can have on people. The Democratic party needs to focus on effective enforcement of existing laws, especially strengthening our background check system. Another thing that we can do is work together to enact commonsense improvements (OnTheIssues). These commonsense improvements can include reinstating the assault weapons ban and closing the gun show loophole. The democratic party wants to protect Americans

  • 11. The Four Types Of Organic Molecules An organic molecule is a molecule that must have Carbon and Hydrogen. They are important because they act as a backbone for all living matter. Without Carbon and Hydrogen, life would not exist. A monomer is one subunit or building block of a larger molecule. The four types of organic molecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates have two functions which is, provides short term energy and structure in some organisms. They have an atomic makeup of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen, with a 2:1 ratio of Hydrogen to Oxygen. The monomer is a monosaccharide which contains a single sugar. A couple examples of this would be glucose, fructose, and deoxyribose which is found in DNA. Yet, foods with this monomer in it would be mostly fruits, candy, and soda. Carbohydrates also have a polysaccharide which is a polymer made of many monosaccharides strung together. Some examples of these are starch, glycogen, cellulose, and chitin. A starch is storage from glucose in plants(potatoes, pasta, waffles, and toast). Glycogen is storage from glucose in animals. Cellous is structure in plants (cell wall). Chitin is structure in animals (exoskeleton). Proteins have two main functions as well, but which is, build a cell or body structure and control all cell and body functions. Examples of cell or body structure is hair, muscle, bone, tendons, and skin. Examples of proteins controlling cell and body functions are motion, support, metabolism, transport, defence, and
  • 12. What Is The Difference Between The Wizard Of Oz Book And Book The adaptation of the text, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum that I watched was the movie The Wizard of Oz filmed in 1939. The three components that were different were the way it ended, the violence included, and why the characters were lacking. In the book the way it ends makes the audience think that OZ is a real place that does exist. There were books that came after this book which involved Dorothy living in the land of Oz. However, in the movie Dorothy wakes up from a nap at the end; indicating the whole experience was a dream. Another difference was that the movie didn t describe how each character became how they were. The book describes how the Scarecrow was made because the munchkin forgot to give him a brain. The Tinman doesn t have a heart because he was made up by a tinsmith after getting cut up, but forgot to be made with a heart. The lion was just born to be cowardly. The last difference is there was much more violence described in the book than in the movie. In the book it was explained that the tinman was cut to pieces by an axe and that is why he is now made out of tin. The violence contributes to the story being interpreted in a different way because if someone were to watch the movie they would think it is a light hearted story meant for fun. However, I think it is apparent that the book was darker and included more intense topics, including topics of love and being cut up which is why the characters need to see OZ. Also, reading the

Violence is a strong word that many are too petrified to really speak or think about. Elie Wiesel concurred his fear of violence and wrote a breathtaking novel called Night . Violence is not always physical, it could be emotional and mental also. Such meanings are so different but so alike. Violence was used all throughout Night it was used as entertainment for the German soldiers, it was used to send a message, and also it was used to simply kill off Jews. This is apparent when we then see how Regina speaks to her mother, and how she treats others throughout the duration of the movie. The way Regina s mom runs the George household falls under a very specific type of parenting style called Permissive Indulgent. This parenting style is described as parents setting very few limits and being very emotionally involved. This description fits Regina s mom perfectly, she flat out says there... Regina s mom tries to talk to her like they are friends and Regina just says please stop talking and all her mother does is say ok and then offers to bring them a hump day treat . Regina obviously has no respect for her mother. Another example of Regina having no respect happens when the girls go up to Regina s room. Cady comments on the size of Regina s bedroom and Regina says it was my parents room but I made them trade me. Regina is completely out of control and disrespectful, this is all because of her mother s parenting style. When a parent is trying to be a friend instead of being in charge things will go wrong. Regina s mom s parenting style can often get confused with Permissive Neglectful. In this case the parent also has very few demands or rules like in Permissive Indulgent but in this case the parent does not care or show little to no interest in the child. This is clearly not Regina s mom because even though she has no rules she still cares about Regina and her

We were posed with the question, what is the best way to configure your hand and rubber band to shoot the cork at a target eight feet away. There were few materials needed to conduct this experiment. All we used was, a cork, rubber band, and a target. The cork was two inches high. The rubber band was three inches long without being stretched. Last the target was about six feet above the ground. All these materials were constants. This makes the experiment less complex. The only variable would be how each person shot the cork. The philosophy of the religion of Buddhism, is to live is to suffer. Often people ask what is the meaning of life? and different religions find a way to interpret the answer to this question in their own way. For example, the Christianity religion often answers this questions by saying that we are here on earth to help those in need and to do Gods will. Others questions may be how can I live my life, so that I would be free of suffering? and this is where the Buddhismreligion comes in. As part of this religion, the Buddhas find a way to stop or lessen the suffering of one, by following very simple laws, principles, or simply by following suggestions. • 24. The Extracellular Matrix of Multi-Cellular Animals The extracellular matrix (ECM) is a feature of all multi cellular animals . It is a complex network of proteins secreted locally by cells via exocytosisalberts. The protein components that form the ECM include proteoglycans, glycoproteins such as fibronectin and fibres such as collagen. In addition a family of five matricellular proteins called thrombospondins are present. All cells are in close contact with the ECM either continuously or at important phases of their development27. The ECM provides a physical environment in which a cell exists. It supplies the substrate for cell anchorage, wound repair and for transmitting environmental signals which affects the proliferation, differentiation and survival of a cell 1. Even though the assembly of ECM proteins into the highly organized functional matrix is known to be absolutely vital for the survival and normal development of animals it is still not fully understood5. Continued understanding of this dynamic structure is needed due to the important role the ECM plays in the normal development and function of tissues, homeostasis, wound repair and regeneration in multi cellular organisms. Therefore among the many ECM protein components that interact, the formation of collagen networks is pertinent to this study. The collagens are arguably the most dominant protein in the ECM. The collagens represent a large heterogeneous family of ECM glycoproteins which contain at least one triple helical domain collagen family. All

Therefore, in Islamic art, one of the most important purposes of the mausoleum was for the preservation of bodies of important people based on the belief of life after death. An experienced practitioner should be able to probe dental implants without continual perforation of the weak seal. Inflammation is a critical factor that determines whether an intervention will be required. Although many etiological factors exist, the most common cause of inflammation around dental implants is excess cement that was not removed during crown cementation. Cement may create inflammation even after dormant for many months. Merticulous attempts to remove excess cement need to be practiced. Another source of the peri implant inflammation is ill fitting supra structures. Signs of a healthy

But most people don t wonder where the ancient Egyptians got the idea from. There were many cultures and civilizations before Egypt that could ve influenced the idea of massive pyramids, but most think that one civilization in particular, the Sumerians, had the most influence on the pyramids that stand today, because of their pyramidlike ziggurats. As I.E.S Edwards wrote, Pyramids were built for several kings and queens of the subsequent dynasties, but they were in the nature of archaisms, lacking not only much of the architectural splendour of their predecessors, but also some of their religious significance. There are so many different kinds of games that are geared, especially towards children s learning that it almost seems more beneficial for a child to play a learning game than to sit in front of the television. The problem with this lies in the notion that most children are not playing educational games or watching educational television. Instead, they are drawn to social media platforms or random websites with little to no educational benefits. Some of the downsides of technology are that children are not getting as much exercise and fresh air as they were ten or more years ago. Society is often less concerned about this population when they should be more concerned. As discussed above, as some transition into later life, it is almost like they are entering a new world that they must readjust to. They have to get comfortable in their new living environment, sometimes without their spouse and with fewer friends and family members around. As a society, if we don t start monitoring this population, the high rates will continue to rise and more older adults will continue to self harm which will lead to a huge social justice matter. In order to advocate for this population, we must first educate those who are not aware. In order to make this possible, resources are need. Educators, physicians and social workers can all come together to provide the necessary curriculum to those being educated. Bending is defined as a behavior of any structural element that undergoes the external load, which is applied perpendicularly to longitudinal axis. That experiment helps us to find the maximum load that can be applied to the beam with rectangular cross section. Moments are calculated by using statics theory, or multiplying perpendicularly directed load by the respective distance to the pivot point. 1.2 Objective The main objective... Moment was calculated in the same manner as in the previous example with only the difference in direction for positive moment. ∑MR1(left)= ∑MR1(right) ; R1*0.2 P2*0.34=(R2 P3)*0.24; The resultant bending moment was found to be maximum at the point where shear forces are minimal and thus equals to approximately +0.3856 N.m Regarding the moment about the cut, here our group was able to find the minimum difference between the measured and calculated values applying the same formulas and assumptions. The resultant moment was calculated to be 0.225N.m , which is approximately 3% difference and thus can be neglected. It is clear from the bending moment diagram that there is a point except ends where bending moment equals to zero. Such a point have a different of bending moment on its two sides (left and right) is known as a point of contra flexture. It can be easily found by using moment equation about that point and equate it to zero. Taking that reference point as X , we obtain: ∑MX(left)= ∑MX(right); 5.26*(X 0.14) = 1.962*X Thus the point of contra flexture for those specific loads equals 0.223m or 223mm from P1 Figure 7. Importance Of Formative Assessment 3.1Discussion To understand better the achievements of this research we find it important to refresh our mind with what we know about formative assessment and summative assessment. Gipps (1994) defines formative assessment as the assessment that boosts the use of assessing feedback to advance teaching and learning while encouraging curriculum planning. As for summative assessment, Earl, L. (2004), defines it as the assessment which is frequently used to give grades and marks to learners for academic and administrative decisions . 3.1.1 From Assumption 1 to 3: To come back to the achievements of this research, hypothesis 1 revealed that the trainers under study do assess their learners in order to identify what they have learnt, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also what the trainer does for the present learners to have the expected behavior! Formative assessment gives room to corrections, training adaptation in order to meet the learners needs. How do we explain the trainers failure to exploit what looks like a formative assessment? Is it not a proof of trainers ignorance of assessment rules? Certainly, it was not wrong to use the information deriving from the current training for further improvements, but improvements, if any, should start with the present participants. Indeed, we did not find it too professional to ignore the present learners by failing to give them a feedback on their learning, but rather using their feedback for the benefit of future learners. Black, P. William (1999) insists on the fact that summative assessment implies the provision of effective feedback to learners, the active involvement of learners in their own learning, the adjustment of teaching to take assessment results into account. What was hidden behind this non exploitation of formative assessment? Was it not a mark of ignorance in the use of formative assessment? Conclusion: To end completely with this point, for us formative assessment should be fully used throughout the whole training session in order to remedy possible weaknesses and insufficiencies of the training. Thus, the learners

Some of these people claim a mixed racial heritage and accordingly, it seems apparent that a more tolerant and even accepting time in history has come for those of a mixed heritage. Indeed, many entertainers now come to fame based in part on having a mixed racial heritage. • 52. Willy Foil Death of a Salesman Questions One comes to know Willy over several key points in the play. One especially revealing point is in the beginning of the play he comes home from work and contradicts himself to no end, when talking about Biff he says Biff is a lazy bum! then later going on to contradict himself saying There s one thing about Biff he s not lazy later in the same dialogue. This shows that Willy is unstable in his thoughts and not in the right mind. Uncle Charley is the foil to Willy in the way Charley always set realistic goals and was very truthful to himself while Willy was always telling himself he was the best and he could do anything he wanted to which was not realistic. To Biff Bernard is his foil due to the fact in high school Bernard focused on his school work and becomes a successful and didn t rely on his popularity to gain success but his education. Sartre himself is an atheistic existentialist. He summarizes his claims regarding existentialism with three words anguish, abandonment, and despair (25). In this paper, I will talk about Sartre s definition of existentialism, its relation to essence, Sartre s views on the moral choices and how they relate to art. Sartre makes the claim that all humans start at the same place. He says we are all thrown into the world without any preset values/moral attitudes. We come into this world as a clean slate (tabula rasa) (22). Although we did not come into this world by choice, the one thing we do come with is the freedom to decide who we want to be and how we want to live our lives. In this sense, even prisoners are free. Being physically captured doesn t mean being physically captured. You are free to determine what your physical imprisonment means when you have the freedom to decide what any circumstance means. Sartre emphasizes the mantra of existentialism. His slogan is existence precedes essence . Essence is what makes something what it is. According to Descartes, our essence is our rational mind it makes us who we are. Sartre argues humans aren t born with an essence they don t start with one. Humans start by simply existing. At the beginning, there is no internal essence or human nature. Our essence is later defined by

The two Kalpoe brothers then changed their story and told authorities that Holloway made them leave her and Joran van der Sloot at a fishermans hut on the beach nearby.
