Multiliteracies allows for collaborative, engaged learning by empowering learners through access to tools, resources, and other learners at their own pace. It acts as a catalyst for meaningful learning experiences and offers new possibilities for student engagement, teacher development, and school/community integration. The new multiliteracies framework aims to engage students' interests through four knowledge processes to frame pedagogy and avoid marginalizing students, as traditional approaches have ignored their knowledge. Learning by design pedagogy promotes connecting students productively to literacies through life-centered projects.
