This document describes the development of a system to monitor a patient's heart rate using a photoplethysmograph (PPG) sensor and send alerts via SMS if any abnormalities are detected. The system interfaces an Arduino board with a 3G shield to send SMS messages. It analyzes the PPG signal to determine heart rate and sends an SMS to a doctor if the rate is abnormal. The system was tested and able to successfully make calls, send SMS messages, and monitor heart rate using the PPG sensor and Arduino.
