Jaques s Perspective in As You Like It
A cynic s cynic might declare Jaques no better than the guy who lurks in corners at
a cocktail party, lobbing witty barbs at anyone unlucky enough to catch his eye. But
this assessment robs Shakespeare s comedy of its sociological depth; what might be
pleasant fluff about young people in love is enhanced by Jaques s ability to make stern
judgments about the world, yet still respect the people who comprise it.
Indeed, Jaques observes astutely from the sidelines. He separates himself from what
he considers the frivolity of making suitable marriage matches. But Jaques s
speeches are not merely Shakespeare s devices for explication. There is a
psychological middle ground ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He finds delight in the carefree demeanor of Touchstone and makes several
references to his own desire to own a motley coat. But Jaques sees more in the
personae of fools than silliness, and herein lies his nobility.
He quotes Touchstone s ruminations about time, And so from hour to hour we
ripe, and ripe/And then from hour to hour we rot, and rot (II.7 26 27) and then
amends Touchstone s observation when he discusses the seven stages of man s life.
In summing up human experience with the play metaphor, Jaques brings everyone
into the fold: rich and poor, city and country folk, noblemen and serfs. Jaques
speaks out for the meek in his speech about taxation: What woman in the city do I
name/When that I say the city woman bears/The cost of princes on unworthy
shoulders? (II.7 74 76). Though Jaques himself is not poor, he can see beyond his
own perspective and find worth in people of all economic and class spheres.
The compassionate yet comic aspect of Jaques appears in the lines he and Orlando
exchange in the forest. Jaques jokes, Let s meet as little as we can (III.2 250) and
Orlando retorts, I do desire we may be better strangers (251). There is a natural
affinity between the two; Jaques enjoys Orlando s company. As they part, Jaques
remarks, Will you sit down with me and we two will rail against our mistress the
world, and all our
3. Santiago s Unlucky
The Old Man and the Sea is a fictional story written by Ernest Hemingway about an
elderly Cuban fisherman named Santiago, who ventures out to sea to catch fish to
sell in the city of Havana. The story takes place after the eighty four day unlucky
streak that the old man had not catching fish and being looked down upon by many
of the younger fishermen in his village, referring to him as salao, which was the
worst form of unlucky. Despite this quickly gained reputation by the younger
fishermen in the village, a young boy from the village named Manolin, who
Santiago had taught to fish when he was very young, remained loyal to him and
continued to greet Santiago each day after returning from fishing, and also helped
him carry his gear and sail back to his hut each night. Manolin used to fish with
Santiago, but after forty days of not catching fish, Manolin was ordered by his
parents to fish on another boat in the village, which was regarded as a lucky boat.
However, Manolin continued to help Santiago with various duties, such as catching
bait, bringing him food, and looking over him each night. In fact, Manolin was so
loyal to Santiago that he offered to defy his parent s orders and fish with Santiago
again, in order to help him end his unlucky streak. But Santiago refused his help and
told him to remain on the current boat... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ernest Hemingway s The Old Man and the Sea takes place in and around Cuba. The
love of baseball began to grow in Cuba during the late 1800s, and by the time of the
action in The Old Man and the Sea, baseball had become a national sport and
pastime, much like, say, hockey in Canada or soccer (football) in Brazil. So an old
Cuban fisherman who talks about baseball is realistic in Hemingway s setting
4. The Transition Between High School And College
All children become an adult at some point in their lives. The transition between high
school and college exemplifies this transition. Yet few of these students feel prepared
for the challenge that is adult life. After living with their parents for 17 18 years, the
move away from home and getting saddled with a plethora of responsibilities can be
jolting. William Allen has many graduation requirements, but an Independent Living
class is not one of them. This needs to change. High Schoolought to prepare students
for the everyday aspect of collegeand life after school, not just the academic aspect of
college. The graduation requirements of the AllentownSchool district include 4 years
of English, 3 years of math and science, and 2 years of foreign language
(PROGRAM OF STUDIES 2015 2016 William Allen High School Louis E. Dieruff
High School, 7). It does not include any sort of class designed to help students learn
important life techniques. School is designed to prepare us for college and the
difficult transition between high school and college. But the way our high school
curriculum is designed it only prepares us for the academic aspect of college, and
without regard to people who may choose to take a gap year or not go to college.
When going to college, students may worry about the dorms. They must adjust to
college lifestyle and making new friends. The additional stress of being suddenly
ladled with a plethora of responsibilities on top of this stress can be daunting.
5. Essay on Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey
After having a thorough read of the novel Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey, I have come
to understand the powerful effects of using written codes and conventions in novels.
Silvey s impressive piece of literature was carefully constructed through techniques
such as characterization, socio cultural context, themes and intertexuality. By doing
this, Silvey was accredited for convincing the readers, appealing to their emotions
and manipulating their beliefs and values to accept or agree with his opinions on the
issue covered in the novel. Characters play a major role in ensuring that the novels
can be read and comprehended. However, the success of a novel is dependent on the
quality of characterization and whether they will attract the... Show more content on

The community also had issues with Vietnamese immigrants due to their different
physical features and the crisis Vietnam was in. For instance, Jeffrey and his
family were harassed and Mr. Lu was beaten by four drunken men. The messages
are being conveyed as themes in the novel and Silvey aims to inform Australians of
the consequences for our actions. He explored ideas of racism and discrimination,
inequality, injustice and alcoholism. In the novel, Charlie is distressed to find both
of his friends being insulted and abused for the nationality. For example, Jasper is
blames for Laura s death and for every conflict he is held as scapegoat. In Jeffrey s
case, his family is looked down upon and their reputation as humans is disregarded
and degraded. Silvey is trying to highlight the stupidity of the people and show the
importance of giving everyone a fair go. Jasper Jones has strong intertextual links
to an all time favourite but a complex novel to understand, To kill a mocking bird
by Harper Lee. In fact Silvey wrote Jasper Jones as an easier and modern version of
To Kill a Mocking Bird. Many of the characters have parallel personalities and some
of the main ideas were the same. Both deal with racism and discrimination in small
country towns, both explore the distant relation between law and justice, and both,
Jasper Jones and TKAMB create a world of moral opposites
6. Export of Towel from Pakistan
INTRODUCTION
The export of towel from Pakistan to other countries is not generating much
revenue but it has some importance as Pakistan ranks with India and China among
the world s leading towel manufacturers. The towel export business is specially a
good one for Karachi based producers, bringing Pakistan $300 million each year
from sales to the United States alone. It is also good for urban Pakistanis seeking
factory work According to the Towel Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (TMA),
the manufacture of nine tons of towels enough to fill a standard 20x20x8 foot
shipping container puts 485 Pakistani men and women to work.

manufactures by registering 23.5 percent growth in value During FY10, despite the
imposition of countervailing duties by the US Commerce Department. A 6.2 percent
decline in per unit prices was more than offset by a marked improvement in the
Export volume (US$ 62.0 million), resulting in a net gain of US$ 46.1 million in
export earnings.

8. The Laffer Curve And Its Effect On The People
Introduction
The point Arthur Laffer made when he brought up what later became the Laffer
curve was that government implementations have both short and long term impacts
on the people, and that those impacts are directly dependent on incentives: positive
or negative. In their most primal forms, positive incentives would be subsidies and
negative incentives would be taxes. The Laffer curve, although very hard to
accurately estimate, is very powerful in its shape. The understanding of its shape is
crucial for policymakers, but also a headache as its parameters are extremely difficult
to comprehend and model properly.
A background on Arther Laffer will be provided before getting into the Laffer curve

Dr. Arthur Betz Laffer is an American economist who gained prominence during the
Reagan administration for his theory on how tax rates affect the total revenues
collected by the government. In the above quote, Dr. Arthur Lafferexplains that
increase in government revenue is not the true measure of a growing economy. A
prosperous economy is one in which people have more income, more growth and
more employment opportunities.
Dr. Arthur Laffer was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 14, 1940 to Amelia and
William Gillespie. Both of his parents had an educational background in economics
and this motivated him to pursue a career in it. Before going to Yale University to
earn a B.A. in Economics, Dr. Laffer went to University of Munich and was
majoring in Mathematics, but later he changed his major to economics. In order to
further satiate his interest, he did his MBA and got a full scholarship to do his PhD
in economics at the Economics school of Stanford University.
In 1967, he accepted the offer from the University of Chicago to join as a faculty
member. Dr. Laffer was eager to work alongside Robert Mundell, who was already
part of the school s faculty and was one of the earliest supply side thinkers in the
realm of economics.

how much people know about them? Chemical weapons are an issue because
chemical weapons can cause so much harm that they should be banned. They are
weapons of mass destruction. Look at napalm, it sticks to your skin and feels like

Hypothesis testing is the process in which an analyst may test a statistical
hypothesis. The methodology used by the analyst is based on the nature of the data
used and the main goals of the analysis. The main goal in this is to either reject or
accept the null hypothesis. Through testing, results will show that someone who
may prove one answer, may not mean that answer is actually correct, for there may
be many factors that may change the outcome. For this reason is why researchers
the five or one percent probability rates. In this null hypothesis it will prove that
there is no difference between these variables. With the single variables it is also
proven that there is no difference from zero. Statistical evidence will later prove
that if it is indeed proven to be fact or nullified based on the evidence gathered. A
null hypothesis is a process in which research may try to disprove, reject or nullify
the proposed hypothesis. In a study, the researcher may use the hypothesis based on a
specific testable prediction; this is based on a dependent and independent variable in
a study. In result, the hypothesis researched will match what the analyst is trying to
prove to be true in the problem. The first step one must take when testing a hypothesis
is restating the question experience analyzed into an alternative hypothesis and null
hypothesis. The following scenario is as follows: Do
11. The Male Gaze
Is the male gaze still a relevant concept? Using historical and contemporary visual
examples, assess whether the male gaze still exists.
The male gaze is a concept that refers to how visual culture is designed to please a
male viewer by sexually objectifying women. It was first coined by Laura Mulvey, a
British feminist film critic, in her essay Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema
(1975). She argues that Hollywood films use women as erotic objects in order to
provide pleasurable experience for heterosexual male audiences. According to her,
the male gaze can be seen as active and passive roles that satisfy the spectator, who
in our culture is a man, which means a woman is the spectacle. In a world ordered by
sexual imbalance, pleasure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women throughout art history have been treated as objects, meant to be looked at.
Great examples of this can be The Birth of Venus by Botticelli (1486) and The
Venus of Urbino by Titan (1583). In history, Venus was a Roman goddess of love,
beauty and sexuality. Women we see in both of these paintings are displayed for
the gaze of men, they are both idealized, with flawless porcelain skin, they are what
men perceive as perfect . Botticelli s Venus has a hesitant body language, yet the
look on her face suggests sexual invitation. She is being styled in a certain way for
the artist, she is one of Botticelli s women . Titan s Venus is lying in bed while
looking back at the viewer which creates a sense of sexual intimacy. Other
paintings that cater to the male gaze are In love by Marcus Stone and Lady seated
at her needlework by Mihaly Munkacsy. In both cases we see men observing
women, who are clearly absorbed with their work. Both of the men are looking at
women as if what they are doing is something sensual, something they do to try to get
men s attention, which completely undervalues women s work, suggesting that
everything a woman does is to please the male gaze.
The male gaze is still very present in today s cinema. Good example of that can be
Hollywood s hit The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), where the main femalecharacter,
Naomi, is treated as nothing more but an aesthetic object to the male characters.
The first time we see her, camera lingers on her body, then we hear one of the male
characters say I d let her give me AIDS . Throughout the film she is constantly
objectified, always presented either naked, in lingerie or tight dresses. She only exists
as Jordan s wife, not as her own person. Her only purpose is to be looked
12. Comparing The Odyssey And The Cruelest Journey
You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be
necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can

many poems about perseverance as Homer and Salak did in the Odyssey and The
Cruelest Journey. In The Odyssey Odysseus was traveling back to Ithaca and to his
wife after the battle of troy which took ten years in battle and ten more to get home.
Salak was on a long journey down a 600 mile river the Niger, upon arrival to
Timbuktu she d be the first person to ever conquer the river. Odysseus and Salak

wolves and lions to be scary and feared by the men. Even if not that, the sentence
has a negative connotation because of the words mighty , yellow eyes , and feared

Florida has always been a beautiful state aligned with unique natural wonders which
has made it a location of wonder within the U.S. Even with Florida s majestic natural
appeal the state in its territorial years struggled with its public image as Indian
attacks were common place in the region along with yellow fever and environmental
phenomena such as hurricanes. Following in the end of the Seminole and the Civil
war Floridabegan to search for a new identity and sense of prosperity in the face of
massive changes to its economy and societal structure. With the advent of new
technologies, the borders of Florida for the first time were opened to larger
encompassing audience of visitors from all over the country who came to marvel at
the natural landscapeand relax in the temperate weather. Gary Mormino author of
Land of Sunshine State of Dreams described in his book the factors and obstacles
which challenged and ultimately propelled Florida to experience monumental growth
in the 20th century. From the rapid use of automobiles to the creation of the magic
Kingdom Florida has numerous factors to acknowledge when recognizing its recent
success in America. While Gary Mormino book makes no effort to shy away from
the less favorable aspects Florida history including the financial struggles of the early

Florida s past and future.

Abstract In this experiment, the capillary actions of four different liquids, ethanol,
heptane, water, and ethyl acetate, were examined to analyze their relative
intermolecular forces (IMFs). Capillary action was tested by inserting a capillary
tube into 50 mL of the sample chemical and measuring the height to which the
chemical rose inside the tube. The cohesive and adhesive forces that work together
to make a chemical rise to a certain height indicate the chemical s IMF strength. The
results displayed heptane rising to an average of 4.02 cm, followed by water at 3.89

Polar molecules, those with electronegativity differences greater than 0.4,
experience dipole dipole forces (DD) between the positive and negative ends of
their molecular dipoles. When the difference between the highest and lowest
electronegativities is greatest, the molecules will experience the strongest DD
forces. Another IMF, London/Dispersion Force (LDF), acts between any pair of
molecules regardless of polarity. LDFs come from the movement of electrons
throughout the molecule developing a negative charge on one side and a positive
charge on the other side. Therefore, the higher the number of electrons in an
molecule, the stronger its LDFs will be. The final type of IMF is the hydrogen bond
(H Bond), a specified DD from a highly electronegative atom, either nitrogen,
oxygen, or fluorine, to a hydrogen atom that is molecularly bonded to another one of
the three highly electronegative atoms. They are distinct from DDs in that they are

AIDS epidemic in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The movie theme depicts eight
individuals who struggle with poverty, homosexuality, death, and hardships of life in
New York City. I believe Rent did a great job utilizing the costumes, lighting, and
props and furniture to get the message across. The costumes in the movie reflect the
character s personality and developed a vision for the audience. For the most part the
women wore brighter colors, such as red, orange, and animal print, while the men

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT LUCKNOW
Over the years there has been a shift in the consumer buying behaviour of two
wheelers. While cost, fuel efficiency and comfort have been primary influencers
throughout, factors such as aesthetics, brand recognition have gained importance in
the recent years.
Following are the key consumer factors that have witnessed a change over the years:
Change in Consumer Behaviour with Affordability
During the early years after independence i.e. in 1950s, two wheelers were
considered as a luxury good. In 1950s most of the people were dependent on
agriculture for their earnings, sources of income were very few, due to which the
disposable income with people was also low and only a few could afford two
wheelers. Two wheelers were sometimes given as dowry in marriages and
considered as a status symbol, since very few families were able to afford them.
But now as the income levels have increased and people have easy access to credit
and loan facilities, most people can a two wheeler. It is not considered as the luxury
good anymore, it has rather become a necessity for some consumers who commute
daily and look for economical options.
Changing Preference towards Economy
During 1980 90s, the two wheelers became one of the most widely used

Describe the etiology of the disorder. Bipolar Disorders are considered complex
because of the episodes that are experienced. They include dysfunctional mood,
potentially including major depressive episodes, mild to moderate depressive
episodes, manic episodes, hypomanic episodes, and mixed episodes, which are often
separated by periods of relatively normal mood. (BDII). There are two types of
Bipolar Disorders that I will cover in this paper. They include Bipolar I disorder (BP
I) and Bipolar II disorder (BD II).According to the Epidemiologic Catchment Area
Study, as cited by Kleinman, Lowin, Flood, Gandhi, Edgell, and Revicki (2003),
the lifetime prevalence by race and ethnicity for BD I and BD II, are as follows:
Caucasian 0.8% and 0.4%, African American 1.0% and 0.6%, and Hispanic 0.7%
and 0.5%.. Lifetime prevalence rate for Bipolar I is 0.6%and bipolar II it is 0.3%
over a 12 month period (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). People who
have Bipolar I disorder typically experience alternating episodes of depression and
mania where there is a separation of some level of normalcy in the sequence
(American Psychiatric Association, 2013). For example, they might be depressed
for 4 days feel normal for a couple of days than go into a manic episode. On the other
hand, those with Bipolar II disorder they only experience depressive episodes and
will not have an episode of mania. Describe the diagnostic features of the disorder.

Routing depends on the server rack and server of the destination in the packet. The
main logic behind routing here is the packet enters any core switch then gets

20. Congo’s Era of Damnation
In the year 1885, King Leopold II of Belgium imperialized the Independent State of
the Congo. Leopold set the area up under his own personal rule. His rule was an
extremely negative and very unwanted thing that plunged the area into an era of
damnation.
The early history of the congo really starts in 150 AD. The indigenous immigrants to
the Congo, who were most likely Pygmies, had migrated from the northern area to
the savannah regions in the south now called DROC, or Democratic Republic of the
Congo (Clarke, John H). These immigrants brought agriculture, and made iron tools.
Moving ahead to 1482, the Portuguese navigator, Diogo CГЈo visited the Congo
River marking the first ever known European contact with the region. Henry
Stanley, a British explorer is commanded to proclaim King Leopold s rule over the
Congo in 1879. This is followed by European powers at the Berlin Conference who
recognised Leopold s claim to the Congo basin and he announces the establishment of
the Congo Free State headed by himself (Democratic Republic of...), thus beginning
Leopold s era of tyranny. Leopold s purpose of controlling the Congo was for the
vast amount of resources such as ivory, rubber, and copper. In 1887, J.B. Dunlop s
invention of inflatable, rubber, bicycle tires and the rapid increase in the popularity
of the automobile, caused the demand for rubber to increase dramatically. Now
sensing an opportunity, Leopold issued three decrees in 1881 and 1882 collectively

22. Differences Between Oedipus And Hamlet
Considering King Oedipus s self inflicted blindness and Hamlet s overwhelming thirst
for his own stepfather s blood, it seems that both men have lost their minds. However,
these men are not truly mentally unhinged, but rather incredibly devoted to their
religious ideals. Hamlet, a Catholic, believes that his actions will determine his
afterlife; the way he acts, though crazy, is an attempt to please Godand avoid eternal
damnation. King Oedipus, a follower of Apollo and the Greek gods, acts
irresponsibly and makes rash decisions because he believes that his fate is set in stone
and that his actions, no matter how extreme, can not change his destiny. Hamletand

King Oedipus now knows that the gods are cursing Thebes because of his
wrongdoings and is overwhelmed with the realization that the gods control
everything. He is appalled that he was oblivious to this for so long and makes the
rash decision to live in isolation, saying, Let me live in the mountain which would
have been my tomb so long ago. In conclusion, Hamlet s and King Oedipus s firm
religious beliefs are at the root of their crazy schemes and irrational decisions.
While their religious beliefs cause both King Oedipus and Hamlet to go mad, their
contrasting religious views on fate cause a variation in their actions. King Oedipus
believes that the Greek gods are in control of his life and everything that comes
after. Because of this belief, King Oedipus acts more carelessly and speaks
impetuously, for he knows that nothing he does or says will change his standing
with the gods. For example, upon discovering the truth about his childhood and his
father s death, King Oedipus blinds himself and asks, Why should I see when
vision shows me nothing sweet to see? King Oedipus believes that he has no control
over anything and that his destiny is damned by the gods, which is why he believes
being able to see is pointless and acts so carelessly. Hamlet, on the other hand,
believes that his standing with God can change and that his fate is not set in stone.

It clearly validates that elitism is not contradictory to popularization and windsurfing
is a favourable demonstration of the above. After the victory of Lee Lai Shan at the
1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympics, Hong Kong government invested a considerable
amount of resources in windsurfing. Judo can absolutely follow the track of
windsurfing since some marvellous Judo players are performing outstandingly in the
international competitions; for example, YU Kin Ting captured a gold medal in
Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games. Promoting judo to Tier A, therefore, helps the
promotion of Judo in the community in fact, which simultaneously indicates that the

24. Correlation Between The Data, And The Fitted Values Essay
Abstract We use diagnostic method to find residual and influence in nonlinear
regression for repeated measurement data. The purpose of that to detect disparity
between the data, and the fitted values as well as disparity among a few data sets.
Most of these Techniques based on graphical representation of residuals, hat matrix
and case deletion measures. After fitting a regression model, it is important to
regulate whether the entire requisite models supposition are reasonable before
performing inference. If there are any breaches, subsequent inferential procedures
may be invalid resulting in faulty conclusions. Therefore, it is crucial to perform
appropriate model diagnostic.
The one step approximation the estimates, generalized cook distance and likelihood
distance are considered. Cook and likelihood distance are two statistical diagnostics
method. Models diagnostics procedures imply both graphical and formal statistical
tests. These procedures recognize us to inspect whether the supposition of the
regression model are justifiable and decide whether we can belief subsequent
inference outcome. We use these methods to explore the performance of residual and
influence in nonlinear regression model. These residuals can produce confusing
results when used in diagnostic method corresponding to those for linear regression.

27. Blood Spurts From The Female Vampire s Chest
Blood spurts from the female vampire s chest, as her human lover drives the stake
further and further into her heart. The scene where Lucy is killed can be
interpreted in different ways due to the varying interpretations of blood. One way
to interpret blood and vampirism in Bram Stoker s Dracula is through the
psychoanalytical critical lens. In this interpretation, blood symbolizes sexual fluid
and vampires are a metaphor for eroticism. The novel was written in Victorian
England, which had strict morals regarding female sexuality. In an article, Jesse
Battan describes ideals from this time period as insist[ing] that women s erotic
impulses were shaped by maternal instincts and a social conscience . Victorian
society trained women not to act upon their desires and instead to repress their
sexuality. Lucy Westerna, a main female character in the novel, has a sleepwalking
habit that reveals her subconscious desires. However, as the novel progresses, her
desires are no longer merely subconscious because her sexuality is expressed through
her vampirism. This prompts the hunters to try and remedy this issue by murdering
her. Bram Stoker conveys that Lucy defies Victorian England standards due to the
progression of her character from the typical nineteenth century maiden into a sensual
creature. At the beginning of the novel, Lucy follows society s standards by
suppressing her sexuality and only revealing her repressed desires through her
sleepwalking. After discovering Lucy

The Negative Effects of Cohabitation
Americans often talk as if marriage were a private, personal relationship. But when
two people live together for their own strictly private reasons, and carve out their
own, strictly private bargain about the relationship, we call that relationship not
marriage but Cohabitation. (Waite 1) Cohabitation is becoming increasingly
common and is a growing trend in America. According to the latest Census Bureau,
couples living together outside of marriage has reached an all time high, almost
eight times as many as in 1970. Most believe that cohabitation is a way to
experience the pre marriage life. And it is true. Majority of the people who chose to
cohabitated chose to cohabit first rather than marry directly. Recent figures show that
the majority people cohabited consisted of two thirds of young adult men and
women. Most of the cohabitations are temporary. They typically last about a year or
a little more and then either disintegrate into marriages or dissolve. According to
Linda J. Waite, cohabitation is not long term alternative for marriage. It remained in
the courtship process or a temporary expediency, not a stable social living
arrangement. Cohabitation is unsettled, and does not require any legal joint
residency. It is not a lifetime commitment. In fact, many couples chose to cohabitate
because it required no formal restraints or responsibilities.

Poor Nicaraguans have worse social indicators when it comes to education than

education is universal, school is free for everyone, but many economic and social

poverty and suffering of the people is the Nicaraguan health system. The Nicaraguan

Conducting behavioral research is an important aspect in regards to studies because
the research gathered can assure behavioral characteristics are correct and correlate to
the study. When conducting research, it is imperative that we manage systematic and
careful observations. It is important to know that although research is used to gather
information, it may not yield accurate results. Some observations that are collected
by researchers may conflict with one another however; this is vital data that is
necessary for the process. Different opinions are helpful in order to determine the
different ways behaviors occur and interact. Behaviors such as the mental process

The primary aspect of scientific method is observation. There are four facets that are
important to keep in mind during this procedure: empiricism, determinism, parsimony
and testability. Empiricism ensures the investigation relies on observations. For this
particular study, entering the prisons to view the male inmates behaviors before and
after meditation programs are implemented can be incorporated into our research
study. Observing the inmates will give insight on understanding the causes of
particular behaviors. We, as a researcher, rely on our own observations instead of
relying on other methods such as authority, which can lead to faulty evidence. Not all
authority figures are similar in their thinking processes nor do all encompass accurate
data. Witnessing the male inmates in their new normal, uncontrolled environment,

on the thought process. Determinism is the phenomena in which the world and
behaviors of humans occur naturally and have identifiable causes. The purpose of
naturalistic observation is to monitor behaviors within the participants normal setting.

ntroduction
Why did the United States introduce chemical weapons and defoliant agents into the
Vietnam War?
The United States Military introduced chemical weaponry in their attempts to defeat
communist forces in Vietnam. Because of the nature of the terrain, which consisted
mostly of dense jungle, the US Armed Forces were unable to effectively target their
enemy, the Vietcong.
The introduction of chemical weapons, notably defoliant agents such as Agent
Orange, enabled the US military to clear large areas of land that had previously been
jungle, exposing Vietcong hideouts as well as threatening the Vietnamese food
supplies. In this way the tactic was very successful. However, the use of chemical

Long ago, Benjamin Franklin stated that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of
cure; a precautionary principal that should always be remembered and applied
toward any scenario. This still holds true in our county today, whether it is fixing
potholes in the road or discovering medical breakthroughs using science. However,
there is one area that you rarely find this principal being used and that is with the
relationship between crime and mentally unstable individuals.
There are too many examples: massacres killing up to 20 or 30 people at a time and
murder suicides which often claim the lives of innocent people are no longer a rare
occurrence. Suicides are committed by mentally ill civilians almost daily, and
typically leave behind no clear motive for killing either self or others. Unfortunately,
mental illness is not a sickness where doctors can provide an easy cure and the
medicines that are available often have more side effects than benefits. With few
tools to help those infected, there is a great amount of pressure to continue to
respect their rights; society is left with few options. Often, the mentally ill refuse
care, so that all we can do is provide support in an attempt to keep them, and society,
as safe as possible. Therefore, we allow the mentally ill to live their lives freely, and
even allow them to obtain any weapons they desire. Call me crazy, but this

which were written England or America should effect on Australian culture and
society. We can also say that Australian people have the same or similar values of
these. I am going to compare the song I Got rhythm by George and Ira Gerhwin

The language of INSERT song A and song B have a number of similarities and key

in song A uses words like chipper and happy . The languages suggest that in 1930
people tried to escape in the song. This song was published in 1930 which is during

they tried to find their other happy life in the song even if it was not true. This is

It uses the words like We don t need no education and Teachers leave them kids alone

Whether it s grilled chicken sandwiches, wraps, or salads, there is usually
something for everyone. One thing to keep in mind is that healthier options
generally tend to be a little more expensive. But because it is fast food, you are still
going to save money over homemade foods. (2017, July 5). Healthy food quality
and quantity. Yes , you are paying more for healthy food and yes, you do get less
product from paying their expensive healthy food. When you are buying healthy
food they already have them package individually so the food you buy will have
just amount of calories you want and just enough of nutrients. Having such good
quality from eating healthy food, it will make you fuller faster because of the
product they put in the meat, snacks, and drinks. There are a few disadvantages of
eating unhealthy cheap food because sometimes the product they make contains too
much salt and fat. Which is why sometimes cheap food has bad quality for the price
you are getting. Unhealthy foods contain unhealthy product do not get me wrong
though, there are some cheap food that does have great quality in their food. You just
have to pick out the right stuff for the right prices. There is not a huge price
difference in healthy food or unhealthy

43. 1960s Time Capsule Essay
It is year 2325 my colleagues and I have made an amazing discovery we have
found 5 items dating way back to the 1960 s. We are archeologist that love finding
things from years and years ago. My colleagues and I have just been summoned to
a dig a site because my colleagues made a unique discovery: a time capsule from
the 1960s that was buried so long ago. Very carefully my colleagues and I are
going to unearth and open this time capsule. Inside the time capsule we found five
items that define the era of the 1960s. The very first item we found is a record by
The Beatles . The Beatles got their first studio deal in 1962. The Beatles cast
involved John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. In the 60

the country after John Kennedy was assassinated which was one of America s
troubling and trying times in the 60 s. As the Beatles apparel and hairdos became
more thrilling and the Beatles were wearing facial hair in 1966 which was one of
their many laidback behaviors that coordinated with those of the counterculture,
including smoking marijuana and taking mind altering drugs. The next item we
found was a 1967 Rolling Stones magazine. The Rolling Stone came out around the
same time as what was called the hippie movement. It covered a lot of music,
politics, and culture. In the 60 s anybody who bought the magazine only paid 35
cents per magazine. Some of the stories covered in 1967 in the magazine were about
The Beatles, Tina Turner, and John Lennon. According to research As Rolling Stone
founder and Hall of Fame Inductee Jann Wenner observed: When Rolling Stone

44. Glass Window Of Chartes Cathedral
I am choosing to interpret the north rose stained glass window of Chartes Cathedral.
This beautiful stained glass window is located in the Notre Dame Cathedral in the
town of Chartes, located near central France. I will use a couple different approaches
to interpret this stained glass window. I will first begin analyzing this window
through McDannell s method for interpreting material culture. The method consists
of three different parts: description, analysis, and interpretation. To begin this
process I will first analyze the window and provide details about the description of
the window. This window consists of many different colors, some bright and some
light. The main colors that stick out to me when I look at the window is purple,...

I will use is within the subfield of the cultural studies approach, known as visual
culture. This approach is focused on art history/the fine arts approach meaning that it
is influenced by art history and focuses on the visual art. Visual culture is the aspect
of culture that is expressed in visual images. The rose window expresses visual
culture through the fleur de lis symbols painted on the window. When you
translate fleur de lis to English, it means, flower of the lily . The fleur de lis has
many different meanings but traditionally it has been used to represent French
royalty as well as representing perfection and life (The Fleur De Lis). This can be
related to the stained glass window since the fleur de lis symbols are painted on the
top half of the window along with the scene of the birth of baby Jesus. The visual
culture approach not only focuses on art history and visual art, but four ways in
which images participate in religious practices. These four ways include
communication, communion, commemoration, and imagination. The main way that
sticks out to me most is the commemoration category. This category focuses on
images that remember important people, places, and ideas that are being celebrated
and remembered. There are a few important people who are being expressed in this
window such as Mary, baby Jesus, and
45. Comparing Games At Twilight And Through The Tunnel
Games at Twilight by Anita Desai and Through the Tunnel by Doris Lessing are
two interesting stories demonstrating the challenges that a young child might face.
The main character from each story, Jerry and Ravi, are small children with the
desire to gain acceptance from people. In addition to this, they are each faced with
a difficult obstacle to overcome; Jerry wishes to make his way through a tunnel, and
Ravi is elude his siblings in a competitive game of hide and go seek. The way in
which these children conquer their challenge is quite different, but the reasons for
accomplishing them is the same. The setting, imagery, and theme of each story are
very different. However, the characters of Jerry and Ravi have many congruent
aspects. The main characters, Ravi and Jerry, share very similar personality traits with
each other. Both are young, innocent boys that are... Show more content on

In Through the Tunnel the location is a beautiful, sunny paradise on a French
resort. The image of the rippling ocean and blue sky coming together
harmoniously creates a sense of freedom and relaxation. Jerry has the ability to
move, the ability to explore, and the ability to be alone. On the contrary, Ravi is
trapped by his environment. His environment ...made them feel that their lungs
were stuffed with cotton wool and their noses with dust and if they didn t burst out
into the light and see the sun and feel the air, they would choke (Desai 270). It is
as if Ravi is being tortured by the baking heat inside his home. He longed to be
liberated, like Jerry was. His mother, hesitant at first, finally let Ravi and the other
children play outside. These games are all the children have that give them a sense
of freedom. The children, too, felt released (Desai 270). Ravi s environment is
miserable, and essentially inescapable. It makes Ravi feel trapped, helpless, and
46. Reflection Paper On Volleyball Player
This Club season, I would like to improve my knowledge of the sport, understand
how to be a supportive teammate, and develop into a better and more experienced
volleyball player.
The position I enjoy the most is the outside hitter. I am fond of this position because
I am not only a skilled and talented hitter, but I am also useful in backrow. Therefore,
an outside hitter is my desired position because I believe this is where I would be the
most useful to the team.
I would absolutely consider playing another position because I desire to support my
team in anyway the coaches see fit.
A position I am not willing to play is right side hitter because in a previous club
season, I was placed in that position and I did not get much playing time and I felt
as though I was not benefitting my team in any way. Also, I enjoy passing in the
backrow and the position of right side hitter is only a front row position.
My grade point average is a 98.75. My grades currently range from a 97 100%.
School is a very big aspect of my life and my goal is to continue to move forward in
my studies.
On average, I study anywhere from one hour to three hours a night causing me to
have plenty of free time that could be used more productively.
I am motivated by goals and I feel it is very important to set goals for yourself in
every aspect of your life. I am also motivated by rewards and my personality causes
me to want to fulfill all of the potential possible for me.
My motivation increases when I am being supported by the people around me
because then I will not want to let them down. My parents also motivate me to do
my best because they have set a very high expectation for me, causing me to work
for what I want. Yelling and fear of failure both decrease my motivation. When I am
in an environment that I feel comfortable in, my motivation will increase, however,
if I am in a space where I feel judged, I tend to not be motivated.
I have led by example when I tell the truth instead of taking the easy way out, when
I take credit for my actions and not sabotage my teammates. I also lead by example
when I listen to and follow instructions as well as when I am persistent and
determined to reach a goal or support my teammates.

47. The Singularity, The Event Horizon, And The Ergosphere
When a star with a mass about 20 times that of our Sun comes to the end of its life,
it will run out of nuclear fuel, therefore collapsing in on itself. This collapse results
in a chasm in space time with such a high density that not even light can escape its
gravitational pull; this is what we call a black hole.
There are three main parts of a black hole, the singularity, the event horizon, and the
ergosphere. The singularity of a black hole is a place of infinite density and gravity,
space time curves boundlessly around this point and the laws of physics come to a
halt.
The event horizon is often called the point of no return. Once past this boundary of
space time, nothing can escape the gravity of the black hole.
When a black hole spins,
48. Political Correctness Essay
Political Correctness
Political correctness is a political ideology, nothing more. I believe political
correctness is a political ideology and it cannot be correct unless it is linked to
genuine transformation. First, I will examine the origins of political correctness to
try to get a clear understanding of what this movement is. Second, I will show you
that political correctness is political and how it became a political ideology. Lastly, I
shall discuss why this ideology does not work.
Political correctness is cultural Marxism. Marx, as cited in Introduction to Social
Science course guide, believed that if people were left to work on their own they
would be more efficient. He had an ideological belief that laborers could actually want

Some members moved into government such as Herbert Marcuse who was the
predecessor to the CIA and other members move into Hollywood.
These beginnings of political correctness would mean very little to us today if it
weren t for the student rebellions in the mid 1960 s .The students as Lind notes
read the book that Marcuse writes, Eros and Civilization . The students do not
have to read lots of heavy Marxism and Marcuse tells them everything they want to
hear. Such as, Do your own thing , If it feels good do it and you never have to go to
work . Marcuse was also the man who created the phrase make love not war .
Political correctness arrived at American Universities.
Therefore, political correctness s true origins have been forgotten and so people have
forgotten what political correctness really is.
Terms such as politically correct thus have a hidden history, uncovering which is
dependent both on the accurate recollection of those who were there, (Cameron,
1995,78).
Now we know where political correctness originated but in order to understand
political correctness as a political ideology we have to first look at what politics is
and second what an ideology is.
Politics is about the distribution of power. In the Introduction to Social Science
course guide it is stated that, politics can be anywhere . Therefore, politics is in the
language we speak. Power is the ability to
49. Marya Mannes How Do You Know It s Good
In a world that has become immune to accepting all types of art, Marya Mannes
believes we have lost our standards and ability to identify something as good or bad .
In her essay, How Do You Know It s Good , she discusses society s tendency to
accept everything out of fear of wrongly labelling something as being good or bad.
She touches on various criteria to judge art, such as the artist s purpose, skill and
craftsmanship, originality, timelessness, as well as unity within a piecerather than
chaos. She says that an individual must decide if something is good on the basis
of instinct, experience, and association (Mannes). I believe that by using standards
and the process of association, we will be able to judge what makes an art piece
good in comparison to others. However, Mannes forces me to consider the
difference between what may be appealing versus what is actually good, and when
deciding which art we should accept, which is truly more important. I believe that
good and bad are two ends of a large, subjective spectrum of grey area. It is possible
for a piece of art to be good in some areas and bad in others, and if something does
not live up to all of our standards, it does not necessarily mean it should be
dismissed. Thus, I believe my personal standards for judging art are based on
which my standards are largely based on the personal reaction evoked from a piece
of art. Though I agree with Mannes standards to an extent, I believe that certain
standards, such as evoking a personal response, can be more telling of if a piece of
art is good as opposed to its timelessness, or the level of experience of an artist in
his/her craft. As Mannes stated, the process of association is essential in
determining the quality of art, by comparing it to the other art we have seen. I am
able to judge the multitexts I have read in class by using the process of association
to compare them to each other. For example, we are able to judge the quality of the
pieces by comparing and contrasting them to each other. All three of our multitexts
used certain writing models such as analogy poems and dialogue. Cusion s piece
Blame , is an analogy poem that he used to build on his multitext, implicitly telling
readers
50. Dualist View On Identity
Identity criteria are a main component of who a person actually is, central elements
of how someone sees who they are and essential properties are urged to determine a
person s identity. How philosophers view the soul is essential one s personality. The
duelists believe that wherever the soul goes, that s where the mindgoes. The dualists
view is based off of the fact that there is more to our brain and ourselves than just the
physical aspect, the soulstrongly supports this claim. Materialism argues against
the duelists because they only believe in the physical component of the world, in
their eyes a soul does not exist. Lastly, in the psychological view, John Locke
implemented memory into personal identity. Leibniz and Reid challenged Locke s
ideas and came up with a reasonable conclusion. Personal identity can be defined is
through identity theft, but it is the central elements of how someone perceives
themselves to determine who they actually are. One is that a single soul, one and
the same, has been with this body I call mine since it was born. The other is that
one soul was associated with it until five years ago and then another,
psychologically similar, inheriting all the old memories and beliefs, took over. A
third hypothesis is that every five years a new soul takes over. A fourth is that every
five minutes a new soul takes over Weirob views souls by being able to move from
one body to the next without us knowing, the duelists strongly disagree with this
theory.

1. Investigate SCR s Internet site and learn about the company s history, purpose, and
values. Send Jesse a brief memo with suggestions to expand or improve these
sections.
2. On the SCR intranet, visit the data, forms, and resources libraries and review a
sample of the information in each library.
3. Using the SCR functions and organization listed in the data library, create an
organization chart using Microsoft Word, Visio, or a drawing program.
4. Jesse says the SCR has plenty of competition in the IT consulting field. Get on the
Internet and find three other IT consulting firms. She wants a brief description of
each firm and the services it offers.

This is exciting news and a real opportunity for the IT team to help design an
information system to support the SCR training group. The new system will be called
TIMS, which stands for Training Information Management System.
As you know, our Web site has an SCR Services link where we list our four corporate
units and their goals: the Systems Support Group, the Network/Web Group, the
Business Solutions Group, and the Project Management Group.
Now, we would like to add a fifth unit to highlight the new training group. Take a
look at the other four areas, then draft a brief statement that will describe the
Training Group s goals. Try to use a style that will be consistent with the existing
material. I d like to see your draft as soon as possible so we can get it approved and
added to the site.
Also, on another subject entirely, I d like your view on whether or not SCR needs a
systems review committee. We seem to have gotten along fairly well without one up
until now, but some people think it would be wise to have a review committee
approach as SCR grows and becomes more diverse. Tell me what you think and why.
Thanks.

53. International Economics, Cause Trade Restrictions
1.Introduction to Trade Policy.
When trading in an international market, a company must understand the ways,
countries can interfere with trade. These trade barriers, according to Kishore
Kulkarni s book on International Economics, cause trade to diverge from the
comparative advantage pattern (pg.266). David Ricardo s comparative advantage is
an economic law that demonstrates the ways in which protectionism is unnecessary
in free trade (pg.145). This section will provide an in depth look at the trade
restriction known as a tariff.
Tariffs are a part of life for anyone attempting to trade internationally. This raises a
question; why do countries restrict trade in the first place? There are three legitimate
reasons why tariffs might be used. The first has to do with protecting a new industry;
this is known as an infant industry. According to Richard T. Froyen s book on
Macroeconomics Theories and Policies, an infant industry is one that is too
underdeveloped to achieve comparative advantage or perhaps even to survive in the
global environment (pg.350). Such an industry may be small and undercapitalized to
survive without government intervention. This political intervention would be
achieved through tariffs, quotas, or subsidies. The next argument against free trade is
known as the national defense argument. In short, this argument would be applicable
during a crisis; attempting to protect important domestic industries, ensuring their
products is well established.
