EYE BLINK SENSOR AND
ARDUINO
ABSTRACT
 This paper aims to create a
framework to keep the car
safe and secure through
critical activity
• If we make all vehicles with an automatic safety
system that gives the driver a high level of
protection, an alarm will also be issued
• The device has an installed a eye blink sensor. Once
the driver has started the engine, the sensors
automatically detect the blink of eye
• On this device the output of the sensor is provided
for comparison with ARDUINO
• When the value reaches the set level, the buzzer
automatically vibrates, the LED glows, and the car
stops automatically when eye blink sensor receives a
signal from the transmission module.
INTRODUCTION
The failure of drivers in any vehicle
incidents is a very important part of the
dangerous problem facing the community
Various things involved in car
crashes such as high speed, sleep
while driving other distractions
such as texting while driving,
talking to others, playing with
children, etc.
• About 1374 people die every day, and
about 400 people die. Approximately
57 road accidents and 17 deaths per
hour as a result of motor vehicle
accidents
• In car accidents, 54.1 percent are
between the ages of 18 and 34
• The details of causes for the Road accidents by
Government of India is summarized as follows.
• Due to Driver (77%)
• Weather Condition (1%)
• Vehicle Condition (2%)
• Pedestrian’s fault (2%)
• Cyclist’s Fault (1%)
• Road Condition (2%)
• Other (14%)
• We focused on this
issue using the eye
twitch sensor to
introduce a car accident
prevention program
LITERATURE SURVEY
• Accidents due to rash driving and drowsiness are more inclined and need to be
controlled
• To control these type of accidents monitoring of the surrrounding is required
• The development of technologies for detecting the drowsy state of the driver is a
big challenge in the field of accident avoidance system
• Several literature paper have been studied and analysed for the syatem design
• Sleep and drowsy detection system is used to monitor the driver and alert them to
wake the driver from sleep in order to avoid the possibility of collision
• One of the method is by fixing a infrared
sensor in a wearable spectacle which
monitors the eye blink rate of the driver who
wears the spectacle
• This system alerts the driver from the
possibility collision as the driver wear the
glass while driving the car
• If the eye of the driver is closed for the
particular time i.e., for example take more
than 3 seconds then the infrared sensor sense
the eye blink rate and send the signal to the
buzzer
There are various methods for this drowsy detection
• Then the buzzer gets on
• Additional to the buzzer we can also keep a
vibrational motor in the driver seat which will
alert the driver from the drowsiness condition
NOVELITY
• We added to the project that the vehicle stops automatically
when the driver sleeps or blinks eye

SIGNIFICANCE
• To avoid the accident
• To Decrease in rate of fault accident
• It uses a simple ARDUINO sensor to detect if the
person’s eye is closed and the corresponding data
received can further be processed by any logic as requird
for the application
