This document discusses different types of quality control (QC) that can be performed during the digitization of video, film, and audiovisual content. It describes standards compliance QC to ensure files follow encoding standards. Audiovisual migration QC detects defects introduced during migration to ensure high quality. Content and metadata QC checks that files are complete and metadata is consistent. Case studies on large scale digitization projects at ORF and Indiana University illustrate the QC workflows and statistics on detected defects. Automated analysis detects more issues than VTR-based methods, and the results are complementary.
